This is a FAQ of (]=-The@N-=[), known as TheaN on Gamefaqs messageboards.
My real name is Arno Middelkoop and I'm from the Netherlands. Look in the

on my black list. That was my introduction, on to the subject of this FAQ:

The .hack series are well known series throughout anime-game fans, and in rare
occasions game-only fans. The .hack game series offer a sequel on .hack//SIGN,
a two-season featured anime series about a modern MMORPG called 'The World'. In
the games, you play in that same world, continuing the story from the anime.
The games consist of four games, and each will need a different! FAQ for the
PG. They are too different to put it in one FAQ. I will make several notices of
that.
I decided to create a PG FAQ almost a year ago, however, to get it myself I had
to replay; and at that time I wasn't really happy with that (I just completed
them). Now, I am replaying and doing anything I didn't do at that time. Rules

4.0 Mutation Fixed Events
-----------=-=-=-----------
In Mutation, a lot of the same occurs as in Infection, and I removed those.
These include the optional quests and random secrets; they are back in Mutation
without true changes. I did keep the Goblin Tag, to explain something special
about it. The next events, are different.

4.1 Goblin Tag R
=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=
They are back, with the same kind of challenge and same kind of prizes. I'd
like to state some trivial notes about it though:
- As stated above, the Goblins themselfs are now named: '*name* R'. According
to Stehoney: "R is for racing, gob".
- The armors are now named: '*name* A'. No reason is specified for this. The
only things that change are the parameters, especially physical tolerance.
Because of this, they still suck pretty well; but hey, they are rare.
- The Key Item is now called Imp's Praises.
For a strategy: gain in on them and use Orchid Dance. You'll hit them once, and
they'll go down fast. For Martina, use a The Moon.

4.2 .hack//SIGN Scenes
=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=
This is something completely different. Throughout Mutation, there is no
occasion that you have to visit:
D: Holy Forbidden Holy Ground
And this despite its well known connection to the .hack series. Well, as you
might feel coming: there is something done with it in Mutation. Throughout the
games, there are certain events that will unlock a scene in this area, to a
total of 4.
I do not know these events, and I keep it simple: after I complete Mutation, I
visit the area 4 times. What is your gain? 2 Silver and 2 Golden Grunties, one
after each scene. Store these combined with the Grunties from racing (see
below) and trading.
However, after each scene, you will firt gain a Key Item which is a memory
fragment of one of the SIGN characters. I will mention these as well.

4.3 Grunty Races

Well, not really. As stated in the Infection FAQ, from Mutation on, every
server with Grunties (Theta/Lambda in Mutation and on, Sigma in Outbreak and
on, and Omega in Quarantine) will have races.
I am NOT going to provide you with strategies. You know the drill: finish three
times on each top place, 1st 2nd or 3rd. You'll gain 6 Golden and 6 Silver
Grunties in Mutation. That already makes 8 of each. Combined with the ones from
the Lambda Grunties, you will have 9 of each (see below).
NOTE: finishing 1st the first time will also let you gain Image 51-55 for the
desktop. 51 for Theta, 52 for Lambda, 53 for Sigma, 54 for Omega and 55 for
all. These are pretty funny images featuring Mia, Elk and Piros with the
Grunties of the server specified above (55 is with all, of course). I will not
mention these in the list, as they are part of the races. I won't mention them
at Ryo Book upgrades either.

Aromatic Grass remains in the same formula: you can get two in Mutation, one
from the Bony Grunty and one from the Iron Grunty. However, the Lambda Grunties
also have something else: Bony has a Golden Grunty, and Snakey has a Silver
Grunty. This is repeated throughout the next games with the same formula as
Aromatic Grass: they will reappear for these two and the next two will also
have them. With this formula, you will have 1 + 2 + 3 = 6 of each through this
method.
