VERSION HISTORY

Version 1.0 - February 4, 2005 - Have all the characters moves down, and all
of the story paths done, and secrets done.

Version 1.1 - February 8, 2005 - Changed a few mistakes I made in the story
mode section.

Version 1.2 - February 24, 2005 - Added a FAQ section in to hopefully stop the

1.) Introduction
===================

Welcome to my FAQ for Guilty Gear X2.  Guilty Gear is a fighting game series
that started out on the Dreamcast with Guilty Gear.  Then Guilty Gear X was
introducted to the PS2 a few years ago, and then Guilty Gear X2 was released.
This FAQ will list the characters and their moves, and each characters story
mode.

The latest version of this guide will always be posted at GameFAQs first.

This FAQ is copyrighted by me, and may be used for personal use.  This FAQ may
NOT be used for any kind of profit, or be put in any kind of magazine.  I
write these on my spare time for free, and you shouldn't be able to get money

3.) Button Legends And Terms

F - Foward
B - Back
D - Down
U - Up
P - Punch
K - Kick
S - Slash
HS - Hard Slash
QCF - Quarter-circle Foward
QCB - Quarter-circle Back
HCF - Half-circle Foward
HCB - Half-circle Back
DF - Down-foward
DB - Down-back


Some terms to know;

Tension Gauge - When fighting, whenever you land a hit, or run towards your
opponent's direction, your tension gauge fills up.  This is located in the
bottom left hand corner (yours, anyways).  The bar starts as blue, then turns
to green, then red, then yellow.  Once it turns to red, you'll be able to do
an overdrive move.  If it's yellow, then you'll be able to do two overdrive
moves.

Overdrive Moves - These are powerful special attacks each character has.  In
order to use them, the Tension Gauge must be at least in the red section.
Each character has their own set of them (usually no less than 2), and are
more powerful than normal attacks.  However, they can be blocked.

Burst Gauge - New to Guilty Gear X2.  If you noticed under your health bar,
you've probably seen the word Burst surrounded by yellow, or the word Burst
with red in the letters.  If there's red in the letters, that means it's not
ready to use yet.  Once you see the word Burst, and the word is moving, then
when near an opponent, Press R1 + Any attack button and you'll do a Burst
attack.  If it hits, then your Tension Gauge will become full.  However, this
can be blocked.

Instant Kill - As the name says, these moves can kill an opponent instantly.
All characters (except Dizzy) has an instant kill move.  To activate it, press
all four attack buttons (P,K,S,HS), and your character will do a little pose.
Perform the attack, and if it lands, your opponent is instantly knocked out.
However, instant kill moves can be blocked, and if they are, your Tension
Gauge is gone for the rest of that round.  It would be a good idea to get a
feel to Instant Kill moves, since some characters are required to use them
in order to complete all three paths in their stories.

Roman Cancels - This cancels any attack mid-animation, then you can follow up
with another attack, making this good for combos.  In order to perform this,
your Tension Gauge must be at 50%, and then press any three attack buttons
(not including the Dust button).

Faultless Defense - This move is like a block, only it's more powerful and
reliable.  In order to perform this, Press S and HS while an attack is coming
at you and you should see a green circle appear around your character.  This
drains your Tension Gauge, so make sure to have a little tension when doing
this.  This works great for facing I-No in the Arcade mode, when she scatters
her shots all over the screen.

EX Mode - To get EX Mode, beat the characters as they appear in Survival Mode
(Level 10 and so on), or beat Paths 1 and 2 in their story modes, or complete
40 Missions in Mission Mode.  To use EX mode characters, hold L2 on the
character select screen.

SP Mode - To get SP Mode, beat the characters as they appear in Survival Mode
after Level 300, or beat all 3 Paths in their story modes, or complete 40
Missions in Mission Mode.  To use SP Characters, hold L1 on the character
select screen.  To activate Gold Mode, hold L1 and then press R1 over the
character of your choice, and to get Shadow Mode, hold L1 and press Start over
the character of your choice.

Guilty Gear Mode - Beat all paths in story mode for all characters.

Robo-Ky, Kliff, and Justice - Play any game mode for 96 hours, or beat them
as they appear in Survival Mode, beat all 3 paths for every character, or
complete 40 missions in Mission Mode.

Robo-Ky, Kliff, and Justice SP Mode - Beat all 50 Missions in Mission Mode
or beat them as they appear in Survival Mode {490, 500, 510}.

I also decided to add a few little fun facts, or goodies, if you will.

--Dizzy can airdash ever after jumping twice.

--Justice can jump three times, and air dash once if jumped thrice, air dash
twice if jumped twice, and air dash thrice if jumped once.

GAME FAQ

Q: I'm new to the Guilty Gear series.  Which character should I use first?
A: I'd start out with Sol.  I did the same.  His moves are easy to learn, he's
easy to make combos with, and can be mastered easily.

Q: Story Mode is too hard for me.  Any suggestions?
A: Yes, some fights in story modes are on the brink of being impossible, but
they are all possibly to beat.  If you find yourself stuck on a particular
fight (such as I was stuck on the fight against Gold Dizzy in Sol's third
path), then go to Vs. CPU and train with that character.  If all else fails,
then use Instant Kill.  It's cheap, but it'll hit if you time it right.

Q: I've having troubles with Combos.  Any ideas?
A: I really can't tell you what's a right and wrong combo, because that would
be wrong.  Experiment with normal attacks and special attacks to see which
works best for you.
