HOOFIN' IT Y'know, walking around on foot. This is slow as crap, but allows access to some areas vehicles can't reach. Fighting enemies is also easier in this mode [arguably] because it's possible to retaliate. Vehicles blow up when fired upon too much, and it's a deathtrap if one's inside. Slow and steady keeps the doctor away...or something... CARS Vehicles that drive around or found parked can be stolen with the Triangle button. Some cars may be locked however, while others may commence a mission of some sort [like the Toyz Van or certain cars in remote areas]. Oftentimes there are enemies who shoot, follow, or may hijack YOUR car in rare cases. SUBWAY The subway allows fast passage to the next borough/island and has no gangs or violence -- just speed. There are often only a handful of exits to subways, however, which is a downside. The subway doesn't open until Staunton Island [second area] is open, however. BRIDGE / TUNNEL The Callahan Bridge connecting Portland to Staunton, and the Lift Bridge that connects Staunton to Shoreside Vale are easy ways to get to the next island. Each only opens after a certain point in the storyline though. There's often traffic but no hoodlums. EL-TRAIN In Portland there is an el(evated) train that allows for quick movement in the area, but only appears on this island. It quickly becomes obsolete 'cuz there are minimal stopping points and this industrial isle is the tiniest of the three. No violence, however... WATER Vice City and San Andreas [two other GTA games] would eventually expand on this, but in this game, there are only a few boats to take. The bay areas're blocked off to a certain point, preventing access to other islands' waters if not opened [and even when they are]. Boats are slow and not that useful in the long run. FLYING One lightweight plane, the Dodo, can be 'flown' by the player. It's hard to do so and only found at one spot in the third island's airport. Basically, there's little reason to use it except as a challenge or sight-seeing. ________________________________________ FAILURE [FALR] ________________________________________ Failure comes in many forms, whether it's during a mission or accidentally doing something wrong. O Death, let me count thy ways... BUSTED! If you get a wanted level by the cops and allow them to knock you down or forcefully pull y'from a vehicle, you automatically go to jail and pay a fine to get out. All weapons and armor upgrades are confiscated, and the mission's failed [if applicable]. WASTED! The protagonist has a health meter of 100 (by the heart icon). When this gets brought down to zero, either through violence or explosion, he faints and is ferried to the island's nearest hospital. All weapons and armor upgrades are lost and the mission's failed [if applicable] MISSION FAILED! There are a number of ways to fail a mission in addition to getting caught by the fuzz or dying outright: - Time limit expires - Killed the target/hostage - Destroyed a certain vehicle - Let a target escape - Skipped a race checkpoint on accident - Spook-o-meter is filled - Damage-o-meter is filled [bomb explodes] - Glitch [such as No Purple Nines glitch] prevents completion ________________________________________ SHOPS AND BUILDINGS [SHPS] ________________________________________ Sure there are a lot of obscure buildings like the AMCO Building and whatnot, but throughout the game, there is a handful of places that the player visits time and time again. I'll list the island and districts where found also. HOSPITAL If the character gets KO'd this is where he ends up. Ambulances and health refills are often abundant here. Portland : Portland View Staunton : Rockford Shoreside: Pike Creek EIGHTBALL'S BOMBSHOP Eightball is the friend who breaks out of prison with the protagonist at the beginning of the game. He runs a garage that, for $1000, fits the car with a bomb. When armed, the next person to ignite the engine goes up in flames. He also participates in a mission or two now and then. Portland : Harwood Staunton : Newport Shoreside: Pike Creek PAY 'N' SPRAY When the law's on your tail, there's only one friend to turn to and that's the garage that fixes the car's health and gives it a shiny new coat, making the law enforcement scratch their heads as to how y'outran 'em. This costs $1000 and works on all vehicles beside Emergency Vehicles [such as police cars, vans, military stuff, etc.] Portland : Red Light District Staunton : Newport Shoreside: Pike Creek POLICE STATION The archnemises of all criminals have a spot of their own in each district, and this is where one ends up if 'Busted!' by the bacon. Police cars [and an Enforcer in Staunton's case] can be accessed from here. Portland : Portland View Staunton : Torrington Shoreside: Pike Creek AMMUNATION Where do you run when y'need a gun? Ammu-Nation! This friendly neighborhood supplier puts weapons on the streets for low prices, and is an alternative to finding hidden packages [a worse alternative, that is]. Ammu-Nations get progressively better as each area's unlocked, but the previous ones don't upgrade. Also, some weapons [M16, Rocket Launcher, Molotov, Flamethrower] are not able to be bought through these means, 'cause there isn't one in Shoreside Vale. [Notably, the Molotov/Flamethrowers are gotten for free behind the police station, and Phil's Army Surplus store in Staunton has the rest...] Portland: Red Light District Staunton: Newport ________________________________________ SPECIAL MISSIONS [SPCL] ________________________________________ Available to the player in addition to the 65 normal missions, certain jobs allow the protagonist to moonlight in different professions. In certain vehicles, press the R3 button to start the moonlightin'. Missions end when the time limit ends, mind you; finishing requests gives time bonuses. TAXI In Taxi missions, the player finds targets, picks them up, and takes them to the destination for a fare. There's a time limit going this whole time and's a rather slow way to make dough. After 100 missions have been completed [in any order], the Borgnine taxi is unlocked near the HEAD Radio building in Hepburn Heights/Harwood. FIREFIGHTER In a firetruck, missions let the player put on the red hat and put out fires that plague street vehicles. The O-button is used to spray, while the right analog stick controls the direction. When 20 missions are successfully done, a Flamethrower pickup appears at the local hideout [this has to be repeated in each new island to get the luxury, mind you]. I should also note that this mode gives access to the rare Trashmaster and Mr. Whoopee vehicles usable in the import/export garages. These 'trucks appear only at the fire stations but may appear on the scene if something's on fire [with molotovs]. PARAMEDIC As an EMT, you find victims and take them back to the hospital -- easy stuff. The levels gradually increase as you do better, though. At Lv 12, the player's character can run without ever stopping. Ambulances can be found at any hospital, and appear when mass carnage is around also. _______________________________________________________________________________ 00) GIVE ME LIBERTY [SCN1] _______________________________________________________________________________ \ REWARD: Red Light District Hideout / This walkthrough is mostly mission-based, and in fact, that's how the game is 90% of the time. I'll insert little 'vignettes' that give an overview of the situation when need be [such as a host of new missions becoming available and such]. Les' roll! --- After the armored car heist, 8-Ball and our protagonist will jack a nearby car. Use Triangle to enter the driver's seat and the left analog/d-pad to move around. A tiny map in the lower-left corner displays the destination, a purple dot. Since the police aren't after the duo, there's no rush to get there. The garage in the Red Light District is the destination -- pull into the blue beam of light to get a change of clothes. The garage here will be the player's hideout from now on. Saving advances the in-game clock 6 hours, and the side-garage can store one car. --- Anyway... 8-Ball has a connection named Luigi, so drive to the next marked spot at our liaison's club. A guy here then sends our esteemed ex-bankrobber to pick up one of his girls. _______________________________________________________________________________ 01) LUIGI'S GIRLS [W001] _______________________________________________________________________________ \ REWARD: $1500 / Jack a car and move to the clinic where Misty's located. Don't try any funny stuff along the way, because the hospital is adjacent to the police station! Let her ride shotgun and drive back to the club's front. Bingo bango, this one's in the books. ...What? You thought it was going to be hard as crap? Wahaha... The game suggests checking out the city before taking the next mission at Luigi's club. Either option's fine, so long as yer learnin' the ropes. _______________________________________________________________________________ 02) DON'T SPANK MA BITCH UP [W002] _______________________________________________________________________________ \ REWARD: $4000 / Apparently there's a new drug hittin' the streets called Spank and someone's letting Luigi's girls sample it down by the harbor. Pick up the bat in front of the club and bootscoot down to the location. Find the guy with an arrow on his head, beat him senseless, then steal his Stallion for a ride. Next up: the Pay N Spray near Luigi's club. This place gives the car a new finish [neutralizes police warrants] and restores the car to its unbattered glory. It costs $1000, but free just this once. Step #3 -- stash the car in Luigi's lockup, across from the hospital grounds. Shove it in the garage and leave. _______________________________________________________________________________ 03) DRIVE MISTY FOR ME [W003] _______________________________________________________________________________ \ REWARD: $1000 / "Play Misty for Me" is a Clint Eastwood movie. Heheh... Anywho, Joey Leone, son of a crime family boss, wants some action with his favorite pimped-out girl located at the concrete park in Diablo Turf. Honk the horn [L3 button] and pick her up. Drive to Joey's Garage en route to the harbor area. Stop in the blue zone and meet the master of the house...err, autoshop. NOW AVAILABLE Joey Missions Joey missions will have a Ctrl+F code starting with J, so you'll know who's paying the reward. Let's finish out Luigi's junk first. _______________________________________________________________________________ 04) PUMP-ACTION PIMP [L004] _______________________________________________________________________________ \ REWARD: $4000, Pistol Buyable at AmmuNation / Some Diablo's crossing the turf boundaries to pimp extra territory, so it's time to take care of this nuisance. Joey suggests getting a weapon 'round back of AmmuNation [a weapon supplier] near the subway -- a white pistol icon will now denote this location. A red square will now appear on the map, driving near the waterfront. Run them off the road [bash into their car] to flush them out onto the street, then put 'em under yer tires. Might as well steal their uzi while there, huh? _______________________________________________________________________________ 05) THE FUZZ BALL [L005] _______________________________________________________________________________ \ REWARD: $2000 + $500+? / This is the first mission with a timer on it. Luigi wants wants to bring some of his 'clientele' to the policeman's ball, and there's 5:00 to pick up girls and escort them to the hall. The problem is cars only seat so many! You CAN bring a van for extra seating capacity but it'll handle like crap, I'm 'fraid. Four (4) girls are necessary to complete this mission, and there's a bonus in it for our protagonist to the tune of $500 for each extra girl past that. TIPS Make sure you're driving a three-seater or better. Hauling around a lady in an Esperanto, for instance, is going to be a dumb strategy. If you're having trouble making the limit [and, between you and me, when I first played, this was an issue], collect the local girls in Chinatown rather than drive around the city. Since this mission's the first real test of city topography, play it safe 'til you're confident. _______________________________________________________________________________ 06) MIKE LIPS' LAST LUNCH [J001] _______________________________________________________________________________ \ REWARD: $10000 / All Joey missions are available from 0600-14:00 One of the Forelli brothers owes Joey money, and now it's time to collect in a different fashion! He's eating up at St. Mark's Bistro and is going to get a nice carbomb for an appetizer. Steal his car and drive to 8-Ball's bombshop in Harwood. There is an eightball icon on the map, so it's not a search in the dark exactly. Fit it with a bomb in his garage. Now, CAREFULLY drive back to the destination and park the car where it was previously found. If you get so much as a dent, you'll need to hit up a Pay N Spray to fix it -- nothing less is acceptable. Park it in the correct spot and arm the bomb with the O-button. Skidaddle and watch the nice scene. ^__^ TIPS A 6:00 time limit is issued at Joey's Garage, so the player'll have to haul it through this mission. However, as said, take it slow in the last stretch or one may end up failing because of rushing. Obey the law for once, yeah? Flipping the car and seeing it explode is also a way to fail, y'know... NOW AVAILABLE Payphone Mission #1 by Dogfood Factory This isn't marked on the map, but as you near Joey's digs, there will be a ringing sound [starting at 0900 to dusk]. _______________________________________________________________________________ 07) THE CROOK [MC01] _______________________________________________________________________________ \ REWARD: $1000 / Marty Chonks runs the dogfood factory and is planning to kill the manager of a bank who keeps bumpin' up loan repayments. Enter the factory by the phone, take the owner's Perennial, and drive to meet the "blood suckin' leech". Ferry him back to the factory, watch some "striking" revelations and make for the carcrusher in Harwood [marked on map]. Looks like one special batch of puppies will get food with a special sauce in it. ^__~ If a new ride is needed at this time, break into the showroom by Eightball's Autoyard and steal the Banshee. NOW AVAILABLE Payphone Mission #2 by Dogfood Factory _______________________________________________________________________________ 08) THE THIEVES [MC02] _______________________________________________________________________________ \ REWARD: $3000 / Again, the phone only rings during daylight hours! In an insurance scam gone awry, the thieves Marty hired to break into his house are threatenin' to go to the cops. Take the Sentinel inside Chonks' factory, pick 'em up in the Red Light District, and return. They'll see our employer's point of view alright, from six feet under... Take the car to the Pay N Spray by Luigi's Club and return with it. What sort of condition it comes back in is irrelevant, so long as it can move without being pushed. =p _______________________________________________________________________________ 09) FAREWELL 'CHUNKY' LEE CHONG [J002] _______________________________________________________________________________ \ REWARD: $10000 / Some small-time noodle seller is hawking Spank now, so let's spank him right into the afterlife. If you need weapons, go behind AmmuNation which is again marked on the map. Once a piece is obtained, head for Chunky's hiding spot & shoot him dead. He has some Triad bodyguards with bats and guns, so be sure not to let our noodlebrained target escape in the chaos! TIPS If you find yourself losing this mission because Chunky flees and escapes, which isn't that impossible since no cars can go near him due to walkway restrictions, try this one on for size. Southeast of Chunk's dot, just a block away, is a Perennial parked by an alley. This is his escape vehicle! Take it to Eightball's and arm it for destruction, then park it where it was found. [He only gets in if in perfect condition, but what color paint given is irrelevant -- use a Pay N Spray if y'mess it up!]. Park it where it was found and approach Chunky from the north. He'll run away and then a boom will be heard shortly after! NOW AVAILABLE Payphone Mission #3 by Dogfood Factory _______________________________________________________________________________ 10) THE WIFE [MC03] _______________________________________________________________________________ \ REWARD: $2000 / Marty's wife is a big spender and needs to be...disappeared. She's at a nail salon near Hepburn Heights -- use the Esparanto in Chonks' compound, pick 'er up, bring her back. The disposal method this time is burial at sea! Move down to Portland Harbor, park the car by the pier, and ram into it with another vehicle to push it below. NOW AVAILABLE Payphone Mission #4 by Dogfood Factory _______________________________________________________________________________ 11) HER LOVER [MC04] _______________________________________________________________________________ \ REWARD: $4000 / Marty's wife was doing some marital infidelity, and her lover happens to be a creditor of our factory-owner's! Use the Stallion by the dogfood plant's main building and pick up the mack daddy, and ship him home. Let's just say there is a li'l reversal of fortune this time around. Run over 'her lover' for a shotgun, if you want. _______________________________________________________________________________ 12) VAN HEIST [J003] _______________________________________________________________________________ \ REWARD: $20000 / There's an armored car collecting money in Chinatown, and Joey just has to have it! It's the red dot making rounds in said district, but it doesn't make them all day, mind you. Pick up a powerful car [firetruck, van?] and build up its tolerance gauge by ramming and grinding into it. Since it's a federal van any cops that witness the attempted hijacking will follow, building up the wanted level to 2. When the gauge is full and the guards bail, steal the Securicar and drive it down to Portland Harbor where Joey's got a warehouse to store it. Careful on handling 'cause it will be semi-damaged already. TIPS Know where any police-star icons are on the street? These reduce wanted level by one star, and can help keep the fuzz off yer back...for a while. Police activity will degrade your vehicle's condition quite a bit, so it will be in the player's best interest to switch vehicles at some point. Don't worry; the target van doesn't regain health or 'win' if it gets a little head start. NOW AVAILABLE [OPTIONAL] - El Burro missions from Hepburn Heights payphone _______________________________________________________________________________ 13) CIPRIANI'S CHAUFFEUR [J004] _______________________________________________________________________________ \ REWARD: $3000, Uzi Buyable at AmmuNation / Joey introduces our protagonist to a big-player in the Mafia neighborhood, Toni Cipriani. He has some business to take care of so we're gonna drive him around, y'see? The first stop is in Chinatown to extort cash from washerwomen not payin' protection. The Triads will ambush so hotfoot it to the next map destination, a restaurant in St. Mark's. NOW AVAILABLE Toni Cipriani missions from St. Mark's restaurant _______________________________________________________________________________ 14) DEAD SKUNK IN THE TRUNK [J005] _______________________________________________________________________________ \ REWARD: $10000 / Another one of the Forellis got whacked and is stuffed in the trunk of a car near Callahan Point's cafe. This ride needs to be taken to the carcrusher in Harwood, but it won't be easy -- two goons appear when the vehicle's entered and chase our protagonist the entire way. For laughs, before you do away w/ the evidence, back up against a wall until the trunk's lid breaks off. The dead bro is visible inside. ^____^ TIPS Crushing the car is the only way to dispose of it. Destroy it...is a no-go. The best tip is pre-empting the chase, actually. You'll see by the cafe there is a little offshoot of the pavement that leads into a tunnel, and goes down by the waterfront. There's a car parked here with a driver in it, and he's part of the Forelli Bros.' gang. Ram his car to draw the other car out as well, and you can kill the two cars before even getting in the target ride. Makes the drive a whole lot simpler. Be sure they're not near the corpse car when they 'slode. [NOTE: You can't jack the brothers' cars.] _______________________________________________________________________________ 15) THE GETAWAY [J006] _______________________________________________________________________________ \ REWARD: $30000 / A bank holdup's going down and Joey's given some of his friend's the word our protagonist's a great wheel man. The job is to take place at 5:00 PM [1700h] so it pays to get to the shop early to accept it. The car everyone's going in has to be in good shape and a four-seater, too. In this case, the car one'd want to get would be small and fast, such a taxi. Anyway, pick the knockaround guys up at the St. Mark's safehouse and honk to make 'em pile in. The bank is in Chinatown and, of course, goes awry. There will be an automatic wanted level of 3, and all wanted stars have to be lost. Hit up the local Pay N Spray by Luigi's Club and move to the dropoff. Win-win! This is the last of Joey's missions for awhile. El Burro stuff can be done at this time as well, if y'want, but Toni is the next 'boss' to do junk for. TIPS If the police wreck your car, everyone will have to go on foot to find the next getaway car. Because of this, you may want to pick up some body armor [such as the one down at the harbor]. _______________________________________________________________________________ 16) TURISMO [OPTIONAL][EB01] _______________________________________________________________________________ \ REWARD: $10000 / El Burro missions are available from the payphone in Hepburn Heights, near Luigi's club. This first mission can be annoying for newcomers, because it's an illegal street race! A fast car is needed to compete with the others, and there's no better one than the Banshee near Eightball's Autoyard. Failing that, a Mafia Sentinel or something can also work. The race starts near the Callahan Bridge. First one through ALL checkpoints wins. TIPS Part of this mission relies on the player's ability to drive while knowing the Trenton area fairly well. If you keep screwing up, trace the route out of the mission and get a feel for the course. Handbraking [with R1] at highspeeds is dangerous and wastes time mostly. Tap it and use in conjunction with the Square button for best effect. If a lead is gained, press R2 & L2 concurrently to check the vehicle's rear. If no one's in the vicinity, lazy, wide turns may be employed. The checkpoints are displayed on the radar and can be driven through in any manner. Because the racers go through in one way, it may be wise to take an alternate route to avoid unnecessary roughness and degrading the car. The opponents in this race can be annoyances, spinning out the player's wheels with PIT maneuvers and gaining an early lead thus. Starting off slow and easing into it is recommended, just to keep up with the pack. _______________________________________________________________________________ 17) I SCREAM, YOU SCREAM [OPTIONAL][EB02] _______________________________________________________________________________ \ REWARD: $6000 / Some extortionists are threatening El Burro's porn industry. The weapon of choice this time is creamy, cold, and comes in different flavors: ice cream! Let's redefine 'brain freeze', yo. Pick up the briefcase bomb near Harwood to make the Mr. Whoopee icecream van appear in St. Marks' area. Hijack it without too much hassle and park it down at Atlantic Quay, the harbor area. Careful not to flip it en route, 'cause it handles like a cardboard box... Move to the designated spot, honk the horn with L3 and leave to the street. When the four members of the gang walk near the thing, blow it up! NOTES Mr. Whoopee icecream trucks are rarified to find on their own, so if you want to save this one for import/export later on, feel free to gun down the targets instead of blowing them up. _______________________________________________________________________________ 18) TRIAL BY FIRE [OPTIONAL][EB03] _______________________________________________________________________________ \ REWARD: $10000 / El Burro's ride got wrecked by some lousy Triad vandals, losing some of his irreplaceable memorabilia. Now it's time to rain fire on the gangmembers with -- what else -- a flamethrower! The pistol icon marks the dead-end alley it's located in, normally where a hidden package is. Take up arms to make a 2:30 timer start. Twenty-five (25) Triads need to be cremated within this time, and only kills with the flamethrower count toward the quota. TIPS The flamethrower has infinite ammunition, so feel free to go wild. Don't walk on any fiery corpses, however, or the protagonist catches fire also. The area by the park has gangbangers walking mostly alone, so head further into Chinatown for more clusters. Enemies in the noodle mall area and the street east of there often walk together. NOTES Triads will hate the player after this and will get aggressive if he's near them. This may be annoying in the way of getting cars, collecting hidden packages, etc. _______________________________________________________________________________ 19) BIG 'N' VEINY [OPTIONAL][EB04] _______________________________________________________________________________ \ REWARD: $20000 / Some Spankhead's stolen some adult literature and accidentally left a trail of it leading straight to him! Get in the Rumpo near the payphone and collect the orange icons on the road, which are stacks of porno mags dropped in the rush. For each one collected, the timer adds +1 second, so go fast but also carefully -- this van ain't a speed demon. When you get near Eightball's Autoyard, the trail leads up the steep street to the St. Marks area, so don't lose too much time. When the next trail goes cold by where the policeman's ball was held [near Callahan Bridge], go west. The route meanders through Atlantic Quays en route to Portland Harbor. At the very end of the trail, the crankhead is standing behind a van, and can be run over. With the stolen material back up for resale, take the van [the one driven during this mission] to the new destination, XXX Mags. Go slowly because if the thing explodes, game over, man! Follow to the destination and we're good to go. This is the last El Burro mission for awhile. TIPS Do this mission during the day, because at night, vision may be impaired due to fog. The Rumpo has poor acceleration and poor handling -- thus it's important to not overdo it. Most of the route is flatland, but the St. Marks area's able to cause trouble by having downward turns which may flip or cause the vehicle to spin out. Slow down in that area as much as possible to avoid doing this mission over! Since midtown has traffic that's a variable for time delays, this part must be done perfectly. On the way back to XXX Mags, avoid a cutacross through Chinatown. They'll be aggro and not afraid to push the vehicle's condition into the red with some hot lead. =) NOW AVAILABLE 'Turismo' can be repeated for extra money at Hepburn Heights payphone _______________________________________________________________________________ 20) TAKING OUT THE LAUNDRY [T001] _______________________________________________________________________________ \ REWARD: $20000 / By taking out the laundry, we mean taking out the laundry VANS. Wahahah! It's a pun, folks. Anyway, Cipriani's arranged for 8-Ball to help on this mission, so drop by his autoyard and pick up some grenades! There are three vans that are on routine drops, so once you find one, get out and 'nade them. After the first one's dead, they'll be tipped off and the wanted level goes up. Hit up a police bribe icon or the Pay N Spray to ditch the fuzz. These guys ain't exactly speed demons, but you'll have to figure out the road they're taking and cut 'em off. On long roads such as the one in Harwood and Atlantic Quays, this isn't too hard. _______________________________________________________________________________ 21) THE TAKE-OUT [T002] _______________________________________________________________________________ \ REWARD: $10000 / The Triads have agreed to deal, but it may be a ploy to shove a firecracker up yer rear, so pack some heat before going to the rendezvous in Chinatown. Of course, things go south pretty g'dang fast -- all three sides of the alley become blocked with enemies and they want blood. If you parked a car nearby, it's possible to run them over and be done with it; otherwise, shoot 'em like normal. The man in the fish van gets out when neared, and he's the last one to be buried. Take the cash back to St. Mark's and it's all gravy. _______________________________________________________________________________ 22) SALVATORE'S CALLED A MEETING [T003] _______________________________________________________________________________ \ REWARD: $15000 / The Triads are brimmin' with anger and it's time to get the major players in one spot and discuss a gang war. Drop by Joey's garage to pick up the limo, then get Luigi [at club] and Toni [at St. Mark's restaurant]. At this time, some triad fish vans will attack and capitalize on the limousine's slowness. The destination is Don Salvatore's place in the north, and is only a block or two away, luckily. Once at Salvatore's place, park in the garage and see some scenes. Toni will be out of missions, while the don's are in play. TIPS Pick up Toni with the limo facing east for best getawayness. Fish Vans block the entrance to the don's mansion, but if you approach from the east perpendicular street, the limousine will fit right through the blockade and ease onto the driveway road. Approach from the other side and everything'll get entangled; limos don't turn that well on tight corners, y'dig? _______________________________________________________________________________ 23) CHAPERONE [S001] _______________________________________________________________________________ \ REWARD: $10000 / While mob business goes on, our protagonist is stuck babysitting the don's beautiful [pixel-faced?] daugher, voiced by Debbie Mazar -- annoying! Time to get behind the limo's driver seat and ferry our princess around. First stop is the spankpusher Chico, down by the Chinatown waterfront. He'll drop the tip of a warehouse party by Atlantic Quays. After a bit of rumpshakin', a two-star police level will be gained as the narc squad comes to break up the fun. Hit up the Pay N Spray [or at least the bribe between Chinatown and Hepburn Heights] and make for the mansion. NOTES There is a Cheetah [fastastic car] parked outside the club. You can steal it and store it in your garage, but it won't save, I'm afraid. NOW AVAILABLE Tony Cipriani missions _______________________________________________________________________________ 24) TRIADS AND TRIBULATIONS [T004] _______________________________________________________________________________ \ REWARD: $30000 / Ooh, guest NPC shooters! It's time to take out some warlords, so let's get right on it. Grab a three-seater or better and start searching out the three warlords marked on the radar. One is out in the open, while another is found at the blocked-off part of the market where one can only enter on foot. Bring some body armor [by Portland Harbor import/export crane] for this stretch. The third part involves stealing a Triad Fish Van [many are around Chinatown] and infiltrating the factory by the Quays. You can't get in unless this particular vehicle is driven -- they can be stolen all around Chinatown, but I will mention they're not as abundant as when a mission /isn't/ going on. Once in the factory, crush the third warlord to complete the mission. _______________________________________________________________________________ 25) BLOW FISH _______________________________________________________________________________ \ REWARD: $30000 / Time to finish the Triads by making it rain mackeral, i.e. put their factory out of business permanently. 8-Ball's made a dustcart [garbage truck] rigged with a bomb. It's real sensitive, and the more things it hits, the higher chance it may explode prematurely. Pick it up at the autoyard and move it towards the fish plant. The timer is 2:30 and the quickest way to the target it through Hepburn Heights and down the long road to the Callahan Bridge, bordering Chinatown. Once inside, park between the gas canisters, arm the bomb with the O-button, and make for the exit. The timer reverts to :20 when activated, so there is no time to mess around. No more Toni missions -- it's all Salvatore from here! NOTES The hidden package found here does not blow up, and can still be obtained. _______________________________________________________________________________ 26) CUTTING THE GRASS [S002] _______________________________________________________________________________ \ REWARD: $15000 / Apparently there's a rat with connections to SPANK and the mafia. Salvatore thinks it's Curly Bob, a barkeep at Luigi's. Grab a ride and park in front of the club until our becurled friend grabs a taxi. There is no designated area to park, mind you, just do it around the corner, not in front of the building. At this time a 'Spookometer' gauge will come up as our protagonist tails the mark. Get too close and it'll rise -- if it fills up all the way, mission's a failure. If you get too far away, you lose track of him. So, find a medium and tail the guy 'til he arrives at Portland Harbor. After the scene where Curly Bob squeals, make him mud, err, blood under your tires. He carries a shotgun so don't bumrush him on foot, yo. _______________________________________________________________________________ 27) BOMB DA BASE: ACT I [S003] _______________________________________________________________________________ \ REWARD: ------ / As a personal favor to Salvatore, we need to destroy the Cartel's freighter that acts as a SPANK factory. Who else can bomb da base 'sides our hero and Eightball? Head down to Harwood's autoyard and meet up with the genius. _______________________________________________________________________________ 28) BOMB DA BASE: ACT II [S004] _______________________________________________________________________________ \ REWARD: $150000 / Good ol' Eightball says a hundred grand ($100,000) is necessary to cover all the expenses here. This is the game's polite way of telling you to tie up other missions and make some spendin' money. It's possible to have over 300k just from mission completions, y'dig? Revisit our bald-headed brotha when he has the base-bombin' boombastic bombs for our Cartel friends. He'll fork over a sniper rifle. Hold R1 to look in the scope, and use Square/X-Button to toggle the magnification. O-Button fires, of course. --- Make for Portland Harbor [pick up armor if y'want] and drive to the circle o' light. The ship's crawling with Cartel, and Eightball won't go in until the first shot's fired. Obviously, we need to get a good vantage point on these suckers. The building y'parked next to has a railing leading up to the roof -- use it. Start by the two on the entrance ramp, then start picking off the ones that lead further in. 8-Ball will duck down, but that doesn't mean his cover is made of diamond -- you'll need to work quickly or our friend gets smoked like a turkey. TIPS I know when _I_ think of sniper rifles, I think of headshots. Fortunately for the players, it's a one-shot kill weapon in GTA3. Just aim for the body and the slug tears up the enemy. No precise aiming [well...] necessary -- this also helps 'cause the snipe only has 30 shots in it! Those red barrels on the ship are explosive and can take out enemies near them. This isn't /that/ great, but a quickshot helps. Don't do this mission in heavy fog/night, or the chance of failing grows substantially. NOTES Make sure all missions are done at this point because the next one's the last in this part of Liberty City. _______________________________________________________________________________ 29) LAST REQUESTS [S005] _______________________________________________________________________________ \ REWARD: $20000 / Take a bloody car to the crusher? That's the follow-up? Well, it's more than it seems, my fair reader. As you near the destination, Maria tips the player off to a fine piece o' info: the car's a rigged deathtrap! Instead of driving the Cheetah straight into hell, meet Maria at the new [purple] destination near the Callahan Bridge. After meeting up with Asuka, Maria's old friend, float the Reefer down to the next destination, a dock in Staunton Island. NOTES For a much easier time, do your Firefighter/Taxi missions before this one. It gets a lot harder when you're shot on sight. =( _______________________________________________________________________________ WELCOME TO STAUNTON ISLAND [SCN2] _______________________________________________________________________________ A little overview of the situation now: The Triads still hate you and will shoot on sight The Leone family now hates you and their minions also shoot on sight The Callahan Bridge is now fixed and the two places are now connected! Also, the tunnel near Harwood connects to Staunton Island as well. ;p Asuka's told of a new hideout near Belleville -- four+ car garage! Emergency vehicles can be used at import/export garage in Portland Harbor Ammunation now stocks grenades, sniper rifles, AK-47s, uzis, and armor! As usual, I suggest you familiarize yourself with the city and its landmarks. It's not necessary with radar, but it definitely HELPS a lot. Head to Asuka's apartment when you're ready to continue the 2nd stretch of the game. _______________________________________________________________________________ 30) SAYONARA SALVATORE [A001] _______________________________________________________________________________ \ REWARD: $25000 / As a test of faith to the Yakuza organization, it's time to do away with the old employer. He'll be leaving Luigi's club at [current time + 3:00] and it's our job to make sure he doesn't return to his mansion alive. Here are a few ways to get completion: Use grenades to destroy his car when it approaches the mansion. This works better if (1) our protagonist is not spotted yet (2) something is blocking the entrance, such as a firetruck [near Harwood]. If his car goes kaboom, mission over. If you do this mission, lob the 'nades while standing on something [car preferably] so that Salvatore doesn't make our protagonist roadkill. Snipe Salvatore's head from the building directly east of Luigi's club. This is where the deathtrap Cheetah was placed for 'Last Requests'. Use the stairway to get rooftop access, but DO NOT jump on the ledge where everyone can see you. Eventually the guards will block off part of the sidewalk and Salvatore will stroll out -- pop a cap in his oldtastic face at this point. ^___^ TIPS As with any mission where a sniper rifle can be put to good use, I'll say that it's a one-shot kill weapon. Just get the don in yer sights and fire when applicable. Having played many precision shooter games (SOCOM, MGS...) I have an inveterate tendency to only fire when the shot's on a head; this type of thinking is unnecessary here. NOW AVAILABLE Payphone missions from King Courtney [green telephone icon] _______________________________________________________________________________ 31) UNDER SURVEILLANCE [A002] _______________________________________________________________________________ \ REWARD: $15000 / Hot on your trail, the Leone family is seeking vengeance for the patriarch's death and spying on the Yakuza to find the assassin. This practically halts operations, so let's play cleanup, hmm? There's a 6:30 time limit on this'un, and the locations are as follows: - Belleville Park [x2] - Apartment balconies near Kenji's casino [x7] - streetside van [x1] For best apartment shots, move to the top of Kenji's casino. If you brought a sniper rifle, recuse yourself to a far corner where the enemies' guns will not reach and pop heads in safety. TIPS There's no real order, except doing the park enemies first [nearest] and the balcony enemies thereafter. The van's rather easy to destroy if you've prepared... SNIPER RIFLE. I can't imagine killing some of the highrise thugs with some peashooter. Shell out the $10,000 for one and things will be gravy. Also, buy some grenades to bomb the van which is just smart. The protagonist'll always get the first strike in destroying them, FYI. NOW AVAILABLE Kenji missions at his casino ['K' icon] _______________________________________________________________________________ 32) PAPARAZZI PURGE [A003] _______________________________________________________________________________ \ REWARD: $10000 / A 'perverted voyeur' has been nosing around Asuka's apartment, and he's out in the bay as the mission starts. Steal a Predator parked nearby [denoted w/ an arrow] and move in close to the boat. The O-Button fires the ship's guns, but they're no good unless aligned with the boat. Eventually the boat slips away in Portland waters, so there's no time to lose. Continuous machine-gun fire is possible while accelerating, although if your controller's worn out, the buttons'll have to be pressed extra-hard. Mine sure did, anyway. NOTES I've tried sniping the driver and it's never worked. This CAN damage the boat some, however. Can anyone confirm a pure-snipe explosion? _______________________________________________________________________________ 33) PAYDAY FOR RAY [A004] _______________________________________________________________________________ \ REWARD: $11000 / There's a crooked cop that needs to be met. Too bad his caution makes him an almost unapproachable fellow. This is a 'payphone chain' mission like seen in the movies [Dirty Harry, for one] where the player has to drive to parts of the city, answer, and get the next instruction. There is a time limit of 3:30 here, so no dilly-dallying. 01) Payphone in Torrington [~1:00] 02) West Belleville Park [~0:40] 03) Liberty Campus [~0:35] 04) South Belleville Park [~0:40] The hardest one is to Torrington's phone. Ignore the actual park grounds and concentrate on the highway near there [upper, not the lowroad]. It may take a little work, but the mission's doable. After getting to the 4th phone, the timer expires and the player can meet Ray at the toilet block in the park at his/her own leisure. ...Doesn't he kind of look like a young Jerry Orbach? :p TIPS Take something with good handling for this mission such as the Yakuza Stinger that spawns near Asuka's pad. There's nothing that makes this mission more annoying than lazy/wide turns that run people over, gaining unneeded police attention. NOW AVAILABLE Ray missions from S. Belleville Park's restroom _______________________________________________________________________________ 34) TWO-FACED TANNER [A005] _______________________________________________________________________________ \ REWARD: $20000 / Asuka's uncovered one of her cops as an imbedded police officer, and now it's time to clean his clock. His car was fitted with a tracer, which will lead the player to Kenji's casino. There's another 'damagemeter' that fills up each time Tanner's hit. Too bad this comes with an attached LV4 wanted level! Do a drive-by on his face when possible, preferably when he's stopped himself of his own accord [for traffic, etc.] TIPS Get a fast car [Stinger?] for this'un, because the police show up ASAP to do PIT maneuvers and foul up the driving route. It's not recommended that you damage Tanner with the vehicle, since it only does minor damage. There's no real easy way to do this, but a couple things help marginally: waiting for Tanner to enter close to the Belleville area, and memorizing the Pay N Spray location. No other icons appear on the map during the mission, so that's the reason for the latter. For those that find this mission annoying, I was quite surprised to find the mission pass even when I wasn't near Tanner. Reckon this is because he was driving erratically and causing self-damage. Wouldn't rely on this as a strategy, but it _can_ happen. After this, only Kenji and Ray missions are available. NOTES There's no time limit. Even if you Pay N Spray the car, the LV4 wanted level returns upon hitting the target. _______________________________________________________________________________ 35) KANBU BUST-OUT [K001] _______________________________________________________________________________ \ REWARD: $30000 / To earn Kenji's respect and prove worth, breaking a valued kanbu out of the police station is the next mission. Steal a cop car in your preferred method [grand theft auto in front of cop, run him over, take ride?] and rig it with a bomb at Eightball's Shop near the carpark by Asuka's house. There's an icon to help navigate, mind you. Next stop's the fuzz' lockup. It's recommended you ditch the wanted levels if y'have any, 'cause they won't help this part. Pull into the destination and pass through the gate [you need a police vehicle to do this]. Once in place, prime the carbomb with the O-button and remove yerself from the blast radius. Pick up the passenger and drop him off at the dojo marked on the map after ditching the wanted level. This is a requirement as the dojo location does not appear 'til the pursuers are gone. TIPS There's a workaround for not being able to Pay N Spray the policecar -- take another car and spray it instead! There are a couple junk vehicles by the parking lot [Blista? Haha, these suck!] that you can use momentarilly to get a clean slate. _______________________________________________________________________________ 36) GRAND THEFT AUTO [K002] _______________________________________________________________________________ \ REWARD: $25000 / This mission gets name, of course, from the act of car theft. This time, as a debt being repayed, Kenji has asked our hero to 'donate' some cars to his friend. These rare models are all around the city and the catch is that they have to be in mint condition to be accepted. There are only three to hotwire, being a Stinger, Infernus, and Cheetah. Six-minute (6:00) timer! Remember, the dark-red squares represent the marks and the purple square is the destination garage. TIPS Beforehand, park a car near the Newport Pay N Spray to save some time. It wastes the timer if you have to hoof it to find new rides, of course. Don't worry about the car's condition because it's right next door to the Pay N Spray. If you do so much as dent it, the garage won't accept it -- only mint condition! A common mistake that someone may do is drive slowly to avoid damage, when the remedy is much simpler. Just have $3000 in your bank before this mission and it's good to go. If you failed the mission to steal one of these cars, that would be very understandable. Note that all these cars can be found driving around at some point, with the Stinger already available [and best car in the game, IMO] and the others as rarer commodities. _______________________________________________________________________________ 37) DEAL STEAL [K003] _______________________________________________________________________________ \ REWARD: $25000 / To fool some Cartel idiots [who already hate you, btw], it's time to disguise oneself as a Yardie posse and do 'em in. Jamaican gangmembers all drive the 'Yardie Lobo' -- y'know, a long red, white-topped car with leopard print upholstery. These are quite commonplace on the long highway north of Kenji's casino, so the search ain't too far from home. Pick up the Yakuza helper at the designated spot near Liberty Campus before driving to the rendezvous point at the hospital parking lot. When the Cartel get out to make the deal [after honking to begin], run them down and let the Yakuza guy help out. After they're dead, collect the briefcase and destroy the vehicles. Shooting the cruisers' front will catch them on fire faster, mind you. Deliver back to Kenji. Almost too easy... _______________________________________________________________________________ 38) SHIMA [K004] _______________________________________________________________________________ \ REWARD: $10000 / The protection is paying up today, so settling the accounts for the casino'll be no big deal... There are two briefcases to find on the sidewalks, but the third guy can't pay because some gang cleaned him out. They're located over in -- of all places -- Hepburn Heights across the river! The gang that took the briefcase is the Diablos. :p There are about five of them just standing around, so do some voluntary vehicular manslaughter and take the case back to the casino grounds. Low risk and low payout. <yawn> _______________________________________________________________________________ 39) SMACK DOWN [K005] _______________________________________________________________________________ \ REWARD: $10000 + $1000/per after 8 / Oh gawd, not more SPANK-pushers! If this crap gets into Staunton Island it'll degrade the Yakuza reputation, as well as Kenji's and yours. So, as a last chance to prove Asuka's word, let's play street-cleaner. Yardie pushers are all over the city, but mostly around the Liberty Campus and midtown areas. If you stray too far into Cartel area, you'll be wasting a bunch of time. When 'A Yardie is off the streets' shows up, it means one of the available targets is no longer a...well, target. Run down as many as possible! Eight (8) are needed to complete the mission, and there's a bonus for extras, too. This is the last of Kenji's missions for awhile. Now let's do Ray's stuff. :p _______________________________________________________________________________ 40) SILENCE THE SNEAK [R001] _______________________________________________________________________________ \ REWARD: $30000 / Ray's missions are available from the Belleville Park restrooms, remember. A dirty cop named McAffrey is going to turn state's evidence, which will be bad for Ray. He's got a house near the carpark that needs to be torched. Get some grenades at AmmuNation and toss them into the open window. This flushes McAffrey out in a getaway car, and he heads for the street entrance. Bomb him here or follow and do a drive-by, it doesn't matter. TIPS If you're unsure about some of this, don't park your car near the window McAffrey's in! A poor throw may bounce the 'nade back and torch your ride! A good fallback I've found is to take a gigantic vehicle, such as a Flatbed or Firetruck, and park it sideways by the entrance to the highway. Stuff it up good [with an extra if you like] because this is the escape route the cop takes 100% of the time. Then, just bomb the pileup and get rid of all evidence! _______________________________________________________________________________ 41) ARMS SHORTAGE [R002] _______________________________________________________________________________ \ REWARD: $10000 / Very useful mission, this one. Ray's old friend from the Sandanista days is getting roughed up by some Cartel swine, and they're coming back for more this time. Visit him in the mini-fortress north of the hospital and he'll let you get whatever you need. There's a Barracks OR truck to drive, a tank that has a powerful cannon, and a rocket launcher on some crates [jump on the wall and walk up to it]. Lots of ways to do this... TIPS There is body armor by the crates, on the lower side against the wall. Handguns [Uzi, Shotgun, AK-47] are by our one-armed friend RPG and Molotovs on the crates If you can blow up the three Cartel vehicles, the hardest part is over -- there are just a couple more around the north part of the building that need to be taken care of. NOW AVAILABLE Phil's army-grade weapon store in this location [Shotgun, AK-47, RPG] _______________________________________________________________________________ 42) EVIDENCE DASH [R003] _______________________________________________________________________________ \ REWARD: $10000 / A friend with exotic tastes [necrophilia!?] has some embarrassing photos that are being driven across town, and need to be disposed of. To get them back, we're going to have to ram the evidence car to make pieces fall out. Luckily for us, they can be picked up without leaving the car. After six (6) pieces have been collected, it's time to burn the car in some way. TIPS Use a fast car for this mission, such as a Stinger, to outrun the cops that show up [wanted level 2]. It helps that the prosecutor's car happens to go in an area high in sportscar material, so you can switch halfway in between and not lose a step. Remember that each piece of evidence has to be bumped out and collected for the next one to spring loose. You can't drop all the evidence right off the bat or anything. NOW AVAILABLE Donald Love missions now available ['D' icon on map] _______________________________________________________________________________ 43) GONE FISHING [R004] _______________________________________________________________________________ \ REWARD: $15000 / Ray thinks his partner's a double-crosser and wants his ambitions sunk to the bottom of Portland Harbor. Our target's a fisherman, which means this will be another fishin' expedition. Steal a policeboat [Predator] near Asuka's digs or the dock used in 'Last Requests' and pursue the lech! The target's near the lighthouse in the first island's waters, so this may be a long trip overall. TIPS It's possible to accelerate and have continuous machine-gun fire at the same time, but if the controller's worn, these functions may not work as well, thus endangering the mission's success. Hold them down firmly! Watch out for the explosive barrels he throws overboard. Run into a couple of those and it'll be the player visiting Davy Jones' locker... [They float for awhile after the mission's completed, as well!] _______________________________________________________________________________ 44) PLASTER BLASTER [R005] _______________________________________________________________________________ \ REWARD: $10000 / Our hero screwed up somehow and all those explosions and whatnot didn't kill a previous witness! A federal deposition is on the way, and he's being moved from the hospital near Liberty Campus! The man's in an ambulance and there's another damage meter to fill up! Once spotted, there's a wanted level 3 issued, so time's off the essence. The man in a full-body cast will fall out onto the street at this point and can be run over. If he visits the hospital again, it'll be for an autopsy... This is the last Ray mission for awhile... Onto Donald Love! TIPS Why bother screwing with vehicles when you can buy an RPG at Phil's surplus store and just nuke the ambulance in one go, knocking the guy out? It's a lot easier, let me tell you what... _______________________________________________________________________________ 45) LIBERATOR [DL01] _______________________________________________________________________________ \ REWARD: $40000 / One of Donald's friends is being held by Colombians in an attempt to extort more money from the millionaire. Too bad they've got something coming and it ain't monetary payback. Jack a Colombian gang car [Cartel Cruiser, the blue souped-up cars that drive around the construction area] in order to get in the place. With a cruiser secured, entering the Aspatria compound can be done. Run down all people [switching cars as needed, there are a few around] until the grounds are clear. The 'Old Oriental Gentleman' is in a garage that doesn't open unless the protagonist's on foot, so be ready to kill him; or, jump right back in the car and mow our mean foe down. ^___^ The hostage is always in one of the west garages, even though other ones can open and reveal enemies. Take him back to Love's building to complete. TIPS The Cartel already hate your guts, and if you bang up their wheels, they will most likely flee. However, if you block their traffic route off with something else, they'll stop and can be jacked like any other sellsword, err, sellgun. If you find yourself dying in the crossfire, get some body armor and the Cruiser beforehand to cut some time. Don't use a shotgun or you may hit the hostage! You might wanna keep the Cartel vehicle for the next mission, too. _______________________________________________________________________________ 46) WAKA-GASHIRA WIPEOUT! [DL02] _______________________________________________________________________________ \ REWARD: $30000 / D. Love wants the Yakuza's waka-gashira [leader] to be neutralized to make a good real-estate buy, and that means offing our mushmouthed friend Kenji Kasen! Steal another Cartel Cruiser from the Fort Staunton area and go to the multistory carpark to off Kenji! He's at the very top, and all it takes is running everyone down or using the drive-by option. Because people are going to be firing and vehicles mashing, make sure the cruiser's in top shape -- use the Pay N Spray behind the carpark to ensure this. The suggested method of hit-and-running is approaching Kenji's position from the north, running him over, then using the roof ramp to vault off the place and down to the street. With any luck, the cruiser flips and explodes, at which time the wanted level of 3 disappears automatically, too. Otherwise, you'll have to dump the car after leaving the Newport area. TIPS Do not get out of the car at all or the Yakuza identifies you and finishing the mission becomes but a dream! NOTE If you kill Kenji before finishing his missions, THEY CANNOT BE DONE AND YOU CANNOT HAVE 100% MISSION COMPLETION! This should be obvious, but c'mon, use yer noggins, please. _______________________________________________________________________________ 47) A DROP IN THE OCEAN [DL03] _______________________________________________________________________________ \ REWARD: $10000 / Certain commodities are hard to import, and D. Love is having an aircraft pass over the bay and drop those 'certain' things into the water. It's very important to pick them up, so find a boat pronto. There's a 2:00 time limit for this [scheduling conflict?] -- head down to Asuka's place and pick up any ol' junker floating. The red dot is where the packages will be dropped, and the yellow one is the plane. There are six packages dropped in all, and the wanted level boosts up to 5! Hurry and hit up the Pay N Spray by Asuka's house to ditch these clowns, or it'll be a cold night in a cell for you. Then, it's a smooth ride back to Love's condo. A mission for Ray opens up at this time that requires access to Shoreside Vale, but first, let's finish Love's stuff. TIPS Bring body armor! There's a good chance, at least by my observations, that spawned cars [Banshee, Yakuza Stinger] near the waterfront may not bother to show up! There's nothing worse than getting gunned down because the game time is off. The car you drove up in is probably the one you leave in -- remember! The timer only indicates the countdown until the plane is in range. By then, the player should have gotten a boat, visually identified the plane, let it pass over, and started tailing it from behind. NOW AVAILABLE More Ray missions Access to Shoreside Vale via the bridge (^__^) _______________________________________________________________________________ 48) GRAND THEFT AERO [DL04] _______________________________________________________________________________ \ REWARD: $50000 / The real objective was hidden on the plane all along, and D Love wants our hero to pick it up from Shoreside Vale. Francis Int'l Airport is right off the entrance road [either if you take the tunnel]. When you get there, one boxtruck will have an arrow on it. Park your car where the Colombians will not see it [their AK-47s will RIP it apart], and opt to pick them off from afar with a sniper rifle. When all are gone, get in the plane and find that the fuselage package has gone missing! One of the vans outside talks about Pan-Lantic Construction, which is where the Cartel hangs out. The destination dot will appear back in Staunton Island, so go there. Any entrance suffices because the enemy is packed in a little group by some blue-walled fences. However, going into the fray that way's a little dumb. The unfinished building near the maze gives a snipe spot, and the same goes for the large fence surrounding the construction yard. Pop all Cartel heads visible, and getting the package is a cakewalk. When the 'Take the lift to the tower!' message appears, it's definitely safe. Watch the scene and take the package back to Donald Love. TIPS Body Armor -- use it. NOW AVAILABLE Asuka missions now available again _______________________________________________________________________________ 49) ESCORT SERVICE [DL05] _______________________________________________________________________________ \ REWARD: $40000 / Donald's latest acquisition is going to be authenticated in Pike Creek, and our protagonist is going to be the bodyguard so to speak for the Securicar. There's another damage meter as well, which tells how the lead car is doing. Some Cartel hoodlums will assault a few times, so either flip their cars or drive-by 'em. Be careful not to let them or your own vehicle damage the Securicar, because it can accumulate damage by running into stuff of its own accord! Eventually, after reaching Shoreside Vale, the Securicar will pull into a garage and this one's in the bag. TIPS L2+R2 shows the aft camera to see incoming vehicles. USE IT! Brings Uzis and a heavy vehicle that can withstand attacks. Something like a Firetruck or Barracks OR [from Phil's surplus compound] will suffice. Uzis are the best drive-by weapon, of course. The only thing to worry about in this case is that the camera switches to first-person when the Securicar enters the tunnel, so don't screw up. If you followed my advice about getting a large vehicle, when in the tunnel it makes sense to drive in the middle of the two-way path. Since there's a raised median, cruisers trying to move around you may flip themselves. Stay behind the Securicar at all times, and move into position to deflect blows regarding NOW AVAILABLE D-Ice missions from Shoreside Vale payphone _______________________________________________________________________________ 50) DECOY [DL06] _______________________________________________________________________________ \ REWARD: $35000 / Donald Love's friend has been surrounded by SWAT teams, and it's time to play the part of the fox in this foxhunt. Drive to Shoreside Vale and pick up the Securicar, acting as a red herring to make sure the Oriental gentleman gets away scot-free. Three-minute timer ain't too bad, although there's a Lv. 6 wanted level the entire time! TIPS Drive into the tunnel area to get away from helicopters and any Rhinos that may normally appear for backup. When driving in the tunnel, always be against the wall in the lane you're in. This is helpful for pushing enemies over the divider and maybe flipping them in the process. Eventually the place will get full and the fuzz will make serious driving errors -- kinda funny, really. NOTES The game doesn't exactly hand you a bunch of Securicars naturally, so it's not a bad idea to save the vehicle and take it to the import/export garage in Portland ASAP. _______________________________________________________________________________ 51) LOVE'S DISAPPEARANCE [DL07] _______________________________________________________________________________ \ REWARD: $ ---- / This is just a quick scene where Donald Love is nowhere to be found in his rooftop meditation spot. What happened to him? Hmm, no one has any idea... Anyway, this _does_ count as a mission, so...whatever. <shrug> Time to do the rest of Ray, Asuka, and King Courtney's missions... _______________________________________________________________________________ 52) BAIT [A006] _______________________________________________________________________________ \ REWARD: $35000 / Catalina's got three death squads searching for our protagonist, and it's our job to lead them to Pike Creak and let the Yakuza ambush them. All three of the guerillas are located in Shoreside Vale. When neared, the vehicle will trail the player's car -- pull into the Yakuza ambush zone and wait for them to murder the opponent. Repeat this same thing for all three enemy cars. Just be sure you don't get blown up for being next to one of their cars! TIPS Do it one at a time, and go straight there. Use R2+L2 to see where the car is behind yours. I've failed the mission for leading the deathsquad person around for too long, so being concise helps here. The player _CAN_ assist in the killing inside the compound. The Yakuza men will eventually get mowed down, so you'll have to help out in some way. I believe the mission fails if Asuka's crew all dies, so lend a hand, friend. _______________________________________________________________________________ 53) ESPRESSO-2-GO! [A007] _______________________________________________________________________________ \ REWARD: $40000 / The Cartel has been using Kappa Coffee stands as a front to push SPANK on the streets, and Asuka's had it up to here (^^) with their antics. Time to break 'em into splinters. There are x stalls around _all_ of Liberty City, so it's quite a large-scale mission. Coffee stalls just have to be driven through, and the 8:00 time limit [which starts when first stall trashed] is easy to work with...assuming you're semi-familiarized with the city boroughs. Portland -> 2 Stands Staunton -> 5 Stands Shoreside > 2 Stands Anyway, start at the stand by Portland Harbor, hit the one in St. Marks, do all five in Staunton, then the last two at the airport and hospital. Not too hard, but one can certainly cut it close with the pushers firing back! There may be a cartel vehicle that shows up near Shoreside, but it can be outrun with ease. Make sure to save afterwards. <whew> TIPS Don't rush for the first stall you see -- that starts the 8:00 timer at once, and has the player at a disadvantage. I mean, Staunton Island is the middle LC district, and that would cause backtracking. Instead, cruise all districts to locate the stands and begin in Portland/Shoreside Vale so the ride is straight through. To avoid the hassle of switching cars and such, use a rocket launcher to destroy the stand. You only need 9 total, but bring some backups just in case. If you're in a race against time and have to pick which route to Shoreside, go through the tunnel. The bridge has a penchant for raising its middle section, which loses around 0:30 of time. _______________________________________________________________________________ 54) S.A.M. [A008] _______________________________________________________________________________ \ REWARD: $45000 / Missile time! Well, rocket launcher time at least. A plane is heading to the Francis Int'l Airport, and we're going to circumvent port authority by taking it down explosion-style! There is 3:30 to get to the boat at the small dock near the blip, and pocket that RPG as well. Drive out to the marker buoy and wait for the plane to circle and approach from the E/SE area [it's the yellow dot]. Fire true and smack that bird out of the sky, then collect the debris it drops. Hopefully it's all by the water and such, because I've had one of the eight (8) pieces land on top of the runway, which is a waste of time and also wastes armor because Colombians are waiting there! To boot, an automatic 4-star wanted level. Use the speedboat docked near the runway instead of the Reefer, and beat it back to land. You know where the Pay N Spray is, right? That's one option available, although the wanted level disappears when the construction site lift is reached. Player's choice! [There will be a 'Ransom' scene after this mission is done.] The last mission in the game is available, but let's do the rest of those optional ones first, eh? TIPS Body armor! If you find shooting the plane out of midair difficult, get onto the runway and down it on its approach. Same effect, really. Park a car near the dock the boat starts at. This eliminates the random factor of having to go through a sea of police cars and such. It's by no means a surefire way to escape, but it's better than any alternative [save flying a Dodo]. NOTES Catalina mission available in Shoreside Vale _______________________________________________________________________________ 55) BLING-BLING SCRAMBLE [OPTIONAL][KC01] _______________________________________________________________________________ \ REWARD: $1000/per checkpoint / King Courtney gives out missions by the payphone in Aspatria, the district by the Belleville hideout and Liberty Campus. This is another racing mission (*hears a million sighs*) but this one's different. There are 15 checkpoints used in this mission, and $1000 is awarded each time the player gets one. At least eight (8) checkpoints are needed to secure a win. Unlike previous tasks of this kind, there is no clear path to get the checkpoints -- it's very scattershot. But, even with an Infernus and whatnot as opponents, the AI is crappy and often sleepwalks through this. TIPS Use a fast car with good handling, like a Yakuza Stinger or regular. _______________________________________________________________________________ 56) UZI RIDER [OPTIONAL][KC02] _______________________________________________________________________________ \ REWARD: $10000 / Courtney's men will pick our protagonist up for a drive-by spree leading up to Hepburn Heights. They'll provide an uzi, thankfully, and also a Perennial, unthankfully... Once there, it's time to drive-by some 'filthy Diablos'! The stallions the gangbangers drive will attack, so if you need help, hit up the Pay N Spray. All fighting must be done in the vehicle, and hit-and-running is included. When 10 are killed, return back to Staunton Island at the Yardie dropoff pt. TIPS After 10 kills, use the Pay N Spray because the people in Chinatown can still capsize this mission if you take the cut-across. _______________________________________________________________________________ 57) GANGCAR ROUND-UP [OPTIONAL][KC03] _______________________________________________________________________________ \ REWARD: $10000 / King Courtney wants the ability to hit up any gang's turf 'round his 'hood, so he requires a Mafia Sentinel, Yakuza Stinger, and Diablo Stallion. These are to be taken to the garage in a Newport alleyway... Near-mint condition as always -- use the Pay N Spray to fix 'em up all purdy-like if need be. No time limit, thankfully. TIPS Mafia Sentinels drive around the St. Mark's area of Portland Yakuza Stingers are always driving around Kenji's casino Diablo Stallions hang around the Hepburn Heights are of Portland This is assuming you know what they look like. Sentinels are all-black, the Yakuza Stinger is a red-and-white Stinger, and the Diablo Stallion looks like the regular kind except with flames painted on. _______________________________________________________________________________ 58) KINGDOM COME [OPTIONAL][KC04] _______________________________________________________________________________ \ REWARD: $10000 / There's a 'stash' in an old car at Bedford Point that needs attention ASAP. There's a 1:30 time limit to get there, which isn't too hard to meet if y' take the long thoroughfare along the seaboard. Once you find the beat-up ol' crapbox of a car, enter it and see a note -- this was a setup! SPANKed-up madmen will go kamikaze on your vehicle and try to blow it along with yourself. They keep pouring out until the van itself is destroyed, so use explosives to get rid of them. There's only a couple vans in all, but all madmen must be destroyed as well to get completion. Let's do Ray's last mission at this point, eh? TIPS Bring a rocket launcher [or grenade] for good times. From the street north of the lot, there's a small stairway that gives a good [safe] outlook point over the place. You can fire without fear of any punk blowing up on y'. NOW AVAILABLE 'Bling-Bling Scramble' can be repeated for extra cash at Aspatria payphone _______________________________________________________________________________ 59) MARKED MAN [R006] _______________________________________________________________________________ \ REWARD: $20000, Bulletproof Patriot / The police seem to have a vested interest in SPANK being on the streets, so it's time for Ray to move to greener pastures. There's a 3:00 time limit to get him to St. Francis Airport, and the bridge is under surveillance. This leaves only the tunnel. There will be some enemies around here, too, but if yer quick, they can be avoided. None are by the airport terminal, luckily. Once Ray departs, he gives the key to his lockup back in Staunton. Be careful going over the bridge because some lingering enemies may hold a grudge. When you get to the garage, there's a bulletproof Patriot inside as well as a nice ammo cache! Thanks, Ray, you will be missed. ^___^ [BTW, there's $10,000 in there!] TIPS Take a fast car for this'un -- Stinger recommended. The tunnel entrance is by the hospital parking lot, remember. Certainly out-of-the-way , but safe the entire way through. If you don't like the tunnel or have trouble making the time limit, it's possible to go the bridge route. You'll have to snipe the enemies who are standing there from afar, however, or they'll turn your gastank into an IED pretty dang quick. This happens a few times down the way, and is NOT recommended unless you're severely......wrong in the noggin. o_O _______________________________________________________________________________ 60) UZI MONEY [OPTIONAL][D001] _______________________________________________________________________________ \ REWARD: $10000 / D-Ice missions are available from the Wichita Gardens payphone in Shoreside Vale. You have to take the road near Cochrane Dam and go down the decline road to the suburb. He'll want the Purple Nines in his neighborhood to get a taste of a real drive-by. The targets dress in purple, obviously, so that's how you see them. :p Find a good car and the mission will start. Two minutes and thirty seconds [2:30] to drive-by twenty [20] Nines. There will be Rumpo XLs that hassle the protagonist here, and you _don't_ get credit for gunning them down...so leave 'em alone! TIPS The Uzi used here has infinite bullets, so that's less restarting. ^____^ Use a bulletproof car such as Ray's Patriot received during the Marked Man mission. It can really improve the chances of success as there's no reason to waste time bailing from fiery vehicles. There will eventually be a bunch of Rumpo XLs that jostel the vehicle you drive...and I mean 4+! Think about taking a rocket launcher and blowing them all to hell, 'cause it'll save time in the long run. _______________________________________________________________________________ 61) TOYMINATOR [OPTIONAL][D002] _______________________________________________________________________________ \ REWARD: $10000 / With armored cars running SPANK on his streets, D-Ice is gettin' tired and's got a mind to put these sissies on blass. He's got a toybomb truck parked by the Wichita Gardens entrance street. These remote-controlled racecars drive in the same manner as their larger counterparts, except when they hit the wheels of a vehicle, they explode! Also, the O-button makes them explode no matter where they are. There are only 5 RCs in all, and three armored trucks as targets at: - Lower Wichita Heights area - Lower street of Cochrane Dam area, leading under bridge to Cedar Grove - Shoreside underground tunnel [connects to many districts] The one in the tunnel can be the hardest to get, but if you wait for the driver, he'll eventually emerge. TIPS The remote-controlled car explodes when it's out of range, also. All of the enemies are IN range, but don't try driving it to your Portland garage or anythin'. When driving an RC car, there are no options to change camera angles, so this gives impaired vision slightly. Always drive in the right lane when possible; it's easy for a vehicle to accidentally trigger the bomb. _______________________________________________________________________________ 62) RIGGED TO BLOW [OPTIONAL][D003] _______________________________________________________________________________ \ REWARD: $20000 / So punk jacked D-Ice's car and stuck a bomb in it. Problem is, all the wiring is screwed up and it's tickin' to its end. His cred's shot if it goes, so the job of diffusing it goes to our hero. Pick up his Infernus near the Wichita Gardens safehouse and use the underground tunnel as a quick route to St. Mark's district. There's a 6:00 time limit for all this, and a hypersensitive 'Detonation' gauge as well, which is basically a souped-up Damage-o-meter. It really only takes a few wrecks to send our hero to the morgue, so be cautious the entire way! When the bomb's diffused, the timer ends [whew!] and the car can be taken to Wichita Heights again. Make sure it's in perfect condition or delivering it's impossible! TIPS In the tunnel, watch out for randomized lane-switchers! The Pay N Spray in the Red Light District bottoms-out the Detonation meter! If you need the PNS in Shoreside, it's in a small lot south of the police station [across street, not down backramp]. The tunnel is really the safest way here, because the Mafia will screw you over upon getting to St. Mark's' garage. It helps to keep the Detonation gauge low, and this is how y'do it. _______________________________________________________________________________ 63) BULLION RUN [OPTIONAL][D004] _______________________________________________________________________________ \ REWARD: $25000 / A Federal Reserve flight carrying lots of bullion smashed down at Francis International, so D-Ice is commissioning our hero to pick up the litter and drop it off at his garage. There's a 6:00 timer, and 30 pieces of platinum need to be picked up to finish. The problem is too much will weigh down your car's speed, so for optimum excellence here, something uber-fast like a Cheetah is a good idea. D-Ice recommends taking them in small quantities -- in fact, groups of 4 prevents the police from catching on [but isn't worth it on principle]. TIPS The timer only starts when you get in a vehicle, so if you really want to save time (like really-really), walk up to the hospital district and jack something fast there. :p For every five bricks within the car, a wanted level is gained. _______________________________________________________________________________ 64) RUMBLE [OPTIONAL][D005] _______________________________________________________________________________ \ REWARD: $10000 / In the final showdown with the Purple Nines, D-Ice has arranged for his baby bro to help out and take 'em down. Meet said sibling in the Wichita Gardens' safehouse parking lot and pick him (and a bat) up. The rumble goes down at the picnic area in the scenic trail at lower Wichita Gardens. There are a lot of Nines here but only two of you! Heheh... Anyway, ONLY BATS can be used to beat these fools [x9] up. Pretty simple as they all walk right into range in clumps. TIPS Full health + body armor, obviously. There's both pickups behind the police station in the Cochrane Dam. If you need refuge, hide on top of a car or something. Beware, though -- if you try to let D-Ice's bro do all the killing, you can still get a failure message about you not using a bat. o_O NOW AVAILABLE 'Rigged to Blow' mission can be repeated for extra cash at payphone _______________________________________________________________________________ 65) THE EXCHANGE [CAT1] _______________________________________________________________________________ \ REWARD: $1000000 / The lone mission for Catalina is the game's final one. This does not appear until $500,000 has been collected, however; remember, it's the money that'll be used to save Maria in accordance with the ransom note found during Asuka's last mission. Drive into the ring at the Cartel mansion in Cedar Grove when ready to take this. --- To start things off, Catalina betrays you, takes five hundred grand and all the protagonist's guns. She then sics her lapdog gangbangers on you. One'll be dead and you get his pistol. Don't use it; instead, run to a Cartel Cruiser and run over the opposition to take their guns. There's a 7:00 time limit ticking here. A helicopter beckons our hero to follow, but there isn't any penalty for sidetracking. It's possible to return to your hideout and get your weapon stock back once more, and even take the shortcut off the little hill right by the safehouse to get in line for where the helicopter leads to: the mid-level area of the dam. Once you get to the mid-level area, explode the cruisers blocking the entry point [or drive through] and proceed up the footpath. In the grassy part's a sniper rifle pickup that is there even when not in a mission. Kill all 6-7 of the guard standing around. Remember, the sniper's a OHKO if it fires true [it can't blow up vehicles, though o_O]. Climb up on the crate where one was standing and pocket his AK-47. Jump down, collect the health refill icon, and kill the sentry at the second tower. When you get close enough, a cutscene takes place where Catalina enters the copter and starts to leave. Don't worry -- she circles the place a couple times [3] before you fail. Plenty of time to poke holes in that thing. Watch out for the flamethrower guy behind the Barracks OR that doesn't move, mind you. When all enemies leading up to the helipad stairway are cleared, move up to there and shoot the two enemies, one being a flamethrower. If you shoot 'em from the stairwell, they won't even approach! They're those glowing white bundles that look like cocaine packaged in masking tape. They're found all around Liberty City, often in weird/obscure places. For each ten found, there's a pickup of some sort unlocked at ALL hideouts, meaning more packages, less cash & time spent. There are three boroughs in all, so I'll just go in order since that's easier. BEST TIP YOU WILL RECEIVE: Don't start collecting the packages until you're ready to keep track. Doing them as you find them is the quickest road to a swift, painful adventure in backtracking and re-checking. Don't forget those are playing for the first time: most locations' landmarks ARE the packages, so if they're already gone, you may think you're in the wrong place. Hopefully this way is a lot more palatable for those lookin' to find [e-mail me for clarifications, even]. [01] - Roof of Sex Club 7 in Red Light District [use back stairway access] [02] - Building roof east of Sex Club 7 [back alley has roof access] [03] - Tunnel near Eightball's Autoyard [04] - Planter in Hepburn Heights parking lot (where El Burro payphone is) [05] - Inside Trenton dogfood factory compound [06] - Chinatown, roof of building near park [alley has stair access] [07] - In the small Hepburn Heights park near payphone [08] - Base of Hepburn Heights apartment west of payphone [fence/ramp within] [09] - Inside fish factory near Atlantic Quays/Callahan Point. Triad Fish Van needed to enter through gate, but one can get a van [etc.] and jump in via the roof. [10] - Near Callahan Bridge entrance, south of billboards and fence. [11] - The roof of sawmill plant near Atlantic Quays. Jump the fence around it in some manner, then approach east end where a small ramp gives access to the roof. Follow west until the highest point. [12] - Roof of gas station in Harwood, near Eightball's Autoyard. Jump the fence onto a side-building and jump from there. [13] - Concrete pier in Atlantic Quays [14] - St. Mark's, behind the building on the part of the street with cones and potholes. [15] - Salvatore Leone's house, north balcony [16] - Jump onto roof of SupaSave [mart near Portland Beach/Harbor]. [17] - West of the hideout, follow north along the white pavement into the Hepburn Heights park area. Follow the waterline to the end! [18] - Building alley near Chinatown park, the one with lots of boxes in it [19] - One block south of the Harwood gas station in a small parking strip that curves around a building. [20] - Building near Callahan Bridge entry that has a fence around it. There is a rampage and police bribe within, too -- package is on east side. [21] - Red Light District building that has breakable glass showcase windows [22] - On Sex Club 7's roof in the Red Light District, you can jump SW onto another roof with a package. [23] - Small fenced-in parking lot by Joey's Garage [Trenton] [24] - Get on the el-train tracks at any stop and run to the Trenton area. Look for a gray-topped building near some smokestacks. Jump off the tracks onto here. An easy way is to walk out onto a rusty-colored beam and leap from there. Look for some pickups (Armor, Health, etc.) and the package will be next to them. [25] - In Chinatown, enter the marketplace blocked off by metal posts so no vehicles can get inside. One of the alleys will lead into a bunch of boxes and the package. [26] - At Portland Harbor go up the stairs near where the Cartel freighter was, and get on the roof. The building adjacent has an awning, but there's a sizeable gap to do it. There's an adrenaline pill around the base of this [stairway] building by some mobile homes, which has to be used to make the jump. Package is right there. [Might be able to drive a car off there too, but never checked] [27] - Inside the dealership showroom by Eightball's Autoyard in Harwood [28] - Get on el-train tracks and head to the Harwood area. Jump onto the HEAD Radio building (it has a Flamethrower pickup as well) and search the premises. [29] - Start in Harwood and drive up the road in St. Marks that leads toward the gates to Salvatore's mansion. Alongside the road is a seating area with benches and [probably] a taxi. Drive over the roof here and into a grassy slope; package is here. [30] - On the beach under Salvatore's mansion, near the natural rock O-shape made by the rock structure. Approach from the north, climb the steep gray rock, and get the package. [31] - In St. Marks, one block over [south] from where Toni Cipriani doles out his missions is an alleyway with clotheslines and a police bribe inside. One of the small fenced-in areas has the package. [32] - Chinatown subway, near the restrooms. The subway's closed until it's possible to get to Staunton Island, mind you. [33] - Rocky 'island' just south of Callahan Point. You'll need a boat of some kind to get this, which means it can't be obtained until after Staunton Island's accessible. _______________ STAUNTON ISLAND _______________ [34] - Stadium in Aspatria, southern steps leading to the entrance [35] - Alley beside the fire station in Belleville Park/Aspatria area [36] - There's a fenced-in garage compound near the Aspatria payphone that King Courtney gives missions from. Jump the fence or use a Cartel Cruiser to gain entrance and look in a garage. [37] - In Phil's Army Surplus compound near Liberty Campus/Rockford, behind a building. [38] - In the Fort Staunton area near the four-lane bridge over the river, head toward the tunnel entrance. You'll pass under an overhang that has a package on it. Carefully walk up the side of the arch to get it. [39] - On top of Kenji's casino in Torrington [40] - The Belleville Park basketball court [41] - 2F of carpark near Pay N Spray, near a ramp [42] - Near the Pay N Spray, in a garage [near Blista spawnpoint] [43] - Under Belleville Park footbridge [44] - Just near Callahan bridge, in small dead-end garage area east of the breakable-glass mall windows. This is also the area where Ray reveals his bulletproof Patriot is after completing 'Marked Man'. [45] - On north side of the Aspatria stadium, between some billboards and the exterior siding. [46] - At the Rockford hospital, on one of the outer ledges. You'll need to park an ambulance or something to jump onto it. [47] - The building behind King Courtney's payphone has a package. Just go all the way east near the street. [48] - Inside the construction site, 2F of the red-girtered building [49] - Inside the construction site, east of the blue maze and under the half-finished building [the one where Asuka's missions came from]. It's in a corner there. [50] - En route to the twisty ramp that leads up to the Shoreside bridge, go under that road to where a parking lot is [with the entrances that have red-and-white cone things]. A package is under here in the north end. [51] - At the other dock near Asuka's bayside apartment [52] - There is one more bayside dock near Asuka's apartment, where all of the semi trailers and freight boxes are. The package is on the pier there. [53] - In the back area of the police station. You'll need to have some kind of police vehicle for the gate to open, however. [54] - At the police station, there is a small path that goes into a parking garage area below. Package is in the vacant lot down there. [55] - Find the twisting ramp up to the bridge that enters Shoreside Vale; it's near Belleville Park. There is a brown brick building alongside it. If you peek over the edge, you'll see it's possible to jump down and land on a lower roof with a package. [56] - There is a museum north of the police station that has a gigantic stairway. The hidden package is up there. [57] - By the subway entrance in Bedford Point is near a raised walkway that arcs over the street. Package time! [58] - Go straight south from the twisty path leading to the Shoreside bridge and keep an eye out for a cathedral entrance by the highway. This one leads to a Rampage; go around the block to the other side to find the other doors. The package is around the side. [59] - There's a package in the alley by the Hyaku Dojo. To find this place, locate the cathedral [south from the twisty path leading to Shoreside bridge] and head south up the street a block. There's a gigantic sign on the building exterior, so look out for it. [60] - Locate the AMCO building -- it's west of Kenji's casino a block and a half a way. There's a small underground parking garage that can be driven into. The package is by an elevator entrance. [61] - In that same AMCO Building as in #60, the exterior has some stairs that lead up to a small rooftop. Package is in plain view. [62] - Near that SAME AMCO Building as in #61 and #62 is a breakable glass building that has a package in its 2F. [63] - In the Bedfort Point projects [which is just one block south of the cathedral], there is a streetside doorstep/indentation with a package inside. [64] - Enter inside the small parking lot near the projects (the location of bombers in King Courtney's 'Kingdom Come' mission) and there will be a package on a ledge. You can get it either by taking the streetside stairway and do an easy hop, or park a tall vehicle [Enforcer, Mule, etc.], jump a fence, then jump an alleyway to get it. [65] - In this same run-down area of #64, look by some green dumpsters for another package. [66] - Near the projects described in #64 & 65, exit back onto the street and go west along the road. There's a small footpath that leads down to a pier, and has a package there. This is the spot used in Donald Love's "A Drop in the Ocean" mission, also. Look by some cliff debris to find it. [67] - West [one block over] of Kenji's casino is a plaza with a gigantic star-shaped statue. Behind it's a package. [68] - Underground carpark near the projects [seen in 'Kingdom Come' mission] [69] - After getting access to Shoreside Vale, wait until the segment of the access bridge is lifted and move onto the large cement median dividing the roads. At its highest point, a package can be run. ______________ SHORESIDE VALE ______________ [70] - By the airport parking lot is the fire station. One's by the firetruck parked there. [71] - Down the tarmac, there's a hidden package under an immobile plane [72] - The helipad in the SW corner of the airport has #72. [73] - Still in the airport, there's one under a plane wing [74] - By the fire station is a small entrance in the fence that leads into the inner terminal dome. Along one of the walls is a package. [75] - In the very front of the airport where the road curves by, behind some billboards is another package. [76] - On Cochrane Dam's top, one of the offshoot path goes to a dome with a package. [77] - There's another offshoot path leading to a 2nd dome with a package at #76's location. [78] - At the locked door at the bottom of Cochrane dam, by the red building in the park, a package is near its door. [79] - At St. Francis International, at the end of the large runway. It's found on the lower side, not on the brightly-lit part. [80] - St. Francis has a smaller runway as well with another package to be claimed. Don't go down the length, though; it's the western reaches near the helipad that have it on a small sideramp dock. [81] - In the lower area of Wichita Gardens, there is a dirt path that leads to some picnic tables. There's a package here to claim. [This is the location of the 'Rumble' mission from D-Ice.] [82] - Go around the side of the Wichita Gardens safehouse and look for the Toyz van near a billboard. Package is behind it. [83] - On the lower square-shaped street of Wichita Gardens that goes around the bridge [leading up to safehouse], one of the apartment doorsteps has a present for you. [84] - In lower Wichita Gardens [the area where D-Ice gives his missions], a package is by the the base of two apartments that are close together. [85] - Near the Airport/tunnels but before entering the Pike Creek district, look for a dirt path that leads to a twisty ramp [like in that one James bond movie] made of wood. Instead of jumping it to land in the Wichita Gardens area, jump underneath it and get the g'dang package. [86] - Behind the Pike Creek hospital. If you don't know where this is, kill yourself! ...In-game, of course. =) [87] - East of the hospital is a place called "Burke Supply Company" that's got a package on top of a red freight box. Get a vehicle with a high back-end [Ambulance, Moonbeam, etc] and jump onto it. Alternately, do the same vehicle-collection part and leap down from the street up above it. [88] - In Wichita Gardens, locate the underground traffic tunnel. Nearby is an overpass whose bottom is all graffiti'd up. Package is on the sidewalk. [89] - Behind the import/export garage is a small fenced-in portion. Now, next to the police station is an empty lot with a ramp [used during the 'Bait' mission for Asuka as an ambush spot]. Jump off this ramp onto one of the two freight boxes stacked together, and from there, fall onto the building adjacent to the i/e garage. Drop in on the package using the spanning vent. ^___^ [90] - Behind the police station, jump on one of the fence-high roofs and get the package. [91] - In Cedar Grove, the house almost directly across from the declining road [that leads to Wichita Gardens] has a backyard package. [92] - Next door to #91's house, the front stoop has a package. [93] - Next door to #92's house, the back stoop has a package. [94] - The Helipad at the Cochrane Dam mid level has a package. [This area is used in the final mission, btw.] [95] - At the Cochran Dam area with a helipad, against the structure's side is a steep stairway. Package is up there. [This is the site used in the final mission, if you need a reference point] [96] - One block south of the police station is a giant red building with a 'Liberty Pharmaceuticals' sign. The back end has a fenced in portion one goes in on foot, and the package is there. [97] - In the small Pike Creek compound where D-Ice's had the player stash bullion [during 'Bullion Run'], which has a bunch of pink garage doors with numbers on them, behind that building is another package. [98] - In #97's area, climb up the stairs onto the roof, then jump off onto the adjacent building's awning for the next package. [99] - Enter the subway [near the airport terminal's statue] and at the tracks, jump them to the waiting platform on the other side. There is the 99th package. [100] - The empty back pool in the Cedar Grove Cartel mansion has a package. You can't get in unless driving a Cartel Cruiser, mind you. This can be done before the final storyline mission, also. _______________________________________________________________________________ UNIQUE JUMPS [QJMP] _______________________________________________________________________________ \ Total Reward Money: $2050000 / Ever seen a ramp in the middle of nowhere and been tempted to just wreck some car off of it? Maybe you should have, because scattered around Liberty City's twenty (20) jumps that give big prizes if completed. Most of the time extreme speed is needed, which calls for the big three in terms of the gas pedal: the Banshee, Infernus, and Cheetah. The Stinger is maybe 4th place, so don't use it unless tight on vehicles. __________ THE REWARD __________ Formula per jump: $5000 + $5000 * (# of jumps completed -1) ...Basically, an additional $5000 per each jump is obtained. When all twenty are done, an additional million-dollar bonus ($1,000,000) is obtained, too! ________ PORTLAND ________ Near the Chinatown waterline is an entrance to the el-train. Near it's a concrete cover for a gas main [or something] -- either way, it can be driven off. The grass is lumpy so be careful on the approach. Just jump the width of the track and it's over. This is the easiest jump here, so any vehicle can probably make the leap o' faith. In Chinatown by the subway entrance, a ramp is propped up. Use it to shoot over the center median of the el-train tracks in one go. Whether or not it gets cleared is irrelevant. Near the entrance to Callahan Bridge, there's a sawmill down the street [the one that has a Rumpo spawning by it]. Next-door to it is a garage with a single ramp on its east side. Use that to completely jump the garage. On Callahan Bridge itself, drive up onto the span and turn around. There's a yellow- and black-striped ramp at the lane merger that's slanted and can be vaulted off of. I'm quite sure the jump's completed by clearing the 2nd crossbar in one go [i.e. without touching it]. Doing this before Staunton Island's accessible will be dang hard, if not impossible. Something like an Banshee or better can give the extra distance needed. The vehicle often goes up in flames after this one if y'miss, so save beforehand. Underneath Callahan Bridge is a grassy knoll that rises up underneath the lanes before they merge. Drive up that and clear both of the crossbars in order to make the $$$. Get a Banshee or better for this one. Also, it's possible to hit the last crossbar and still get this. In Portland Harbor's fenced-in area, a ramp is setup to clear 3 trailers by the southern reaches. Clear all of them -- easier than it sounds. Just be careful you don't flip in midair because there's no 'safety net' fence to prevent the car from tumbling into the bay. At Atlantic Quays, near the sawmill and the site of a couple missions [to name a couple, 'Chaperone' and 'I Scream, You Scream'] is a ramp propped up by some warehouses. Drive west and jump the first roof to complete it. Use the area's only concrete pier to get a good rev-up fo' the bumrush. Believe it or not, this one can be tricky because the pier and the ramp are not aligned properly -- you'll probably have to do that at the last second to reach the far building gap. At the Atlantic Quays area there's a big ramp made of debris [gravel?] that can be used to jump the water. Get one of the 'big three' speed demons and approach from the direction that the fish factory was in. You can get a big start-up run by backing down the paved waterline path. Jump _straight_ over and get the cash. As long as you make it to the pier's side, it's money in th' bank! _______________ STAUNTON ISLAND _______________ On top of the carpark near Asuka's apartment is a ramp that launches a car over two planters. Reach the 2nd planter to get the stunt recognition. Closer to Asuka's apartment is a freight yard with boxes and crates 'n' stuff. There's a gap that jets a car south across the bay and lands by another ramp. This can be tricky, because the cut-across involves going over two lumpy ramps that may hurt more than help. This is the only way that works consistently. Just watch out for getting too much speed and falling into the water. In the Fort Staunton area is a four-lane highway bridge that goes over the bay. There is no divider at first [just open water] but one eventually's made down the line. Drive the car up on that carefully and fly down the divider, which will culminate in a gigantic ramp that shoots the car out across Callahan Bridge. As long as you get to the far concrete embankment near the billboards, it doesn't matter if it's completely cleared or not. Drive into Staunton from Callahan Bridge and take the first south road. It will go near a glass building [internet cafe] with a stairway straight up the center. Drive up that and land across the street's width. A very slim car is the best bet here, even though it's a short distance. It's possible to break the glass beforehand to accentuate the stairway's placement also. It helps to block off traffic on both sides. [Regular cars won't be able to get enough speed in such short amount of time, so one of the 'big 3' is needed.] ______________ SHORESIDE VALE ______________ Near the airport runway are three yellow- and white-striped trapezoidal things used for god-knows-what, but make rather good launching pads. They are definitely THIN, though, so perfectly align on one. The easiest is the one west of the helipad, because the player can use the small-flights runway to get up major speed. Be careful not to wreck your ride on the helicopter rotors! In the airport, another yellow- and white-striped trapezoidal thing can be used as a launching pad. This jump is further west of the one nearest the helipad. You can once again use the runway to get up speed, 'cept one will have to travel under a plane -- i.e. the car has to be sleek and flat. This route's preferable to avoid traveling on the grass, which can cause the player to spin out when aligning with the ramps. [Just be careful because a plane may move into range!] The third jump like the two above (^^) is in the northwest part of this airport. The ramp needed to vault from DOES NOT HAVE AN ADRENALINE PILL OR HEALTH REFILL by it -- jumping that hangar does nothing. Instead, use the runway alongside here to get jump the NW hangar. Near the airport but before entering the Pike Creek district, look for a small twisty bridge of wood at the end of a dirt road. Get up some speed and fly over the river into Wichita Gardens. If y'need a fast car, there is an Infernus that spawns in the airport parking lot. At the airport tarmac, right near the first hangar is a large jetliner that has a loading ramp against it. Pretty short hop over the thing. The lot north of the Pike Creek police station has a ramp [as you well know 'cause it was used in Asuka's 'Bait' mission]. If you get enough speed and fly straight, you'll land in a small fenced-in area by the Import/Export Garage, which completes the jump. In the same area as the above bullet, there's another ramp in a side-alley inside the compound. There are boxes and crap that can't be destroyed... =/ Jump the street and land on or over the back-alley building of the police station that has the armor/health pickups in an open garage. Difficult w/o a 'big three' car -- use a Cheetah if possible. Finally, in Wichita Gardens/Cedar Grove, by the dirt entrance to the dam's mid-level area [seen in the last storyline mission 'The Exchange'], there's a large grassy offshoot by the declining road that vaults one perfectly to the Cedar Creek area by the lowest dam building. Land by/on the street's intersection to finish all the jumps! _______________________________________________________________________________ RC MISSIONS [RCMS] _______________________________________________________________________________ RC Missions are like D-Ice's "Toyminator" mission -- small remote-controlled cars rigged with bombs are used. These small cars handle just like their bigger counterparts, so it's not too different. Detonation takes place by pressing the O-button or driving into a vehicle's wheels. For each target that's destroyed, $1000 is earned. These missions can be done as many times as you want. And, yes, THEY DO COUNT TOWARD THE OVERALL 73 MISSIONS COUNTER ON THE 'STATS' TAB. ______________ MAFIA MASSACRE ______________ Near Cipriani's house/restaurant in St. Mark's, just west of there in a dark alley is the Toyz van. The target this time is Mafia Sentinels, which are black-windowed, black-painted sedans that drive around this area. Pretty easy to spot against the colorful vehicles. __________________ DIABLO DESTRUCTION __________________ The Hepburn Heights/St. Mark's border apartment [by the park] has an el-train stairway, and around the back of this apartment is the Toyz van. Targets this time are Diablo Stallions, easily recognizable 'cause they're the only cars in the game with flame decals. _______________ CASINO CALAMITY _______________ Near Kenji's Casino in Torrington, basically right across the street by some planters, is the Toyz van. Target this time is Yakuza Stingers, which are stingers painted red and white. Easy to find 'round here. _____________ RUMPO RAMPAGE _____________ The Toyz van is near the Wichita Gardens hideout, just on the other side of the apartment building near some billboards. The target are the hood gang cars [Hoods Rumpo XL] that are dingy-lookin' rumpos in muted colors. There is 2:00 time limit. _______________________________________________________________________________ OFFROAD CHALLENGES [FFRD] _______________________________________________________________________________ Ever entered a car and been sucke(re)d into a challenge about collecting dots whilst in a time limit? Yes, this is a section for this. THESE COUNT TOWARD THE 73-MISSION COMPLETION RANKING, just so you know. Too bad they're often a pain to complete as well... If the vehicle wrecks while the course is still going, it's automatic failure, by the way. =/ __________________ PATRIOT PLAYGROUND __________________ Found : Trenton parking lot of SupaSave near Portland Harbor Reward: $30,000 Wheels: Patriot C'Pts : 15 Time : 5:00 Gain : 0:20 per checkpoint __________________ A RIDE IN THE PARK __________________ Found : Belleville Park near the pond Reward: $30,000 C'Pts : 12 Wheels: Landstalker Time : 2:00 Gain : 0:10 per checkpoint __________________ MULTI-STORY MAYHEM __________________ Found : Carpark near Asuka's house Reward: $30,000 C'Pts : 20 Wheels: Stallion [must be stolen... =(] Time : 2:00 Gain : 0:05 per checkpoint __________________ GRIPPED! __________________ Found : Lower Wichita Gardens area, by picnic area Reward: $40,000 C'Pts : 20 Wheels: Patriot Time : 5:00 Gain : 0:15 per checkpoint _______________________________________________________________________________ RAMPAGES [RMPG] _______________________________________________________________________________ FAQ: http://db.gamefaqs.com/console/ps2/file/grand_theft_auto_3_rampage.txt These guys covered the Rampages in such great depth it's astounding. FREQUENTLY ASKED QUESTIONS [FAQZ] _______________________________________________________________________________ [Q] - How do you unlock the Borgnine taxi? [A] - Complete 100 taxi missions. [Q] - How do I get the Dodo to the Portland import/export garage? [A] - Flying it's a crapshoot, so I recommend taking the underground tunnel to prevent crosstown traffic. Surprisingly, the Dodo is dexterous; just doesn't stop immediately like other vehicles. [Q] - How do I unlock the tank? [A] - Complete 'The Exchange' mission and it can be used from Phil's surplus shop near the Aspatria hospital. [Q] - What vehicles are classified as emergency vehicles? [A] - You'll know which ones they are because they can't be used in the Pay N Spray or have radios that change. They are: Ambulance Police FBI Car Enforcer Firetruck Rhino Barracks OR [Q] - How do I get 100% Completion? [A] - Do the following: Complete all missions [including Toyz Van and Offroad Challenges] Find all 100 Hidden Packages Finish all 20 Rampages to satisfaction Complete all 20 Unique Jumps/Stunts 100 'Taxi' missions Kill sixty (60) criminals in 'Vigilante' missions Reach Ambulance Level 12 in 'Paramedic' missions Give all seven (7) emergency vehicles to the Portland Crane Finish both Import/Export garages in Portland and Shoreside Vale Taxi, Firefighter, and Vigilante missions do not have to be done in one go, i.e. consecutively. Just do 'em so that the 'Stats' file on the main menu gets up to the requisite number. _______________________________________________________________________________ VI.
