He is a great fighter and is obviously the strongest. His weapon of choice are axes. ============================================================================== VALKYRIE ============================================================================== The Valkyrie is the only female player in the game. She is very well-rounded and great for beginners. Her weapon of choice are swords. ============================================================================== ELF ============================================================================== The Elf is a very mysterious (yet fun) character. He is the fastest character, but also the weakest. His weapon of choice are rapiers. ============================================================================== WIZARD ============================================================================== The Wizard is a very cool spellcaster. I'd say he is on par with the Elf; not very strong but pretty quick. His weapon of choice are magic spells. ______________________________________________________________________________ 4] WALKTHROUGH [0400] ______________________________________________________________________________ ============================================================================== 4.01] CITY UNDER SIEGE [0401] ============================================================================== Enemies: Imperial Legion Footman, Aesatae Warrior ------------------------------------------------------------------------------ The first level was designed to be very easy and more like a training course than anything else. When you start off, turn around to find a chest. Press R1 to find some gold inside. As you make your way up the stairs, you will find your first enemies. Try out some simple combos (you haven't had a chance to buy any good ones) to defeat them. You will find large structures that the enemies are coming out of. These are generators, and the enemies will keep coming out unless you destroy it. Destroy all of the generators to stop the flow of baddies. - MULTIPLAYER INFO: Gold is an important item in this game. Gold allows you to to buy abilities. Grab all of the gold and open as many chests as you can before your friends nab them. If you want to be fair, then let everyone get equal amounts of gold so you can all be on the same level. Once the coast is clear, make your way up the large staircase. Take out the enemies that come down the stairs and head towards the room. Open the two treasure chests for some gold, then approach the statue. Press R1 to push the statue towards the wall to get a Gold Key. Go back down the stairs and before you reach the bottom, take a left when in the middle of the staircase. You'll find a dead end where you can get some more treasures. - MULTIPLAYER INFO: Food is very important when in multiplayer. If you want to be fair, then divide the food evenly by letting the player with the least amount of health to get the food. You can't necessarily share food, but let people who are dying have it. On the other hand, if you want to be evil, hog all of the food and watch as your friend slowly dies off as he complains the entire time. Fun! Return to the bottom of the staircase and to cross the bridge to the left. You will now encounter shielded enemies. Use hack attacks to neutralize their defenses and kill them. Smash the generators, then open the chests on the upper ledge to the left. After defeating all of the enemies along the path, go up the stairs to the right to find a blue aura on the ground. Step on it and in a couple seconds you will be teleported. This, folks, is a teleport pad! It, well, lets you teleport to places! You will appear on a barren platform in the middle of lava. Open the chest and teleport to the next stop. The next platform houses another chest with gold. Teleport to the last stop. You will appear in a large house. Death will appear in the center of the room. Oh no! Whenever Death appears in a level, it will stalk a character and drain their health until they die or he follows another target. To drive Death away, use a mana blast by pressing R2. Remember, you must have at least half a bar of mana to use a mana blast. If you don't have enough mana, avoid Death until you do so. Grab the food in the chests and teleport back to where you started. - MULTIPLAYER INFO: Whenever you encounter Death, it will keep following you until you drive it away. If you're mad at a friend, seclude him so Death will continue to drain health away from him. Intentionally don't use a mana blast until he is sapped away to nothing. On the other hand, fair players want to eliminate Death as quickly as possible to keep everyone healthy. Back on the main path, head down the road and take out the archers. Destroy the generators and continue down to the circular area. Open the last chest which contains more gold and press R1 next to the switch. This will open a large door revealing a purple beacon. This is the level exit, so when you're ready, step into the beacon to end the level. Woo! - MULTIPLAYER INFO: The first screen will show rankings on how you all did in that level. It will show things such as: number of enemies killed, number of generators destroyed, times died, amount of gold recieved, etc. Whomever places first in the most categories will get more stat points. Therefore, you should want to do the best in each of the levels so you can get these special bonuses. Go all out while playing with your friends. After you successfully complete a level, your ranking will appear. If you are playing with other people, the first screen will show who did best in the level. There are several categories, and whoever did best overall recieves extra stat points. What are stat points? The next screen explains that. You are able to level up your attributes with stat points. You can level up Damage, Mana Regen, and Health. --> Damage increases the amount of damage you deal. --> Mana Regen increases the amount of mana you regain while standing still. --> Health increases the amount of HP you have. You can distribute your stat points to the three attributes. The most basic way is to try and round everything off so you don't have any real disadvantages (good idea for beginners), but experiment and see what you like. The third screen displays character abilities (see section 5 for list of abilities). You can purchase new abilities with the gold you obtained in the level. ============================================================================== 4.02] DUNGEON PASSAGE [0402] ============================================================================== Enemies: Imperial Legion Footman, Imperial Guard Footman, Imperial Sorceror, Forest Insect Spawn (Skeletal) ------------------------------------------------------------------------------ It's time for another short level! Walk forwards while taking down the shielded enemies. When you reach a pit, use projectile attacks to hit the switch on the other side of the chasm. It will raise a bridge, letting you continue across. Destroy the generators and avoid the many traps in the open area. Some grates on the floor will shoot fire, so watch out for colored tiles. There are three chests on the side of the room; past giant crushing stones. Wait until they rise up to the air (after landing), then run under them and grab the chest. Collect all three gold stashes and continue on down the passage. - MULTIPLAYER INFO: Be an ass, knock your friends into traps! Traps are the best way to spark confrontations with your friends in this game. Or you can even team up with your buddies and help knock enemies into the traps. The choice is yours. Continue down until you reach the next semi-large room. Destroy the generators here and watch out for the spinning saw blades on the wall. Open the chests and head on through. Go on to the next room and take down the enemies. Open all of the chests and you should notice a force field in the corner of the room. You need a key to get by, and the key is in the next room. Walk up on the raised platform in the center of the room and press R1 to hit the switch. This will activate a teleport pad. Step on it to teleport to the next room. Once you're in the next room, destroy the generators and wait until you have full mana. Open the chest to obtain a Silver Key. Death will appear right after you open the chest, so hopefully you have enough mana to drive him away. Walk through the hallway back to the previous room, then walk into the force field to deactivate it by using the key. Open the fancy looking chest to obtain an armor upgrade! Woo! Not only do you sport a new look, but your defense has increased. If you are playing with friends, everyone will get an armor increase. Open up the other chest for a Magic Key. Return to the room where you found the key and use your newly obtained Magic Key to deactivate the barrier. Head down the passage and take down all of the foes in your way. Avoid the acid pools (and try to knock enemies into them) and open the chests for more gold and food. Head out of the room and take down the enemies across the chasm with ranged attacks. Hit the switch on the other side of the chasm to the left. This will make another bridge appear. Proceed across and take down the shielded enemies here. Once all of the generators and enemies are dead, head through the level exit at the end of the passage. ============================================================================== 4.03] PLAGUE TOWN [0403] ============================================================================== Enemies: Aesatae Warrior, Aesatae Sniper, Druid, Morbis, Rune Monster, Forest Insect Spawn (Skeletal) ------------------------------------------------------------------------------ As soon as the level starts, pick up the chest to the right. The road will fork right ahead; go up to the dead end. Throughout the level are oil pots on the side of the road. If you hit one, they will knock over, spilling out molten lava onto the street. This is a good strategy for holding back enemies or if you want to be an ass and hurt your friends a little bit. Don't knock it over now; walk forwards and take down the generators and the enemies. You can't cross the chasm now, so head back. Take the other pathway at the fork and continue blasting through enemies. Open the next chest ahead and walk over to the chasm. You must lower the drawbridge, but first take down the enemies. There is an oil pot next to the drawbridge lever. Knock it over to keep the foes at bay, then press and hold R1 next to the lever to lower the drawbridge. - MULTIPLAYER INFO: You will have to do many things in the game where one player must concentrate on doing something. Help out that person by constantly protecting him while he does his job. In this situation, take down the enemies while the player lowers the drawbridge. Continue on once you can cross. Open all of the treasure chests as you proceed and go on, while killing the enemies in your way. In the next open area, destroy all the generators. Opening the chest next to the generator will trigger Death to appear, so be prepared. Open the chest to get a Silver Key and take out Death. Open the other chests for some gold and food. The fancy chest contains a weapon upgrade, hooray! Ignore the giant wooden door for now and continue down the path through the town. Defeat the enemies that run out of the houses and grab all of the goods in the chests along the way. You will find snipers on the side of the road; use projectiles to take them down. Once you reach another open area, a challenge will start. You will have to defeat a certain number of enemies for the Magic Key to appear. Ignore the snipers at first and concentrate on the generators. Once all of the enemies are killed, the Magic Key is yours. Proceed down the path until you come to the next open area. You will have to fight a battle now; the second of the Emperor's seven sorrows and the first of his evil advisors. By the way, the first sorrow is the fact that the Emperor betrayed the heroes, so don't get confused! ++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++ BOSS: Scarecrow The Scarecrow is very easy for your first boss. He will start off by summoning a crowd of enemies onto the battlefield, which include Morbis spellcasters and Forest Spawns. Only concentrate on the little insects because they can overflow you in a hurry. Even though they are tough, ignore the Morbises. - MULTIPLAYER INFO: If you have a full party, have two concentrate on the Scarecrow while two take down the surrounding enemies. Even if you don't have that many players, try to split everything up to make a safe trip even safer; it'll definitely help you out in the long run. The Scarecrow attacks so slowly that you should have no problem defending against his attacks. He can only slash at you with his hooked arms, and even those don't deal a lot of damage. To be honest, the biggest threat are the enemies that he summons. You must concentrate on the big guy though to stay alive (and finish the battle, of course). Use some strong combos that you (hopefully) bought after the previous levels. A great tactic is to use the oil pots around the field to your advantage. Knock them over to deal damage to him and even take down lesser enemies. Once you defeat the Scarecrow, you will get a Gold Key. ++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++ With the Gold Key in hand, continue from the battlefield down the road. You will end up back near the entrance of the level. Lower the bridge and you will appear at the dead end in the forked road. Make your way around the level again by going down the road. There will still be enemies here, so keep your guard up. Once you reach that large wooden door, use the Gold Key on it and exit the level. ============================================================================== 4.04] SHIPBUILDER VILLAGE [0404] ============================================================================== Enemies: Pirate, Hua ------------------------------------------------------------------------------ As you enter the new (and very short) level, head down the grassy path. Take out the oncoming pirates and destroy the generators. Grab the chest in the corner for gold and turn into the houses. Take out the generators and the pirates, then head to the back of the room. Navigate under the guillotine blades and hit the switch at the end of the hall. This will lower a drawbridge, letting you continue on. - MULTIPLAYER INFO: When going through the guillotine hallways, it's best to do it with one person. The hallway can get crowded and there is not a lot of room inbetween guillotine blades. You wouldn't want to knock a friend into the blades, would you? Go to the left and head down the path to find some more gold in treasure chests. Destroy all of the generators and grab the chests beyond. Head past all of the houses and down the road. Keep taking down the pirates as well as Huas. Once you reach the small field, defeat all of the enemies and destroy the generators. The gate ahead will open up, revealing not only a path but more enemies. The enemies are a bit harder than the other enemies in the level, so stay on your toes. - MULTIPLAYER INFO: The stronger enemies can sometimes overwhelm you. Have one person use mana blasts or special D-Pad moves to keep enemies at bay while others hack and slash through. Take them out and continue on. Defeat all the enemies to open one last gate, where you will find several chests. Open them up and defeat the horde of baddies, then step through the level exit. *yawn* ============================================================================== 4.05] SUNKEN HARBOR [0405] ============================================================================== Enemies: Pirate, Pirate Captain, Hua ------------------------------------------------------------------------------ Defeat the Huas once you first enter the level as well as the generators, then continue on. Once you reach three chests, only open the two on the side. The chest in the center contains Death, so unless you want to mess with your friends, don't open it. Continue through the village as you pummel the pirates and Huas along the way. You'll find pirate archers along the series of connected platforms. Use your projectile attacks to defeat them. Move along until you find a teleport pad. It's sealed behind a barrier, so continue past it. Run past to the next room and defeat the pirates inside. You should find a switch in the corner of the room. Activate it to open the pathway to the portal, then head into the teleport pad. You will be teleported to a square area with generators all around. Split up and take each of them down. Proceed to the dock where the drawbridge is raised. Instead, head to the left and defeat all of the enemies. Once you reach the circular area, take down the generators and enemies. Once empty, walk over to the large catapult. Press R1 to send a pile of burning wreckage at the pirate ship, lowering the drawbridge. Return to the drawbridge and proceed across onto the ship. Defeat the pirates on the front of the ship and head up the stairs. Go across to find more pirates to slay. Head to the back of the ship to find two treasure chests and another fancy chest. Open the two chests for gold and the fancy one for a weapon upgrade! Take out the generators nearby and continue off of the ship. Head down the walkway and take down the enemies until you approach three chests. The left one contains Death, so avoid it and open the other two. Activate the last catapult to destroy the gate ahead, revealing the level exit! ============================================================================== 4.06] ANCIENT FOREST [0406] ============================================================================== Enemies: Insect Spawn, Mud Corpse, Rune Monster, Twisted Woman, Biped Host ------------------------------------------------------------------------------ Whoop-de-doo, a giant circular level. How boring. Anyways, once you enter the level, head down the forest path. Defeat the small skeleton creatures and take down the generators. Continue through, killing the Mud Corpses, Rune Monsters, and Insect Spawns as you go along. All of the enemies are easy, so no problem. Once you reach a large door, make sure the coast is clear before opening it. Press and hold R1 to open the large wooden door. - MULTIPLAYER INFO: You will encounter several of these doors throughout the level. It is best to protect the person opening one from enemies. Either take out every enemy before attempting to open, or have one open the door while others fight the enemies. Once you open the door, continue through. You will find Twisted Women perched up on the raised ledges in the sides of the area. - MULTIPLAYER INFO: Twisted Women are a pain in the ass. There are usually at least three together at all times and they always throw skulls at you from above. You can never reach them with normal attacks. Have one player use a mana blast on them while others take out the enemies on the ground. Things can get really hectic with Twisted Women around, so be careful. Be careful around Twisted Women and make sure to take them out first with mana blasts or special attacks. The pots and chests provide you with food. Once the coast is clear, open the door and continue on. Defeat the enemies (including Biped Hosts) and open the treasure chests up ahead for some more goods. Destroy the generator in the corner and head past the hedges. You can't enter this area yet, so just pass on while taking down generators. At the end, collect the gold and food from the stash of chests in the corner. Continue along the forest road. Open the next door and destroy the enemies, and grab the chests under the Twisted Women. Open the next door and continue to slay more hordes of enemies. Several Twisted Women will appear on the tree trunk. They are low enough to be attacked, so kill them using lunge attacks. Open the chest for a Magic Key and step in the teleport portal. Great, now you're back at the level entrance. Continue through the level, opening all of the doors again (and even defeating more enemies). Make your way back to the area that was sealed by the force field. Use the Magic Key on it and step inside the battlefield to start a boss fight. ++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++ BOSS: Twisted Man The Twisted Man is a hell of a lot harder than the Scarecrow, let me tell you that. He is very strong and usually takes out half of your health with just one blow. The enemies surrounding you don't help either. Before you do anything though, first listen to me. Do not go up the stairs near the boss! Stay down near the field and head to both ends of the area. Destroy the generators here to stop the flow of enemies. The Twisted Man will not follow you unless you go up the stairs near him. Take out the generators on either side of the boss before trying to fight him. When the coast is clear, move up the stairs to take on the evil tree man. The Twisted Man is powerful, but slow. Take his low agility as an advantage in this battle. He will take some time to attack you, but unblocked attacks will devastate you. If you block all of his attacks, you will suffer no damage. You may get knocked to the ground, but your HP will be fine. His low sweep is the weakest of the bunch. His normal attack will deal a moderate amount of damage. The Twisted Man's uppercut attack will not only take out nearly half of your health, but it will also knock you down. - MULTIPLAYER INFO: This battle was basically designed for multiplayer. His lack of speed allows a group to surround him and pummel him with mana blasts and special attacks. The Twisted Man will also be busy targeting random players, so have a player guide him near an area with food and fight him there. Attack, eat food, and attack more. Rinse and repeat. The tricky thing about this battle is the Twisted Man's last attack. If you stay away from the boss, he will suck you in and bring you closer to him. Not only that, but you will be dizzy and left vulnerable for another attack. This is why running off to get food is hard. Try to lure him over to an area with a lot of food and try to keep him there. Also, don't bother going up near the level portal, because enemies will come out of the portal and attack you. So, don't worry if you die once or twice in this battle. Keep pounding him and the big guy will fall. ++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++ Once the Twisted Man succumbs to the forest, head on through the portal. ============================================================================== 4.07] STANDING STONES [0407] ============================================================================== Enemies: Aesatae Warrior, Aesatae Sniper, Druid, Morbis, Rune Monster, Insect Spawn ------------------------------------------------------------------------------ Walk out into the large field in the level entrance. Grab all of the chests and destroy all of the generators here, then make way to the large boulder. Press and hold R1 to push the boulder out of your way. Walk past it and up the hill to a small camp. Take down the Aesataes here and open the fancy chest for a Weapon Upgrade. Once all of the enemies are dead, a Magic Key will appear. Go back down the hill after collecting the key and go right this time. Use the key on the barrier and proceed through. Continue down the small path, defeating the Morbis and Druids that challenge you. Break apart all of the generators that you find before continuing on. Once you reach a dead end, there will be several small stones next to energy paths. All of the energy lines are connected to a large boulder next to a cliff. There are hordes of enemies here as well as generators here, so clear the area first. You must push each small rock in front of the energy paths, severing the bond with the boulder. Once all energy paths are severed, the large boulder will fall off of the cliff and create a bridge for you. - MULTIPLAYER INFO: There are two ways to solve the rock puzzles through the level. You can either make things go faster and assign each person a rock to push. Have each person push a rock to break the bonds much faster. You can also have one person push all of the rocks while the other players defeat the enemies and protect the pusher. This is a lot harder, since there are so many bad guys here. Walk across the makeshift bridge and grab all of the gold from the chests to the right. Continue on and fight your way up the mountain. There is another camp on the side on a small hill. Make your way up there, defeat the inhabitants, and collect the goods from the chests. Go back down the hill and proceed around the winding path. Destroy all generators and enemies in your way until you reach another stone set. There are a lot more enemies here than at the last puzzle, so use mana blasts to cut the numbers down. Take down all generators to stop the enemies here. Once the coast is clear, push all five of the rocks inbetween the energy bonds. Once all five energy lines are severed, the boulder will fall and create a bridge for you. This time, the bridge leads to the level exit. Head through the portal to end the level. ============================================================================== 4.08] STONE GOLEM [0408] ============================================================================== Enemies: Aesatae Warrior, Druid, Morbis, Insect Spawn ------------------------------------------------------------------------------ This whole "level" is just one boss fight, so it's a real short one. ++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++ BOSS: Stone Golem You cannot hurt the giant Stone Golem until the Morbis ontop of the pillars surrounding the battlefield are dead. There are other enemies present during the battle, but they should just be ignored. Since you cannot damage the golem, just avoid him and go after the Morbis. You can't reach them up on thehigh pillars, so lure the Stone Golem over to a pillar. It will end up crashing through the pillar, sending the Morbis to the ground. Avoid the golem while you kill the Morbis, which will weaken the Stone Golem a bit. There are several of these Morbises, so you must repeat this process over and over again. A good strategy is to use your mana blast constantly. Once the Stone Golem knocks over a pillar, use a mana blast to not only clear the area of enemies, but also kill the Morbis. - MULTIPLAYER INFO: The enemies can certainly overwhelm you, but when in single player mode, ignoring them is your best option. On the other hand, having friends to play makes things much different. Have one or two players lure the golem and take down the Morbis while the remaining players follow them, killing the enemies along the way. The Stone Golem is very easy and you shouldn't get hurt by the boss at all. Keep defeating those Morbis to weaken the Stone Golem more and more. Once all of the pillars are rubble and the Morbis are dead, the Stone Golem will be destroyed. Yippee! ++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++ The level ends when the Stone Golem is defeated. ============================================================================== 4.09] IMPERIAL CITY [0409] ============================================================================== Enemies: Legion Footman, Legion Lieutenant, Sorcerer ------------------------------------------------------------------------------ You will start the level out on a small and narrow dock. Slay all of the Imperial soldiers and make your way to the larger area. There is a force field blocking the exit of the pier though. Make your way to the right and out onto the dock. Open the chest at the end to find a Magic Key. Once you open the chest, you will be swarmed by more guards. Take them out as well as any generators and go to the left docks. There are two, and you will find two more Magic Keys there as well. Once you have all three, use them to open the force field. Head into the city. Take down the generators and enemies on both sides of the staircase, then ascend the stairs. Grab the gold from the chests at the far right and continue through the city. Destroy the enemies and generators as you make your way up the floors of the city. - MULTIPLAYER INFO: There are insanely large amounts of enemies through this level. Remember to always team up and work together to take down as many as you can at one time. As you reach a higher level of the city, Imperial archers will become more common. Take them out first and block frequently against their long-range attacks. Destroy the generators and open the chest for some gold. Now proceed on when the coast is clear. Once you reach a teleport pad, step on it. You will be transported to a large room with several treasure chests, filled with food and gold. The fancy chest in the middle of the room holds a weapon upgrade, so get it before teleporting back. Make your way down the hallways into a large circular room. Another force field is blocking the exit, and waves of enemies will appear. Use mana blasts to clear the room of enemies and some generators. Go up the stairs on either side of the barrier and destroy the generators. Lieutenants come out, so make sure you take those generators out first. You can find a chest on the upper level as well. I doubt you ate all the food in the secret room, so you can return there via teleport pad if you find yourself dying. The last wave of enemies are Sorcerers. use special attacks to eliminate them quickly. Once all generators and enemies are gone, the barrier opens up. Now you can head through the exit. ============================================================================== 4.10] IMPERIAL PALACE [0410] ============================================================================== Enemies: Guard Footman, Legion Footman, Guard Sergeant, Sorcerer, Mud Corpse ------------------------------------------------------------------------------ Destroy all of the generators that release shielded footmen in the first room. Next, pull the three levers to deactivate the force fields surrounding the two chests and to reveal a teleport pad. The chest in the center holds Death while the other one has some gold in it. Once the coast is clear, teleport to the next room. The next room holds several more generators. Other than that, pretty blank. Destroy the generators and teleport to the next area. You will arrive in the kitchen, yay! Continue through as you eliminate the enemies in your way. Attack the generators resting near the fireplace and destroy them to reveal a teleport pad. Step on it to teleport to the ledge above, where you're not only safe but you can find some gold. Collect the goods and return to the kitchen. On the other side of the fireplace is a stack of crates. Push them to the side to find a secret passage leading to yet another teleport pad. Step on it to be transported further on. You will appear in the palace garden. Mud Corpses will confront you, so take them out as you move on. Destroy the gates to find treasure chests. One chest holds a Magic Key, so make sure you find it quickly so you can get out of here! Now head through the barrier up ahead and continue on through the teleporter. You are now in the final room. Turn the crank wheel to the left of the entrance. It will raise a set of stairs and releases more Mud Corpses in the room. The wheel right next to the entrance will lower a platform down to the ground. Sorcerers will pour into the room now. Don't even bother taking down the enemies; just run to the upper levels. Open the chests for gold (one contains Death, beware) and activate the last wheel next to the giant face to reveal the level exit. ============================================================================== 4.11] THRONE ROOM [0411] ============================================================================== Enemies: Guard Footman, Legion Footman, Legion Lieutenant, Sorcerer ------------------------------------------------------------------------------ The first room hosts four towering statues. They seem harmless, well, until they come to life! Every time you destroy a generator, a statue will come to life and attack. - MULTIPLAYER INFO: These statues can be really tough to handle with one player. When teaming up, have someone fast distract the statue while the heavy hitters attack it from the back. You'll have to take down four of them, so things can get pretty heated. Once you destroy all four statues and all the generators are gone, walk up the stairs and destroy the generators up here. Lieutenants will pour out of the stairways, but ignore them for now. Go over to a lever on either side and hold R1 to close off the stairway. The lever across from it will close off a second stairwell when used, leaving you safe. The final chamber will open once both stairs are closed off, so enter to fight another one of the Emperor's sorrows. ++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++ BOSS: Grand Magistrate This battle is pretty simple, for this dude is just like a wizard (not some hulking giant monster thing). The first thing you should do when the battle starts is to open the fancy chest to the side for an armor upgrade. The Grand Magistrate will fling lasers from the tip of his fingers. You can easily block these and attack after he fires. The Grand Magistrate also has powerful magic spells that affect the entire room. You can't block them, so just take it like a man. Since the Grand Magistrate is human, treat him just like a normal enemy. Your best bet to winning this battle is to use counterattacks to stun him. While he's stunned, go in for the attack and use powerful moves to take him down quickly. The only thing that I advise you to do is save your mana for after the battle; it's for a good reason. ++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++ Once the Grand Magistrate dies, Death will appear. I told you to save your mana, so use it now against Death. Once it's gone, go over to the throne and push it to the side. There is a hole in the ground which leads to the level exit, so drop down to finish the level. ============================================================================== 4.12] IMPERIAL DUNGEON [0412] ============================================================================== Enemies: Guard Footman, Legion Footman, Guard Sergeant, Sorcerer, Bone Skeleton ------------------------------------------------------------------------------ Ah, another pathetically short level. First off, step on the teleport to reach behind the force field, then wipe out the generators. Make life easier by knocking the enemies into the various spike traps assorted around the area, eh? Continue through the dungeon and collect the gold from the chests until you reach a large room. You must defeat a large amount of enemies before the force field will go down. Good thing there are holes in the area, letting you knock foes into the pits. The challenge should not be too hard. - MULTIPLAYER INFO: Believe me, I know from experience: it's really fun to knock your friends into the various traps in the level. But when fighting the hordes of enemies, help each other out and gang up on foes. Use some teamwork to knock enemies into the gaping holes. The barriers will deactivate once the enemies are all dead. Head towards the path and take down the generators at the bottom of the stairs. Take more goodies from the treasure chests and avoid the spike pits as you continue through. Once in the next big room, open the chest at the end to obtain a Magic Key. Now step into the teleport pad to be transported behind the force field in the previous room. Open the chests for gold and food, then flip the switch to deactivate all barriers. Return to the room where you got the key and head on through the level exit. ============================================================================== 4.13] DUNGEON DEEPS [0413] ============================================================================== Enemies: Guard Footman, Guard Sergeant, Legion Footman, Legion Lieutenant, Sorcerer, Troll ------------------------------------------------------------------------------ Flip the switch near the entrance of the level to open the gate ahead. Destroy the generators as well and proceed through the dungeon. Eliminate more generators here until you come to a wall with a switch on it. Use projectile attacks to hit the switch on the back wall. This will lower the bridge beyond. When you reach a trio of chests against another wall, don't open the center one unless you want Death to pay you a visit. Continue across the bridge and destroy the soldiers that pursue you. Destroy the generator in the back of the room while avoiding the toxic gas that pours out of the floor. Pull the level on the wall to open a gate on the opposite end of the passage. Head on back and destroy the generators. Once you find another switch, you will open a gate behind you back across the bridge. Head on through the newly opened passage. Defeat the enemies and take down the generators, then activate another frickin' switch which opens a door behind you back across the bridge again. Gosh! In the new room, head on past the enemies and teleport into the next area. Head on through the hallway and defeat the Imperial soldiers in the circular room. Teleport on when the enemies are defeated to encounter a horde of Trolls battling Imperials. They fight each other on their own, so stay to the side until the numbers dwindle, then attack both sides. Head on upstairs through the hallway and destroy more generatros while the Trolls and soldiers fight. Teleport to the next area where only Trolls reside. Use the fire traps to defeat them easier. Once the path is cleared, proceed into the final chamber. ++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++ BOSS: Great Troll Your first priority is to head in the back of the room and get the weapon upgrade from the fancy chest. Then turn and face the Great Troll. He is pretty much just a beefed up version of a normal ol' Troll, which makes the battle pretty damn easy. He doesn't have any special attacks but he can summon Trolls onto the battlefield. - MULTIPLAYER INFO: Split up gang! When fighting the Great Troll, have some players deal with the big ugly dude while the others are busy fighting the minor Trolls. When someone is dying, consult to the back of the room where you will find food. Use up all your mana to kill the Trolls while inflicting damage to the big one. Your special attacks work nicely in this fight. But yeah, this battle is laughably easy. You won't break a sweat during it. Especially since there are fire traps lying around the level where you can use the damage the Great Troll. Once he's dead, step into the level exit. ++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++ ============================================================================== 4.14] UNDERWORLD CROSSING [0414] ============================================================================== Enemies: Legion Footman, Legion Lieutenant, Sorcerer, Troll, Gargoyle, Flying Gargoyle ------------------------------------------------------------------------------ Cross the bridge and destroy the generator as well as the Trolls up ahead. Use launch attacks to destroy the generators up on high ledges. Once all are gone, you will get a Silver Key. Whoopee! Continue along the main path until you encounter some Gargoyles. They are tough, but you don't need to fight them. Whether you kill them or not, head through the teleport pad behind where they are. Now you will appear near a giant statue of a woman. Pummel the generators and head to the upper level. Use the Silver Key on the left switch to light a torch in the statue's hand. Return to the teleport pad. Continue along the main path as you defeat the enemies. More Imperial soldiers will fight Trolls, so run past them and open all the chests at the bottom of the area. One holds a Gold Key. Return to the giant statue via teleport pad and activate the right switch to light the torch in her other hand. Once again, teleport to the main path and proceed on. Continue past where you found the Gold Key and destroy all the generators. Once you reach a dead end, open the chests, and you'll find a Magic Key. Teleport back to the statue. Use the final key on the middle switch. This causes an army of Trolls to storm to your position. I advise that you simply get the hell out of there and bolt back to the main path. From here, return to where you found the Magic Key and go through the level exit. ============================================================================== 4.15] DEEP FORTRESS [0415] ============================================================================== Enemies: Legion Footman, Legion Lieutenant, Sorcerer, Troll, Gargoyle, Flying Gargoyle ------------------------------------------------------------------------------ Head to the open area and defeat the Trolls here. Go up the stairs and kill the Gargoyles, then rid the clearing of generators. Open the chests and follow the path to a room with crystals in it. Take out all the enemies here before activating the crystals. Once the coast is clear, press R1 next to a crystal to activate it. Before it goes out, activate the last two to open a barrier leading onto the next portion of the level. Return to the staircase in the previous area and go up them. Destroy the generators and get rid of the enemies before the next set of crystals. Activate the next three crystals while avoiding Trolls that come into the room. You can find some food in the back of the room. Once all crystals are activated, head through the newly opened path. Destroy a trio of generators beyond the crystals. Slash your way through the enemies and head up the nearby stairs to defeat the Imperials before they can make a big scene. Once at the top area, attack the several Imperial generators as Trolls make their way into the room. Activate the next set of crystals as they battle each other. The final area has one last set of crystals to activate. After that, the level exit will appear. ============================================================================== 4.16] CALDERA [0416] ============================================================================== Enemies: Troll, Biped Host ------------------------------------------------------------------------------ Once again, this is a level with nothing but a boss battle. But hey, this is the final level! So the Master of the Cauldron is the only thing that stands in your way of completing the game! ++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++ BOSS: Master of the Cauldron This whole stage consists of one boss battle; the final boss. The Master of the Cauldron lies in a giant lava pool. The only way to damage the giant demon is to set off four ballistas. The final boss hurls fireballs at you, which are a big pain. He will also create lava that rains on top of you. At the start, open the fancy chest for your final armor upgrade and head to the right. Defeat the Trolls and head towards the first ballista. There are two switches on the giant weapon. Hit both of them to load the ballista. Hit R1 next to it to fire a massive arrow into the Master of the Cauldron. - MULTIPLAYER INFO: It's a good idea to have several players in this battle. Not only can they help you fight the hordes of enemies, but you will also need protection while raising the many bridges in this battle. The more the merrier, right? The next ballista is farther on. Use the lever to raise the nearby bridge, then continue while destroying generators in the way. Attack using the second ballista and raise the bridge up ahead. Continue across the bridge until you reach the third ballista. Defeat the Trolls and Biped Host generators, then use the third weapon to damage the Master of the Cauldron. The final ballista is past another chasm. There is no lever to raise the bridge though. Push the two stones next to each other to reveal a teleport pad. Teleport to the final ballista, where you can deliver the finishing blow to the Master of the Cauldron. Yay, the game is over! ++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++ Well, that's it! Watch the end of the game. I hope this guide has helped you. ______________________________________________________________________________ 5] ABILITIES [0500] ______________________________________________________________________________ X = X Button [] = Square Button /\ = Triangle Button ============================================================================== 5.1] WARRIOR [0510] ============================================================================== ++----------------------------------++----------------------------------++ || WEDGE || DOUBLE WEDGE || ++----------------------------------++----------------------------------++ || Cost: N/A || Cost: N/A || || Input: Hack || Input: Hack, Hack || || Buttons: [] || Buttons: [], [] || || || || || Wedge is a simple hack attack. || Double Wedge is the same as || || it is his most powerful standard || Wedge except it is stronger than || || attack. || the standard attack. || ++----------------------------------++----------------------------------++ || TRIPLE WEDGE || TREE CUTTER || ++----------------------------------++----------------------------------++ || Cost: 200 || Cost: N/A || || Input: Hack, Hack, Hack || Input: Slash || || Buttons: [], [], [] || Buttons: X || || || || || Triple Wedge is the strongest || Tree Cutter is another standard || || form of the Wedge attacks. [0700] ______________________________________________________________________________ ============================================================================== 7.1] ENEMIES [0710] ============================================================================== Here is a list of all the enemies of the game, where they appear, and a small description of them. ------------------------------------------------------------------------------ AESATAE WARRIOR ------------------------------------------------------------------------------ Found: City Under Siege, Plague Town, Standing Stones, Stone Golem Warriors are the most common of the Aesatae encountered and the easiest to defeat. Due to their lack of armor, most can be killed with one or two blows. Wherever they appear, Aesatae warriors pour from every house and alley, sometimes in never-ending numbers. Defeat Aesatae warriors while going after higher priority targets such as sniper, druids, and Morbis. Do not spend too much time trying to clear an area of warriors as there will always be more. ------------------------------------------------------------------------------ AESATAE WARRIOR ------------------------------------------------------------------------------ Found: Plague Town, Standing Stones Aesatae Snipers rarely stand on the ground near the heroes; they prefer to perch on raised platforms, rooftops, and ledges, where they can fire their crossbows in safety. Use projectile attacks to take out snipers in between killing warriors. If the sniper's perch is close to a road, use a special attack or mana blast to wipe them all out at once. ------------------------------------------------------------------------------ DRUID ------------------------------------------------------------------------------ Found: Plague Town, Standing Stones, Stone Golem Druids are Aesatae spell casters. They retreat from the heroes as Standing Stones quickly as possible and fling magic projectiles to inflict damage. They can teleport out of harm's way or directly in front of a hero for a surprise attack. Alrhough they carry no shields, they have high stamina and can withstand even several hacking attacks. Use projectile attacks to throw a druid off balance, then move in close and use a special attack to finish them off efficiently. ------------------------------------------------------------------------------ MORBIS ------------------------------------------------------------------------------ Found: Plague Town, Standing Stones, Stone Golem Morbis are Aesatae shaman and necromancers who wear beak-like helmets and blue or red robes. In the Standing Stones and Stone Golem stages, some Morbis wear purple hoods with horns. Morbis lend their power to the Scarecrow and later to the Stone Golem, in service to the new evil gods. Morbis attack at close range by emitting a cone-shaped burst of force that inflicts a small amount of damage and can knock a hero to the ground. They attack at a long range by flinging skeletal insect spawns at the characters. Morbis have high stamina and can suffer many attacks. They retreat quickly from approaching heroes. Use projectile attacks to lower their agility, then quickly move in and strike with special attacks. ------------------------------------------------------------------------------ COMMON PIRATE ------------------------------------------------------------------------------ Found: Shipbuilder Village, Sunken Harbor Pirates appear in many styles of dress. Most are armed only with cutlass swords and do not carry shields. They can be easily eliminated with just a few attacks. Pirate Archers are usually quick a bit more resiliant against damage than other types. They retreat the heroes until cornered, then they lash out with a quick jab meant to throw the hero off balance more so than damage. Use projectile attacks to make an archer stagger in pain, then quickly close the distance and use hacking or special attacks to finish them off. ------------------------------------------------------------------------------ HUA ------------------------------------------------------------------------------ Found: Shipbuilder Village, Sunken Harbor A race of native hunters from a deep jungle regions, the Hua have been enslaved by the pirates and forced to defend the smuggler's hideouts and docking locations. Hua have more stamina than standard pirates and attack with great leaping moves. Use hacking attacks to defeat single Hua more quickly. When facing several Hua at once, use special attacks to diminish their numbers quickly. ------------------------------------------------------------------------------ LEGION FOOTMAN ------------------------------------------------------------------------------ Found: City Under Siege, Dungeon Passage, Imperial City, Imperial Palace, Throne Room, Imperial Dungeon, Dungeon Deeps, Underworld Crossing, Deep Fortress The lowest ranking and most common type of Imperial encountered wear gold armor with red undergarments. Legion Footmen can be armed with swords, maces, bows or spears, and some carry shields. They are easily slain as long as they are not defending. To break the defense of Legion footmen carrying shields or spears, use hacking and special attacks that claim to break blocks. Another way to make a defending Legion Footman lower his guard is to stand and defend. When the Legion Footman moves to attack, strike quickly with a slash and follow up with hacking attacks. Legion Footmen equipped with very large shields are often posted at the ends of passageways to prevent the heroes from going forward. They maintain defense and cannot be damaged until all the generators in the area are destroyed, at which point they move in to attack. This type of Legion Footman attacks frequently and does not protect himself against attacks as fiercely as other shielded footmen. Legionnaires equipped with bows tend to stand their ground as the hero approaches, and lash out with a quick blow capable of knocking the character to the ground. Avoid this by using projectile attacks at medium range to knock the archer off balance, then move in quickly and use hacking attacks to defeat them. ------------------------------------------------------------------------------ LEGION LIEUTENANT ------------------------------------------------------------------------------ Found: Imperial City, Throne Room, Dungeon Deeps, Underworld Crossing, Deep Fortress Tall and daunting, Lieutenants are the most dangerous soldiers in all the Imperial army. Their armor and stamina are such that they do not need to carry shields. They are often equipped with long swords or powerful maces. Use special attacks when attempting to defeat Lieutenants. Try to knock them off their feet so that they are not always pursuing the heroes. ------------------------------------------------------------------------------ GUARD FOOTMAN ------------------------------------------------------------------------------ Found: Dungeon Passage, Imperial Palace, Throne Room, Imperial Dungeon The royal guards protecting the inner hallways of the Imperial Palace and dungeon levels wear gold armor and green undergarments, indicating their advanced level of skill, higher stamina, and greater attacking power. Guard Footmen may carry swords or maces. Most of them carry shields, making them highly defensive foes that are difficult to eliminate. Use hacking attacks to break blocks and perform special attacks to take out large groups of Guard Footmen. ------------------------------------------------------------------------------ GUARD SERGEANT ------------------------------------------------------------------------------ Found: Imperial Palace, Imperial Dungeon, Dungeon Deeps Royal guards with blue capes draped over the shoulder are the commanding officers of the palace regiment. They often lead the charge against the heroes, as well as the Troll armies attempting to invade the lower levels of the palace. Most Guard Sergeants carry swords and do not hold shields. They can be easily knocked down, but their higher stamina requires several attacks to reduce. Guard Sergeants are not a major threat, and can be gradually dispatched while focusing on throngs of Guard Footmen. ------------------------------------------------------------------------------ SORCERER ------------------------------------------------------------------------------ Found: Dungeon Passage, Imperial City, Imperial Palace, Throne Room, Imperial Dungeon, Dungeon Deeps, Underworld Crossing, Deep Fortress One to four Imperial Sorcerers somtimes accompany legions and guard squads. Sorcerers prefer to retreat to the sidelines and attack the heroes with magic projectiles fired from the hands. At close range, a Sorcerer may attempt to bash the heroes with a staff. When Sorcerers are present among hordes of Imperials, the heroes' chance of survival is greatly diminished. After destroying nearby enemy generators, single out and eliminate Sorcerers as soon as possible. Their high stamina requires the use of special attacks delivered at close range to eliminate them in the most efficient manner. ------------------------------------------------------------------------------ BIPED HOST ------------------------------------------------------------------------------ Found: Ancient Forest, Caldera Biped Hosts are unfortunate humans that have been overtaken by hideous parasites, which ensnare the nervous system and transform the arms into long, sharp-ended appendages. Biped Hosts move swiftly and have the uncanny ability to attack between a hero's attacks, interrupting combos and rendering the character vulnerable to follow-up attacks. Feeling no pain, they have higher stamina than most other monsters. Use special attacks to wipe out numerous Biped Hosts at once. Identify which generator Biped Hosts spring from and eliminate them before others. ------------------------------------------------------------------------------ BONE SKELETON ------------------------------------------------------------------------------ Found: Imperial Dungeon Reanimated beast corpses utilized by Imperial Sorcerers, these skeletal creatures are too weak to withstand the attacks of the heroes. They can be easily hacked to pieces while going after more dangerous opponents. ------------------------------------------------------------------------------ FLYING GARGOYLE ------------------------------------------------------------------------------ Found: Underworld Crossing, Deep Fortress Flying Gargoyles assume hovering hovering positions just off the sides of high ledges. They attack by spitting fireballs at the heroes. Sometimes Flying Gargoyles too clsoe to the edge can be taken out with a single slashing attack. Otherwise, use projectile attacks to eliminate Flying Gargoyles that cannot be reached with melee weapons. ------------------------------------------------------------------------------ GARGOYLE ------------------------------------------------------------------------------ Found: Underworld Crossing, Deep Fortress Gargoyles are stone statues magically given life by dark forces threatening to overtake the ancient Elven underworld. The statues come to life when approached. Use the opportunity to get the drop on the Gargoyle and score the first attack. Due to their stony exterior, Gargoyles can take quite a bit of damage before finally dying. Use hacking attacks and special attacks to eliminate Gargoyles more quickly, especially when they appear in packs alongside other foes. ------------------------------------------------------------------------------ INSECT SPAWN ------------------------------------------------------------------------------ Found: Dungeon Passage, Plague Town, Ancient Forest, Standing Stones, Stone Golem Insect Spawns are tiny scorpion-like magical creatures that cause little damage and are easily destroyed. However, when they appear in large groups of other types of enemies, their attacks can cause the hero to stagger slightly and become vulnerable to follow-up attacks. Destroy the generators Insect Spawns eminate from to prevent them from creeping up on the heroes at the worst possible times. Insect Spawns appear in skeletal form in most of the stages. They can be created and thrown by Morbis wizards working with the Aesatae barbaric hordes. They infest some dungeons and crawl out of holes in stone walls. ------------------------------------------------------------------------------ MUD CORPSE ------------------------------------------------------------------------------ Found: Ancient Forest, Imperial Palace Mud Corpses are magically animated fiends created from the bones of buried humans and soft clay or mud. Drawing their materials from the ground, they resemble the wilderness area in which they are created. Therefore, Mud Corpses encountered in the Ancient Forest stage are quite different in appearance from the Mud Corpses encountered in the garden area of the Imperial Palace. Mud Corpses carry a branch and use it as a club to attack, or they will simply attack the heroes with their long arms. Mud Corpses are not difficult enemies to slay. ------------------------------------------------------------------------------ RUNE MONSTER ------------------------------------------------------------------------------ Found: Plague Town, Ancient Forest A stupid and easily controllable monster, Rune Monsters are often summoned to this plane of existance by Morbis sorcerers working among the Aesatae tribes. They also appear in boar form in the Ancient Forest stage. Rune Monsters are small, overweight creatures that run at a moderate pace, much like oversized hounds. They attack from a low position. The boar form that appears in the Ancient Forest is the strongest type of the Rune Monster, capable of sustaining several hacking attacks before keeling over. ------------------------------------------------------------------------------ TROLL ------------------------------------------------------------------------------ Found: Dungeon Deeps, Underworld Crossing, Deep Fortress, Caldera Led by the Great Troll and created by Caldera, two of the most deceitful of the former Emperor's six advisors, the Troll army is a massive force that seeks to overrun the world of men and feast upon the flesh of all mankind. Most Trolls carry large clubs and move in to attack with rapid speed. Some trolls have greater stamina, yet there are not distinguishing physical characteristics to differentiate them. Therefore, when attacking a Troll it may take five attacks to kill it or just two. Weaker Trolls with less hair often take up stationary positions on the sidelines and throw skulls at the heroes. They can be eliminated with one or two slashing attacks, or with projectiles. At close range, this type of Troll may attempt to swipe the hero with a rather slow, avoidable attack. Reddish skinned Trolls with barrels of gunpowder strapped to their back will try to position themselves next to the heroes. They then light the fuse of the barrel and plug their ears until the explosion. When a Bomber Troll explodes, it is killed and all heroes and enemies in the surrounding area suffer severe damage. Bomber Trolls can be killed with two or three attacks if the heroes' weapons have been upgraded a few levels. ------------------------------------------------------------------------------ TWISTED WOMAN ------------------------------------------------------------------------------ Found: Ancient Forest Once a lady of high court in the land, these wretched women have become just as hideously misshapen as the Twisted Man, the second of the six evil advisers. Twisted Women usually take up positions on raised ledged or toppled tree trunks, from where they fling skulls excavated from human graves at the heroes. When Twisted Women surround an area in the Ancient Forest, the heroes chances or survival are greatly reduced. Use projectile attacks to eliminate these fairly weak creatures easily, or move close to their locations and use special attacks or mana blasts to eliminate many of them at once. ============================================================================== 7.2] BOSSES [0720] ============================================================================== Here is a list of all the bosses of the game, jam-packed with strategies. Yippee!
