Game: Formula One 2001
Type: FAQ/Walkthrough
For System: PlayStation 2
This document is copyrighted 2002-2003-2004 to Joni Philips.
Keep in mind that this FAQ/Walkthrough is completely finished when I put the
short sentence \"Version Complete\" on top of the FAQ and the version number is
changed to Complete or an abbreviation of the word like \"Com\".
This is my 28th FAQ and I would appreciate it if you send tips and questions to
wamd3992 [at] tiscali [dot] be or my second e-mail address fa354230 [at] skynet
[dot] be. If you can talk Dutch by sending me a Personal Message on the forums
of Gamed (www.gamed.nl) and Game Mania (www.gamemania.be\\phpBB2). Anime fans
can contact me at Anicom (www.anicom.org and www.anicom.org/forums) where my
nickname is Chi Chi.
Please don\'t add me on MSN if you want to ask questions about the game;
everything I know about the game is in the FAQ. You can add me if you want but
send a little mail who you are, where you found my FAQ and things like that. My
Microsoft Messenger Address is fa354230 [at] skynet [dot] be.

big enough, I might consider updating it despite that.

4- Miscellaneous [A400]
=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=
===============================================================================
4.1- Extra Disk [A401]
===============================================================================
On this extra disk you\'ll find official footage from FIA Formula 1 2000 World
Championship. It\'s a collection of the best pictures of the entire race. You
can choose from all the Grand Prix and then you can choose Interactive and
Continuous (pictures shown with breaks or without)
===============================================================================
4.2- Review [A402]
===============================================================================
-------------------------------------------------------------------------------
For a better review of Formula One 2001, you just have to look at
www.gamefaqs.com where I posted my better review of the game. It isn\'t perfect
but it is decent.
-------------------------------------------------------------------------------
Overall score: 8/10 For a diehard gamer or F1
Controls: 7/10 fan (the sport) is this a
Graphics: 8/10 game worth buying and
Originality: 8/10 certainly now it\'s
Extras: 9/10 available as platinum game.
Sound: 8/10
Durability: 8/10
Difficulty: high
I give Formula One 2001 (the game from Sony) an 8/10 because I think that the
game has only one downside but it\'s a mayor one: the controls aren\'t good.
If you start the game without changing anything (or don\'t read the manual: this
is something what many people do) you\'ll start the engine at the first red
stoplight like the profs, you\'ll start and what happens then: a restart or
worse. Now, you figured that out, you accidentally crash against the wall
(nothing serious, it could also happen to you) and you want to ride backwards,
you won\'t find the right button. The first time was when I was playing it with
my nephew and we both crash, after ten minutes we discovered that you have to
press L1 and push the left analogue stick backwards.
The graphics are very decent and equal the frame rate from such games as F1
2001 (the EA version). But it the graphics can still be better. Games as Gran
Turismo 3 and \'Le Mans 24 hours\' have way better graphics but I think that
their Formula One 2002 will have better graphics. This game isn\'t that original
but it was the first good race-game on the PlayStation 2, the dream machine.
Like in games as Metal Gear Solid 2: the Sons of Liberty and Final Fantasy X
(the European version) there is an extra disc. This disc contains real video
footage from BBC with the original commentary of every race including the Grand
Prix of Belgium. As extra this can count but I\'ve they had added an arcade
mode, the game would be even better.
The sounds in the game are really life like: the sound of the engine of every
brand is different and resembles the real thing. The commenter doesn\'t tell
only about you, he tacks about who as car problems, who\'s at the lead and such
things. The game as all the tracks and drivers, so if you\'re a real F1 fan,
you\'ll have lots and lots of fun with this game. The game has high difficulty
with his \'bad\' controls but for the rest there is nothing-serious wrong with
it.

5.3- Car Settings [A503]
===============================================================================
This is a tip for everyone. If you want to change the car engine settings from
the car, you\'d better go to the car engine FAQ with F1 2001 from EA. The
settings for the motor are exactly the same or look at page 13 of the
instruction manual. I don\'t explain it because I don\'t know anything about it.

that purpose, the disclaimers must be included. This guide must not be added
into a magazine, newsletters, etc. without the expressed written permission of
the authors. You may not distribute it without my permission, even not by mail
without crediting me.
If you wish to distribute this guide in any non money making scheme, please
write a letter to the author on email. You must give obvious credit to the
author as well. The author will take no responsibility as to what the reader
shall do prior to reading this guide. If you are however to break any of the
above rules, I will take action and you wouldn\'t want that to happen.
This guide should be found on the following sites. To get permission to post
this FAQ, mail the author. If you get the permission to post this FAQ, you can
add your site to the list. After that a list of sites who are not allowed to
use this is included. It could be that they get permission if they mail me, if
that is the case, remember to take your site out of the list. If you work for
any of those sites, you don\'t have to write a very long mail when you\'re asking
to use my FAQ. A simple short mail with the name of the site and the FAQ you
want to use is sufficient.
New/other sites will be asked to give a longer mail explaining things like how
old their site is; various features and stuff like that. I will accept to let
you use my FAQ 90% of the time, the other 10% of the time might be because you
have too many pop-ups or you only use one FAQ of a game at a time and I think
the other one is better.

For people who speak Dutch: The best version of all my Dutch FAQ\'s which are
complete can be found accompanied by screenshots (not all of them will have
screenshots though) of the game on my site. When my website is online you can
find the URL of the website in my profile on the site you are now visiting. The
name of my site will be Dutch FAQ Central and will probably end up on an

===============================================================================
6.2- Contacting the author [A602]
===============================================================================
If you wish to contact us, please email me at fa354230 [at] skynet [dot] be,
replace the [at] with @ and the [dot] with a point. It just there to prevent
people scanning this file for mail addresses. Mention the name of the game in
the topic title. I will accept suggestions, questions, something you want me to
know BUT, no spam, porn, or any of the sort. Your message will be ignored and
any emails from you will be put into the trash. Don\'t you just love auto block
features.
I don\'t have an AIM account. I do have an MSN account. You can add me to your
list if you have questions about FAQ writing or just want to talk about playing
games. If you ask questions about how to finish a game I wrote a Complete FAQ
over, you\'ll be blocked. My MSN address is fa34230 [at] skynet [dot] be. If you
have my other mail address for MSN, don\'t add this one too. I\'m using them both
at the same time. An alternative to email will be the message boards.
If you emailed me with a question or similar, I\'ll send an email back telling
you whatever you wish to know. However, I sometimes don\'t frequently check my
mailbox so if you don\'t receive your reply right away, try waiting a few days.
If a week has passed, chances are, either I didn\'t get your email or you didn\'t
get my email. If you\'re question is already answered in this FAQ/Walkthrough,
you won\'t get a response. Don\'t bother sending multiple mails, you\'ll still be
ignored.
===============================================================================
6.3- Environment Rant - Very Important for a FAQ this size [A603]
===============================================================================
This FAQ already counts more than 10 pages. Once this FAQ is finished; it will
possibly count more than 10 pages. If you were to print out this FAQ, it would
take probably an entire day. It is also possible that your printer cartridges
become empty so that you have to buy new cartridges, these are very expensive.
(Okay, I\'m exaggerating).
If you want to print something out, only highlight a small part to print out,
this will make your printing go faster and you will waste less ink and money.
If you decide to print out this entire FAQ, we can\'t be hold responsible for
any damage caused to your printer or if your cartridges become empty.
It is also bad for the environment if you print out this entire thing. If you
read this after printing out this FAQ or still decide to print it out; you
should know that you killed at least one tree. Better plant 3 new trees to
restore the damage. (One old tree converts as many CO2 into 02 as 3 young
trees.) You can also plant one if you didn\'t print this FAQ, it can give you
fruit and you can sit in the shadow when it is hot. Mail me if you agree with
me. That way, you don\'t waste any paper and it makes me happy.

6.5- Credits [A605]
===============================================================================
GameFAQs
It has many great boards where you can discuss all kinds of games. I even
visit some of the game boards there when I\'m making a FAQ but that is only
when I start it at the launch.
Joni Philips
He sacrificed his spare time to write this FAQ. He spent a lot of hours on it
without getting anything so, in return be kind to him despite the fact that he
is asocial.
The FAQ sites
They are hosting my FAQ so that you can read it. Continue to visit the site
where you are reading this if you like it. Otherwise, there are always good
alternatives that carry my FAQs too.
FAQ Contributors Board - GameFAQs
It is one of the better boards on GameFAQs and there are a lot of good writers
who can help you when writing a FAQ or you want to chat with. They helped me a
lot when I was a starter.
===============================================================================
6.6- Info about the Author [A606]
===============================================================================
You can find all my FAQ\'s on the sites that are on the list. As you can see I
already wrote lots of FAQ\'s. And because I do this for free and normally don\'t
get money for this, I would appreciate it if you send five euro to me. Only
kidding, I would appreciate it if you don\'t send me hate mail or spam.
Even if you want a write a FAQ yourself, don\'t mail me either. Several sites
like http://members.optusnet.com.au/astroblue/faqwarp.html have a good manual
to make FAQ\'s. If you find my FAQ on other site then these on the list, e-mail
me because they are making money out my FAQ. I have my work on other sites too
but these 4 sites have more than 90% of my FAQ\'s. Most other sites only have 2
or 3.

I am now going to talk about me. I was born on 29th of July in 1987. I live in
a town, Vossem, which is close to Brussels, the capital of Belgium. For al the
idiots out there, Belgium lays between France, The Netherlands, Germany,
Luxemburg and the North Sea.
At the moment that I am writing this, I am 16. If you reading this after 29th
July 2004, you should remember I\'m older than 16. I completed my Primary
School in Vossem. When I graduated there I went to the Holy Heart College in
Tervuren; there I am in my fourth year of Latin and Mathematics. Correction, I
already moved on to the fifth year in which I\'m following Science - Math (6
Hours) and now I\'m going to the sixth year so I\'m almost out of school.
My main hobby is playing games. My favorite games are Super Mario World and
Final Fantasy VIII (not a typo) and my favorite genre is Role Playing Games
like Final Fantasy X. Next to that I also read Comic Books and magazines about
Games like NGC. My second hobby is as you can see writing FAQ\'s. On the matter
of sports I am not good.
I also surf a lot on the World Wide Web to sites about games. Most are Dutch
but some are English. I even write reviews for one of these sites namely for
www.gamed.nl. It is a young game site that came online in October 2003. It is
also one of the reasons why I slowed down so much on writing FAQ\'s.
