I've played many war games and mastered them. I've played many other genre or "types of games" and mastered them too. If you complete any game on the "easy mode", "rookie mode", "beginner mode"... Get what I mean ? You will not be rewarded with any cheats, special features, secrets, ect. So that's the answer to your question. Completing "Ghost Recon" on "Recruit mode" will get you nothing, after all... you're a new recruit in training.
Don't feel too bad. I usually start a new game title on the default difficulty setting which is usually on "normal", "veteran", "medium" , you know what I mean? I try the game on normal first, and if that's too hard for me?; I set the difficulty level down to easy. If that's too hard?, well I set it to "very easy". If I can't handle it on"very easy", the game sucks! Just kidding. My point... find the difficulty level that you can handle to get the feel of the game and complete it. Expect no rewards. Then step it up a notch to the next level and complete it. Rewards? Maybe. Then step up to the next level and complete the game. "See what I'm getting at ?" The higher the difficulty level, the higher the rewards!!! Trust me. This pretty much applies to all games for all gamers!!
