Woot, milestone. This guide is about the great game Restaurant Empire which is an underrated Sim game of running a restaurant and several of them while placiating customers. Great fun. At the time of this guide written, this games popularity has dropped to rock bottom, but there are players out there. ------------------------------------------------------------------------------ [1.02] Version History Version 0.1 [15/3/07] Guide created. Did a small portion of the recipes. Version 0.2 [16/3/07] Second update, more recipes added. Version 0.3 [18/3/07] Breakfast recipes done. Version 0.4 [19/3/07] Offically finished all French and Italian recipes. Version 0.5 [20/3/07] All American recipes complete as well as Multicultural soups. Only multi- cultural appetizers, main courses and desserts to go under the recipes section. Version 0.6 [23/3/07] Multicultural Appetizers are all completed. Only the multicultural main courses and desserts to go under the recipe section. After that, its going to be staff and then maybe furniture. Version 0.7 [24/3/07] Finally, all recipes finished. Its amazing how much space this took. I don't expect the other sections to take too much more space. Might kill someone's bandwidth. Version 0.8 [19/5/07] Been on the backburner for a while. Update needed. Version 0.9 [12/6/07] Virtually Completed. Another one done. ------------------------------------------------------------------------------ [2.01] Chef These guys are the lifeblood of your restaurant. Without them, you will have no one to cook for you, and therefore, what business will you have. These people are essential to make money. I suggest 1 chef to about 80 customers. This is because if you are only going to have about 80, you don't have a really hectic day. But this however, depends on your hours and when you open and close. When you start to max out at over 400, you will need 4 chefs at least to make sure you can fill out the orders. Of course, the chefs have many skills. There are 12 main skills and that is : French Appetizers French Soups French Main Courses French Desserts Italian Appetizers Italian Soups Italian Main Courses Italian Desserts American Appetizers American Soups American Main Courses American Desserts Well, how do you improve this? It is actually more complex than you think. You see, each recipe a chef cooks will have a rating based on your chef's skill in making it. Some chefs you hire are naturally skilled and therefore, have a higher rating in that recipe. Other chefs will need some training before they are ready to tackle it. However, the 12 bars above is the exact combination of all recipes in that class. For example, if your chef has a low skill in French Soups, that means, most, next to all, French Soups are low in skill. That means that he is not skillful. Let me get a more simple meaning of this. The skills of the 12 are basically the rating of the chef's skill of that specific category of recipes. The skill is made of all the recipes skill for that chef put together. That means if he has a high rating, he may be skilled in all but can still be weak in others and vice versa. Thats a confusing one. The next thing is that chefs can purchase ingredients off special people. This is done through a random event and this can be used when ordered to in a specific recipe. ------------------------------------------------------------------------------ [2.02] Captain These people are the other people who need to be hired. These guys will be the ones who will talk to your customers and give their bills. Customers will only make their orders to Captains and they will get their bills from the captain. However, the skill of the captain is important. If the skill is low, customers will complain about the poor service. I mean, you aren't skilled if you don't be nice to the customer. This can be done through staff training. The more skilled the captain is, the less complaints drawn against them. ------------------------------------------------------------------------------ [2.03] Server An important addition to the business. These people are those who serve the meals of the customers. They can carry up to 5 or so dishes and drinks from the serving table. You must remember that like the captain, your skill of the server will effect how your customers will judge him or her. This can be fixed through staff training. When you see the complaint that Server such and such was impolite, it means that he or she needs training. In the early part of the game, they will draw many complaints. ------------------------------------------------------------------------------ [2.04] Kitchen Porter These are the dish monkeys of the game. These are those who wish the dishes for you. You can either give them the sink to wash in, however, it has a chance that the dish will break, moreso with a lower skill level than a higher one. The dishwisher will not break dishes however. They will also move dishes into the little kitchen elevator. They will move the dishes into the dumb waiter and send the food upstairs so that the servers upstairs can deal with it. You can tell you have to hire another porter when the customers start to complain that their dishes are dirty. Then look at the amount of dirty dishes that you have. ------------------------------------------------------------------------------ [2.05] Receptionist The last member of staff. These people are those who will greet and meet with customers. Although they are not necessary to run the business, they are important to have. This is because you run the chance that the customer will just walk off when there is no receptionist. They have no idea where to go so just go somewhere else. Also, skill level, once again plays a role. You have a low skill, people will complain and so forth. You don't need a drill on that again. One will be more than enough for a restaurant, however large it is. ------------------------------------------------------------------------------ [3.01] Overview Recipes are the heart and soul of any restaurant. Without any recipes, there are no dishes and what are you going to sell your beloved customers? Anyway this will lay out all recipes that are in the game with their ingredients, time cost, default price, requirements and description. Rating and price are not included because these aren't constant. Recipes such as French recipes - appetizers will house only FULLY FRENCH appetizers, not the ones under several cuisines. Goals: Monthly Revenue $30,000 Daily Customers 35 You don't have a lot money to spend up with so decor isn't exactly the way to start burning your money. Anyway, the monthly revenue isn't all that much if you think about it. You need, in 1 day, to create a revenue of $1000 as when the day finishes, it will be multiplied by 30. Use some advertising to create more customers to your place. Remember, revenue is not profit, you need to sell meals up to $30,000 or $1000 a day. It isn't too hard yet. Make sure you have about 2 servers and captains to solve the dinner chokepoint and one porter, if not two to quicken things up. Hire a receptionist if you think you need one. Also, start training your staff, it will pay dividends later on, trust me. Chapter 2 Goals: Monthly Revenue $40,000 Meals Served on Time - 50% Average Customer Satification - 45% Now that you have a tad more money to pay around with, you should do two things. You should start to expand your restaurant upstairs now, and to do this, you will need some dumb waiters. Two should do incase things get a tad hectic. Anyway, you should also improve the decor of the restaurant with some more decorations, a few cheap paintings should do. In the kitchen, add the mixer, microwave use a dishwasher if you haven't already. This is due to the fact that you can start making favourite meals for the customers now and as such, you get more practice for your chef as well as satification. The satification is by far the sore point in this. Make a profit here to make sure you survive. And hire a few more staff due to the expansion upstairs. Chapter 3 Goals: Monthly Profit $12,000 1st Place in Cooking Competition Monthly Revenue $50,000 If you followed the decor as above, you don't need more than those small paintings. Hire one or two more servers to serve the demand. You need to start making a profit here so don't spend too much or maintenance will go up. Remove training and advertising if you can't afford to pay it. You basically need to make a profit of $400 a day to ensure that you can survive. You also need to have a high amount of revenue as well. Make sure you can do both. The cooking competition can be viewed through the little adventure mode. Use your best recipe, the absolute best and win those mini-games, win them, do not lose them. Try your hardest, you have plenty of time so do not fret. Keep the food prices up, do not drop them as your have to make a profit as it is your main goal. Chapter 4 Goals: Monthly Profit $25,000 Meet Don and furfill his wish Average Profit per Customer - $18 Now that you've won the cooking competition, you can now charge a bit more for that winning recipe. Why? Because it is good and it is now a bit more famous. Improve that recipe and rake in even more. The profit goal is now doubled. If you have too many staff, that are not needed, such as an extra porter or server, or your find upstair is not being used, then fire them as the profit is quite high. You should use the set menus as this can be a money raker if you use the correct combination. This is good timing as if you serve only the lunch and dinner meals, you can make more money through the drinks such as wine, which you can set. This will help furfill the $18 requirement. For the Don's wish, meet with your uncle quickly and attain the recipe he asks for. Increase food prices if you can't manage but not too much. Chapter 5 Goals: Monthly Revenue $60,000 Customer Satification - 50% Meals Served on Time - 80% This is hardly any harder than the last ones, since you have a new restaurant and a wad of extra cash to burn. Furnish the restaurant, but not too expansive furniture. Basic decor with furnishing for the tables as well, for some light. Raise the prices to cover the costs of the second restaurant as well. Customer satification should not be a problem, check for the problems and solve them. Meals served on time might pose a problem but hire one to two more servers to fill out the gap if need be. You are going to need new staff for both restaurants, more in second than the first. The second is larger and you get to plan the layout, so choose wisely. Chapter 6 Goals: Monthly Profit $50000 Meet Your Uncle 1st Place in Soup Contest Operating Profit Margin 45% A fair amount harder but you have a second restaurant to start to make some more money. Sack staff or knock off the rate of training or advertising that you do if the profit doesn't get high. The need for profit is seen through the profit margin that has to be at 45%. Do as you would do above. Meet your uncle and go to the grocery shop like ordered to. The soup contest is itself, hard however. The starting rate of soups is at 47% with your chef and will only increase 3% a month. You need some help through selling soups but no one will buy it. How to solve this? Duplicate the soup, drop to price to a very low level and this increases demand so train on that. You have to reach 60% in the soups available to you to actually win, so training and wait I guess. Improve both restaurants to make it more attractive and this will pay off in later months. You will need more staff in both restaurants and more expansive decor to increase the comfort level. While meeting with your uncle, you can unlock the address of the grocery shop, the regionals and meet some chefs, Thierry and Pierre. ------------------------------------------------------------------------------ [4.02] Chapter 7 to 12 Chapter 7 Goals: 3.5 Stars Service Rating 3 Stars Food 1st Place in Italian Contest You will need to transfer Armand to the Italian restaurant if you haven't already to gain some new experience. In both restaurants, hire more staff to cost with demand and replaces the old tables with ones that you can afford that can provide more comfort. This is need for the stars. Buy some more expansive decor and remove the cheaper ones. Improve the exterior views on the restaurants as well. Start to hire more servers in both restaurants and max out the amount of captains. When the little special event turns up, go to the address the gave you, in adventure mode, and exchange recipes and after a bit more banter, he will give the address of the chefs Stefano and Marco. Send the latter to the French Trezze restaurant for some work experience. Get Armand to win with the Mixed Casserole of Pork to promote him a bit. Run the Italian restaurant a fair bit and let Stefano win the stadium event with the exchanged Macroni recipe. After that, if you have the stars, next chapter. Chapter 8 Goals: Overall Rating 3.5 Stars Monthly Profit $25,000 1st Place in Italian Contest Average Satification - 50% You have to do this in your newest restaurant. Now that you have the money to play around with, hire staff, the best possible and have some nice new decor to play around with. Make sure the kitchen is big and send two chefs to help on the workload there. Destroy the decorations on the wall and sell them to replace them with lights or some nice decorations. Make sure the restaurant and exterior is good before you go around and open. Now, for the cooking competition, you need to have two chefs for three rounds, with Italian food, an appetizer (Italian) and a special dish. Find the chef that specialises in this dish and use Armand to promote him a tad more. Run your restaurant for a few months, get the satification above 50%, which isn't too hard and get profit higher. The stars might be problematic but nothing you can't achieve yet. Upgrade all your restaurants at the same time to ensure consistancy while maintaining training and advertising for all restaurants but make sure you have profit leftover to expand. Chapter 9 Goals: 120 Customers Per Day Win 1st Place in the Contest Meet Delia 3.5 Star Overall Rating Monthly Revenue $56,000 Transfer your best chefs to the new LA restaurant. Decorate the restaurant and don't be skimpy on the decor, since by now, if you have been running surpluses, it should be ok. Meet your uncle as usual and meet Delia and go buy some stuff as well as the grocery store. Build the kitchen upstairs and use dumbwaiters to transport and move the toilets downstairs as this will ease conjestion a fair amount. Use the training and advertising to promote your newest venture as well. Get your contest winning chefs to LA to start the cooking contest. This is different as you need a French, Italian and American recipe. Even though you might win the contest (please win the mini-games, they are important), you still need to improve the rating. Promote exterior as well as that is important as well. Do not ignore the exterior or interior. Hire as many staff as you need. Lower prices if things aren't working out. Chapter 10 Goals: Persuade Delia to work for You Wagon Ho! Profit $30,000 Build around the new steakhouse that Mr Steele decided to give you, over the shady Don. Learn some more about OmniFood. Transfer the chefs that you like to work at the new joint to gain some more work experience in terms of food. Don't place tables and such upstairs, as the restaurant itself is quite large and there is plenty of table space downstairs. Build up the kitchen and the restrooms, which is obvious by now. Hire a few staff, 2 captain and 3-4 servers to round out the service. Build the menu, enable beverages and update the exterior. After you talk to Delia, she needs someone to manage the store, and that would be your Uncle in Paris. Open store and start the competition. You need two chefs and one recipe of each cuisine. Use the chefs that you think fit the bill, but let Armand be there to promote him. In the second month contest, you should use Armand, who by now has many skills, and use him in the contest with recipes near 100%. Win the contest, and move on. Chapter 11 Goals: Impress Gordini with Your Seafood Wagon Ho! Overall Rate 4 Stars Monthly Revenue at Hope and Anchor $40,000 Armand is one of the Top 20 Chefs Persuade Tyron to join you A fair amount of goals here actually. The first one is the overall 4 stars that is required of you. It is quite hard to do this unless it has been a good restaurant and that results in pouring a large amount of money. Use your best chef to improve food. Lessen conjestion to improve service and erect barriers to add to comfort. To impress Gordini again, you need to have a decent restaurant. Use the best that you can afford in the current point in time. Only the best will do. Use a large menu and beverages and use the best chefs upon his arrival. Use lamps, add decor and reduce the amount of complaints that you receive. Improve the exterior and hire as many staff that you can to reduce conjestion. The monthly revenue will be nothing new, you should be able to do this. Tyron is important to impressing Gordini. He has the reviewer's favourite recipe. To hire him, you need to have an overall rating of 3.5 at Wagon Ho! Use him wisely to impress Gordini. To have Armand to be in the Top 20, win contests, thats all you can do, for now anyway. Chapter 12 Goals: Woo Delia Wagon Ho! 5 X 100% Satified Customers Hope and Anchor 5 X 100% Satified Customers Wagon Ho! $40,000 Profit Hope and Anchor $40,000 Profit Start to win some more contests if you want to promote Armand some more. After that, after you win that is, Woo Delia, which means visit her. Isn't all that hard by now. To gain a 100% satified customer, you HAVE to offer him or her their favourite food to them. This is before they order, or after if they have not ordered it. By having favourite foods that are of a different cuisine, are added to your little menu, a nice bonus. The profit goals are a bit different though. You will need to drastically decrease spending and remove some decor that isn't working, to reduce maintenance. Also, fire unused staff to lower the costs and reduce training and advertising still you pass or to a sustainable amount. ------------------------------------------------------------------------------ [4.03] Chapter 13 to 18 Chapter 13 Goals: French Nationals 1st Place Introduce Delia to Uncle Armand one of the Top 10 Chefs Treize Rating 4.5 Stars The side Goal of the Stars is extremely hard to get now, since the things you have to perfect is quite high. The Nationals will require you to use a French appitizer, a French Soup, a French Main Course and the Fruit Gratin with Almonds recipe. Use Armond for this, obviously, since he is the best you've got in terms of French Food. Transfer the best chefs to the Treize restaurant. After you win the little contest, you can introduce Delia. Also, by winning the contest, the rank of your Chef in the world goes up some more. In adventure mode, these will be a man who will want to fight OmniFoods, and will join you. Talk to your Uncle who will accept to run the Grocery Stall while Delia will run the restaurants for you. How nice of her. Chapter 14 Goals: Average Spending $20 per Customer Deal with Sergio Average Satification Wagon Ho! 50% Now that Delia is a manager, she is transferred to Wagon Ho! where you have to take care of some things. You have the set options at your disposal, so you can now get average spending higher. Try to offer favourite meals to the customers now only to increase spending, but to increase the satification of the customers. Add staff as you see fit and decorate if necessary. Now you have to hire Sergio, who has no skills unless you train him. After a while, this guy disappears for some reason, maybe he works for OmniFoods? Anyway, work on the spending and the satification to win. Chapter 15 Goals: Funky Elvis Overall Rating 4 American Contest - 1st Place Armand Ranking in top 5 Wells, the rating is quite harsh, but be thankful there is not profit thing to achieve. You have another restaurant, so manage this one carefully. Build it the same as the other American restaurants and enough captains and servers to cover both floors of the restaurant. Head to the stadium and see the requirements, any American dessert and Blueberry Muffins. Work on the recipes before going to contest. Check the moral, increase salaries and spending on training and advertising. This is important as you won't have many customers and you also need to use the 100% satification wisely. When you go to contest, win the thing and get a promotion. Chapter 16 Goals: Master Cooking Contest, 1st Place Total Restaurants Average Satification 60% Total Restaurants Monthly Revenue $500,000 Chantante Profit Margin 40% Well, there is all you can do for the revenue and the margin, do what you can but they are side goals. There are 3 contests that you will have to go through. The American requires 2 chefs with any American appetizer, dessert and Braised Chicken with Shallots. The Italian is 2 chefs with any main course and dessert. The French is 3 chefs with 4 rounds, appetizer, soup, main course and dessert. Don't sell your winning recipes, they are still needed. Chapter 17 Goals: Average Restaurant Chain 4.5 Stars Superstar Cooking Contest, 1st Place Average Restaurant Chain Profit - $150,000 This is quite hard, especially with the 4.5 Stars, which is quite impossible but can be done with a lot of micro management and looking at where you are going wrong. Adventure mode will contain many hints and helpful tips on what you can do to improve. Red Apple with have some ingredients for you, the Treize chefs will give you several new recipes, the Don will give you a nice "donation" for beating OmniFoods, Delia Market Store will have some nice ingredients for you, the Trieze will give secrets on training and a location to the Hydro Shop with new ingredients. You need to build your own restaurant so pick a type of restaurant and place in the city of your choice. Build the place as you wish, you should be used to which work and which don't. After Gordini visits one of your LA restaurants, you can join the new Superstar contest. Note the recipe needed, train on it and battle. 3 Chefs and 5 rounds of cooking. Good Luck. Chapter 18 Goals: Win! You will meet Thibald, a friend of Armond's father and gives the ultra secret uber recipe, Stuffed Lamb. You want Armond with perfect skills and perfect ingredients. You will now need Foie Gras Supreme, and only one person can prepare it, Joe Stone. Go to the Red Apple, buy everything, ask for some strange customers and ask for strange demands. Offer to return the wallet and choose the second option. Go to Joe who demands 40 oz of Foie Gras, 2 lbs of Artichoke and a bottle of red wine. Return to the Red Apple and buy All if you haven't to see secret ingredients. Buy call and ask for new secret ingredients which is the red wine. Head to Delias store and Offer Today, buy all and then secret which is the artichoke. Buy a lot. Head to the Hydro Shop, Offer Today, buy all and then Secret, which is Foie Gras, buy a lot as well. Use the Paris and Rome contests to promote your weaker chefs that you haven't used before seeing Joe, as those will lock up. Transfer to a French restaurant (Armond) and set Stuffed Lamb on the menu. You then practice like mad with the recipe, duplicate if necessary and use the set function. Wait till it is near perfect, then enter the contest with Foie Gras Supreme. Use the Supreme Foie Gras instead of the normal one and win. WIN! You have now completed the scenario. ------------------------------------------------------------------------------ [A] Contact Information Hey, what do you know, it looks just like my previous legal things, cause I'm too lazy to make another one.
