	1. Intro
This is a walkthrough, which is based on soloing Throne of Darkness with the Ninja. This means, that you are not using other classes than the Ninja. Usually
people would think you need all seven samurais, but no.
I made this walkthrough to show you all, that there can be done much wondering out of every game,
without it being boring.
You will think, that I have been bored cause I was making this, but that's not true.
I was bored, before I made this, so I thought
up the idea, and was bored no more.
I hope you will enjoy reading this guide but also enjoy following it. Remember this walkthrough is made for the 1.12.8

version of the game, so update
it, for the best equipment availability and probably bug fixes.

	2. Concept
First I'd start out with a little personal info. I thought that this was a very good game when I was a kid. I played all day, to complete it, but, although
I was rather good at it, I was starting over from saved games many times. When I finally completed the game I quitted it. Now I have come back to it, because
I was rather bored, so I thought I'd complete it again, with a little higher difficulty. I chose Ninja and Swordsman, to see wheater it would be more
challenging, or just impossible. It quickly proved easy, and I thought that is was gonna be too easy. I needed more challenge. As the ninja had more
proficiencies, and better spells/skills, I thought that he'd be the best class choce for soloing.
Now, as I advanced through the game, it all seemed very easy, but even though it was, it became significantly more challenging in the end
 of the game.
I found out, that you needed to care more for the equipment you are using, while not having to literally drag yourself through the game, but have fun
customizing weapons and armor, to optimize your abilities. I developed distinct tactics (not battle tactics) for each different zone or zonetype, and I
thought it was rather smart, to be honest.

	3. Skills/Spells & Stats
There's distinct ways to build your skill-/spell- and stattree. The one I prefered for soloing, is also rather necessary. You need to be able to use the
best armor and weapons for maximized damage and defense. There's some spells/skills, which you must have, and some, which is less important.

MUST be maxed:
Ki Barrier - This makes your ki into some kind of health. With a nice potion of magic leech, you will be able to hold yourself alive just by dealing damage,
while this shield is up. This is the only way you will be able to survive fights against either ranged or high boss monsters.

Ki Leech - This ability is a good way to keep up your ki while fighting, before you get any magic leech components into your armor.

Kyudo - This increases your damage by a total of 25%, so it's obviously necessary to max out.

Fire Kanji - This ability is very nice for AoEing, since it hits every enemy in the vicinity. You will find that it's very nice to have when you come to
large packs of enemies.

Vitality Increase - Obviously you will get more vitality, and thereby health, at the only cost of skill/spell points, which you got overflowing many of.

Dexterity Increase - Does the same as vitality increase, but with dexterity instead of course. This is also very nice, since you don't need your skill/spell
points for anything else.

Should be maxed:
Lave Ring - This is a nova spell with high knockback force, and therefore very nice to escaping large packs of enemies, when you become surrounded. Also nice
for killing small monsters like Gakis.

Petrify - This petrifies targets as described. very nice for holding ranged enemies at bay, but becomes rather useless later in the game, as monsters becomes
immune to the immobilizing effect.

Flash Strike - Increases attack speed very much for a short period of time, but very nice for attacking while slowed.

Furious Attack - The same as Flash Strike, but with ranged instead of melee.

The various 'Blade' spells (Flame-, Ice-, Lava-, and Shock Blade) are nice as well. In lower levels their damage is almost the same as you already got, so
it's a double
up on your damage, but useless as you get higher, as you need to use other spells which is much more important.

Stats:
Then there's the stat build. This is a very distinct board, which is rather important to follow, if you wanna optmize your damage and defense.

Strength: 170 - For wearing the best body armor available (Kunimichi).
Dexterity: 220
 - To be able to wield the best melee weapon in game (Chil-Ji-Do).
Vitality: 50 - Should remain unincreased, as your healthpool wont decrease very much.
Ki: Max - This is your main source or survival, your ki, is your second healthpool.
Charisma: 75 - Doesn't matter at all. For major purchases use the Leader and give him
the best low level charisma talisman, you can find.

There's a distinct order, in which you should build up your stat board. The ninja starts with this stat board:

Strength: 50 - Needed for armor.
Dexterity: 100 - Needed for weapons.
Vitality: 50 - Not needed.
Ki: 75 - VERY important.
Charisma: 50 - Useless.

Start increasing your strength until you reach 100, then you can use the lower level throwing stars, and you will have enough strength to use Tai-To, which
is the first sword you should get. When you reached
100 strength, increase your dexterity to 200. Then you can use Tai-To. Remember that you also get
Dexterity Increase from your skill tree. THis increases dexterity with a total of 25. If you max it out as soon as possible, you should be able to equip
Tai-To at level 21, if you don't have any dexterity increasing items. Then, when you have 100 strength and 200 dexterity, increase your strength until you
reach 170. Then you will be able to equip the Kunimichi. After this increase your dexterity to 220, and you will be able to wield Chil-Ji-Do. When these
stats has been reached, you should max out your ki. You will quickly find out, that Ki Barrier is very important, and therefore you must have much ki. If
you ever max out your ki, which I think you won't, you should start putting points into vitality.

	4. Equipment
You must have all the best equipment to make it as easy as possible:

The best armor is:
Chest: Kunimichi
Helmet: Matsutaka
Gloves: Ude-Yoroi
Greaves: Sune-Yoroi

The best weapons are:
Melee: Chil-Ji-Do
Ranged: Nage-Yari

To use all these best items you must have the stats written above, which is 170 strength and 220 dexterity.

Customization:
There's a simple way I'd customize my items: Ki leech, ki leech and ki leech...
Your ki is your second, but main, healthpool, so ki leech works as life leech somehow.
Your chest armor is the most important. Use all the 'Buddha' parts you get from the mages in the citadels. Soul-, Tear-, Blood-, and Patience of Buddha.
These together will grant lost of resistance, and some ki bonuses, and they only take up 4 spots. This resistance will be all you need, since it will exceed
your maximum amount of resistance pools. Fill the rest of the armor with Yama-Inu Blood and fire gems, to achieve as much ki leech as possible.
It's rather simple how to build your customizations. You need loads of Yama-Inu Blood, a fire component which drops from the wolf monsters. Put the
components in the armor so that you will get the highest possible advantage out of the blood. Sulphur and Kenya stones, which affects fire components,
are very nice gems to use, and mostly the only ones you will need. Red Soul Shards are nice to fill single spots, as they are fire components as well.
They give 5 ki points each, so a few of those and some fire gems are a nice potion of ki extra.
Your melee weapon should have a little of each; ki leech and health leech. You'd want to use Yama-Inu Blood for ki leech and some Oni Fangs or Hairpins for
the health leech. Oni Fangs and Hairpins are water components so use Cinnabar Kenya Stones, which affects both water and fire components. A little health
leech is needed, so you'd not have to use potions, but just hit to refll the little remaining health loss you'd have if you forget to rebuff Ki Barrier in
the middle of a fight.
Your ranged weapon could be two things; freeze or knockback. Freeze is nice for catching running enemies, but knockback is nice for removing other
knockbacking enemies or spread them. If you wish to use freeze, it's rather simple. Pearls and water gems. Make sure the weapon gets as close to 100%
chance to freeze as possible (each pearl grants 8%), and everything above 100% is futile, so fill in some other water components for the rest of the space.
If you choose knockback, which I personally would, you'd want to use Debu Blubber. It's an earth component, which you will need only three of. Then fill the
rest with Silver Ingots. That's very hard knockback, and should surely remove any unwanted enemy.

	5. Tactics
In the beginning you'd feel everything impossible, unless you follow a certain tactic. First of all you must know, there's two bosses in the citadel. The
warrior boss and the mage boss. The mage boss will cause the most trouble.

Main Citadel:
First of all, since you only one character, you will want to fill his inventory with potions and save them for combat situations and only regenerate by
sending him back to the shrine room, and call another character to stand by while he regenerates. All the other items you find, leave them on the ground.
It will be too much work to pick them up, as you got very limited space available. Only keep items with high durability, which might help you, when your
current item break, if it does so soon.

	Buaku the Blade
It's very important that you keep at least 1 ranged weapon with high durability. Preferably 2, but 1 is enough, if the durability is very high. Buaku mainly
does melee attacks, and if you are ranged at that point, he won't have a chance of catching you. He will do some fireball spell, though, and when he does
that, you should stop attacking until he is done with the spells, cause you won't take many of those fireballs, but most probably be hit by them, if you
try to fight back when he shoots them.

	Majin
When you fight Majin you will probably have one or all of the 'Blade' spells. These will help you greatly, as they will almost double your damage at this
level. You will want to use ranged attacks when he does the single balls of lightning, cause if you get hit by them, you'll be thrown back from where you
came. Buaku's Blade deals more damage that a ranged weapon at this point, and you'd want to use it when he does the triple lightning ball spell, which
doesn't deal as much damage and almost no knockback either. You will also have the portal gate close to you when you fight him, so if you are out of potions,
you'd want to escape to the shrine room to regenerate health, or if there comes too many balls swirling (they will disappear if you go to shrine room and
comes back).

Other Citadels:
You will want to use the same tactics for the mage as the one above, cause they might cause you trouble, even in the other citadels, cause they got so many
additional monsters behind them, but the melee boss is piece of cake when you come further. You can even paralyze him with Freeze or Petrify.
Note: The other citadels are the places where you get loads of money, so you will want to clean out the whole citadel when you have reached their shrine
room, instead of just taking the portal back to the front yard and continue from there.

Overall Tactic:
The idea of the tactic is, that your ki pool, which is the easiest to recharge by ki leech, will serve as your healthpool. For this to work you need to keep
Ki Barrier up at all critical times. Some enemies won't require you to rebuff it all the time, but it's still the safest way to fight, as it might become
harder and harder to survive without it when you come farther in the game. When you have rebuffed Ki Barrier, you might want to equip Ki Leech as your spell,
cause you will the regenerate ki faster, and it will serve as a kind of health leech.
This is the main way to do it, but when you get better gear, you won't really need Ki Leech, cause your gear will issue the ki leech you need.
