| Getting Started |
O=============================================================================O

When starting The Sims Medieval (TSM) your only option is to choose "New
Beginnings" as your ambition. After spending all your Quest Points (QP) you
will finish the Ambition and be able to choose others, also opening free play
for that finished kingdom. In the mean time, choose a New Game and name your
kingdom.
-------------------------------------------------------------------------------
                                -MENUS-
-------------------------------------------------------------------------------
You'll begin in Kingdom view, which is F3 on your keyboard. In order to play
effeciently you'll want to remember at least a few critical hot keys. From
Kingdom view you can do many things, including starting and canceling quests,
adding buildings using Resource Points (RP), checking your kingdom aspects,
and much more. I'll quickly go over the important ones.

In the upper left, you'll see your monarch information, which from the start
will only show a question mark with the words ?onarch Needed?beside it. The
amount of renown your Hero Sim has will also show up along with the current
value of RP.

Beneath your Sim portrait will be the current ambition you are working on and
by clicking it you can expand the menu to show details. For new beginnings,
the only task is to establish 13 buildings within your kingdom. In order to
build them however, you need to earn RP which are given after completing
quests. Which brings us to the next menu.

-------------------------------------------------------------------------------
                            -KINDGOM ASPECTS-
-------------------------------------------------------------------------------
By clicking on the little triangle you will drop down the menu that shows
your kingdoms aspects: Well-Being, Security, Culture, and Knowledge. The
lightly shaded boxes show your kingdoms current capacity for each aspect
(increased by adding buildings) and solid boxes for current status. If you
only have two boxes in Well-Being and both are full, you'll be considered at
High Well-Being. However if you have 9 boxes available for Well-Being and
only two are full, you'll have Very Low Well-Being. Keep this in mind as
you expand your kingdom as expanding it too fast without completing the
quests to increase them will cause your kingdom to fall into disrepair, and
your sims will receive negative buffs more often.

Well-Being:
	Low-
Neutral- Infected Sims roam the Kingdom (your sim may get sick through
social interactions)
High- Sims are healthy and will earn simoles at an increased rate.

Security:
Low- Bandits appear often in the village outskirts and entrance to the
forest. Burglarys occur often and shop prices increase.
Neutral- Some bandits roam the countryside. Home burglaries happen
occasionally.
High- A large number of guards means no bandits (unless needed for a quest
    and shop prices are lower.

Culture:
	Low-
Neutral-Unique social options are available (Not sure which ones yet.
	High-

Knowledge:
Low- Sims will have a reduced rate of experience. Occasional "Befudled"
	buff
	Neutral- Average rate of XP
High- XP Gain is slightly increased. Sims are occasionally inspired.

-------------------------------------------------------------------------------
                                  -OPTIONS-
-------------------------------------------------------------------------------
In the lower right you will see the typical Sim controls you have become
familiar with if you have played any other Sims games. The elipsis button
opens the menu and will allow you to save your game and change other options.
-------------------------------------------------------------------------------
                                  -CAMERA-
-------------------------------------------------------------------------------
Above that are buttons to modify your view. I honestly never use them and
just use wasd and the mouse to navigate. The three buttons to the left of it
are just a way to follow your currently selected Hero Sim and go to overview
mode called ?ye of the Watcher.?For these, just remember ?' For Hero Sim
and M, which is an upside down W for Watcher view. You can also click the
bottom button to view a certain area of the kindgom and you may use this for
a period, but I find that the menu closes when you scroll off it, and once
you get the layout of the kindgom in your head it is not needed at all.

-------------------------------------------------------------------------------
                                -GAME MODES-
-------------------------------------------------------------------------------

The Live Mode (F1) Button launches everything into action, and Furnish Mode
(F2) obviously goes into furnishing mode. For the most part you will go
directly into furnish mode from live mode, and will enter furnish mode for
that specific area. In addition, each area has a certain fund available to
it. Most areas will fall under the Royal Treasury, which is a cash pool
coming from the monarch's income and the taxes from all the citizens. Other
areas receive funds from the Hero Sim that inhabits the area, such as the
Blacksmith paying out of pocket to buy things for his/her area.

An easy way to furnish a specific area that you don't want to have to camera
pan to is to F3 then click on the building icon. When the context menu with
building description comes up you can click to furnish (provided you have
created a sim for that area).

After completing your redecorating, Live mode may be unselectable. In this
case, back out to Kingdom view, then jump straight into Live mode.

-------------------------------------------------------------------------------
                              -ACHIEVEMENT BUTTON-
-------------------------------------------------------------------------------

Pretty much useless your first kingdom. This button will pull up the list of
achievements you can earn throughout playing the game. Most you will earn
through the normal course of play and a few you may have to look back on. For
instance, Let There Be Rock requires you to discover all minable minerals.
You will almost certainly earn this the first time you use the blacksmith as
your Hero Sim for a quest. Others, like Dead Sim Walking requires a large
kindgom with very low wellbeing. This requires that you neglect to complete
quests that add to well being.

The completion of achievements add to your Watcher Achievement level, to
which at this point I see no use besides motivation for acheivement hunters.

-------------------------------------------------------------------------------
                             -QUEST BUTTON-
-------------------------------------------------------------------------------

Use this button within Kingdom view to start, quit, or review quests. The
quests that appear will appear at random and new ones will appear every time
you complete a quest. If you don't like the way your quest is going (a
character is going to get killed, ect) you can choose to quit and keep the
sim from dying.

Each quest will raise a specific aspect of your kindgom primarily and some
quests will increase multiple ones, or more so one depending on what
character you use and method to carry out the quest. The amount of QP it
costs to carry out a quest appears on the first page, and on the following
pages goes into detail about the storyline associated with it. You can also
see the RP you can earn, money, and experience for Hero Sims participating.
Let it be noted that based on your level of performance during the quest
(more on this later) the more RP you can earn.

-------------------------------------------------------------------------------
                              -TERRITORY MAP-
-------------------------------------------------------------------------------
For a good part of your early TSM career this map is pointless. Unless you
heavily invest time into your monarch you won't see this. There are two other
territories besides your kingdom that you can interact with via passing of
treaties and edicts (monarch only) and by trading goods (merchant only)
Viewing the map will show the current status of each neighboring kingdom and
trade information (what you bring to then and what you get in return) along
with benefits which change based on loyalty status.

 The Sims- Medieval /--------------------------------------------------------o
   -------o----------\ -Your First Kingdom- |
                      \-------------------------------------------------------o

The first task to complete after starting your new kingdom is to create your
monarch. Using the WASD buttons navigate to the castle an click the green
crown to select your Throne Room. You will see that you need to create a
monarch which you can do by clicking the large red square.

You can choose to create a monarch or chose one of a randomly created sim of
each gender. For the sake of the FAQ let's choose to Create A Sim. (Creating
a sim each time allows you to choose the ever important traits and fatal flaw.

-------------------------------------------------------------------------------
                             -CREATING A SIM-
-------------------------------------------------------------------------------
Name your sim and choose its gender and voice from the default menu. Clicking
the crystal tab allows you to modify skin tone, face details, age, body fat,
and muscle. Play with these as you wish, but be sure to choose your traits at
the bottom.

-------------------------------------------------------------------------------
                                 -TRAITS-
-------------------------------------------------------------------------------
This section is still a work in progress as I have not created enough
characters to know the ins and outs of each trait. For the most part, each
trait will cause positive buffs based on actions that tie into the traits.
For instance, doing small tasks will cause Excitable sims to get an Excited
buff. Some traits while 'positive' may not be what you're looking for, such
as Dedicated, which randomly adds extra daily responsibilities to your list.
If you're organized and can complete them, you get a much longer positive
buff, but if your sim is already behind, it is just a stronger negative buff
for failing.

Adventurous- Sim will get positive buffs from going on adventures in the forest

Chivalrous- Sim will receive a negative buff for cheating on the person
they're courting with

Creative Cook- Meals created by sim will add a longer lasting buff to eating
and requires less time to prepare.

Dedicated- Randomly takes on extra daily responsibilties after completing the
first two.

Earthy- Extra positive buffs for performing tasks such as collecting
herbs/weeds

Eloquent- Provides extra social options that greatly increase social
interactions

Evil- Sim recieves "Feindishly Delighted" buff when bad things happen to other
sims.

Excitable- Random tasks will add a positive excited buff

Friendly- Sim will increase social status with other sims quicker, and social
levels decrease slower when ignoring them. Social interactions are accepted
more often, and your sim listens politely even when others repeat themselves.
Social Trait options are available.

Fun-Loving-

Good-

Greedy- Sims will be able to borrow money from other sims they know without
having to pay them back. When making large sums of money a positive buff will
be added.

Haggler- Sims sell for more and buy for less.

Hopeful Orphan- Your sim can ask others if they know anything about their
parents. Working on more information.

Jokester-

Loves Family-

Scholarly-

Solitary-

Unkempt-

Vain- (+10 Focus, 5h) Sim receives "I am Beautiful" buff from looking at
mirror.

Whale Ate My Parents

-------------------------------------------------------------------------------
                             FATAL FLAW
-------------------------------------------------------------------------------
Fatal flaws are similar to other sims games in that they effect your sim
negatively. Some are far worse than othe3rs, and all flaws can be removed
through the completion of a special quest. These special quests appear at
random and in the description will mention that a Legenary Trait is
available. These traits are special and definitely worth going after,
although you only get to replace your fatal flaw with it and further
completion of quests will not add nor let you change your original selection.

Bloodthirsty- Sim will need to get into a fight, or a duel on a daily basis.

Compuslive Gambler- Sim will need to place bets with sims (by choosing sim
and choosing trait) or sit at a game table and bet in order to remove the
negative buff.

Cowardly- Sim will become afraid when alone in the dark, or in a scary
situation may faint.

Cruel- Sim will receive Pent Up Anger buff and must "Release Anger" to sims in
order to remove it.

Cursed-

Drunkard- One of the easier flaws to deal with. Just buy a keg for your sim
and give him a drink a day to stave off the buff

Fool-

Glutton- Sim will need to eat a LOT and doesn't stay full as long. Can be
annoying to have. Just make sure you always have bread (3 Barley+ Stove) in
their inventory.

Hubris- Sim will be randomly blinded by hubris after completing any type of
task. Not sure how to remedy this one, as looking in a mirror doesnt seem to
help. The buff does not last very long however and only -15 so it isn't very
harsh.

Insecure-

Insomniac- An annoying flaw. Sim will have trouble sleeping no matter how
expensive the bed is and may sometimes fall asleep during the day. Avoid it.

Licentious- Sim will need to kiss someone or have sex (woohoo) on a daily
basis. If you intend to get married be sure not to link this with chivalry
unless you always have your bethrothed near you. An easy enough flaw to deal
with as long as you dont mind building up social relationships with enough
people so that you can randomly kiss people througout the kingdom.

Misanthrope- (-15 Focus, 1H) Sim will receive "Hates People" after carryong
on social interactions with sims they do not know well. Sim will prefer to be
mean to others and sabotage relationships. May cause Upset(-15 Focus, 3H)
buff to also occur or Lost A Friend (-25 Focus 24H) which is even worse. Not
reccomended for sims that need to interact with
characters on a daily basis, such as monarch, merchant, ect.

Morose-

Puny-

Uncouth-

Weak Constitution- Causes sim to throw up at random times, usually after
eating or drinking which is a negative buff. I linked this to my physician
and she throws up all the time. I just remedy it with a curative potion.

-------------------------------------------------------------------------------
                       -PERSONALIZING YOUR SIM-
-------------------------------------------------------------------------------
The rest of the tabs are self explanatory so I'm not going to glean over
them. After you start your game you can go to a clothing trunk and create
multiple outfits. Be sure to save your sim for later!

-------------------------------------------------------------------------------
                         -DAILY RESPONSIBILTIES-
-------------------------------------------------------------------------------
Now that you can take control of your sim you will see a larger menu in the
lower left corner. There will originally be two green check marks in front
of shields. These are your daily responsibilities. Every day at 9am you will
receive two randomized rasponsibilites based on which hero sim you use. Some
quests require the control of two Hero Sims which you can switch at will.
These quests require you to complete both responsibilties. The sim you arent
controlling will go about its daily life, but be sure to switch and perform
their responsibilties even if you don't need the to continue the quest!

-------------------------------------------------------------------------------
                               -FOCUS-
-------------------------------------------------------------------------------
The ever important focus meter. Green is good, and red is bad as usual. The
focus bar is a sum of all your positive and negative buffs at the time, and
WILL EFFECT INTERACTIONS! If your sim has bad focus, trying to perform a
quest action or a job action that relies on focus wil probably fail. To tell
which interactions are effected just observe a color, red, yellow, or green
on the optioin as opposed to the bland regular coloring. Red will most likely
fail, yellow had a medium chance of succeeding, and greens have a high chance
of succeding. For the record, I rarely fail interactions that are in the
yellow. Maybe 1/30 but this may depend on the interaction attempted, such as
a quest option or simply mining.

Focus also has the only direct impact on your quest performance. The higher or
lower the focus is, the faster or slower the bar will increase/decrease. If
you
have control over more than one Hero Sim, keeping both focus meters up is
required!

-------------------------------------------------------------------------------
                           -HUNGER & ENERGY-
-------------------------------------------------------------------------------
Hunger and energy are the only two (thankfully) bars you need to keep an eye
on
in TSM. I guess things were much simpler back then and people didnt have time
to
worry about hygeine and social interactions! Hunger is easy to take care of.
As
I've mentioned before, just buy barley from the Village Shoppe and a stove for
your home and bake a ton of bread. This stacks in your inventory and doesnt go
bad (well it might but hasn't for me). You have other options for meals which
can provide longer, more powerful buffs, but if you're out in the world, good
bread is always great to have in your backpack

Energy is a little more difficult to maintain. Depending on the task you're
performing, energy will dwindle accordingly. Blacksmiths making weapons at
first
will only be able to squeeze out a few swords before needing to rest. As Hero
Sims level up the become more efficient at their jobs, however. If you want to
sleep less and work more, buy a bed such as "Phickle-Phyfe Bed with Gilded
Champlombs" which is a single bed with 8 Energy, or Queen Valeria 'Gran
Dormita'
Four-Poster Bed, which is a double bed with 9 Energy. These beds are expensive
(1820 and 2775 respectively) but you can sell unnecessary items in you sims
home
to earn some money back. With each Hero Sim I started with, I sold the bed (if
it was cheap) and fireplace in order to buy the most expensive energy
restoring
bed I could, with enough left over for a cheap cauldron and money for cheap
food
like fowl. Once you start sleeping well you'll get long lasting positive buffs
and sleep much less to restore all your energy.

There is a Red Bull like energy potion that can be purchased through the shops
or via trade, but restore little energy and after an hour of drinking you will
crash. I do not reccomend using this unless your sim is about to pass out on
the
ground and you have a quest or responsibility that you need to critically get
done in the next hour. In most cases 1H is NOT enough time to perform ANY
responsibility. I tried to pay my taxes with 2H left and walking to the
messenger box took too long.

-------------------------------------------------------------------------------
                             -QUESTING-
-------------------------------------------------------------------------------
Now that you're engaged in a quest you need to understand how to balance your
time. Just above your normal menu in the lower left is now a quest menu which
displays the hero sims working on the quest, along with a Quest Performance
indicator, and an icon with the current quest task. By highlighting over the
current task you can see more information on what needs to be done.

You will probably want to knock the quest out as quickly as possible;. DO NOT
DO THIS. Interestingly enough, in TSM you do not receive any rewards for
comleting a quest quickly. In fact, you will get more RP if you take your
time completing a quest and getting your QUEST PERFORMANCE all the way up to
platinum level. You are only required to perform ONE quest task per day or so.
It seems to vary with the task, and the first task of any quest for a first
character is given a lot more time to get started.
period. As long as you do so, you will not be negatively effected by failing
to maintain quest focus. In fact, you can push it out to almost 30 hours of
ignoring your quest time. As you ignore the tasks, you will recieve a neutral
buff of "Falling Behind on Quest" which will have an X in the center. This is
just a reminder that you should get started on your quest. Depending on your
focus level, your quest performance may start to decrease. If this is
ignored, you recieve "Behind On Quest" which still has no focus effect but
starts to reduce quest performance slightly more. You have 15 hours to perform
a
quest action. There will be two X's on this
icon. If you STILL haven't gotten the idea, after 15 hours, you will
be"Dangerously Behind on Quest" This has no focus effect, no time limit, and
your quest performance will PLUMMET! Having a high focus has no effect when
this
buff is on. You will need to complete two quest tasks before this buff goes
away.a

To prevent low quest performance, try to perform at least one quest every 24H
to
keep the performance rising towards platinum.

-------------------------------------------------------------------------------
                         -QUEST PERFORMANCE-
-------------------------------------------------------------------------------
There are four levels to quest performance, Bronze, Silver, Gold and Platinum.
You start out all quests in silver, and it is HARD to get anything less than
silver unless you're intentionally sabotaging your quest. Your RP is increased
based on the level of performance you finish your quest on.

Quickly completing quest tasks doesn not increase performance. The only thing
that ADDS to performance is a constant postitive focus. A negative focus, and
"Falling Behind on Quest" both reduce performance.

This differs incredibly from regular The Sims games, because you are almost
forced to draw out each quest in order to build up your Hero Sim's job level
and
raise performance. In order to get Platinum level, don't be surprised if a
quest
takes you 2H (real life) and your Hero Sim levels considerably in the process.

Basically, take your time with quests and just ensure you do one task per day.
When you are provided with a choice, your current task will show a ? that you
can click on and choose a path. This is also considered a quest action, and
requires no effort, so you can wait till the very last second to do these.

If your quest performance plummets to 0 your characher will be arrested for
failing to carry out their duities. Avoid this. The only other way to quit a
quest is to do so manually through the Quest Menu.
-------------------------------------------------------------------------------
                   -PERFORMING TASKS INDEFINITLY-
-------------------------------------------------------------------------------
If you want your sim to level quickly or the task they are performing is
required for a responsibility, but they stop before the time is up, you can
choose to perfomr the task indefinitely. To do this bring your mouse to the
task
in the task queue and drag the arrow on the right out. Your sim will do this
task until you make them stop or they pass out from exhaustion.

|*AS WITH ALL QUESTS, YOU DO NOT NEED TO AND I STRONGLY RECCOMMEND AGAINST |
|PERFORMING QUEST TASKS IN QUICK SUCCESSION. I AM WRITING THE QUEST |
|WALKTHROUGHASSUMING THE READER REALIZES TO SPACE OUT THESE TASKS AND FOCUS ON|
|BUILDING UP THEIR SIMS AS WELL* |
 -----------------------------------------------------------------------------

**You cannot save and continue later when playing this quest**

Sadly this first quest task for me was difficult. I hadn't read the manual and
did not know that the buttons page up and down switched between floors during
live view. You can also click the buttons that are above and below the camera
buttons accordingly. The mirror is located upstairs in the bathing room. Click
on it and choose Gussy Up.

Next you will need to discuss the kindgom with your randomly named Build
Master.
You wil be able to find him, as with all persons tied to your current task by
clicking on their Sim Marker located somewhere around your screen. If the sim
is
going home, or you are currently asleep you cannot queue these actions. You
can
add markers to other sims by clicking their portrait on the relationships tab.

After talking to the Build Master, you can go the forest.
When you get there click on a bush and "discover" it. Once you've done so
click
again to harvest it. Once a plant is discovered in one location, it never
needs
to be discovered again. Same with minerals.

A bandit will walk into the forest, and it is now your Kingly (Queenly) duty
to
vanquish the foe. Be sure (as with all quest tasks) that your focus is high
enough to at least ensure medium sucess. For sword fights, find your sword in
your inventory (be sure it's equipped too) and sharpen it. This will give you
a
slight edge that you may need. The conditon of its sharpness with be shown
when
you highlight the weapon and only needs to be sharpened every few fights or
rounds with a practice dummy.

For the first fight, just observe the bars of health and stamina. If either
fall
to zero the match is over. As you level your Hero Sim (Monarch, Knight) you
will
become more proficient at swordplay and will unlock more stances. For the most
part balanced is the way to go. See the Knight Hero Sim guide for more on
sword
fighting.

After defeating the rogue, you can go into the woods and collect wood for the
kingdom.

Your next task will be to travel to the graveyard, which as with the forest,
will show up as a quest marker on your screen.

Upon ariving you'll see your gravedigger with two fresh corpses. He has
something to ask of you so choose to discuss gravedigging.

Turns out he wants a church because he doesnt feel right burying people
unceremoniously. Cute.

In the mean time, go in the cave and prospect for stone. In case you're
retarded
like me, the cave is just beside where you meet the grave digger. just zoom
out
and you should see it next to you.

You will recieve a Random Encounter!

You find a chest sitting in a pudddle
Open it! ---> Recieve Money (125)
Leave it alone ---> Receive Money (225)

After scouring the caves, you need to travel to the path to the Village
Shoppes.
Once there, actually go to the village shoppes. Strange that these are two
seperate tasks, but I assume EA did this to show where locations of places
are.
You will need to zoom out to Watcher view in order to select the shoppes and
travel.

Once at the Village Shoppe the menu will pop up and you can see the wares for
sale. If you buy everything of one item up, you need to wait a day for stocks
to
replenish. There are seperate tabs for Foods, Items and Equipment. You can
also
sell at the this shop but realize that you can sell anything out of your sim's
inventory at ANYTIME by simply clicking it and dragging it to the empty box in
the inventory. It will sell for the same price as the market.

You do not need to buy anything at the market but if you have not visited yet,
I
would reccomend you pick up as much barley and fowl meat as you can.

Upon returning you will be able to receive a weapon based on a random encounter

Once returning, a sim will call for help. Go check on his safety. He's been
bullied, so go and put a stop to him!

Choose the sim and select monarch--> send to stocks. The constable will come
and
serve justice.

Follow them to the judgement zone, and humiliate him by throwing a tomato.

Now return to the throne room.

Upon arriving you'll see some new people and have to make a choice on who to
woo. There will be a male and female choice. Sexual preference does not matter.

Once you choose, you need to give them a flower, but this option will not be
readily available. You must socialize with them until the option becomes
availablel, which took me 4 interactions.

Go to Build Master XXXX again and give him all the materials you've collected
throughout the kindgom.

Afterwards you will have some time for yourself and be given your first
responsibilities. Each responsibility is different for each Hero Sim. These
occur at random. Check out each Hero Sims guide for more information if you
get
stuck.

For the tutorial you will need to pass an edict and hold court. There are time
limits on these which will adversely effect you if ignored. Go ahead and knock
them out, and while doing so, your "Take time for yourself" task will complete
on its own.

Once your tasks are completed, go write a letter of hire for a royal advisor.

Take the letter and mail it off at the messenger post just outside of the
castle
doors.

Talk to the advisor when they arrive, then F2 into build mode and buy anything
you want.

Now thaat your throne room is all decorated (cough) click on yourself and
declare the throne room open.

Go and take a look at the tactical map to see how your foreign affairs are
going.

Next you can discuss the kingdoms affairs with the Build Master. Note that
this
is the last task required of you so take time to do what you would like before
ending this quest!

Now that your quest is finished and you have some RP to spend, you can go to
kingdom view and choose a building to place. What you place is entirely up to
you! Only some buildings add new Hero Sims. For instance the light house, and
Kingball Court will not add a Hero, but Tavern, Market and Smithy will.

This guide was created to get you off to a good start while playing the Sims
Medieval. The rest of the guide will attemtpt to go in-depth and explain the
specifics of quests, Hero Sims and gameplay. Please leave me your feedback and
ideas!

 The Sims- Medieval /--------------------------------------------------------o
   -------o----------\ EXPANDING YOUR KINDGOM |
                      \-------------------------------------------------------o

Now that you have a better idea of the dynamics of the game, you will want to
spend those QP and expand your kingdom! You need to make a decision on which
buildings to erect next, and the sim that it unlocks, as you will open up more
quests that require that sim to take charge! Be aware, that the more expanding
you do, the lower your kingdom condition will be unless you perform quests to
restore each aspect. For instance adding the Barracks increases the security
aspect of your kingdom by 4. If you only have 1 point in security, all of a
sudden your security went from Very High, to Low! Aspects of gameplay will
vary slightly when you reduce the overall status of your kingdom.

                              -Buildings-

The cost required to expand your buildings will increase by ten RP each time
forcing you to perform more quests between new buildings. Be sure to make the
right decision before you spend your precious RP!

The Monarch m0n

Levels:

1-Can strategize and pass Edicts at the Tactical Map, Can Hold Court, can
	combat other sims
2- Restful Dance combat tone unlocked, Fighting proficiency slightly
	increased.
3- Whirling Takedown special combat move unlocked. Fighting proficiency
	increased.
4- "Steeled Defense" Stance learned. Fighting proficiency increased.

	9-
	10

Special actions:

Clicking on citizen Sims and choosing Monarch provides with many options.

Challenge to Duel- exactly what it means. See the Knight Hero Sim for more
information on dueling.

Threaten for money- You can threaten sims for money, but be careful who you
threaten. Some may have no money to give and you just loose relationship
points.

Spar- Spar with an opponent. Similar to Duel, but more good natured.

Send to Stocks- Sending any sim to the stocks is possible. Once commanded, the
constable will track them down and lock them up, allowing you and other
citizens
to throw food at them and hummiliate them. After serving a period of time,
they
will be released.

Send to Pit- You will not always be able to choose this option becuase doing
so
usually condemns a sim to death. They will be thrown into the pit with the
monster and chances are they will die. Permanently.

Challenge to Duel to the Death- Similar to the pit except your sim can loose
the
duel and die. Use with caution

Daily Responsibilities

Hold Court- Holding court is possible by clicking on your throne. While you
sit
on your grand throne, citizens will come and request you make decisions for
them. Most commonly you will need to give them money, so be sure you have
enough
in the royal coffers to dish money out. Of course unless you want to be an
evil
ruler. Each decision will effect your renown and you can easily max your
popularity with the people by choosing the good decisions each time.

Checck further down for a list of Random Encounters while Holding Court

Proposing Edicts- At the tactical map one of the many options is to Propose an
Edict. Based on the current situation you can propose edicts that effect the
neighboring countries positively or negatively. Of course you want to keep
both
kindgoms happy, but they oppose each other on the core level, so one decision
that favors one will essentially piss the other off.
After passing an edict you can wait the two hours, or click the map again to
call the vote. You can monitor the voting preference to see how your people
are
voting as well. Check this before you call the vote, as you are the last one
to
vote and can fail a bad vote by tying or win the vote you want.

Proposing extra edicts in one day will cause Loyalty from other territories to
slightly decrease, regardless of outcome. The effect is slight, so don't be
afraid to pass some bills!

Ask 2 Citizens about Life in XXXX- Just choose any two citizens. You may need
to
have an interaction or two before the option is available.

Write 2 New Laws- Use the Scribe table to write out two laws.

Write Treaty of Ongoing Peace- Use the scribe table to write out this treaty.

Hunt and Kill a Great Bear- Travel to the forest and hunt for the bear

Leveling Up:

Write Royal Documents- Using a Scribe Table, choose to Write a Royal Document.
Youll recieve a smidgeon of 9XP every few seconds until the document is
finished.

Practice Military Strategy- Using the Tactical Map, sim will play figurines
earning 13XP every few seconds. The time they practice is short, so pull out
the
tab next the the task in the que to make them practice indefinitely until you
want them to stop. Probably the best way to level a Monarch outside of
questing.

Practice- Click on a practice dummy to train until combat ready. Choose to
train
indefinitely for a power session. You will earn about 9XP every few seconds.

Patrol the High Seas- Select the ship and choose to patrol. You earn about
11XP
every now and then. Not the best for leveling but better chance of Random
Encounters.

Hunt- Go to the forest and hunt. Get about 11XP every few seconds.
Also a good chance of random encounters and earning meat.

Patrol Forest- Earn about 9XP every few seconds, with chance of random
encounter.

The Blacksmith BLACK

The blacksmith is responsible for making weapons and such for the kingdom. If
crappy items are made, then they can be put in the stocks. Make sure to travel
around the kingdom and discover all ore deposits so you can make easy work of
harvesting your equipment. Blacksmiths can also make quick cash by making
weapons over and over (more for excellent or legendary classes) and you can
bling out your fighting classes with awesome armor and weapons. Remember that
you can drag items from your inventory to other Hero Sims to give it to them.
The best way to make money with the Smith is to make Expert Paddles over and
over and sell them.

Fix and Deliver Broken Sword- A broken sword will appear in the inventory and
you can fix it at the forge without using materials. Afterwards a quest marker
will appear where you can deliver it to.

The Merchant MERCH

The merchant has the ability to make money the fastest from the start. A good
trait to have for your merchant is Greedy and Haggler, as you get buffs every
time you make a sell, and you get better profit as well. Try to refrain from
trading via ship too much, as XP wise, it doesn't provide as much XP or money
off of trades. Stick to making sales at your stall and only set sail when it's
a responsibility.

The merchant will not make any money without you doing an action. This means
that just because you open your market, doesn't mean sims will buy on their
own! Ask to buy goods is the money maker!

	5-
	6-

8- Very high profit margin when buying and selling goods, Very good

	10

Special Actions:

Ask to Buy Goods- Ask a sim to buy goods from your stall. You need to know the
sim at least a little, and you can never use this unless you Butter them Up
or Hustle them. You only have to Hustle them once to make this become
available. Butter Up needs to be used multiple times

Hustle- Hustle your customer so you can push sales better

Bribe- Give sim some money to make them like you better. This will be the only
merchant option unless you are near a stall and it is open for business.

Compliment taste- Merchant specific action that helps to push sales. Use hustle
unless this is a daily responsibility

Butter Up- Butters up your customer so you can ask them to buy goods. Use
hustle unless this is a daily responsibilty

Open for Business- Clicking one of your stalls and selecting this will open the
stalls and cause sims to come to the market and shop. If you leave the
immediate area, the stalls will close and you must re open them. If you cannot
choose to open a stall, check your merchandise to make sure you have something
to sell. Once you complete that action, let the menu refresh and then you will
be able to open up shop

Close for Business- Closes up shop and makes sims (for the most part) leave the
area.

Check Merchandise- Allows you to add items for sale. Best advice I can give is
to buy high dollar items and just put those items. When you ask sims to buy
goods they will almost always buy the least expensive item. If that item is
$800, you just made a good sale! Put in large amounts of cheap items (stacks of
99?) in order to level up fast without restocking.

Browse- Serves no purpose. Sim examines wares.

Investigate Today's Market- Clicking on the Village Shoppe will allow you to
choose this. Gives a list of hot selling items. I don't see the point in this
option as you can sell whatever you want in your stalls.

Daily Responsibilities:
The Merchant has many extremely easy responsibilities. Only annoying ones are
those that require you to travel and trade, which to me is a waste of time.

Aquire one wood via trading and deliver to carpenter- Unfortunatley you can't
just stock up on wood to give the carpenter, like you can stock up on extra
weapons and armor for the blacksmith. You must travel to trade every time you
get this responsibility. Be sure to allow ample time to travel for this one

Ask 2 Customers to Buy- Easy task, makes you some XP and some cash *thumbs up*

Compliment 2 customer's taste- Easy peasie

Open stall for business-Eaaaaaaaasy

Learn Hot Items and Buy Items- Go to the Village Shoppes but select Investigate
Today's Market. You must buy at least one item that is hot for that day to
complete.

Leveling Up:

Traveling Trade-

Pushing Sales-

Balancing Books- Choose a scribe table and select balance the books. Earn ~9XP
every few seconds. No way to do this indefinitely and is slower than trying to
convince people to buy goods. Avoid using this.

 The Sims- Medieval /--------------------------------------------------------o
   -------o----------\ QUESTS q0 |
                      \-------------------------------------------------------o

In this section I go into detail the tasks, decisions and rewards of quests
that you can partake in The Sims Medieval. Understand that during quests where
there are multiple tasks to perform together, that there is no specific order
that you need to complete them in. I list the tasks in the order that they
show up on the screen. If one task will be easier for you to accomplish, by all
means, tackle that one first. Based on your performance, you will possibly earn
more RP, money and experience. Each quest below will go into detail to show
what each trophy will earn you. You should always take your time with quests
and strive for platinum. Those extra RP will allow you to build your kingdom
up quicker before you use up all your QP for the chosen Ambition.

Below each Quest Loot box you will see nomenclature for the kingdom aspects
that will benefit you. I tried to keep them pretty obvious but here's a quick
key:

C- Culture	K- Knowledge	S- Security WB- Well-Being

No questions? Good.

There are multiple approaches to some quests, varying from different main Hero
Sims to different approaches by one sim. Rewards can vary between approaches,
so be sure to check out the different Quest Loot for each.

After completing each quest, the quests will be rerolled. This means you will
receive a random new batch of quests.

If you see a quest with a ! in the upper corner, this means that the rewards
for kingdom aspects exceeds your current capacity for it. Meaning don't do it,
or you'll waste precious points. Increase your capacity first.

Any Quest with a Trophy instead of a symbol for the kingdom aspect to be
increased is a more or less special quest which may provide with a legendary
trait. Making the right choices will lead to switching out that horrible fatal
flaw you chose for a great trait. See the section on legendary traits for more
information.

This quest will give you a Legendary Trait

The tasks you need to perform for this quest will vary slightly depending on
the fatal flaw your character has. Because of the large number of flaws, I
will not have a complete list of tasks for this quest for every flaw. However,
I will leave place holders for them, and insert as I discover them. The actual
tasks you must perform are the same regardless of Hero Sim and their flaw.

Gaining Domestic Support:
After holding court there are two ways to delve into politics. One is to start
action, and the other is to read up first. Either way both lead to gathering
your thoughts and making the next big decision. Giving a speech is
the easier option and also quicker to accomplish, because if you choose firmly
grasp each ourstretched hand you need to wait until 0700 to complete the next
task. In my case it was just past 0900 and I had to just sit there and kill
time until then. Giving a speech options are very straight forward, while you
may have difficulty with choosing FIrmly Clasp because you need to fight a
bandit that has some skill. If you haven't leveled your monarch sufficiently
(Which you should have close to being maxed out if you're playing right) then
take some time here to get a level or two to ensure success. Realize that going
to the forest for any reason before dueling the bandit will lead to the bandit
attacking you and you will not be able to cancel the action. I went there to
hunt a bear and was attacked. Even if you choose to kill the bandit, your
character will only be knocked out if they loose all health or stamina! I can
confirm this because I let myself be defeated twice, and nothing happens,
apart from having to wait to recover and many negative buffs due to injury.
If you choose duel to the death and knock the bandit out, choose send to pit
and after they regain consciousness the constible will take them away.
Otherwise, the grim reaper will do his business. If you knock him out, and it
is your last task, quest complete.

No matter what course of action you take, you end up with the same rewards.

Gaining Foreign Support:
You begin this version of Power Grab by checking out the Political Situation
via Tactical Map. Now this is the actual object your sim interacts with, NOT
the one via Kingdom View. Draw up both invitations and give them to the Royal
Advisor. Kill an hour until they return, and greet them. When you talk to your
advisor she gives you some inside information on the two dignitaries, and you
are provided with two options for both of them. Note: This quest will NOT
affect territory loyalty. Despite your quest actions, the only way to increase
territory loyalty is through the passing of edicts.

I focused on one at a time, as there are quite a few actions you must perform.
The gender of the dignitaries will vary based on you Monarch sim's gender.

Smithmaster: Poison- If you choose to poison the Smithmaster and Protector, you
may get to the point where you need to serve a tampered drink. Since there are
no quest markers, you may be stuck for a while. If you do not yet have a beer
cask, purchase one, and when you select it in Live Mode, choose Brew and select
the adult beverage of your choice. Once brewed, you can choose to serve
tampered drink, and then the 10-year itch poison. After preparing it, you must
choose who to serve it to. I intentionally served it to the wrong person, and
didn't seem to do anything. Once you serve them both the poison and spill the
beans, you are then able to administer the antidote. Waiting to do so will not
cause them to die and fail your quest.

Smithmaster: Impressing- Here you choose to impress the Smithmaster with a good
sweet brew. Send off the advisor with 50 Simoles, and get the supplies when
they return. Read the book of sweets, then buy a cask if you do not own one yet
and brew the Sangria. You may need to purchase a honey if you do not have one
in your inventory, as the recipe requires one. Serve the Smithmaster a drink
from the cask, and you will win his support in exchange for the recipe.

Merchant Prince: Seducing- Choosing this option requires you to become friends
with the Prince. After becoming friends, do a bit of flirting by choosing the
three special actions, then ask about his spouse. He doesn't seem to care in
the slightest, so we'll lure him in more by planing a secret rendezvous. Of
course, we don't like to do our own dirty work, so we'll send our ever faithful
royal advisor to impersonate you and get the report when they come back. You
will recieve some undergarments that are sure to come in handy as blackmail.
Confront the merchant prince, and you'll earn, although rather underhandedly,
his support.

Merchant Prince: Rekindling- Here you will play matchmaker for a while (in a
way) by becoming friends with the Prince's spouse and then planning a makeover
session! YAY! send your royal advisor out with a shopping list and go to the
messenger post box to make an appointment with the village barber. Send the
spouse there, and wait for your advisor and the spouse to return. Get the
risque supplies from the advisor, and check out the awesome hairdo the spouse
has before sending her with your advisor off to the woods to practice some
dirty dancing. When your advisor returns, send off the Merchant Prince to her,
and wait for them to come back. Have a chat, and you'll discover that he had
a few interesting experiences, and give you his loyalty.

                           -Recipes-
-------------------------------------------------------------------------------
Not all recipes will allow the crafting of an item just by having the items
needed. For instance, there are special weapons and armor that require either
the recipe book or a high enough smithing level to create. If the item appears
in grey when selecting the item used to make it, you are able to make it, but
lack the required items.

                       B0f -BUFFS-
-------------------------------------------------------------------------------

Positive Buffs:

A Job Well Done- (+20 Focus, 8H, 11H) Recieved after completing a
Responsibility. 11 hours for 2 responsibilities.

Attractive- (+10, 2H) When a Sim looks this good, it's difficult for others
not
to notice. Wowza! From Gussy'ing up in a mirror. Good combo with Vain Trait.

Bathed- (+10 Focus, 8H) Experience the clean sensation of practicing personal
hygene!

Carefree- (+10 Focus, 3 H) From lack of faith

Cheered Up- (+15 Focus, 2H) Gobs of sobs are stopped by the kind words
of others.

Comforted- (+15 Focus, 3H) A quick cry on the shoulder helps the sadness go
away. Received from talking to a sim with the Good trait.

Delectable Meal- (+15 Focus, 5H) What a delectable meal! From eating a well
prepared meal, or meal that a Creative Cook sim makes.

Delicious- (+15 Focus, 3H) Yummy food always hits the spot! From eating
delicious food. Creative Cook sims make food that buffs this constantly

Combat Ready- (+10 Focus, 11H) Sim is ready for combat! From practicing on the
combat dummy until combat ready

Comfy- (+10 Focus, -) Sitting in a comfy chair will spawn this buff. Good for
as
long as you're sitting in it.

Entertained- (+25 Focus, ) Sim is having wuite a good time and is keeping
stress down.

Fresh Breath- (+10 Focus, 24H) Fresh and minty breath! Buff from random
encounter. Long lasting!

Decorated- (+10 Focus, -) Sims enjoy well-furnished homes. By the looks of
things, this place isnt so bad! By adding furniture with good Environment
stats collectively, you can always have this buff on your sims. Not sure if
this is specific to floors/rooms yet, but it does not seem to be. Still
working on the threshold number of environment to look for.

Having a Blast- (+40 Focus, 2H) Not sure how this one spawns but occurs for me
when I'm already in high spirits and doing things the sim loves doing.

Herbalist- (+15 Focus, 2H) XXXX enjoys practicing his plant harvesting skills.
From harvesting

Inspired- (+10 Focus, 3H) A brilliant flash of insight has inspired sim! From
gathering thoughts.

Intrigued- (+10 Focus, ) Juicy gossip satisfies eager ears! From
socialization,
specifically the "Gossip" option

Finished a Book- (+20 Focus, 20H) Not every book ends with a happoly ever
after,
but hey, I'm just glad I can read! This is a long lasting powerful buff. If
you
have a lot of negative buffs stacked against you, buy a book case and read a
book. They dont take long to read at all.

Marvelous Meal- (+30 Focus, 5H) Maaaaarvelous! Buff recieved from eating a well
prepared (item intensive) or meal prepared by a creative cook sim.

Moderatley Mauled- (-20 Focus, 11H) Hmmm... Maybe I really shouldn't be playing
tag with a half-ton bear. May be mauled while in the forest. Use a Healing
salve or visit the physician.

New Friend- (+20 Focus, 9H) Meeting someone new and hitting it well
enough to call them a friend is spiffy! Make a new friend.

Nicely Decorated- (+25 Focus, ---) Well-designed decor stands out in a good way
and tends to make everyone happier. The better version of the decorated buff.

Passed an Edict- (+15 Focus, ) Monarch specific buff recieved for an edict
sucessfully passing whether positive or not.

Refreshed- (+5 Focus, 1H) Cool, clean water is wonderfully revitalizing. From
drinking well water.

Relaxing Stroll- (+15 Focus, 6H) A nice walk at a comfortable pace and a
breath of fresh air is just what I needed! From being alone. Take a stroll
in the forest to recieve this buff.

Relieved- (+5 Focus, 2H) Whew! made it ot the chamberpot just in time! From
using chamberpot. Sims in TSM don't need to use the bathroom ever, so its a
nice
quick buff to add.

Seafood Overload- (+20 Focus, 2H) The bounty of the sea, happily occupying a
large section of sim's stomach. Buff gained from random encounter

Succulent Treat- (+40 Focus, 3H) Yum! Such a succulent treat! From eating or
drinking something well prepared. Not specifically true, because you can earn
this buff from eating Barley Bread. Strong buff but not long lasting.

Uplifted- (+35 Focus, 4H) Well that was just what you needed! Buff given
through random encounter

Well Rested- (+5 Focus, 10H) It's easy to wake up on the right side of the bed
when you get plenty of time in the bed. Comfortable beds (there will be an
icon
with +++ signs when purchasing one) will always give this buff.

Won a Fistfight- (+15 Focus, 8H) Float like a pegasus, sting like a wyveryn!
From winning a fistfight.

Victorious- (+15 Focus, 9H) The thrill of victory is always a welcome addition
to a Sim's mood. From combat.

NEGATIVE BUFFS

Appauled- (-10 Focus, 3H) Sim is horrified over what they just heard. Sometimes
uncouth sims go too far! Buff recieved when sims with the Uncouth flaw interact
with them.

Bad Night's Sleep- (-15 Focus, 5H) Sleeping on a cheap bed would make any Sim 3
Grumpy. From sleeping on a cheap bed.

Bland Meal- (-5 Focus, 4H) Eating gruel or flat bread which require no
purchased ingredients will add this buff. At first this may be hard to avoid,
but go to the village shoppe and purchase Barley once you can afford a stove
(~500). You can prepare bread that you can carry with you to eat. This is the
cheapest method to keeping hunger at bay, and while it may not add an
excellent meal buff, you will keep Bland Meal away.

Churdle Pain! (-50 Focus, 3H) Curse you Churdle! Sim feels rot and decay
spreading through his body! From drinking Churdle's Potion

Defeat- (-15 Focus, 5H) The agony of defeat can really bring a sim down. From
loosing a battle.

Demoralized- (-20 Focus, 3H) Sim is demoralized from not fulfilling their
responsibility. Buff from not completing daily responsibilities, or random
encounter.

Fatigued- (-5 Focus, 2H) Too much physical exertion has left sim exhausted.
From combat.

Greviously Wounded- (-40 Focus, 12H) Wow. Who would have thought that gaping
w4pounds, massive blunt force trauma, and losing half your blood would put a
damper on your spirits? Huh. Turns into Major Laceration after it times out.

Humiliated by Stocks- (-30 Focus, ---, 5H) Alas, Sim is feeling the
humiliation that only a medievil punishment device cnan evoke. From stocks

Lost A Friend (-25 Focus, 24H) Oh no, you've lost a friend! Relationships have
their ups and downs but surely there's something you can do to patch things
up.
From socialization. Just apologize to the sim and span good things to recover
the relationship

Major Laceration- (-30 Focus, 9H) Looks liek sim came out on the loosing side
after that latest round of "intense negotiations" From combat. Greviously
wounded turns to this after it times out.

Moderate Injury- (-20 Focus, 10H) Sim got a bit roughed up after that last
fight. From combat. When health gets precariously low, you will receive this
buff

Nightmare- (-10 Focus, 7H) Yikes, I hope I don't have that dream again!
received during random encounter while sleeping.

Pent Up Anger- (-20, ---) Must... find... victi... to vent upon! From cruel
fatal flaw. Must use traits for social interaction to remove.

Searching- (-5 Focus, 2H) From Lack of Faith.
Upset- (-15 Focus, 3H) Its hard to endure the rough patches wiht those you
care about. From socialization. Having a negative reaction from a sim may add
this.

Shirked Responsibility- (-20 Focus, 6H (Varies)) LEaving duty to the kingdom
unfulfilled is putting a damper on sims mood

-------------------------------------------------------------------------------
                              -Legendary Traits- LEG
-------------------------------------------------------------------------------

Legendary traits are traits which replace fatal flaws. They are much better
than your standard traits and you should go the extra mile to get every one
of your hero sims one. You can only have one legendary trait, and completing a
quest which gives you one after you already have one does not allow you to
choose a different one. Choose your trait wisely

There are several quests which offer a legendary trait provided you choose the
proper answers

-Fountain of Legend

Traits:

Patient- Patiend Sims aren't in any hurry, and their relaxed, laid-back nature
makes it easier for them to make friends and be granted leniency in their
responsibilities. Havent used yet but believe it allows you to skip out on
daily responsibilities without negative buffs

Natural Leader- NaturalLeaders are admired and looked up to by other Sims, and
they know how to inspire and encourage everyone around them.

Industrious- Industrious sims have got it made. money flows into their pickets
like a river flows into the sea. The question is what to do with all that cash:
give some back to the peope, or squeeze 'em dry? Sims earn significanlty more
money from their profession and your sim can give money to others as charity.

Strong Constitution- Sims have bodies that can withstand anything life throws
at them. Their overpowered immune systems an cast iron stomachs can easily
shrug off sickness hangovers and food poisoning..

Wise- Wise sims are gifted with a profound understanding of the world and are
valued for their insight and sound judgement
-------------------------------------------------------------------------------
                              -RANDOM ENCOUNTERS- R4n
-------------------------------------------------------------------------------

While on your adventures in the woods, or at sea, or in the caves, even
travelling to the village shoppe, you may recieve a random encounter that
forces
you to make a decision. Not all are specifically good or bad choices, and the
right choice one time for the scenario may not be the same for the same
scenario
the next.

                            -Tips & Tricks-
------------------------------------------------------------------------------

- You can sell items from your inventory at any time without having to travel
to
a shop. Just drag an item or stack of items to the empty box beside the
inventory to sell them at the same price. Excellent for a quick simole!

-If a sim is running away while you're trying to interact with it just hit P
to freeze them in their tracks!

-You can trade items to other Hero Sims even when they aren't playable by
dragging the item from the inventory onto the other sim. The next time you
play the Sim it will be in their inventory.

- Reading a book is by far one of the best and easiest buffs to get. Get a book
case and read a book EVERY DAY. The buff lasts for 24H and adds +20 Focus. Too
good to pass up.
