1.                                Introduction

===============================================================================


Maddog Williams is an adventure game made by Game Crafters. It features Maddog
Williams as an inventor living in the town of Marinor. Having received a
reputation for bad inventions after his latest device catapulted a glass of
beer at a vicious thug in a pub, Maddog decides it would be best to leave. As
he collects his belongings, Maddog stumbles upon a cave where a sacrifice is
about to start. A quick rescue mission later, and a grateful maiden tells him
that her father is being held captive by an evil wizard in the dungeons of
Duridian. Maddog decides to make the long journey to the dungeons to save him.

2.                                Walkthrough

===============================================================================


MARINOR
-------

The game starts in Maddog's house, where he is woken by a splash of water from
his alarm clock invention. OPEN the DRAWER at the top of the room and GET the
SOCKS from it. GET the SWORD on the shelf at the right side of the room. Walk
down the steps and GET the BREAD on the table. OPEN the CABINET and GET the
CUP. Walk west to the next room. OPEN the BOX on the counter and GET the COINS.
GET the BEER SERVER. Move south and east. A pirate walks toward Maddog in this
area. Press F1 to enter fight mode and keep tapping shift to defeat the pirate.
Refer to the easter eggs and secrets section for a simple way to win battles.

Move south three times, west into the cave and north-west to the stone image
room. SAY STOP to stop the sacrifice. Move west to the altar room. UNTIE the
ROPE. GET the AMULET. GET the ROPE. Move east, north and west. GET the ROPE on
the wagon. Move north. Enter the pub. GIVE the BEER SERVER TO FRANK. FIX the
BEER SERVER. CUT the ROPE with the sword to be thrown out of the pub. Move
north and west. GIVE BREAD TO the ELF and GET the POTION. Move south. BUY the
AXE from the miller. GET the AXE. Move south and west to enter the forest.


FOREST
------

Move north five times. GET the MUSHROOMS (Maddog will automatically test one
and faint). Continue north to the clearing and then east to the area with the
door. SPEAK SOFTLY FRIEND AND ENTER to open the door. SHOW the AMULET TO the
GNOME and he will ask Maddog to enter his house. Enter the house. Wait for the
gnome to finish his story and offer a flask filled with the waters of changing
to Maddog. GET the FLASK. Exit the house. Move south, west and then continue
south to the area with the tree near the sand. CUT the TREE WITH the AXE and
then PUSH the TREE to make it fall into the sand. Walk west to the other side
of the tree. Continue north to the ancient village. GET the BUCKET. CLIMB INTO
the WELL. PUT the AMULET IN the INDENTATION. Walk north through the doorway.


CAVERN
------

Move west twice to the sand room. Type THROW MUSHROOM and walk into the middle
of the sand to be attacked by a monster. Quickly press return to make the
creature go to sleep. Move north to the troll room. Press F1 to enter battle
mode and defeat the troll using the same method as the pirate. GET the STAFF.
Move south. Type THROW MUSHROOM and press return when Maddog is caught by the
monster again. Move south and east twice. CLIMB UNDER the BRIDGE.

Move east. BREAK the LOCK on the door and GET the LOCK. OPEN the DOOR and GET
the DIARY. Move north three times. If there is a spider web behind the left
doorway, walk south and east to enter the snake sculpture room. If there isn't
a spider web, PULL the LEVER. Move north and east twice. GET the SNAKE HEAD.
PUT the SNAKE HEAD ON the SNAKE. Move down and east. SMELL the WATER of each
pool to find the clear liquid. FILL the BUCKET WITH WATER from the pool with
the clear liquid. THROW the WATER ON the FIRE. Move north. Walk through the
simple random maze and go through the tunnel to exit the cavern.


VALLEY
------

A cyclops is guarding the path to the village. Type DRINK FLASK and walk east
toward the cyclops. Quickly press return when the cyclops walks toward Maddog
to transform into a rock. The cyclops will kick the rock toward the village,
where Maddog will eventually return to his normal self. Move north.


VILLAGE
-------

OPEN the DOOR and enter the tavern. GIVE the STAFF TO the MAN sitting at the
bottom-right corner of the tavern. GET the LAMP from the table. GET the MATCHES
from the shelf above the fireplace. OPEN the DOOR and exit the tavern. Move
north. Walk to the middle door and KNOCK on the DOOR. SHOW the AMULET TO the
MAN. Move east. GET the JUG from the lake. Move south and east. Walk down the
mountain path. RUB the POTION ON SELF. Walk toward the creature and it will run
away. Move east twice. THROW the JUG ON the MUD. THROW the MATCH ON the MUD to
dry the mudpit. Move north. RUB the LAMP to make the dragon appear. Complete
the arcade sequence by pressing shift to defeat the three dragons.


CASTLE
------

Move north three times. Defeat the guard and SEARCH the GUARD for gold pieces.
Move west. Walk to the north door and OPEN the DOOR. Move north and west.
Defeat the guard and SEARCH the GUARD for the keys. UNLOCK the DOOR using the
keys and then OPEN the DOOR. Move north to resuce the maiden. Move south, east,
south and east twice. GET the APPLE. OPEN the DOOR. Move north and east. UNLOCK
the CHEST and GET the SCEPTER. Walk to the mirror and answer its questions.

The mirror will ask three out of a list of the following questions:
What creature can be seen from the west wing tower?: CENTAUR.
What danger is in the moat?: MOSS.
What is behind the bolted door?: MONSTER.
What is behind the bookcase?: HOLE.
What is behind the tapestry in the west wing?: NOTHING.
Who is imprisoned in the west wing?: FAITH.
Who is the demon god?: MALTHAZAR.
Who is the servant of the demon god?: BRAGG.

Enter MALTHAIC POWERS as the magic words. Move east. PUSH the CHEST. Move west,
south twice, west twice and north. OPEN the DOOR. Move north. Walk to the
middle of the room and jump over the gap. TIE the ROPE TO the ROPE and then TIE
the ROPE TO the TORCH. CLIMB DOWN the ROPE. Move east and north. SIT ON the
THRONE. PUT the SCEPTER IN the INDENTATION to descend to the dungeons.


DUNGEONS
--------

Move west and GET the ROCK. Move west again and GET the ROCK. Move north and
defeat the guard. GET the ROCK. Move east and GET the ROCK. Move east again and
GET the ROCK. PUT the BUCKET ON the CHAIN. PUT all of the ROCKS IN the BUCKET.
Move north. OPEN the CHEST and GET the CONTAINER. Move east. OPEN the CHEST and
GET the COINS. Move south twice. Defeat the guard. Move west. Walk toward the
crack and DRINK the TONIC. Move north. OPEN the CHEST and GET the ELIXIR. Move
east. Walk only on the cracks of the tiles. Walk east, south and east. GIVE the
SOCKS TO the MAN. Move west and south. Jump onto the stone and GET the GEM.
Drop into the water and swim to the other side of the cave to exit the pool.

Move west. OPEN the CHEST and GET the WARBALL AND CHAIN. WEAR the WARBALL AND
CHAIN. Walk south to avoid the arrow. Continue south and defeat the guard. Move
east. Jump across the pillars. This is a tricky section so make sure to save
the game after landing on each one. Move east after making it to the other side
of the room. OPEN the CHEST and GET the COINS. Move north. PUT the GEM ON the
PEDESTAL. Move north twice. OPEN the SARCOPHAGUS and GET IN the SARCOPHAGUS.
Open the door. Move north. OPEN the CHEST and GET the ELIXIR. Move north and
east. Defeat the dragon. GET the BREASTPLATE and then WEAR the BREASTPLATE.
Move west twice and defeat the guard. Move west. FREE the MAN. PULL the TORCH.
Move west, up three times and east. BREAK the MIRROR to complete the game.

3.                                 Item List

2 ROPES TIED TOGETHER
  Made by using the short cotton rope on the short hemp rope. It is tied the
  torch in the room with the gap in the castle.


APPLE
  Found on the table in the library at the castle. It is not used.


AXE
  Bought from the miller in Marinor. It is used on the tree near the sand in
  the forest.


BEER SERVER
  Found on the counter in the antique shop at Maddog's house. It is given to
  Pete in the pub.


BOX OF MATCHES
  Found on the shelf on the fireplace in the tavern at the village. After the
  jug of XXX has been thrown on the mudpit near the village, the box of matches
  are used on the mudpit to dry it.


BRASS LAMP
  Found on the table after giving the staff to the man in the tavern at the
  village. It is rubbed in the area after the mudpit to make the dragon appear.


BREASTPLATE
  Found in the room with the dragon in the dungeons. It is worn by Maddog.


BUCKET FILLED WITH LIQUID
  Found by using the empty bucket on the clear liquid in the stone image room
  in the cavern. It is thrown on the fire in the stone image room.


CUP
  Found in the cupboard in the dining room at Maddog's house. It is not used.


DIARY
  Found by opening the door after the bridge in the cavern. It is not used.


ELIXIR
  Found in various chests in the dungeons. They are used to restore Maddog's
  health.


EMPTY BUCKET
  Found in front of the well at the ancient village. It is used on the clear
  liquid in the stone image room in the cavern. It is used on the chain in the
  dungeons.


FLASK FILLED WITH WATERS OF CHANGING
  Found in the gnome's house in the forest. It is drunk in the area with the
  cyclops.


GEM
  Found on top of the rock in the pool in the dungeons. It is used on the
  pedestal in the dungeons.


GOLDEN AMULET
  Found after rescuing the princess in the cave in Marinor. It is shown to the
  gnome in the forest. It is used on the indentation at the bottom of the well
  in the ancient village. It is shown to the man in the middle house north of
  the tavern in the village.


JUG OF XXX
  Found in the lake in the village. It is thrown on the mudpit near the
  village.


KEYS
  Found by searching the guard after defeating him in the castle. They are used
  to open the door to the maiden's room. They are used to open the chest in the
  bedroom.


LOAF OF BREAD
  Found on the table in the dining room at Maddog's house. It is given to the
  elf in the area west of Maddog's house.


MUSHROOMS
  Three mushrooms are found on the tree in the forest. Maddog eats one
  mushroom. The other two mushrooms are used on the monster under the sand in
  the cavern.


POTION
  Found by giving the loaf of bread to the elf in Marinor. It is rubbed on
  Maddog in the area with the creature near the village.


ROCKS
  Found in various rooms near the start of the dungeons. The six rocks are used
  on the empty bucket on the chain.


RUSTY LOCK
  Found by breaking the lock on the door after the bridge in the cavern. It is
  not used.


SCEPTER
  Found in the chest in the bedroom at the castle. It is used on the
  indentation in the throne in the castle.


SHORT COTTON ROPE
  Found on the wagan in the area south of the pub in Marinor. It is tied to the
  short hemp rope in the inventory.


SHORT HEMP ROPE
  Found on the floor after rescuing the princess in the cave in Marinor. It is
  tied to the short cotton rope in the inventory.


SHRINKING TONIC
  Found in the chest in the room with the statue in the dungeons. It is drunk
  in the room with the spiked ceiling in the dungeons.


SOCKS
  Found in the dresser in the bedroom at Maddog's house. They are given to the
  man in the cell in the dungeons.


STAFF
  Found at the back of the troll's room in the cavern. It is given to the man
  in the tavern at the village.


STONE SNAKE HEAD
  Found on the floor in the room with the snake sculpture in the cavern. It is
  used on the snake sculpture.


SWORD
  Found on the shelf in the bedroom at Maddog's house. It is used to cut the
  chandelier rope after starting the fight in the pub.


WARBALL AND CHAIN
  Found in the chest after the room with the dragon statues in the dungeons. It
  is worn to avoid the arrow in the dungeons.

EASY BATTLES
------------

There is a simple way of winning all of the fights in the game. Face away from
the enemy and let him get near to Maddog. Now press F1 and keep pressing shift
to attack. As long as you keep facing away, Maddog will deal normal damage to
the enemy but will take only minor damage in return.
