This is my first guide I've made and it's for one of my favourite games, RuneScape. I plan to make more guides in the future but we'll just tackle them one at a time. I got 99 woodcutting last year and it took ages to get so I've decided to make this guide so all you other Woodcutters don't get lost like me. Thanks, and enjoy! =) _ _ _ _ _ ********************************* _ _ _ _ _ __-About Me-__ I am me for those of you who don't know. I play RuneScape regularly. Last year I got 99 woodcutting (finally). It took Hell long to get and I didn't have a guide to make it easier. I'm relatively new to Supercheats but I had a guy a fair while back that I used to post on Ralf_Da_Bald_Guy (I think, I can't remember. It was similar to that anyways) and have just started to post again with this guy. And really that's all you need to know about me. (I'm interesting, aren't I?) _ _ _ _ _ ********************************* _ _ _ _ _ __-Contacting Me-__ If you wntto contact me because you (dis)like my guide, have an comments about it, think I'm awesome, just want to talk to me,are conserned about my welfare, or have any questions for me, you can get me in 1 of 4 ways: Hotmail/Email ([email protected])(this is just for emails, don't try yo use it as my MSN as I never check it gets spammed daily.) MSN ([email protected]) Supercheats forums (RuneScape 2 forum mostly) on RuneScape (my private chat is on friends but you can join my clan (if it's open for all, my name is Desertfusion) (I most likely will be on my other account Vaxtreme playing arcanists but his private chat is open) Thinking about me when you fall asleep. If you can't get hold of me I'll either be sleeping or at school not learning. If you still can't get hold of me take not I live in the time zone GMT+8 (Eastern Standard Time is GMT-5)(For those not so bright, GMT is Greenwich (however you spell it) Mean Time, The Time it is in London without daylight savings) _ _ _ _ _ ********************************* _ _ _ _ _ __-Legal Mumbo Jumbo-__ This guide is mine (Desertfusion), meaning I own it. It is 100% my own creation and in no way copied, stolen, robbed off anyone/thing else. Steal it and I'll hunt you down and turn you inside out. You MUST (keyword) have consent/permission from me to use it. If I find it on any website that does not have permission I will burn it down. If you find me in a particularly unhappy mood I may take legal action but I am a very sombre man so I probably won't. 99.99% of the people who ask permission to use this guide will be able to so long as it remains the EXACTLY (another keyword) the same. If you wish to edit please ask me with the most formal email you can muster stating how and why (see Contacting Me). _ _ _ _ _ ********************************* _ _ _ _ _ __-Introduction to Woodcutting-__ So, you are interested in woodcutting? Then this is the guide for you. It will answer your questions about woodcutting and give you a step by step guide from whatever level you are to 99 Woodcutting. Woodcutting is a moderately long skill that requires very little money input but has large money output. Woodcutting allows you to cut wood from trees which may be used for Firemaking, Fletching, or possibly Construction. _ _ _ _ _ ********************************* _ _ _ _ _ __-Beginner-__ (levels 1 - 30) You have just finished the Tutorial and have learnt the very basics from the Woodcutting Tutor. Now, to get started you need your bronze axe. In Lumbridge forest you will notice it has an excess of trees for you to cut. Unfortunately, they only have 1 log each, so you will have to pay attention for the first bit of your journey. Cut trees until you have a full inventory, then go up to the top of Lumbridge Castle and deposite your logs in the bank. Repeat until you have level 6 woodcutting (easy enough as it only takes 21 logs). Once you have 6 woodcutting, you should try getting your hands on a steel woodcutting axe, it cuts slightly faster than bronze but it makes alot of difference. Continue cutting normal trees until you reach level 15 which is 76 more logs. Upon reaching level 15 and reading the rewards, you will discover you can now cut oak trees. Oak trees, like all further trees, give multiple logs per tree so you can click on the tree and talk to your friends while waiting for your tree to die. Deposite your inventory when your bag is full. 70 oak logs until your next improvement. Oaks a very well dispersed throughout the world of RuneScape. The best place, I think, is just outside of Varrock to the east of the East Bank, cut it down and then run and deposite it while you wait for the tree to regrow. When you reach 21 woodcutting, I suggest investing in a mithril axe. Again this axe is slightyl faster than the steel one. Continue cutting 220 or so oak trees until you reach 30 woodcutting and are ready to move on to your next level. _ _ _ _ _ ********************************* _ _ _ _ _ __-Intermediate-__ (levels 30 - 75) Congratulations, you can now cut willows. Willows are the fastest exp by a long way until you reach 60 woodcutting. Improve your axe to addy at level 31 and then to rune at level 41. It's about 3.85 thousand willow logs to reach level 60, but it is do-able. Willows don't really sell for much though as I don't recall them being used for much, maybe fletching for beginners. Willows are best cut in Draynor Village, they're located right beside the bank, and there are plenty of them to go around, watchout for Dark Wizards if you are a lower level, if you are under level 15 combat try cutting the to willows at the far end so the wizards can't get you. Upon reaching level 60 there is really no need to continue cutting if you are not a member as there is nothing else you can do, unless you want to cut yews for some cold, hard cash (Yews sell for a fair bit and almost instantly in the Grand Exchange). If you are a member, yews are not the way to go as they come very, very slowly. Instead you should cut maple trees in Seer's Village, right beside Camelot. They're located literally right behind the bank. You have a fair bit of work to do now. After 285 or so maple logs you will reach level 61 woodcutting, if you have the cash you should try and buy a dragon axe, they're quite expensive but cut about twice as fast as a rune axe, so it's a huge improvement. Continue cutting maples until you reach level 75 woodcutting. Unfortunately, this is about 9,000 logs away. But keep at it. _ _ _ _ _ ********************************* _ _ _ _ _ __-Expert-__ (levels 75 - 99) You have now been cutting for an unbelievably long time, but the rewards will start to reap in soon. Consider yourself an expert at woodcutting, but still you aren't quite a woodcutting master. You'll find you can now cut Magic trees. Don't. They are ungodly slow and far from a bank and usually foudn just by themselves so you have to wait while they regrow. I recommend that you now go and cut Yews in Edgeville. There are 2 of them and they're fairly close to the bank so it shouldn't take to long, no more than a few days. Unfortunately, I lied just then and you have 1 of the longest legs of your journey to be a Woodcutting Master to come. You have to cut an unrealistically large amout of logs. 23,600 yews until you reach level 90. Good luck. If you have perservered through that trial, I have another surpirse for you. You're not even halfway to level 99. = ) Once you reach level 90, you finally reach the pinaccle of willow cutting skill. So, back to Draynor you go. Cut willows until you reach an astonishing level 95. 50,000 willows to go. Luckily, you get about 750 of willows an hour, so you will only take a few days to complete this. Upon reaching level 95 you should say "w00t!!1!1!!one! I'm level 95 wc!!" and be proud of yourself. Now you have reached the pinaccle of your yew cutting ability. So back to Edgeville we go. You only have 17,000 yews to go so get chopping. What's that? You only got to level 98? Well, level 98 is a time to be proud, for now you can cut magic trees at a somewhat productive rate. If you can find an empty-ish world, there is a place a bit south of Seer's Village, outside of a Tower. World 2 works a treat for cutting here, as almost everyone on it is merchanting and not cutting. A funny thing, the exp difference between levels 98 and 99 is the same as the exp difference between levels 1 and 75. There's only 4.9 thousand Magic logs in between you and being a Woodcutting Master. CONGRATULATIONS! You are now a Woodcutting Master! You have joined the ranks of 18,240 other Woodcutting Masters. _ _ _ _ _ ********************************* _ _ _ _ _ __-Locations-__ [KEY= +Members only] Note, these are only suggested locations, based on distance to bank, and tree count in area. Each piece provides a small boost to your woodcutting experience and the complete set gives a final, but small boost. If you have them use them, but otherwise they are unnecessary. They are untradeable. If you see a tree that has a little demon face and is waving his branches STOP! This is an ent. It was designed by JaGeX to catch out autoers. If you attempt to cut this tree your axe WILL break, sometimes just not straight away, but within 5 seconds or so it will break. If this happens to you because you weren't paying attention (which is very easy while you're Woodcutting), you need to go to Bob in Lumbridge, he is located outside the castle heading towards the swamp, opposite the Graveyard. You need to pay Bob a small fee for him to get the materials needed to fix your axe (consult 3rd table above for prices). _ _ _ _ _ ********************************* _ _ _ _ _ __-Related Skills-__ While Woodcutting is a reward in itself, you can use it to help with various other skills. Crafting- If you were to do Barbarian training, you will discover that you can make ships similar to what the Vikings used (making a barge and sending a someone who's passed on into the lake then lighting it on fire). Gives Woodcutting and Crafting to build, Firemaking to light. Firemaking- This goes hand in hand with Woodcutting, you need the logs to light fires to raise this skill. Fletching- Making bows out of logs. This skill is the main reason why Yews sell for what they do. Prayer- After finishing the quest Shades of Morton, you can make pyre logs and burn them to gain Prayer exp. Construction- Convert logs into planks which are used tp build various items in your bank. _ _ _ _ _ ********************************* _ _ _ _ _ __-Extras-__ If you were to get a Lumberjack outfit from the minigames Temple Trekking or Burgh de Rott Ramble then you should wear it to get a few extra exp while cutting. If you were to come across an Ent (possessed tree) stop cutting it or your axe will break and you will have to get it repaired. If you were to come across a green Tree Nymph you can either fight it for a woodcutting related reward(ranging from any type of axe to logs to even some Farming items) or run away. If you fight it, it uses melee based attacks and is a fair bit higher than you're combat level. If you were to come across a bird's nest that fell out of a tree (members only) you can check it to see what reward you get. Rewards include gems, jewellery (usually rings), various seeds, and other stuff. You can increase your chances of a bird's nest by wearing a rabbit foot necklace acquired from Hunting. There are various other random events but those are just Woodcutting exclusive events. The Woodcutting Skillcape is purchased from the Woodcutting Tutor in Lumbridge for 99k. It comes with a cape and hood. _ _ _ _ _ ********************************* _ _ _ _ _ __-Credits-__ Thanks to all who helped me on the way to 99 woodcutting and those who helped with finding the experience and such necessary to making this guide. Thanks especially to 1silverblood who gave me a free dragon axe when they costed a Hell lot. Thanks again for woodcutting with me until you gave up woodcutting because you were bored. Those fifty levels just flew by, didn't they? Thanks to all the Genies on the way who helped me out with just that little bit from their exp lamp. A special thanks to Supercheats for letting me host this guide on there website. Finally, thanks to JaGeX for making the most ber game that ever did exist. _ _ _ _ _ ********************************* _ _ _ _ _ __-Versions-__ Version 0.90 - Guide is started.
