     [2] Walkthrough ............................................ [wlkthr]
This game comes in two discs. Install them both and then click on the new
desktop icon. When you start a new file you can take a tutorial (reccommeded
if this is your first Nancy Drew game), or choose the difficulty mode for
the game, Junior or Senior Detective. This guide is for use with the
Junior Detective mode, but can be used with either, save for a few puzzles.
Also, this guide has minimized spoilers. Does that mean you might see a
couple of things about the plot you didn't want to see yet? Absolutely. ;D

      [2.1] The Beginning of the...End? ......................... [ohnoes]
After to opening scene, talk to Charleena Purcell completely. Then the
Hardy Boys interrupt you. (rude xP) Talk to them fully. After that, go
past the Hardy Boys and pick up the phone and talk to the engineer,
completely. Afterwards, look at the stove and the steam valve in the
kitchen. These become important later. Back in the Hardy Boys's room,
open up the trunk to examine a flyer. Then check the eagle painting on
the wall and the tiny shoes on the chair. Now go to Charleena again,
completely again. Head left from Charleena to the next train car. Examine
the goat above and the puzzle to your left. You have to recreate the
picture above. Not too hard. Read the note when you finish.

Go to the other end of the car. Read the poem and examine the grate, which
needs a code. Now go to the next car and enter the room. Talk to John
Grey fully. Take the [7 SLUG] from the couch and read the book while
you're there. Turn around and start up the game. Instead of worrying
about accuracy, just clickclickclick on the button as fast as possible.
For winning you get [SHEET MUSIC]. Go to the piano and put down the
music. Attempt to play it. Now you can look at a piece of paper on the
ground, look inside a box, and look in the desk drawer for the two things
in there. Note the piano keys, as you'll be coming back for that later
if you don't play piano. Look at the grate and the big sampler on the
wall. Now go to the next train car.

Bess and George call. Talk to them completely. Go into the room and
talk to Tino Balducci fully. You get a [3 SLUG]. Now, examine the
Periodic Table of the Elements, the locked cigar box under it, a
book on gemstones, Jake Hurley's "stamp," the gemstone under the
globe, and a note by the couch. Now examine the grate for a puzzle.
This is actually really fun to tinker with and it doesn't NEED a
spoiler, it's fun. ~_^ Exit the room and go to the other end of the
car. Examine the door and the machine. Another puzzle? Put the 7 slug
on the right scale and the 3 slug on the left scale to open the door.
Go inside.

This room looks complicated, and it is. Don't get lost. Examine the
drawers to the right. Look through all four. You get an [8 SLUG].
Go to Tino's room and examine the cigar case. Input the colors
orange, blue, green, red, purple, and yellow. Read the letter and
get some [DANCE INSTRUCTIONS] as well as the [COLOR LOCK]. Go back
to the complicated room and go to the door at the far end. Look at
the square to the left of it for ANOTHER puzzle. (puzzle-heavy game,
eh?) It's easy as well, though. Just click the buttons in order. You
start over if you mess up. Keep track of the buttons you press to make
it easier. The door opens. Enter the room.

[2.2] Plot Twists, lol .................................... [xDxDxD]
This is so funny! Talk to Lori completely to get a [LETTER TO RUTH]. Read
it. Look at the dance floor in this room and the dance shoes. Call Bess
and George. Talk to them fully. Take a picture of the shoes and email it
to Bess and George. Now put on the shoes and follow the dance instructions
to open a cabinet. Pick up a [GEMSTONE]. Look at the trunk in this room
and take the [WRENCH]. Go back to the machinery room and turn right. Enter
the code NVRZTBAA on the machine. Look at the newly-revealed map. Now call
Bess and George again. Talk to them completely. Now go back to Lori's
car.

Examine the doll cabinet. Put the dolls in this order Chantilly Hildegard,
Awful Ursula, Sickly Sara, Edna the Terrible, Teddy Eberhardt, Sadie
Crawford, Hagar Anderson, Thomasina O'Neill, Yawning Alice, Naughty Tina,
and Eliza Sandberger. If you ever forget which doll is which, go read the
things around the train pertaining to them and write down their features.
You get [1 SLUG] and [2 SLUG]. Go back to the machine in Tino's car. Put
the 8 slug and 3 slug on the right weight. Put the 7 slug on the left
weight. Now put 1 slug and 2 slug on the right weight. Move the 3 slug to
the left weight. Take off the 2 slug and put it in the middle. Now talk
to Tino fully. Take the [GEMSTONE] under the globe in his room. Now go
to John's car.

Talk to John completely. Use the wrench on John's grate. So if the
screws are numbered like this:
1 2 3 4
5 6 7 8
Screw them like this: 42315687. You get ANOTHER puzzle! T_T Move the red
pipes once and the blue pipes thrice. Go to the sleeping car and examine
the goat. Take the [GEMSTONE]. Now go to the main car and talk to
Charleena fully. Then, talk to the Hardy Boys completely. Go to the
kitchen and open the stove. Read the letter and talk to the Hardy Boys
fully again. Take the [GEMSTONE] from the chandelier above them. Go
back to Lori's car for a scene. Talk to the Hardy Boys fully. Go to
Tino's car and talk to him fully. Go behind him and take some [CARBIDE].
Coming back, notice the gemstone and ask Tino to look at the statue.
Now go to John's train car and talk to him completely. Now go to the
main cabin again.

Talk to the Hardy Boys fully. Now you get some free time. You can
talk to Charleena, Lori, and Tino several times to resolve their
conflicts, but that's all optional. Anyway, after messing around a
bit, talk to the Hardy Boys again.

[2.3] Copper Gorge, Colorado .............................. [culora]
Go to the store on the map (Buell's) and talk to the woman in the costume.
(DO I LOOK LIKE A BUELL TO YOU xDDD) When you talk to her fully, play the
two luck-based games in the corner to get a [COIN] and a [COIN]. (haha)
Put the coins in the taffy machine to get [TAFFY STICK]. Look at the
trunk and talk to the woman again completely. Go to the train and talk
to Charleena fully. Go to Tino's car and talk to him completely. Beat
him in Leaping Lizards, an easy game, for a [PEN]. Go back to Charleena
and talk to her fully to get an [AUTOGRAPH]. Now exit the train and go
to the cemetary in the top left corner of the map.

Knock on the door and you go to the crypt. Examine the grate and use
the taffy stick to get a [KEY], which you should use on the door. Head
inside. Take the [6 SLUG] to the left and continue on. Look at the
chart above the casket and put the color lock from the cigar box on the
casket. Put in the combination green, red, purple, yellow, orange, and
blue. You get another [GEMSTONE]. Examine the four pillars and head back
to Buell's.

The Hardy Boys show up. Talk to them completely. Then talk to Fatima
completely. Then put the color lock on the trunk and put in the
combination red, green, blue, orange, yellow, and purple. You get a
[10 SLUG] and a [LANTERN]. Go back to John's car on the train. Use the
sheet in the drawer to play the sheet music on the piano. It's a bit
hard, you may want to write down the instructions. When you do it
right, you get a [SPYGLASS]. Go to Tino's room and take the [GEMSTONE]
from the statue. Now go to the machine on Tino's car.

Put the 1 slug, 2 slug, 7 slug, and 8 slug on the right weight. Put the
6 slug and 10 slug on the left weight. Go to the Hardy Boys's room and
open up the eagle painting. Move the blue pipes twice and the red pipes
once. Then move the green ones into place. Go to Buell's again and talk
to Fatima fully. Go into the "EMPLOYEES ONLY" room and sort the taffy.
Pretty easy. Take some [WAX PAPER] when you're done. Talk to Fatima
again to get the [PICK AX]. Frank calls and you have to control him
as a cook.

Complete the orders and then head to Camille's crypt again. Use the
wax paper and your pencil to make rubbings of all four pillars. Go
to the sleeping car on the train. Enter the combination 7963 on the
grate to get another pipes puzzle. Move the red pipes thrice and
move the greens into place. Now go to the kitchen and turn on the
gas. Then go to the car with all the machinery. On one machine, you
need to spin the wheel and then insert the spyglass and lamp. Put
carbide in the lamp. Go to a machine left of this and put the pick
ax on it. Pull the pick ax and it breaks. Go to John's car.

Talk to him completely and then examine his box. The pictures are
in this order:
7 1 5
2 8 4
6 9 3
You get some [DUCT TAPE]. Put it on the pick ax back in the
machine room. Pull it again and then go to the last machine, to the
right of the lamp/spyglass one. Here's where you put the gemstones.
Here's where each one goes:
Starfish - Brown
Talon - Yellow
Fin - Purple
Beak - Orange
Tentacle - Purpleish/Blue
Hoof - Green
Pull the pick ax again.

      [2.4] Hidden Secrets ...................................... [seeecr]
This is the point of no return. If there are things you haven't done yet,
get them done. When you're ready, go talk to Lori. In the new area, head
forward and fiddle with the cannon until it explodes. Now your color lock
acts as a compass. Whatever color it shows, go the way those lizards are.
You eventually get to some planks. Take them down in this order: farthest
to the left, fourth from the left, third from the right, farthest to the
right, second from the left, second from the right. Go forward and
examine the skeleton. Read the note and the culprit will show up and
attempt to kill you. After the scene, quickly turn around and jump in
the mine cart. There's several forks in its path. At the forks go
right, right, right, left, and left. You win the game, congradulations!
