This FAQ/Walkthrough is created solely for GameFAQs FAQ Completion Project. Okay, I recall that I got this game somehow in the past and I was very very far from completing this old game. I see that this game was not made by a company), but it was made by two people only (The Rozner Brothers). We can see this clearly at the ending screen and by looking at the quality of this game (it does not even has a background music). Surprisingly, Gamefaqs added this game into the database. Please do not misunderstand me. I admit that recognizing whether a PC game is commercial or not is not an easy task and some special cases are needed so that we do not have a monotonic life, right? This FAQ/Walkthrough contains the basic story and all technical informations inside this game to save your frustration if you want to master this old game. If this means spoiler to you, then don't read this document. Lastly, some legal notice: This document is protected by copyright law and international copyright treaties. It is very good and reasonable, I admit that, but the support to execute it is at the low side. Once all your lifes have gone, you can continue your adventure unlimited times. 2. Your E-tanks are also gone once all your lifes are gone. 3. The same with the other Megaman games, you may get random prizes after defeating an enemy: A small/big weapon or life pellet or an extra life. 4. You can't enter a defeated stage. 5. Cheating devices are recommended! Some cheating devices may cause hardware damages. This document does not support any warranty if your hardware is damaged, even implied warranties of merchantibility and fitness for a particular purpose. O____O My personal advice: I see this game has speed issue. It's too fast. Go get some tools to slow down the game. Playing it with a very old CPU (the early 486) MAY work too, but this has not been tested by me because of the lack of hardware support. The normal speed is ONLY ~20% from the original speed. 2. WARNING: This game does not have any background music and all the stages are mazes. A guide is recommended to save you from headache! 3. Get some joystick or gamepad that works. 4. Use your E-tanks for something else, but the final boss. 0o0o0o0o0o0o0o0o0o0o0o0o0o0o0o0o0o0o0o0o0o0o0o0o0o0o0o0o0o0o0o0o0o0o0o0o0o0o0o0 D. Execute the exe file, and you'll see some options. Graphic Cards: CGA/EGA/TANDY. Choose EGA since this game has no VGA mode. Choosing the other options will reduce graphics quality a lot because the colors are only four: White, Black, Green and Pink. Animation: ON/OFF This does not do anything. Masking: ON/OFF This does not do anything. Sound: ON/OFF This will turn the internal PC Speaker on or off. Joystick: ON/OFF If you have attached a compatible joystick or gamepad to your PC, then choose ON to this option. Done with all that? Good, choose start game. Hit fire three times to go to stage selection screen. I don't see something matters if you choose any boss first, but this walkthrough will start from Oilman stage. Just hit left/right until the cursor is on oilman face. A note from me before following the walkthrough: 1. I name the enemy by myself because there is no official name for them. Please look at section E if you are confused. 2. No difficulty rating for this game. All the stages are about the same shape. Just some stages are mazier than the other. I change this term to [confusion potential]. 3. The screenshots are available at Gamefaqs image section: http://www.gamefaqs.com/computer/doswin/image/563048.html ------ OILMAN ------ Confusion potential: 1/10 Oilman stage is pretty straightforward... compared to the other stages. After the Laser Device and Gun Device, there are two ladders going up. The right ladder has a big life pellet. Go up the ladder until your position is next to the Laser Device, then stop. After the laser device shoot, go up to get the life pellet. Then, go up the left one to continue with the game. After the Gun Device and Cobra Ant, there are two ladders going up and down. Go down to meet Sniper Joe and get an Extra Life. Go up to continue with the game. Pretty soon after this, there is a red ladder, jump to grab the ladder and go up. You'll arrive at the top of an oil tower. Do not jump off way to the right if you do not want to stay in Oilman stage forever ^___^ Keep going and you will know what I mean. See screenshot #3 for an example of this behavior. Instead, jump left to grab another red ladder. Soon, you will get two options: Fall from the tower or go left inside the room and meet with a Laser Device. Do the former first and feel free to explore this area, there is a big life pellet guarded by a Red Mettaur. Once you have done with this, go back up and inside the room with the Laser Device. Inside the small room, go down the ladders first and get a big life pellet then go back up and continue with the game. Then, jump from one tower to another and go inside the room via the blue gap. Inside this room, there is another blue gap going outside. Avoid the drips and get the big life pellet. Next, just follow the stage all the way until the unusual bos door. BOSS: OILMAN One of the generic robot masters of Megaman 3. It jumps into your position a few times then shoots. Easy, no? -------- SHARKMAN -------- Confusion potential: 7/10 Compass: NW N NE \ | / W ----- E / | \ SW S SE Megaman fans should know Sharkman from Battle Network series. Does Capcom adopt it from this game? Anyway, you now arrive at a big sea. You can swim to the bottom of the sea, but there is always some current that pushes you upward. If you are hurt while you are swimming, you will be pushed back upward too. You can also walk on the sea platform. Swim inside the sea and you will reach a wrecked ship. Swim to the bottom of the ship, you will face some seaweeds shooting leafy boomerang along the way, there is a big life pellet inside. Once you quit the wrecked ship, you will arrive at a sea cave. The spikes here are not lethal, so don't worry. 1st intersection, go South West (SW). 2nd intersection, go South East (SE). 3rd intersection, go N for big life pellet, then go SE. 4th intersection, go NE. You'll arrive at a dark sea. There is a big life pellet in the bottom left corner guarded by a Fish Plant, and an E-tank at the right side. Go SE. 5th intersection, go N. 6th intersection, go NW for big life pellet, then go N into another blue sea. The bottom right side has a big life pellet guarded by a sea worm. Search for a gap around the left side for the boss door. BOSS: SHARKMAN A generic robot master part II. Four shots of oil stream is enough to get rid of it. ------- WAVEMAN ------- Confusion potential: 4/10 You will depart at a port where many ships anchor off. Firstly, go up the ladder above you. Follow the route until you arrive at a ship. Go up the ladder a few times passing the Sniper Joe and grab the big life pellet. Then, go down inside the ship to continue with the game. Navigate yourself outside the ship again. Go up the ladders a few times again passsing the Sniper Joe and get the extra life. Go back down and down the ladder to get inside the ship again. Go down the ladder, pass the red metal wall and go through the vertically moving platform for a risky E-tank. Unlike the other version of megamans, being squashed by the moving platform is not lethal. Get back way left and drop yourself down to continue with the game. A tip from me to do this sequence: Always hold right and jump a little higher than the red metal wall when getting off the moving platform. Once you're at a big room inside the ship, get pass the Gun Device and jump to the higher platforms for a big life pellet. The down-leftward side of this room also has a big life pellet (but it's a bit risky to get it). The rest of this stage is straight-forward. BOSS: WAVEMAN Another generic robot master. Use sharkman's weapon for an easy win. Very disappointing... -------- TORCHMAN -------- Confusion potential: 9/10 This stage is the maziest stage in this game. So, follow this walkthrough carefully. Go down the ladder below you, follow the path, drop down the tunnel, go to the left path and drop down the tunnel. Get yourself pass two Laser Devices and face two Gremlins on your way. Go down the ladder to get a big life pellet. Then, go back up and continue with the game. Climb the ladder you see since you can't manage yourself to reach the high platform to the right. Drop down the second ladder and you will land on a green platform. Now, carefully find black line at the waterfalls. You can land on them! Now, you can reach the high platform to the right. Inside is a big life pellet. Next, get back up to the long ladder and climb it up. Get across the green platforms and the waterfalls to get a big life pellet at the high platform. Then, drop down the tunnel you see and HOLD right, you will come to a new path. Time your jump well to pass the Gun Device and climb up the ladder. Take care of the Sniper Joe and drop down the tunnel. Hold right while you are falling and get the E-tank. Fall down and go right across the green platforms to reach a big life pellet as well as a die-hard mettaur. Go back and jump to the higher platforms until you reach the upper-right path. O.K. this may become a hard task. Remember that the Gun Device can shoot to 8 directions (See the compass above). Estimate the timing and the range of the bullets, and you will be fine. After dropping down the tunnel, you will face two options. Jump up the green platfroms and waterfalls if you are low on health, otherwise, climb down the ladder you see. Next, jump up the waterfalls and the green platforms and follow the path around to receive an extra life, then go back down and climb the ladder on the right. Select the upper path and climb the ladder. A boss door is in sight! Go to the left path if you need a big life pellet. BOSS: TORCHMAN Another generic robot master. Oaahemm.. Shoot Water Shooter when your position is near to him. This will end its life faster. ------ BITMAN ------ Confusion potential: 6/10 To the right side of yourself is a bottomless pit. Don't jump in. Go up the first ladder and take the upper-side path. Then, land on the yellow platform and exit the room. Kill some Flying Insect around and carefully go inside the left platform with a ladder on it. If you did this successfully, climb up the ladder and follow the path around busting some more Flying Insects on the way. There is an extra life you saw earlier in the end. Exit the room again but this time, drop down. You will get a big life pellet on the bottom side. Then, climb up the ladder and go inside the room. Basically, there is nothing inside this room. Thus, cross the yellow platform as well as the Gun Device and exit the room quickly. Outside, climb up the ladder, take care the soldiers and get the big life pellet. Next, take the ladder down and go inside another room. There are signs written "Open Hole", so do not fall yourself down. Advance yourself carefully until you reach a ladder going up. Go up. You cannot go through the blue pole on your left. The rest of the stage is linear with some need of careful jumping. You will see an E-tank which seems to be impossible to get on your way, but actually there is an invisible path inside the oil drums above the E-tank (see screenshot #5 for details). BOSS: BITMAN Bitman is different from the other generic robot masters. It shoots some electric then runs like a bull. Then, some little block fall from the ceiling. You can only damage it when it's running. A li'l harder, but Torch Arm will take care of this boss painlessly. -------- BLADEMAN -------- Confusion potential: 7/10 First waterway: 1st intersection: go left. 2nd intersection: go down. 3rd intersection: take bottom-right tunnel and take the big life pellet, then take the upper-left one. Take the visible E-tank on your way. Second waterway: There are 2 clear big life pellets guarded by various enemies. 1st and only intersection: go right first if you want a big life pellet, else take the upper left tunnel. Take the small floating platforms carefully, there is nothing inside the water. Follow the path all the way passing the floating platforms and a Laser Device, there are two ladders going down. Take the left one for an extra life. Then, take the right ladder to continue with the game. Next is a long linear path, until you come to a ladder and a Gun Device. Take the floating platforms to grab the E-tank, then fall yourself from the ladder. Take the floating platform to the right immadiately to have a big life pellet. You can see three separate ways to the left side. The upmost platform is the hardest to reach, yet the shortest to our destination. The other routes also connect to the same place. When you are on the place with two Piranha Plants, jump carefully on the floating platforms to the right and avoid the laser. The reward is a big life pellet. BOSS: BLADEMAN Another generic robot master. Bit weapon is the best for this boss. -------------- DR. WILEY FORT -------------- Confusing potential: 5/10 The green liquid inside the fort is deadly, although you are in invisible state after being damaged! Stand below the Laser Devices to avoid being hurt. Soon, you will challenge Bitman. Follow the linear path and you will challenge Sharkman. Reach the higher platform instead of ascending the ladder to get a big life pellet. The next boss is Waveman. After you come to an intersection, do not ascend the ladder, but jump into the Laser Device direction. Carefully jump over the green liquids and take the big life pellet. Drop down CAREFULLY from the platform left of the green liquid and HOLD right, and get the clear extra life in sight (see screenshot #6 for details). The next boss is Oilman. Use blademan weapon from near for a quick victory. Take the ladder above for an E-tank (with struggle), then drop yourself to the right side and go down the ladder. Jump carefully stepping the small platforms until the next boss door. The upward path leads to a big life pellet. Does not worth it IMO. The downward path is our destination. BOSS: MECHANILOID Its weakness is Bit Weapon. There are some power-ups on the above platforms. After getting rid of the Mechaniloid, there are some weapon power-ups beyond the boss door. Use them for Shark/Wave weapons. FINAL BOSS: DR. WILEY The most important thing is getting your spot correct and you must face to the right. (See screenshot #7 for the spot). After getting the spot, just fire away Waveman weapon for the first form and Sharkman weapon for the second form while avoiding same green lasers once in a while.
