Introduction
============

This is the first walkthrough/guide I've done. It is for MSGlobal. Most of the information is what just I heard. The guide contains help on all 4 of the classes, weapons info, monster stats, and other odd and in crap I can find to throw in here. THIS WALK THROUGH IS BEST VIEWED IN COURIER NEW SIZE 10 WITH 600x800 RESOLUTION.

Please tell me via email about any typos, spelling mistakes ect. and things I missed out.

*Main Game Screen*

LV. -
This is what your level is... duh.

HP [----/----]
This is how many hit points you have and how many you have left.

MP [----/----]
This is how much mana you have and how much you have left.

EXP. ---- [--.--%]
This is how many experience points you have gained so far and that percent you are till the next level.

The box above this is the message area and you can see what people are saying and even get in-game tips from Maple Story. You can also type in your own text and talk to people.

Red Dot
Tells you when one of your friends is online.

Blue Dot
Tells you when someone requests to by your friend, or trade with you.

3 Coloured Squares
Tells you when you have a new note.

Key Setting
Brings up the Key Settings screen when you can change what the keys on you keyboard do.

Quick Slot
Brings up the little Quick Slot screen that lets you assign skills or useable items to close keys for quick usage.

Cash Shop
Brings you to the Cash Shop where you can buy things with "Cash". You can't use Mesos here and you have to spend your own money on cash but this allows you to get things from your character that you can't get normally in-game. (Not done in Global yet)

Menu
Brings up a little screen where you can pick from the following:

-Change Channel
You can pick to go to a different channel.

-Game Option
You can change different things about the game like not gettinggits if I recall correctly, so it is also moot. It does cancel out the defence penalty of Rage, a Fighter's skill, but then again, it is very little extra damage. I used the following build just because Iron Body looks cool, whereas Endure and HP Recovery don't >_>. It also just gives a little variety. If you are wondering why I said to save your points, read the notes at the end of this section. Important! Always max Improving Max HP as soon as possible, as it increases how much HP you gain at every level-up. If you don't max this first, then you will lose a lot of potential HP at higher levels.

-System Option
Lets you change some setting about the game like lowering the quality of the background to make the game run better on less powerful computers.

-Quit Game
Take a guess...

Stats
=====

The following section is on how to allocate your stats. Remember to never put points into HP or MP, as the extra HP or MP will not make up for your lack of power due to lower stats. Whenever a stat reads "as low as possible," this means that a 4 would be perfect, but a 5 or 6 is nothing to kill yourself over if you are a decent level. Just don't add anymore.

*Warrior*

Strength: Everything not in other stats
Dexterity: Controversial, see below
Intelligence: As low as possible
Luck: As low as possible

For your Warrior's DEX, you can put however much you want. Some go for as little as 1 DEX per level; some go for as high as 2 DEX per level. Others go for something along the line of keeping DEX equal to your level plus 10. It takes about 40 DEX for the job advancement, or so I've heard. Put however much you want in, and remember that the less DEX you may have, the more damage you will inflict.

*Bowman*

Strength: Future Hunters 5 above your level Future Crossbowman Equal to your level
Dexterity: Everything else
Intelligence: As low as possible
Luck: As low as possible

NOTE: Some people choose to boost their strength high on Maple Island for easier levelling during early stages. Just keep it at that level, and your stats will even out later.

*Thieves*

Strength: Future Assassins and Luck Bandits As low as possible Future Strength Bandits 10 less than your level
Dexterity: Twice your level until level until level 40. Then, instead of adding 2 DEX a level, add 1 DEX per level
Intelligence: As low as possible
Luck: Everything else

NOTE: See a section below on the differences between Strength and Luck Bandits.

*Mages*

Strength: As low as possible
Dexterity: As low as possible
Intelligence: Everything Else
Luck: 3 more than your level

=================================
Strength Bandits and Luck Bandits
=================================

The main differences between the two types of bandits are the damage and looks. Strength bandits have much lower damage at higher levels because they have less luck. At low levels (up to 20 if I recall correctly), the daggers are faster than luck daggers, but later they have the same speed. There also is no level 40 luck dagger. Also, the level 50-luck dagger, the Shinkita, doesn't work with dagger booster, if I've heard correctly.

======
Skills
======

The next section is on skills. These builds are for the first job advancement only. I am not doing other builds at this time. Note that all of the following builds are just my recommendations, so change them however you wish. Also, I am assuming all of these are non-funded characters, so I will keep the cost of potions down.

*Warriors*

11- 3 into Improving HP Recovery (4 total)
12- 1 into Improving HP Recovery (5 total)
2 into Improving Max HP (2 total)
13- 3 into Improving Max HP (5 total)
14- 3 into Improving Max HP (8 total)

19- 3 into Slash Blast (3 total)
20- 3 into Slash Blast (6 total)
21- 3 into Slash Blast (9 total)
22- 1 into Slash Blast (10 total)
    Save 2 (2 in bank)
23- Save 3 points (5 in bank)
24- 8 points into Power Strike (18 total)
25- 2 into Power Strike (20 total-Maxed)

27- 7 into Slash Blast (17 total)
28- 3 into Slash Blast (20 total-Maxed)
29- 3 into Endure (3 total)
30- 3 into Iron Body (3 total)

There are many variations that you can use on this build. For instance, you can max Power Strike all at once before working on Slash Blast. I just think that levelling is easier with both skills at your disposal. You could also use Slash Blast before Power Strike. Keep in mind that you need one point of Power Strike to activate Slash Blast. The last 6 points are totally optional. In fact, all three non-maxed skills are essentially useless. There is no reason not to use potions at higher levels, so Recovery is out. There is also no reason to use Endure for the same reason. Iron Body blocks very little damage.

*Bowman*

10- 1 into Blessing of the Amazon (1 total)
11- 2 into Blessing of the Amazon (3 total)

2 into Double Shot (2 total)
22- 3 into Double Shot (5 total)
23- 3 into Double Shot (8 total)
24- 2 into Double Shot (10 total)
Save 1 point (1 in bank)
25- Save 3 points (4 in bank)
26- Save 3 points (7 in bank)
27- 10 into Double Shot (20 total-Maxed)
28- 3 into Focus (3 total)
29- 3 into Focus (6 total)
30- 3 into Focus (9 total)

There are also many ways to build a bowman. Bowman have 1 of 2 attacking skills to choose from, Arrow Blow or Double Shot. Double Shot is much stronger, but Arrow Blow has a better knockback chance. Most people agree that Double Shot is better. Go for Arrow Blow to be unique if you feel the need. It is always easiest to max Eye of the Amazon first, for the higher range. Then, you can either max Critical Shot or your attacking skill. Critical is easier for unfunded characters, because it is passive and cost no MP. Then, max your attacking skill. The final 9 points can be used in the other attacking skill, Blessing of the Amazon, or Focus. The other skill is useless; you cannot get enough power from it to be worthwhile. Blessing of the Amazon only adds accuracy, which bowmen have a ton of naturally. Focus adds both accuracy and avoidability, which is always nice. In the end though, the choice is yours! *cheesy pose* Also, if you are wondering why you needed to save points, refer to the note at the bottom of this section.

*Thieves*

The thieves' section will be split up into a Bandit and an Assassin section.

-Bandits-

10- 1 into Double Stab (1 total)
11- 3 into Double Stab (4 total)
12- 3 into Double Stab (7 total)
13- 3 into Double Stab (10 total)
14- Save 3 points (3 in bank)
15- Save 3 points (6 in bank)
16- 9 into Double Stab (19 total)
17- 1 into Double Stab (20 total-Maxed)
2 into Nimble Body (2 total)
18- 3 into Nimble Body (5 total)
19- 3 into Nimble Body (8 total)
20- 3 into Nimble Body (11 total)
21- 3 into Nimble Body (14 total)
22- 3 into Nimble Body (17 total)
23- 3 into Nimble Body (20 total-Maxed)
24- 3 into Disorder (3 total)
25- 3 into Dark Sight (3 total)
26- 3 into Dark Sight (6 total)
27- 3 into Dark Sight (9 total)
28- 1 into Dark Sight (10 total)
Save 2 points (2 in bank)
29- Save 3 points (5 into bank)
30- 8 into Dark Sight (18 total)

This build maxes Double Stab early for easier training. You can max Nimble Body first, but it is not recommended, as you will not have an attacking technique. The last 21 points are optional between Dark Sight and Disorder. Disorder is useless to me; the decreased damage and increased attack is not worth the extra attack in my opinion. The only use is to stop a monster from following you if you hit it, but level 3 Disorder can still accomplish this. Dark Sight is useful for going to El Nath at lower levels (<30), and in the recent Town Wars. You can choose to max Disorder regardless though. If you don't see the point of saving points, see the notes at the bottom of this section.

-Assassins-

10- 1 into Nimble Body (1 total)
11- 2 into Nimble Body (3 total)
1 into Keen Eyes (1 total)
12- 3 into Keen Eyes (4 total)
13- 3 into Keen Eyes (7 total)
14- 1 into Keen Eyes (8 total-Maxed)
2 into Lucky Seven (2 total)
15- 3 into Lucky Seven (5 total)
16- 3 into Lucky Seven (8 total)
17- 2 into Lucky Seven (10 total)
Save 1 point (1 in bank)
18- Save 3 points (4 in bank)
19- Save 3 points (7 in bank)
20- 10 into Lucky Seven (20 total-Maxed)
21- 3 into Nimble Body (6 total)
22- 3 into Nimble Body (9 total)
23- 3 into Nimble Body (12 total)
24- 3 into Nimble Body (15 total)
25- 3 into Nimble Body (18 total)
26- 2 into Nimble Body (20 total-Maxed)
    1 into Disorder (1 total)
27- 2 into Disorder (3 total)
1 into Dark Sight (1 total)
28- 3 into Dark Sight (4 total)
29- 3 into Dark Sight (7 total)
30- 3 into Dark Sight (10 total)

This build maxes Keen Eyes early for the range, but I would actually prefer to get Lucky Seven to about 4 first to train, although this will eat up your money. The Disorder/Dark Sight dilemma is nonexistent for Assassins, as Disorder will require you to get close to the monster, thus eliminating your advantage, range. So, Dark Sight is obviously the right choice. If you are wondering why I said to save points, then check out the notes at the base of the section.

*Magicians*

08- 1 into Energy Bolt (1 total)
09- 3 into Improving MP Recovery (3 total)
10- 2 into Improving MP Recovery (5 total)
1 into Improving Max MP (1 total)
11- 3 into Improving Max MP (4 total)
12- 3 into Improving Max MP (7 total)
13- 3 into Improving Max MP (10 total-Maxed)
14- 3 into Improving MP Recovery (8 total)
15- 3 into Improving MP Recovery (11 total)
16- 3 into Improving MP Recovery (14 total)
17- 2 into Improving MP Recovery (16 total-Maxed)

19- 3 into Magic Claw (7 total)
20- 3 into Magic Claw (10 total)
21- Save 3 points (3 in bank)
22- Save 3 points (6 in bank)
23- Save 3 points (9 in bank)
24- 10 into Magic Claw (20 total-Maxed)
2 into Magic Guard (2 total)
25- 3 into Magic Guard (5 total)
26- 3 into Magic Guard (8 total)
27- 2 into Magic Guard (10 total)
Save 1 point (1 in bank)
28- Save 3 points (4 in bank)
29- Save 3 points (7 in bank)
30- 10 into Magic Guard (20 total-Maxed)

The first Bolt goes into Energy Bolt for better levelling. It's not worth 30-40 MP for ~5 levels of 1 damage levelling. Magic Claw is much better than Energy Bolt because it goes through obstacles, has a higher base damage, and is quicker. Saving points is described in detail below. Important! Always max Improving Max MP as soon as possible, as it increases how much MP you gain at every level-up. If you don't max this first, then you will lose a lot of potential MP at higher levels.

*Saving Points*

The reason I tell you to save points at certain levels is that MP cost doubles after level 10 for most skills. Passive skills do not cost MP, therefore, saving points is not required. If you do not mind the extra MP cost, then go ahead and put the points in, or put them in earlier, like at 6 points or so. It is, once again, all up to you.

=============
Unique Builds
=============

Some people have created unique characters with different stats to be unique. Some are listed below.

Strength Mage: A Cleric that uses Maces to inflict damage while using Heal to well, heal. Increase Strength, Luck, and Intelligence.
Banditsin/Assdit: A Bandit that has an Assassin's first job build to level faster. Normal stat build.
Pro-Beginners: Stay as beginners for extra challenge. Warrior stat build, no skills.
HP Warriors: Warriors that increase HP as well as the usual stats to have massive amounts of HP.

======================
Which class is for me?
======================

The following section is a class-choosing guide.

NOTE: As my highest levelled character is only level 12, I suck. Thus, everything in this guide is based on things I have heard, not personal experience. Also, I know very little about third jobs, and pretty much all of the sites are down now, so I'll be winging it with what I know.

*Warriors*

Warriors are for newbs. Warriors suck. Warriors take no skill to play. Warriors are useless. All of those statements are false (I suck at jokes >_>). Warriors as a whole are slow to level. You have a large range of damage for the first job, and you must walk up to every enemy. Warrior's weapons are generally slower than everyone else's. You will be KSed. A lot. Suck it up. In order to reach the glorious third jobs, the warriors must be strong. You will be "the worst" now, but later, you will pwn. High damage will come easily. Your HP will be on the highest echelon. Your weapons will look awesome. Play this class if you like to take in damage, and bust it back out just as hard.

-Fighters-

Fighters are the hack-and-slashers. Everyone will grovel at your massive damage. You have the highest HP of the Warriors, and you'll need to put it to good use. Fighters use swords or axes. One or the other, but not both. Axes have a larger damage range, but they have the potential to do more than swords. Swords are consistent, but much more expensive. Compare 500k to 50k for a 60% scroll. Big difference. Both look rather cool. Fighters get a unique skill, Rage, which boosts your weapon attack by 10. In the third job, you will get a combo-attack, which will be your main attack, allowing you to chain many skills together. Then, you finish it off with either a single target or mass target skill, whose names escape me now. Basically, Fighters are OMG DMG WHORZ!!11!!!1. So, if you're into warriors and want huge damage, go Fighter.

-Pages-

Pages are the rarest class of Warriors. Why? In the second job, they are almost exactly like Fighters and nobody wants to pose >_>. They differ from Fighters in the aspect that they don't have Rage, the Fighter's claim-to-fame. It is replaced by Threaten, which has its pros and cons when compared to Rage.

-Pros
It has the potential to work better than Rage, assuming the Weapon Attack and Enemy Defence values have no multipliers, which they probably do. Threaten lowers the enemy's Defence by 20%, so if the enemy has massive Defence then Threaten for the win.

-Cons
You must recast it on every batch of enemy's. It looks stupid. It could do squat. So, Fighters are "better" in the second job. In the third job, Pages get Elemental Charges, which are awesome. You charge your weapon with either fire, ice, or lightning, which allows you to train on a wide variety of monsters. I don't know much about any other skills. Pages use blunt weapons and swords. Swords are expensive, blunt weapons aren't. See the fighter section for more.

On the whole, a page is the right class for you if you want to be unique and are patient enough to wait for third job to be awesome.

-Spearman-

Spearman is the envy of all non-warrior classes. Why? GMs have made their third job famous, and they are great in parties. Easy as that. Everyone says to go Spearman for mobs, but that doesn't come into play until third job. Until then, Clerics party up with Spearmen for Hyper Body, which increases your max HP and MP for a while. This affects everyone in the party, and is a great skill. Spearman also gets Iron Wall, a better version of Iron Body that affects the entire party. In the third job, Spear-using Spearman use Buster, which forces a stab animation. It hits 3 enemies 3 times for nice damage. Polearm-using Spearman opt for Thresher (I think that's the name), which is a buffed up version of Slash Blast, which hits 6 monsters with a slash animation. Hybrid Spearman gets the best of both worlds and gets both skills. Spearman also gets Dragon Blood, which is a better version of Rage. The main factor in choosing Spears or Polearms is that spears do more damage stabbing, and polearms do more slashing. Slashing occurs more, so many choose polearms. Both are fairly expensive. Spearman is great for parties in second job, and style and mobs in third.

-One-Handed or Two-Handed?-
With swords, axes, and blunt weapons, you can use either one-handed or two-handed weapons. One-handed weapons have more stable, but lower damage, while two-handed weapons are the opposite. One-handed weapons are generally cheaper, as they have lower demands. Also, you can only use shields with one-handed weapons. Shields take off very little damage though, and are fairly expensive. They look nice though. All in all, many choose two-handed for the higher damage, as the difference in range is hardly noticeable from one-handed to two.

*Bowman*

Why should you pick a Bowman? Well for one thing, Bowman has awesome armour (exception: level 20 male). For another, Bowman just has an air of uniqueness at lower levels. For some reason, newbs tend to shy away from the breathtaking splendour that is the Bowman. They are slow to level in the newb levels, and they tend to keep you from gaining money. So why are they good again? They deal out tons of damage and can take out mobs effectively in the second job. Also, they gain immense amounts of power in the third job. Screw Assassins; you are the true ranged class.

-Hunter-

Hunters do what all other classes do: hunt monsters. However, Hunters do it in style. They have sweet looking bows, and cool skills. Hunters differ from Crossbowmen because they get Arrow Bomb, a skill which hits a mob and stuns with a 60% success rate when maxed, giving you plenty of time to finish them off. They also share Power Knockback with the Crossbowers, increasing the rate of knockback while hitting several monsters. Hunters are fast. They dispatch enemies in the blink of an eye. I really have no clue about their third job, but I know that there is a passive skill to raise speed, Fire Shot, and Strafe. These skills help speed up training, and give you an element to work with. Hunters have some of the highest damage in the game, and are very versatile. Choose one if you want to have great range, speed, and sexiness.

-Crossbowman-

Crossbowmen: the rarest of the rare, steadily growing. These wonders of the Maple World have been gaining in popularity, due to an unnamed someone >_>. Anyways, the Crossbowmen are a great class, but have long been overshadowed by Hunters, their faster companions. Crossbows have a much slower firing speed than bows, but are more powerful. The difference is negilable; they are close enough at higher levels. Plus, with booster, Crossbows are more than fast enough. Instead of the stunning Arrow Bomb, Crossbowmen get the unique skill Iron Arrow, which hits up to 6 enemies in a row. It also does 180% normal damage, which helps make up for the lack of stun. In the third job, Crossbowmen get most of the same skills as Hunters. But instead of Fire Shot, they get Ice Shot, to enable training in a variety of areas. Crossbowmen are for the few, the proud, the smart. Go Crossbowman for nice skills, range, and power.

-Bow or Crossbow?-
As stated above, Bows are fast, Crossbows are powerful. They are pretty much equal, but in my opinion, Bows look so much cooler. But, that said, the best way to find out is to test both of them out at around level 30. Then, you can decide what you are more comfortable with.

*Thieves*

The best "We'll dance for mesos" class due to three things: Level 25 and 35 clothes, they earn little to no money, and "OMG NINJARS THIEF NINJA NARUTO!!!!!!!!!" It seems as if every newb to the game goes for either a thief or a mage. Thieves are great if funded; assassins gain levels the fastest, but burn up MP out the wazoo. They have very diverse skills, and solo very well at higher levels. They are also tons of fun to play. They are crappy to level on Maple Island and they suck if you have no money. Bandits run into the same dilemmas, as well as having to deal with KSers. But once you get past the beginning levels, Thieves are loads of fun and are definitely worth the original investment.

-Assassins-

One of the most common classes in the game, Assassins definitely deserves the attention they get. They do nice stable damage with Lucky 7, and Crit Throw just increases their power that much more. Drain keeps down potion costs, and Haste speeds up training. In the third job, Assassins are the masters of diversity. Meso Up is a great party skill, and Alchemist helps keep down potion costs also. Flash Jump adds to mobility, Shadow Partner adds more power, and Avenger kills mobs. All of this power comes at a price, almost 4 million to scroll a claw, and you need at least 2 mil for a fair amount of stars in Bera. Plus, almost half of the population is a Thief, and the majority of those are Assassins. Not to mention that Lucky 7 will be your attack forever. Literally. Play an Assassin if you have tons of cash and don't mind spending it. They have lots of fun, and are well worth the cost.

-Bandits-

Bandits are also one of the most classes that people would change to if they could. They look cool and have nice skills, but still drink potions like a drunk. Savage Blow is their main attack skill and hits 6 times for nice damage. You may wonder why you shouldn't just be a warrior then. Haste speeds up training, helps allies, and increases mobility. Also, third job thieves get Assaulter, an attack skill that also speeds up your movement (indirectly albeit). Meso Explosion can be used well in conjunction with Pickpocket, and Thieves is a great spammable mob skill. Bandits are a well balanced class, only lacking in one thing: cost. But with some funds, a Bandit can be a strong, fun character to play.

*Mages*

The most popular class. Hands-down. Why? Maybe some people are attracted to their early power. They dominate with the Magic Claw from 20-30, which I can respect after 20 crap levels. Be warned though, Mages have extreme prejudice against them, expect "OMG KS!" "Dude, I'm on the other half of the map" "STPD MAGE!" Although, most Mages are evil, don't be stupid. Not all Mages lack common sense. Just keep it cool with a Mage, respect others, and you will have a great time with them, as the are fun, and quick to level.

-Fire/Poison Mages-

These mages are the strongest mages of the three. Fire Arrow has a max base damage of 120 against non-weak monsters. They are powerhouses, who take out all who object with a flaming arrow of death. They also have Poison Brace, which nobody seems to use >_>. With Teleport for mobility, and Meditation for attack, Fire Wizards are great characters in the second job. There power increases further in the third job, with Fire/Poison Composition dealing a great amount of damage, with a 70% poison chance. Also, Magic Amp is great, boosting your power to an even higher level. Fire Explosion handles mobs well. Ossyria has mucho fire weak monsters, and is awesome for training. All in all, Fire Mages are the powerhouses of the group.

-Ice/Lightning Mages-

Ice and Lightning mages are very diverse. They can take out mobs with Lightning Bolt, and freeze enemies with Cold Beam. As with all of the mages, they have Meditation and Teleport. There are not very many ice weak monsters, and extremely little lightning weak monsters. In the third job, they also get Magic Amp. Their Composition freezes 100%, great for stopping enemies in their tracks. Ice Strike becomes a mob skill, and Thunder Spear is a great show off skill. Ice Mages are great if you want to be unique and freeze stuff >_>.

-Clerics-

It's funny how the majority of the Mages are Clerics, who are holy and junk, then they cuss you out for no reason. Clerics have Heal. Yay. They heal stuff. And kill things using Heal. They also have Bless, a great party skill, and erm... heal. I seem really biased, but just from looking at the skills, it seems like they have some real diversity. Clerics are great for parties though, and are quick and easy to level. Plus, they can get some good drops, and they spend little on potions once MP Eater is maxed. Clerics are very self-sufficient, and can handle any situation. Third job brings some interesting skills, such as the ability to summon a dragon, or turn enemies into snails. But, these skills are not very efficient for what they cost and how much damage they actually putout. Shining Ray is a great group damage skill, and is very worthwhile. In the end, some people may get bored with a Cleric, but they offer the best in partying, support, and money-making.
