Varric is a lock to start the quest so fill around him as you need. A man named Edge wants to meet in Hightown but it turns out to be an ambush. Defeat the Antivan Crows with the help of Tallis then follow Tallis to the Chateau Haine, just don't forget to loot [AN UNSIGNED NOTE] from one of the Antivan Crows. ________________________//\\________________________ ________________________| Walkthrough |________________________ \\_________________________// [0200] The Chateau Haine The backstory for why Hawke is invited is based on when you accept the quest: - Act 1: The invitation is sent because of the Amells nobility. - Act 2: Duke Prosper purchased a ring found from the Deep Roads' Expedition - Act 3: Duke Prosper sat near Hawke during the celebration of the Champion. After speaking to Duke Prosper you'll learn that you must partake in the Wyvern hunt. Talk to Gabriel to start a quest and head to the Hunting Grounds to start another: - The Master's Salve - Baiting a Wyvern Hunting a Wyvern Head out to the Hunting Grounds after you've purchased/sold anything you need to. Head out to the southeast path until you notice a nook to the north. Step up here to find [ANDRASTE'S MANTLE] but also complete a task, "Learned wyvern mating call." Further east and then south you'll find the [DRAKEVEIN] up the hill where the men run. If you follow the men you'll find a Ghast Brute and be attacked by several Ghastlings. Defeat them and continue south to the Lost Scholar who will give you his notes and start the quest: - The Cult of the Sky Return to the entrance and take the western path north until you encounter some Dragonlings. Defeat them and two Dragons will appear to defend them. They are spread apart so it's not the easiest thing to take them out but it's necessary. Loot the Dragonling to complete an objective: "Found dragonling corpse." South from here you'll find the Ancient Altar that the Lost Scholar mentioned. Loot the [TREASURE OF THE SKY] to find the [BOOK OF THE LADY], a [SACRIFICIAL DAGGER], and [GIRDLE OF THE SKIES]. If you leave the Book of the Lady then the quest ends, but if you take it the Sky Horror is summoned. The Sky Horror This foe casts some heavy area of effect attacks that need to be avoided so keep your party at range or they will die fast. Sky Priests and Assassin will appear once you drain the Sky Horror's health to about 75% and the Sky Horror will warp away temporarily. It will do this every 25% of it's life until you defeat it so keep your Warrior on task and micro-manage your team so that they avoid the blasts. The Sky Horror doesn't drop anything of value but it's good experience and the lesser items sell for gold. More Bait Further south you'll find some blood, completing the objective: "Found blood." Talk to the Hunter further south to start another quest: - The Lost Hounds Exit at the east to the next portion of the Hunting Grounds. Loot the final ingredient for the Master's Salve, the [WINTERBERRY] but it's not enough for a person -- the quest is completed. Move ahead to find Sylvain who takes you to the Poisoned Dog. Here you can do nothing, use the salve, or kill the dog. The best option is obviously to use the salve though. Head back into the clearing and inspect the Ghast Hole to bring out the lot of them. Follow the hounds out and you'll receive a reward, [1 GOLD] and [THE HOUNDMASTER'S SHORTBOW] if you saved them. If you killed them and confess you'll have to fight the Hunter. Head south from here to find some remains of a Halla, this completes the objective: "Found remains." If you check the Ghast Hole you'll spawn a unique Ghast named Velghastrial and he can be a menace with his spells. Take out the others first and keep your distance before tackling this one. With that taken care of head back north past the pond to the Wyvern Dung, this completes the objective: "Learned nug call." Continue north to find the bait location. The Wyvern You can choose to bait one safely, but if you use everything at once you'll lure the Alpha Wyvern which provides a better reward and an achievement. The Alpha Wyvern will use a tail swipe and a charge on a player that doesn't have it's attention. You need to sidestep this or stun the Alpha Wyvern before it charges since this attack will likely kill whoever it strikes. Afterwards, Baron Arlange comes in throwing a hissy-fit because he was supposed to win the hunt by killing the Wyvern. Defeat him and his cronies then Duke Prosper will appear and give you a decision. If you choose to kill Baron Arlange then you can loot his corpse for [BARON ARLANGE'S SWORD] and [BARON ARLANGE'S SHIELD]. If you choose any other option then the Baron is let go and can possibly return later. Chateau Courtyard After a short conversation about not being able to sneak in right now, Hawke and Tallis attend the party as the other characters do whatever you tell them to. You'll receive one of the following items from Duke Prosper: - [WYVERN HUNTER'S BELT] if you've slain a common Wyvern. - [MASTER WYVERN HUNTER'S BELT] if you've slain the Alpha Wyvern. After the celebration you regain control. Observe the Fountain to start the quest: - Wishing Well At the south end near Leopold you can find some [CAPRICE] on the barrel. There are two more [CAPRICE] in the east square as well. Speak with the guard at the west end near the gate, Tallis will go with him and find out he gave his key to a servant. There is another guard in the square that will plainly say he doesn't have a key to get inside either. The other guests have some interesting conversation, don't miss out on talking to Leliana! Check the Hunting Goods up the steps and you can purchase a [CAPRICE] for... no cost at all! The other guard can't give you a key either so you'll have to find the Elf Servant near the fountain. Toss the four Caprice into the fountain and talk to the Elf Servant. Tallis finds out that the Servant gave the key to Lord Cyrill. The wild goose chase continues! Head back towards the fountain and speak with Lord Cyrill to receive the fifth and final [CAPRICE] then Tallis will discover that Lord Cyrill is attracted to Hawke. Toss the final Caprice into the fountain to complete the quest and receive an [ATTRIBUTE POINT]. Head inside and talk to Lord Cyrill, either option nets you the key. Open the door to go inside the Chateau then you'll be faced with a choice: - "I agree." - Hawke and Tallis will be stealthy. - "I prefer to be more direct." - Hawke and Tallis will fight the guards. Chateau Haine Interior Choosing the stealthy route requires some finesse, otherwise you'll have to fight at each encounter. Depending on which characters you brought with you, you'll be able to start unique quests with them. Distract the guard and grab the codex [THE WINE OF CHATEAU HAINE] and [HARD IN HIGHTOWN II] if you have Varric with you. Move up and hide in the shadows then take the path to the north room to start: - Hard to Stomach Pick up [A SECRET FORMULA] if you brought Sebastian then check the Chef's Log. Add 4 Lutefisks, 3 Slices of Cheese, and 5 Navets to the mixture and put this in Leopold's Food to complete the quest. Opposite the kitchen is a room behind the door with a [CHEST] and [A MAP OF SORTS] if you brought Isabela and/or [A SYMBOLON] if you brought Bethany. Incapacitate the Orlesian Guard Captain and search him for the [KEY]. Pick up [HARD IN HIGHTOWN II] here, the second chapter if you brought Varric, then head upstairs. Grab [THE ODD ENSIGN] here if you have Carver then open the door to reach the outside. The Courtyard Climb up the staircase and distract the guard so you can reach the [CHEST] and snag [SKEPTICISM]. Move to the northeast corner and distract the further guard then incapacitate the one that is close to you. Move down the steps and through the door. Cross the balcony to a room where you'll find [UNCERTAINTY] and [A ROMANTIC'S GIFT] if you have Aveline with you. Move south and follow a guard around the square until you reach the door that leads to the center. Empty the [CHESTS] to find [ANXIETY] and the [BALCONY KEY]. At the south end is a [CHEST] but you need to move west using the key. Check out the [BUST OF THE OUTLAW BEARDED BEAST] and follow the path around to a room. Read the codex [A LIBRARY OF DISTINCTION] from the bookcases and grab [A WARRIOR'S LEGACY] from the table if you brought Fenris. Move to the next room where you'll find three portraits, [LADY AMANDINE DU VAL], [PORTRAIT OF THE DOWAGER], and [PRIDE AND RIDER]. Head outside into the next courtyard area. Outside Again Distract the initial guard and hug the northern railing to bypass the next two. If you are clever you can distract them to reach the [CHEST] that's east of the door. Move to the west side and distract the guard here so you can get to the [CHEST] with [UNCERTAINTY] inside then incapacitate the last Guard for the [KEY]. Distract the middle guards again and enter the middle room. Here you'll be met with a puzzle as gates bar your path forward. Have Hawke and Tallis stand on the switches then send one up each staircase. Step on the switches here then topple the statues. Move the person from the left side back down to the center then use the person on the right side to open the way forward on the right side. Loot the [CHEST] then have one person on the first switch on the left side steps and then the other on the switch adjacent to it on the ground floor. Repeat this for the next switch then loot the [CHEST] here. You may also find a companion quest item atop this chest. Stand on the switches infront of the two chests to reach the Vault Door. The Dungeons You get the opportunity to question Tallis before your rejoin the group. Free the prisoners and move east. Clear out the Orlesians and snag [HARD IN HIGHTOWN II] if you have Varric, this should be the last one. Ahead you'll be able to start a quest if you have Isabela: - Pirates and their Curses Down the steps is an ambush, lure the enemies into the narrow chamber to get an easy bottleneck going. Head up into the Vault from here now where you get ambushed by a Harlequinn and some guards. This is the audience room, unless you entered from the other staircase in which case you're at the northern room. Move up the next room, the Central Room, where a puzzle awaits but you can't work on it yet. Don't pass up the [TIME-WORN BOOK] if you have Aveline, it starts the quest: - The Du Lac Sign The Eastern Room Puzzle --- --- --- --- --- Start with the Eastern Room's puzzle. There are 25 tiles | A | B | C | D | E | and using one will flip it and any adjacent tiles. The |---|---|---|---|---| lever can reset the puzzle. | F | G | H | I | J | |---|---|---|---|---| To solve the puzzle flip the tiles in the following | K | L | M | N | O | order: A, B, F, G, I, J, M, N, O, Q, R, S, V, W, Y |---|---|---|---|---| | P | Q | R | S | T | Solving the puzzle reveals a portait that will be used |---|---|---|---|---| in the main puzzle. Head over to the Northern Room now. | U | V | W | X | Y | --- --- --- --- --- The Northern Room Puzzle This room is a door opening puzzle, follow these steps to complete it. 1. Collect Yellow Apparatus 2. Enter the Yellow Door 3. Place the Yellow Apparatus in Mixer 4. Collect White Apparatus 5. Open both White Doors 6. Collect Black Apparatus 7. Open Black Door 8. Collect Blue Apparatus 9. Open Blue Door 10. Kill Rune Golem 11. Place Blue Apparatus in Mixer 12. Collect Green Apparatus 13. Open Green Door and loot the [CHESTS] The Western Room Puzzle This room is another door opening puzzle, follow these steps to complete it. 1. Collect Black Apparatus 2. Open both Black Doors 3. Collect White Apparatus 4. Open White Door 5. Collect Blue Apparatus 6. Place Blue Apparatus in Mixer 7. Open Blue Door 8. Kill Rune Golem 9. Collect Red Apparatus 10. Place Red Apparatus in Mixer 11. Collect Purple Apparatus 12. Open Purple Door and loot the [CHESTS]. The Central Room Puzzle To solve this puzzle you must complete the other three first. You need to flip the tiles to match the painting. If the person is wearing a mask in the painting then the tile must be flipped face-up, if not wearing a mask then the tile is face-down. To solve the puzzles arrange the tiles in the following fashion, from a perspective of Hawke facing the center: North West East U D U D U D U D U D U D D D D U U U D U D U U U D U U U U U U D U D U D U D U D U D D D D Solving the puzzles grants Treasure Piles behind the rings of fire. They correspond to Hawke's class: The First Puzzle - 2g 25s - [ORLESIAN LANCER BOOTS] if Hawke is a Warrior - [BOOTS OF THE MESSENGER] if Hawke is a Rogue - [BOOTS OF ENCHANTER ILLANA] if Hawke is a Mage The Second Puzzle - 3g 46s - [ORLESIAN LANCER GLOVES] if Hawke is a Warrior - [GLOVES OF THE MESSENGER] if Hawke is a Rogue - [GLOVES OF ENCHANT ILLANA] if Hawke is a Mage The Third Puzzle - 6g 50s - [ORLESIAN LANCER AMOR] and [ORLESIAN LANCER HELM] if Hawke is a Warrior - [COAT OF THE MESSENGER] and [HELM OF THE MESSENGER] if Hawke is a Rogue - [ROBES OF ENCHANTER ILLANA] and [HEADDRESS OF ENCHANTER ILLANA] if Hawke is a Mage The Retreat After you've acquired the loot head through the crack in the wall from the dungeons. Pick a path, north or south doesn't matter as the paths converge and you have to fight Ghasts either way. Cross the bridge and Tallis gets separated as Cahir and his henchman arrive to challenge Hawke. Lower Cahir's health quickly and Tallis will return when he reaches 50% health. A Mage is summoned at this point but at least Tallis is back. Finish the fight and loot Cahir for the [PORTCULLIS KEY] and [DRAGON'S BREATH] while the Mage had [STING]. Follow the path around, taking the east side for the cache in Varric's quest; the west side has a [CHEST] though. Ahead you'll meet more Ghasts led by a Velghast. Loot the [GNAWED SHINY RING] from the Velghast and either join Tallis or leave her. Leave Tallis Hawke will have to face off against several Hunters, Ghasts, some Wyvern, and guards along the way to Duke Prosper. With Tallis Baron Arlange will ambush the group shortly if you didn't defeat him earlier, his loot is static. Continue north and defeat the Ghasts and the Velghastrial leader. If you run into the northern cubby you'll encounter a Wyvern then some Ghasts once you've killed it. This is also the cache for "A Map of Sorts" if you brough Isabela. Progress east and you'll encounter the Tal-Vashoth. This starts a long chain of battles and you can't defeat the Leader until you reach the summit as he continually runs off. After Tallis gets the information you need to backtrack down the mountainside. Duke Prosper Tallis joins the party for this fight regardless of your choice. The battle starts with Duke Prosper and the Guards attacking. Clear out the Guards and watch for Leopold's spit from above. Duke Prosper will use Archer's Lance and can summon Mabari Warhounds during this phase, just deal with them and avoid the areas that are glowing on the ground. At about 25% health, Duke Prosper stuns the group and Leopold leaps down as he recovers. If you completed "Hard to Stomach" then Leopold should be stunned for about 10 seconds as he enters the fray. Watch for the jump attack and roar that can stun nearby targets. When Prosper tags a player with his green substance Leopold will attack that player relentlessly and often charge. At 50% health Duke Prosper will mount Leopold and they join forces. The jump attack and marked attack carry over but now there is a scattershot that leaves flaming arrows on the ground. Duke Prosper will leap up onto the ruins then detonate the fire arrows so be sure to avoid them. The best way to simplify this battle is to dodge Leopold at the cliff's edge. Leopold and Prosper will be hanging on for a while allowing you to get in quite a bit of damage. You receive the [HEART OF THE MANY] as the DLC comes to an end. ________________________//\\________________________ ________________________| Outro |________________________ \\_________________________// [0300] Legal This document is Copyright 2014 Greg Boccia (noz3r0) and is the intellectual property of the author.
