| Welcome! How do you use this FAQ | IDXA000 |
+---------------------------------------------------------------------------+
Welcome to this FAQ of BOF4. You may know that I wrote the Boss FAQ and the
Combo FAQ of this game. Those are FAQs on their own. This FAQ has been
completely written from scratch, and therefore I will not refer to those.

First of all. Using a Walktrough is no fun. It spoils the game big way.
Therefore I advice only to use this FAQ when you are seriously stuck in a game
with no means of finding a way out.
Every city and every dungeon has a IDX code. You see those codes in the index
A quick way to look things up is to simply use the search feature Ctrl-F in
Windows and Linux and Apple-F on Macintosh enter the code you should find it.

Next thing to note is that dungeon and cities are devided in rooms. These
rooms are (alas) not numbered like in Wild Arms Alter Code F or Wild Arms 4,
but knowing this will certainly help you out. When I say "Exit" I mean that
you leave the room your in. I often use a direction which way to go.
I'll start every new room with a "-". If a room has a lot of actions I'll
sum those actions up by using "=".

The camera view is always in a 45 degree perspective. This can make things
confusing in the North-South thing. But you got a compass. The red (or
orange if you like) side of its arrow faces north, and for the good of this
FAQ I'll mean that direction when I say "North".

At each location or boss FAQ you see my party members with a number. That
number is the level I had when I played this game in order to write this FAQ.
It's by no way a recommendation (unless stated otherwise). Beginners are
recommended to have their levels higher than mine. Experienced RPG players
should ignore those levels were placed here at all.

There are 7 playable characters in this game and I'll describe them all here
with starting levels and the special abilities they can learn during the game.

All characters, except Ryu and Fou-Lu learn their abilities simply by
reaching a certain level. There are also moves learned from enemies or masters
But that's a story on its own, and will not be told in this section.

Let's come up with all party members shall we?

Ryu
Hero of the game.
Ryu is an average fighter. Not superstrong or weak in anything. Ryu has the
ability to transform into a dragon or to call for aid by the ancient dragons
Starting level: 1
Personal Action: Cut - Ryu will cut anything that his sword can reach
Willpower: None
Abilities: Meditate (Learn after first Fou-Lu Section)
                 Rainstorm (Complete Yorae Shrine)
                 Healing Wind (Meet Grass Dragon)
                 Holy Circle (Meet Tree Dragon)

                 Onslaught (Meet Sand Dragon)
                 Flood Tide (Meet Sea Dragon)
                 Fulguration (Meet Rock Dragon)

Fou-Lu
First Emperor of the Fou Empire
Fou-Lu plays his own game. On ocasion the story goes to him, and he'll have
to play his own game in his own way. Money and items Fou-Lu acquires are his
own and will not be transferred to Ryu and Co and vice versa.
Fou-Lu is extremely strong and can attack twice a turn.
Starting level: 64
Personal Action: None
Willpower: None
Abilities: Meditate (Learn at leaving his Tomb)

Nina
Princess of Wyndia
Nina is very weak, but very fast and your main healer. Keep her in the
backside if you don't need her, because if she's out, you're in trouble
Starting Level: 5

                       Does not work indoors.

Ershin
Ershin is a strange girl who travels in some kind of armor. She wears it all
the time so nobody knows what she looks like. She hides a very mysterious
secret
Ershin is not weak in attacks, but misses easily, however Momo in BOF3 misses
more. When you give her the right armor (which you can make yourself later in
the game) you can give her quite some defesive cababilities. She also has very
powerfull spells, but very little AP. However her concentration points are
very high, so one or 2 turns in the back row and he can use that spells again.
Starting Level: 3
Personal Action: Ram - Ershin will ram things and destroy them
Willpower: Coverfire - From the backrow Ershin may attack the enemy
Abilities: Risky Shot Game Start
                 Wild Shot Lv 7

                 Quake Lv 23
                 Inferno Lv 28

Cray
Nina's childhood friend and chief of the Worrens
Cray is the powerhouse of your party. He's slow, but his power can make it
up for it. Cray's magic is of the power up type. Like putting defense up
and stuff
Starting Level: 7
Personal Action: Push - Cray can push certain object
Willpower: Cover - When a character with little HP is being attacked

                 Stone Pillar Lv 17
                 Might Lv 21
                 Shield Lv 25
                 Quake Lv 30

Scias
Mercenary. Hired to keep an eye on Ryu and friends.
Scias is not superstrong, but a balance in strength and speed. His defensive
capabilities suck. His "ShiningBlade" move can come in handy.
He has healing spells but not as powerful as Nina's.
Starting level: 13
Personal Action: None

                           his PWR

Ursula

at once. 90% of her attacks miss. She can come in handy in the use of magic
spells and forming combos.

| Masters | IDXB002 |

During your quest you can meet all sorts of people willing to teach you
things that can be very handy in battle. These people are called Masters.

You can make people study under a master. This will have two effects.
I - Some statistics will go up faster or slower when you level up.
II - You'll get an ability that you will automaticly execute in battle.
That ability is called the "Will". Some Wills are very handy. Others
     are a big pain.
So you understand that you must pick well which master you let your party
member study under.

Aside from studying they can also teach you moves accordig to how well you
did. For example they can ask to make a 5 hit combo to learn a new spell.
For that you don't need a party member to apprentice under a master. Just
do what he/she asks for and the move is yours.

*** Rwolf
Location: On the road of Kurok
    Statistics: AP +1, Pwr -1, Wis +1
Will: Haste. Can make you move faster than anybody
    Requirement: None
    Asks for: Hits in Combos
    Teaches: Eddy 5 hit combo
                    Plateau 10 hit combo
                    Magic Ball 15 hit combo
                    Flame Pillar 20 hit combo
Recommendation: You need his Magic Ball and Flame Pillar.
Magic Ball for Ryu, Flame Pillar for Cray
For studying I advice Nina, Ryu and Ursula to study
                    under him.

*** Stoll
    Location: Thief's hideout
    Statistics: Agl +1
Will: Filch. Attacks can sometimes steal, but only items you
                           never had before
Requirement: Pay him all your money
Asks for: Diffrent kinds of items in your inventory
Teaches: Steal 80 kinds of items
Recommandation: Ignore. He's crap. And giving him all your money is far
too much to ask for. You need your cash pretty bad.

*** Una
Location: Worent. Upstairs in Elders house
    Statistics: HP +12, Pwr +2, AP -2, Def +1, Wis -1
Will: Wild. Deal more damage but accuracy will go down.
Requirement: Apologize to her after you fought Kahn in Worent
    Asks for: Damage in Combos
Teaches: Pilfer 1500 damage in combo
Super Combo 3000 damage in combo
                    Blitz 10000 damage in combo
Recommendation: Her power upgrades are great during most of the game
but her cutting in magic will cost you during the final
battles of the game. The fact that your accuracy goes
down is also a true bother. There's one fight in this
game in which her Blitz can come in handy, but for that
you don't have to apprentice under her as long as you
make that 3000 damage in one combo. Blitz can also be
                    copied from enemies though.

*** Njomo
Location: House at "?" spot east of Ahm Fen
    Statistics: HP -8, AP+1, Agl +2
Will: Pique - Makes counterattacks critical attacks
Requirement: At least one house built in the Faerie Village
Asks for: Faeries in your village
Teaches: Faerie Attack 8 Faeries in your village
Faerie Breath 12 Faeries in your village
War Shout 16 Faeries in your village
Faerie Charge 20 Faeries in your village
Recommendation: Be careful. HP down is quite a price. AP+1 is not enough
to make it up for it. As for agility, I think you can
better count on Rwolf's Haste Will. Her moves can come
in handy, but for most of her moves you are required to
have some fairies in assigned to the "Troops" job. For
you see the power of her moves is pending on the fairies
you assigend to it since they come to your aid in battle.
Her moves cost very much AP, that is a steep price, but
                    the effects can be nice.

*** Momo
    Location: Windmill in Wyndia
    Statistics: HP +8
Will Drowse - On the back row you might fall asleep, but gain
a few HP and AP for that
    Requirement: None
    Asks for: Game time
Teaches: Spray 20 hours of gameplay
                    Clip 30 hours of gameplay
                    Oracle 40 hours of gameplay
                    Egghead 50 hours of gameplay
Recommendation: +8 hitpoints with no penalties is very good, and
considering what the final battle will bring very good
for training purposes. However, her will is pain. If you
are pretty good at RPG games, you might consider her,
and take the risks her will gives you since most of the
game is very well playable with this will. I only
recommend to release any apprentice she may have from her
services when you start on the final battle!!!
The moves she teaches are not worth the trouble.

*** Abbess
Location: In her house in chek.
    Statistics: AP +2, PWR -2, Def -2, Wis +4
Will: Reck: Makes you learn moves more easily
Requirement: Have at least one evocation spells (Rainstorm doesn't
                    count).
Asks for: Killed a certain number of diffrent kinds of monsters
Teaches: Concentrate 70 kinds of monsters
                    Sanctuary 85 kinds of monsters
                    Celerity 100 kinds of monsters
Recommendation: Not really a special master. I often use her celerity
move to create a 70 hit combo. Not that it helps much.
There's nothing noteworthy to gain from it.

*** Marlok (The treasure levels I noted can also be found in the treasure
                ball side-quest).
Location: At his house in Synesta
    Statistics: HP+16, AP+3, All other statistics -1
Will: Greed - You'll gain more money from combat
Requirement: Have the tin ball (lv 5) treasure or higher
    Asks for: Showing treasure balls
Teaches: Charm Have Copper Ball (lv 6) or better
Monopolize Have Electrum Ball (8) or better

Recommendation: Having one party member studying under him is good.
Having extra cash because of his "Greed" will is very good
since most of the stuff you need to buy would otherwise be
too expensive. I often give his Monopolize move to Nina,
to boost her to make sure her level is high enough for
"Resurrect". Marlok's final move requires that you
complete the game, as the final treasure trade cannot be
made until you a cleared the game. Don't understand why.

*** Kryrik
Location: At the ship in Shikk (after you your first ride on the

    Statistics: HP +25, AP -2, Pwr +3, Def +2, Agl -2, Wis -2
Will: Finale - Kill weakened opponents instantly
Requirement: Make a combo of at least 25 hits
    Asks for: Hits in combos
    Teaches: Megaphone 30 hit combo
                    Spirit Blast 40 hit combo
                    Cleave 50 hit combo
                    Disembowel 70 hit combo
    Recommendation: Crap! Absolutely crap!

*** Gyosil
    Location: He's fishing in Shikk
    Will: Ward
    Requirement: 3000 fishing points
    Asks for: Fishing Points
Teaches: Nothing. He gives items in stead
Recommendation: Ignore! Unless you like fishing (can't think of a reason
                    why).

*** Lyta
Location: In the orphanage in Synesta
    Will: Guard
    Requirement: Have Gyosil as master
    Asks for: Experience level
Recommendation: Nothing can make it up for the insane fishing game.

*** Kahn
Location: A "?" spot northwest of Koshka (west of Saldine)
    Statistics: HP+20, AP-4, Pwr+3, Agl+1, Wis-3
Will: Valor. When you die you might get up gaining 1 HP.
    Requirement: None
Asks for: Number of battles fought (bosses included)
    Teaches: Focus 300 fights
                    Shout 400 fights
                    Tiger Fist 500 fights
                    Flex 600 fights
Recommendation: I tell ya, this loser is good for something. He cuts
in magic, that's why I don't take him for training since
the final battles must be won with magic. However when
you are to fight the final battle, you're going to fight
a battle in which you die easily. Having Cray, Scias
and Ershin under him in that fight can save your life.
Ryu and Nina are recommended to stay under Rwolf for the
hast will then. Oh, and Ursula is senseless, she has the
Valor will already herself without him.
As for his moves. I find them worthless, but since you
fought Kahn before you know what his moves can do.

*** Bunyan

    Will: Vision - Accuracy 100%
Requirement: Have all the other masters
Asks for: Ammount of damage in one single attack
    Teaches: Backhand
                    Counter
                    Shadowwalk
Recommendation: With 3 other masters who's requirement is totally
ridiculous, you'd better leave him for what he is.

| Dragons | IDXB001 |

Both Ryu and Fou-Lu are dragons and that means that they can transform into
dragons. Ryu has an extra ability. He can use the special spells called
evocation. With that he can summon other dragons to aid him. But he can only
do that once after that he must rest at an inn to summon it again.

For transformations the next rules apply.
AP is required to make the transformation. The ammount is based on Ryu's or
Fou-Lu's level. There's also AP consumed to maintain the dragon. That too
is based on your level. When in dragon form no healing items or spells can
be used to heal you. Only resting at an inn or using an Ambrosia (which is
an extremely rare item) can heal dragon forms, so don't push it.

Furthermore Ryu's and Fou-Lu's dragon forms are linked to each other. The
reason why will be clear once the story of BOF4 develops. Especially when
you upgrade a dragon that link is important, because if Ryu's dragon upgrades
so will Fou-Lu's.

Let's get on the dragon forms shall we?

******* Ryu's dragon transformations

*** Aura
Obtained: After the first Fou-Lu section
    Fou-Lu's Eq: Astral
    Breath: Dragon Breath
    Element: None
    Upgrade: None
Remark: You'll first get a mini version of it without the
breath attack. It can still be useful though. You'll
get the complete version once you obtain Kaiser

*** Kaiser
Obtained: When Ryu gets 0 HP in the fight against Ight
    Fou-Lu's Eq: Tyrant
    Breath: KaiserBreath
    Element: None
    Upgrade: None
Remark: Ryu has no control over the Kaiser until you have obtained
                    all evocation spells.
                    (Having the transformations doesn't matter)

*** Wyvern
Obtained: Get the crystal at Mt. Giga
    Fou-Lu's Eq: Serpent
    Breath: Gigaflame
    Element: Fire
    Upgrade: Weyr (Gains: Hwajeh)

*** Myrmidon
Obtained: Get crystal at the spot where Fou-Lu had to run through
                    the burning Bushes before
    Fou-Lu's Eq: None
    Breath: Metastrike
    Element Wind
    Upgrade: Knight (Gains: Ar'yu-P'ung)

*** Behemoth
Obtained: Get the crystal at the flats after PabBab
Fou-Lu's Eq: Behemoth (yes the same one)
    Breath: MeteorStrike
    Upgrade: Mammoth (Gains: Patoh-P'ah)

*** Mutant
Obtained: Get the crystal at the En Jhou Ruins
    Fou-Lu's Eq: None
    Breath: Stardrop
    Element: None
    Upgrade: ?
Remark: You could loose this form if you give the crystal to the
sales man in Chiqua. That's harmless and it does not
matter for controlling the Kaiser. (A lot of misinformation
lives about that on the internet).

******* Fou-Lu's dragon transformations

*** Astral
    Obtained When leaving the Tomb
    Ryu's Eq: Aura
    Breath: Eraser

    Ryu's Eq: Kaiser
    Breath: Dark Wave
    Element: None
    Upgrade: None

*** Serpent
    Obtained: Crystal at Sanctum
    Ryu's Eq: Wyvern
    Breath: Waterspout
    Element: Water
    Upgrade: Peist (Gains: Pa-Bing'ah)

*** Behemoth
    Obtained: When Ryu obtains it
    Ryu's Eq: Behemoth
    Breath: MeteorStrike
    Element: Earth
    Upgrade Mammoth (Gains: Patoh-P'ah)

******* Evocations

*** P'ung Ryong
    Spell: Rainstorm
Obtained: When you finish the Yorae Shrine
Effect: Holy damage. Its power is pending on the enemies HP.

*** Ni Ryong
    Spell: Mud Flow
Obtained: You can find him at the "?" spot north of the dam.
Effect: Attack based on both Water and Earth

*** Su Ryong
    Spell: Holy Circle
Obtained: Search for a "?" spot between Shikk and the checkpoint.
Enter it and exit it east. You'll have a new location
on the world map. Enter it to find the dragon.
Effect: Everybody is 100% invulnerable for the rest of the turn.

*** Hae Ryong
    Spell: Flood Tide
Obtained: Go to the north east of the east with the ship and
dock by the rocks that shape an "L" together.
Effect: Attacks with Wind and Water. It can cancel the enemies
                    moves.

*** Ch'o Ryong
    Spell: Healing Wind
Obtained: Once in chapter 3 talk to Tarhn. Then go into the plains
go to the big rock and you may see a shining bird. (if you
are uncertain, you probably don't see the right one).
Follow the shining bird and it will lead you to the dragon
Effect: All HP healed and statusses gone. The only thing it can't
heal is a dead party member.

*** Sa Ryong
    Spell: Onslaught
Obtained: Go to Shyde and enter it.
Step into your sandflier and set Shikk as destination.
There's a part that may not be in reach. North of it
is a hill marked as a dot on your map. Use it to jump
to this spot. There's an oasis here.
Fly to it to find the dragon.
Effect: Wind attack on all enemies. Might confuse them as well.

*** The Nameless One
    Spell: Fulguration
Obtained: Speak to the guy at the River.
                    Say: - Dragons
                         - yes
                         - They all look diffrent
                         - Like grass and rocks
Now a new "?" spot will be available on the worldmap
Go there to meet the dragon.
Effect: Non-elemental attack. The more HP the enemy has the more
                    damage it does.

| Faeries | IDXB004 |
+---------------------------------------------------------------------------+
On your way from Ahm Fen to Wyndia you'll meet a Faerie. She'll ask for help
and if you accept you can start to build a faerie community.
Too bad there's no solid formula to build the perfect community. First of all
because everybody can have difrent ideas on what's important and what not.
Aside from that you're actions are pending on which faeries you actually get
some are very useless on some posts while others are worth gold on those.
The fairy in the middle is the boss faerie, and she commands the faires
according to your wishes. You need to tell her what the faeries must do.
She can tell you all the rules on how the game works, so no need to put that
in this FAQ.

There's one important thing the help in the game doesn't explain and that's
the motivation of faeries. There are 4 types of faeries
Dillegent - These are hard working faeries. Whatever they do they'll put
            their full effort in it.
Ordinairy - No specific things in their way of working
Lazy - They will work, but the quality of their work is not so well
since they don't like to work. If they are hunting they'll catch
less than normal, their jobs do not develop as fast as usual and
the shops they manage sell nothing but crap. If you want them
placed somewhere (you'll undoubtly have some once your community
grows) place them on "inn" or other not really high-in-demand
            things
Odd - The worst kind of fairies. Sometimes they work hard. Sometimes
they are lazy. Sometimes they don't work at all. And sometimes
they sabotage things with terrible results (To me it happened
that one sabotaged the hunt and because of him 6 faeries died).
You need to place them on things they cannot do damage to.

What benefits do you have from building a community.
- You can build an inn which is free. Extremely important for healing
dragon forms and for using Ryu's evocation spells.
- Master Njomo can teach you a few handy spells to aid you in battle if you
  have enough fairies.
- They can sell handy things in stores you cannot buy elsewhere.

A few handy tips for your fairy community.
- Set up a shop. They can sell Wisdom Seeds. The final battle can make them
  handy.
- Always make sure there are enough hunters. When there's no food faeries may
die, and dead faeries are not easily replaced.
- If you go for Master Njomo's moves place some faeries on Troops. Njomo's
moves do not work without them.
- If you place an inn (which I highly recommend), then that's the perfect
job for lazy and odd faeries. They cannot mess that up.
- If you are on the world map and activate some "?" spots you may have to
help some faerie hunters. If you help them, be sure to give them at least
one piece of meat. The food numbers of your community may go down if you
  don't.

| Combos | IDXB005 |
+---------------------------------------------------------------------------+
One of the most important things to master when playing Breath Of Fire IV
is without a doubt, creating combos. BOF4 has a very unique combo system
and when you manage to use it well the game can be a lot easier. In fact
some battles can hardly be won without them.

What exactly is a combo?
When two characters cast a spell right after each other a combo can be
created. When that happens you see the combo meter at the upperright
corner of your screen.

Well, yeah, that's good, but is there any benefit from that?
Well, yeah. For example if you combo two spells of the same kind the second
spell will hit one extra time. The second hit is weaker than the first hit
but that extra damage is causes is still significant. Combining two spells
of a diffrent element may even create new more powerful spells. For example
when you combine burn and cyclone you'll create the spell simoon which is
a pretty painful spell.

Effects can also happen in healing and powerup moves. With combining two
healing spells there's extra HP to be gained out of a healing spell and
when combined with a powerup move you may get some extra healing or statup.
So overall there's much to gain from combos.

What are the deciding factors whether or not a combo is created?
- First of all the order in which you set your party members.
The one you place first will always act first.
- Second the two spells must be cast in succession. If there's any sort
of move from either you or the enemies coming between the two spells
a combo will NOT be created.
- Lastly, a matter of luck is required. There's is a random factor. Mostly
a combo will form, but sometimes it won't happen. The chance of a succesful
combo in this factor is based on your wisdom, and then the wisdom of the
character who follows up in the combo. So the second character decides
whether or not to combo. If you try to get 3 party members into a combo
then the 2nd one decides if there's a combo at all and the 3rd one decides
if he/she takes part in the combo as well.

Creating new spells?
Yup. Combining elements will create new spells. But only in a certain order

    Wind ---> Water ---> Earth ---> Fire ---> Wind

For this part we also need to get into some extra stuff. Spell levels:
(In which dragon counts as level 3 unless a dragon spell is required)
        Fire Water
     1. Burn/Flare/Hwa Frost/Bing
     2. Fireblast/Jeh Icicle/Iceblast/Bing'ah
     3. Inferno/Flame Pillar Blizzard
Dragon. Hwajeh Pa Bing'ah

        Wind Earth
     1. Sever/Eddy/P'ung Rock Blast/Patoh
     2. Cyclone/Nah P'ung Stone Pillar/Plateau/Chi Patoh
     3. Typhoon Quake
Dragon. Ar'yu P'ung Patoh P'ah

Now the combo spells can be created like this.

Fire+Wind ---> Explosion
Fire + Lv 1. Wind                     ------> Firewind
Fire + Lv 2. Wind                     ------> Simoon
Fire + Lv 3. Wind                     ------> Gigaflare
Fire + Wind + Ar'yu P'ung             ------> Earthbreaker

Wind+Water ---> Thunder
Wind + Lv 1. Water                    ------> Jolt
Wind + Lv 2. Water                    ------> Lightning
Wind + Lv 3. Water                    ------> Thunderstorm
Wind + Water + Pa Bing'Ah ------> Mjolnir (Gameshark required)

Water+Earth ---> Disaster
Water + Lv 1. Earth                   -----> Storm
Water + Lv 2. Earth                   -----> Tempest
Water + Lv 3. Earth                   -----> Disaster
Water + Earth + Patoh-P'ah            -----> Catastrophe

Earth+Fire ---> Eruption
Earth + Lv 1. Fire                    -----> Eruption
Earth + Lv 2. Fire -----> Magma Blast
Earth + Lv 3. Fire                    -----> Ragnarok
Earth + Fire + Hwajeh                 -----> SuperNova

That covers them all.
I must note, in my combo FAQ it already caused to receive a lot of hate-mail
because I stated there (and here) that the Mjolnir combo requires a gameshark.
Well, I stand by that for you see, you must use the Pa Bing'ah spell to create
that combo, and the only playable character who can perform that spell happens
to be Fou-Lu. Since Fou-Lu is alone in ALL his sessions he's not able to
create a combo. A gameshark might help to transfer that spell to Ryu.
Don't ask me codes. I don't own a Gameshark. (Somebody, don't remember who
tipped me on that move. Whoever it was, thanks again).

Secret Combo Spells
Not very noteworthy but here goes
Fire + Wind + Melee attack by Nina -----> Phoenix
Earth + Fire + Melee attack by Ursula -----> Reflect
Wind + Water + Melee attack by Scias -----> Ice Sword

One last thing!
I'm not going to make a list of all combos that do great hits, but here I
got a 70 hit combo for you. Have Cray to learn Celerity from Abbess.
Nina and Scias should both have Vitalize.
Now go to the abandoned village. If you encounter Trunkeds, set Cray in 1st
and make Nina and Scias follow. Cast Celerity and make it follow up with
Nina and Scias both casting vitalize. If it all works you got a 70 hit combo.
Also the highest requirement from a master.

You start this game with Nina after your Sandflier crashed.

CHAPTER I - At the beginning

+---------------------------------------------------------------------------+
Just leave the screen to go to the world map.
Go to Cliff, and then an exclamation mark will appear above your head.
That means there's a cutscene on the worldmap that you may not skip.
Press "X" to open the cutscene.
Now Ryu will join the party.
After the talk you'll leave this place.
Go to Cliff

+---------------------------------------------------------------------------+
| Cliff | IDXC002 |

| Ryu 1 | Nina 5 |
+---------------------------------------------------------------------------+
There's not really much to this dungeon. More some kind of introduction to
introduce both Nina and Ryu to you and to allow you to get in touch with
the battle system, which is pretty easy to use, actually.
It's just a matter of following the road.
Halfaway Nina will explain how the jumping works.
The second time you jump it goes wrong and Nina will fall down.
Ryu will go after her.
Now Nina will tell you she can fly. A handy personal action to use.
After this the game will turn over to the first Fou-Lu Section.

+---------------------------------------------------------------------------+

| Fou-Lu 64 |
+---------------------------------------------------------------------------+
First of all. Ignore all treasure chests Fou-Lu will come past. Fou-Lu
doesn't share his items with Ryu and Co (like you see in other RPG games),
and Ryu will come in this place later. He has better use for those items than
Fou-Lu has.
- Go down the stairs and exit west
- Use the stone ramp to go north and you can hop over the pillars (the
spot to do this will be marked)
Now you can just follow the path
  You will meet two guards.
After Fou-Lu rids himself of those guards exit west

You'll end up on the world map. Go west and enter the "?" spot
- Follow the south path and keep following it.
That path will lead up a mountain.
At the top of it you'll meet Yohm. This guy is gonna cause you a lot of
trouble in your Fou-Lu sessions. He'll summon a monster you'll have to
  fight.

+---------------------------------------------------------------------------+
- The way through the bushes-on-fire is easy. Impossible to take the wrong
way. Make your way through and exit west
- Try to cross the bridge. This will go wrong and the game will switch
back to Ryu who'll now also be able to use "Meditate".

Well basically this was too short to set a new section on, but that was for
the organization of this FAQ. Just follow the road and exit north.
Now you can go to the city of Sarai

+---------------------------------------------------------------------------+
| Sarai | IDXC005 |

+---------------------------------------------------------------------------+
Upon arriving Nina will suggest to part ways, as she only took you with her
to get you to town so that you can find somebody you know. It doesn't matter
if you let her go or not. If you allow her to go, she'll join with you again
soon anyway.
- Go to the tavern
- The guy at the south sells you a "Treasure". See the Treasure section for
  more information about that.
Now speak to the guy with the chop of meat standing by the bar.
He wants you to buy him food. You'll have to play the "Buying Food"
mini-game. The trick is to vary in what you give this guy.
When he's happy he'll tell you about the information broker.
  Leave the Tarvern
- If you let Nina go you may meet her now. You can speak to her and she'll
join the party once again. You can also ignore her, she'll join you again
  anyway, so it doesn't matter.
Find the inn (South-West of the village). The man with glasses standing in
front of it is the Information Broker. Ask him about the sandflier parts
He'll ask money. You gotta make an offer. Offer about 130+ zenny. That
comes close by what he wants.
Once he told you leave the village of Sarai
- On the world map hang around until you see halfaway a question mark appear
above Ryu's head. Press X. If you see a merchant near a pool, you're at
the right spot. If not exit this place. Ask him and he'll give you the
  password.
  Go back to Sarai.
- If Nina is not yet in your party she'll await you upon entering Sarai and
  join you.
Go back to the tarvern and talk to the bartender. Now that you know the
password he'll allow you into the backroom.
- You'll speak with a shopkeeper here. He'll send you to Sandflier Valley
Now leave Sarai and go there.

+---------------------------------------------------------------------------+
- On the northside is a ramp. Go up it.
All the way east is a steering wheel.
Turn it right to get access to a treasure. Turn it east to open the way to
get further this mission. Go south and enter that what remains of a ship.
You can go down in there. Then go east and enter the sandflier wreck.
Switch the device and outside an anchor you can use as elevator will lower.
Go outside and go up with this "elevator"
  Exit north
- Talk to the guy here.
You can dig for the parts you need if you rent a shovel. If you rent the
dog as well, it will mark all places for you where you can find stuff which
includes the sandflier parts you need.
The parts are easy. Stand on the rubbish west and go 3 steps east from
  there to find the parts.
After a few attempts the shovel will break.
If you got the parts you're done here
  Exit south
- Use the "elevator" to go down and go west
  Inside the upside-down-flyer go up
From there go west and you should find the exit of the valley quite easily.

| You'd be temped to save your AP in order to use healing magic. But that's |
| not the key to victory. The key is to use up all your AP to cast sever on |
| it. Even though you have little AP, since your levels aren't that high at |

and you'll get the exclamation mark. Press X and watch the scene. After all
the talk exit this location and go to Chamba.

- Go up the stairs in the North-East of town and talk to the old man here.
He'll tell you about the Hex that's over this town and the the group of
purifiers who are cleaning it up. After this chat the purifiers will call it
a day and stop their activities.
  Now enter the north building
- Talk to the guy next to the stove. His name is Tahb. But he's eating now and
will ask you to come back later. Exit the building
- Go to the east building and enter
- Talk to the little guy to take a nap. (Save if you want)
Now go back to the north building to speak with Tahb again
- He'll refuse to help you but will allow you to enter the cursed area if
you can find somebody in his crew willing to guide you through it.
  Leave the building
- Go to the "inn" (east building) and ask around. You'll find that everyone
will refuse to help because it's too dangerous.
Leave the inn and go back to the north building were Tahb will be standing
  in front of the door.
- Talk to him. During this talk Ershin will appear and offer to help you.
  Ershin will join the party
  After this exit east.

= Take the easten route south
= Go all the way south until Ershin starts to explain things
= The east exit leads to treasure (Waistcloth)
But you gotta keep going south
= Hop over to the valve and examine it. The game will automaticly switch
    to Ershin
= Move off the crate and climb down the ladder
= Go north around the corner to the east
= Go east between the two houses
  = Go south
= Keep following the road until you come pass the other valve.
  = Use it
= The party will reunite and exit to the next room
- Follow the road. You'll be haunted a few times by something scary.
It's the next boss, but pay no attention to it the first 2 times.
The third time it will attack. Ryu must run over the bridge. You can do
that by pressing the circle button as quickly as you can. If you fail you'll
start the next boss fight poisoned.

| let's get into the first real comboing stuff. Set Ryu in 1st position |
| and Nina in second (you can do that with the left and right direction |
| buttons) and let Ryu cast "Hwa" and Nina case "Sever". Under normal |

| "FireWind". You may need to use combos more often in the game, see the |

Use the directional keys to spin the wheel as fast as you can and press
circle as soon as an exclamation mark appears.
Go up the ladder again to exit
- Go west and go up the ladder
From here go east to cross the sluice
Go all the way east and exit east
- Exit south at the end of the corridor
- go all the way south and go down the ladder
  Lower the bridge
And go back to the leader.
Now the dragon who's at the other side of the dam will go berserk.
You'll have to operate the elevator yourself.
The boss will give you the crank.
  Now go to the elevator
Examine the terminal, and you'll attach the crank
now keep using it until the elevator has lowered enough to board
  the rest will happen automaticly.
Don't worry, you'll get out of this mess anyway.

- You'll end up on the world map go north of an exclamation mark piece
enter the scene and you'll meet the dragon an an old lady.
She'll offer to sing a song. Give her 100 zenny to hear the right song.
After this is all over the next destination is Kyria

This city is a bit odd. The entire town has been covered in traps. So
whatever you do watch you step. All traps are very easy to see so as long as
you use your eyes nothing should happen.
- Go to the bridge and cross it.
Now you'll be at the mayor's house but entering won't do anything.
Fall on purpose into the hole behind the house
- Climb the ladder
- Now you're inside the house.
Speak to the bird and give the next answers to him
= We really have no time for this
  = No
  = No
  = Not really
  = Where's the mayor
Now exit east to leave the house

- Follow the road and some guy will stop you.
He'll tell you about a monster you can lure out with an apple. Forget that
story, because it won't get you anywhere.
The trick of this dungeon has nothing to do with that stupid apple trick.
After the talk follow the road and exit east
- This area is hard to navigate through, and even harder to write a FAQ on.
As I said before, forget that apple lure trick and more importantly,
  AVOID THE TRAPS!
I'll try to give it my best shot in this impossible-to-write-a-FAQ-about
  part.
= Go south. You'll come past a hanging plate trap.
= Go up the hill and you'll come past a falling cage trap.
= Go downhill on the path north of the bridge with a hole beside it
= Go north and avoid the trap-hole
= Hop over to the north
= Go down the hill and take the path you just hopped over
  = Exit east
I hope that helps you out
- Go east and hop over the waterfall
Hop your way west and then north
Then hop over to the east and go uphill
Take the northpath to reach the exit

After the talk you'll fall into a Kyria trap. Nothing that can prevent that

- The building just beside the well you came out is an orphanage. Enter it.
- Talk to the nun, she'll say she has to give the children their meals.
  Leave the orphanage
- When you come outside you see another nun chasing after a kid, but he
knows to outsmart her. Talk to her and she'll say she has to catch Chino
Now talk to the kid and he'll challenge you to a catching game.
This brings us to a pretty frustrating minigame.
Now it makes no sense just to run after him. He's way to fast for you to
catch. Trying to get him from the other side won't help either. He'll
detect that trick and turn around as soon as he sees you. The trick is
to lure him into some kind of ambush. Follow him until you see a open
spot with two sets of steps. Get on those steps and wait for Chino to come.
When he comes cut him off and you can catch him.
When you caught him Chino will challenge you to a game of hide and seek.
Now you have to find the children who hid themselves all over Synesta.
You cannot find Chino. That comes later. There are 6 kids hidden in town.
if you find all 6 then talk to the young nun. (I won't tell you were the
kids are, to give you some fun. Really need to know where they are, then
I noted all kids locations in the mini-game section). She'll mention that
Chino is still missing. It appears that he hid in the "Cellar".
  Leave the orphanage
- Get on the stairs and find the guy guarding the stairs into the cellar.
He'll refuse to believe Chino sneaked into the cellar and also refuse to
let you in to look for him. After he shouted at you, he's getting thirsty.
Now further on the wall is a woman with a water jar on her head talk to
her. Now wait at proper distance from the guard so he'll get a drink from
the water lady leaving the stairs so you can enter. (if you're too close
  he'll refuse the drink).

- Take the stairs down

- Exit north
- Go east and go downstairs
- The tables are smashed and you can use them as ramps to get over the

Go ver the east table. Then make your way onto the bar
You get get on the floor behind the bar and from there you can make your
  way out.
  Exit south
- Go up the stairs.
From there go all the way north
  Exit east
- Go all the way down the stairs and exit north at the end
- You may see Chino already, but you cannot get him yet so don't bother
  Exit north
- Go up the stairs and exit at the end of them
- Enter the most south cell and stand on the wooden part to fall through it
- Now you can reach Chino. Talk to him to complete this dungeon.

| This guy is not as weak as the game pretends him to be. As stupid and |
| pathetic as he is, he can sometimes be dangerous. He's not a true threat |
| though. But to be really strong he has to use his "Focus" move. (which |
| can be copied from him). So you can always predict when his most |
| dangerous attacks can come. The Focus move only works for the next turn |
| so that makes things easy. Having Cray to cast protect over everybody |
| does make things even easier. Turning into a dragon makes no sense. It |
| will not aid you at all. And his shout move is simply pathetic. It can |
| cancel everybody's turns. A bit annoying, but still pathetic. |
+---------------------------------------------------------------------------+
After this battle you'll get to talk to Marlok. But he ain't helping you for
free. He wants you to catch a thief you stole his goods.
Nina will have to stay with him, so you'll have to do without her for awhile.

+---------------------------------------------------------------------------+
Entering the Hideout directly will get you nowhere. The thief won't be there.
Hang around on the road between Synesta and the hideout until a question-mark
appears. Press X when that happens. You should meet the thief here, if not
exit the location and try it again. The thief will make a run for it and you
automaticly run after him to the hideout.

Enter the cave. Go close to the thief and the "Catch The Thief" minigame will
start. You'll never catch him. He's too fast. You have to place the barrels
that way that there's no place for him to run off too. A good strategy is
described in the minigame section. After you caught the thief return back
to Synesta to report to Marlok. He'll give you another task. Go to the wharf
for your next task.

+---------------------------------------------------------------------------+
Talk to the guy up north and he'll give you instructions. Then enter the
building on the east. Once in the "Clean up the Barrels" minigame will start.
A quick way to do it is by Ramming all barrels with Ershin, but that will
give you very little game points. You can earn more points by excellent
planning. Destroy the broken barrels with Ershin, and let Cray push the the
neat barrels to the south platform and the vases to the north.
My work method is in the mini game section.

After this you get another mini-game. Loading the sandflier. It's a game
that can give you quite some points so firing your best shot will do good.
This game can stress you out but keep cool. Forget that silly timer and go.

After this Marlok will bring you to the gateway of the Fou Empire.
During your trip the game will switch over to Fou-Lu

+---------------------------------------------------------------------------+
| Ymechaf's defenses are insane, so just attacking it will not help you one |
| bit. His attacks are strong too, so this boss can be very extremely hard |
| but, there's a trick. A trick that can make you (if you are lucky). Win |
| this fight without loosing one single HP. In the first round. Put Ryu and |
| Nina in the front row. Ryu 1st, Nina 2nd. The third character is not |
| imporant since that one must guard. Ryu should have "Burn" by now. If not |
| then prepare for trouble. BIG TROUBLE. If he has it, cast it and have |
| Nina to cast "Sever". If the combo succeeds (failure is no option) then |
| Ymechaf will get off balance and turn his back to you. Not only does that |
| make him unable to attack you, his defenses will be dropped to 0 for 2 |
| turns or until he's attacked in some way. Now place Cray on 1st, Ryu in |
| 2nd and Nina in 3rd. Let Cray use a normal attack. This will hurt him |
| dearly, but he'll regain his balance. However if you let Ryu and Nina do |
| their firewind combo again (Fire & Sever), he'll loose his balance again |
| will be defenseless. And then you should repeat the second turn. Keep |
| doing this until he's dead. |
| |
| One more note. |
| If 1 or more combos fail, you might have Nina running out of AP before |
| this fight is over. In that case you can put Nina in the back so she can |
| get some AP back (which she can only use in this fight) and let Cray cast |
| a "Rock Blast" and Ryu "Burn". This will also cause a combo. Less |
| powerfull than the firewind combo, but it'll get him off balance and that |
| is what matters. |

The Faerie world is confiscated by a monster called Fantam and his sons.
First of all you must seek out all the sons of Fantam. You cannot see them,
but there are textballoons containing a "Z" that mark their spots.
Go to the big field and seach for them.
(All sons of Fantam except Udy, will be hurt by healing spells. It's
not recommended to use that though, since you may need your AP to survive
all battles).
*** Bokta (Oldest son of Fantam)
Location: In the corner NE behind the tree at the very north
    Fight: Can do Lucky Strike
*** Chkom (2nd son of Fantam)
Location: South-West of the big field
Fight: Rather annoying. Tries to put you to sleep. And can do
              Rock Blast
*** Nmago (3rd son of Fantam)
Location: Behind the tree at the sign
Fight: He counters most of your attacks
*** Kyo (4th son of Fantam)
Location: South-East of the big field
Fight: He'll more do on powerdown moves then serious fighting.
*** Udy (Youngest son of Fantam)
Location: Behind the tree at the North-East of the big field
Fight: He drains your HP and AP and your attacks will all be
dodged. Combos will help you. Firewind (Burn+Sever) will do

Scias will join the party again.
You will now have a chance to speak with P'ung Ryuong the wind dragon.
He'll tell you a thing or two about Ryu (not all you need to know though
but that comes later). And he'll bring you to a new area. An area where
people live that can clear a lot up for you. After the long talk with
P'ung Ryong leave the area where you're in and go to the Ice Peak
(Heh, not much else to go to).

On top you can take the northern path for treasure
The southernpath leads to the exit
- Just follow the road and exit at the south. Can't go wrong.
- Exit west
- = Let Cray push the snowball
= Go around it and go south all the way
  = Push the snowball west
= Push the other snowball west
  = Push it west again

Upon entering the village you may think that it's solely inhabited by kids.
But your eyes are deceiving you. They only look like children, but they
aren't. They've had too much exposure to the holy powers of "The Endless"
which makes them look like children. Things will get clear as the story
develops at this point.
Most east of the village is the house of the Abbess. Go there.
The Abbess will explain things she knows about life streams. After that
she'll offer you a place to rest

After the rest leave the house to discover you are in a dreamworld.
The Abbess already found out what Ryu is, and wants to know things.
And during the talk an important discovery will be done about Ershin.

After all this is done, leave the hut to catch up with Nina and Cray.
Go up the wall on the north and on it head east.

You'll catch up with the Abbess and Ershin.
The Abbess will do a shocking revelation about Ershin and you have to get
into Ershin's mind.

- Follow the path. (You can ignore the chest for now. You'll get past it
  on your way back).
When you come at the T-crossing go north
and follow the road to the exit.
- Hop all the way north until you find a crystal.
With the crystal you can stop the thing from turning.
You must stop it when two paths above each other are at your side.
The path below leads to the end. If may happen that you still got the
wrong way since there are two of these situations, but it's the best
way to explain it without pictures.
Go west on it and all the way up.
In the middle you can see a freen cube in which a woman is trapped.
  Talk to her.
Then examine one of the pillars to start a boss battle.

| You have to do this systematicly. The pillars use each other to |
| regeneratem and you cannot beat that on a regular way. Transform Ryu into |
| aura and the others to defend. (If Scias has Momo as master put him on |
| the front rank to prevent him from falling asleep. You need him). |
| In the second turn let Ryu cast Hwa on Agiel (Blue one) and let Scias do |
| Shining Blade. Cray should cover it up with a normal attack. if the combo |
| between Ryu and Scias is succesful Agiel should be dead after this turn. |
| Thanks to that Yeleb (the black one) can no longer regenerate, so you can |
| focus all your attacks on that one now. (Cyclone might kill it leaving |
| Umadap very weak). Azeus is on its own very pathetic so killing it should |
| leave no more problem. |
+---------------------------------------------------------------------------+
After this fight the woman will be free and you can go back down.
Back at the crystal hop all the way south and exit south
- Go all the way south
  at the end go south-east
  Hop over to the west.
You can open the chest for a water ward
  and drop off west
Exit west to complete this dungeon.

After this you'll get to see how Fou-Lu is doing. Soon you gotta play him
again, but that will take awhile. For now we get back to Chek with Ryu and

- Go south down the hill
Follow the road until you meet Mami's landlord.
He doesn't trust you. Mami will cover up for you and pretend you are her
  cousin "Ryong".
After this meeting you'll hear more of Ershin's story. Now you'll understand
Fou-Lu's part of this entire story. Fou-Lu will also tell a thing or two
  about his history.
When you get control over the game again, you are once again controlling
  Fou-Lu in Mami's house.
- Save if you want and exit the hut.
- Follow the road and exit west
- Follow the road to the west until Mami catches up with you.

When done that follow the road and exit west at the end of it.
- Follow the road and go the first road north
You'll meet Mami. She'll tell you of the God of the mountain who is

After this fight you'll not only have the dragon form "Kaiser" (which cannot
be controlled until you got all evocation spells). You'll now also have the
full version of Aura. Now the true search for dragon forms and evocation
spells can begin. I may note it when certain dragon forms and evocation spells
can be achieved.
This chapter is over. And chapter III will start with Fou-Lu

CHAPTER III - Streams
+---------------------------------------------------------------------------+
| Sonne IV (Fou-Lu) | IDXC01Q |
+---------------------------------------------------------------------------+
| Fou-Lu 65 |
+---------------------------------------------------------------------------+
Let's first note that Fou-Lu also has a new dragon form now. Tyrant.
Unlike Ryu's Kaiser, Fou-Lu has control over Tyrant.
- Exit east
- Go round the corner to the south and keep going south exit west at the
  end of the path
- Go to the Sanctum.

+---------------------------------------------------------------------------+
| Sanctum | IDXC01R |

| Fou-Lu 65 |
+---------------------------------------------------------------------------+
- Examine the stone barrier at the start of the cave. An animal will
sacrifice its life so that you can enter.
  Enter
- Go west and exit west
- Follow the road and go south-west
At the end of the road is a crystal.
Examine it to obtain the dragon form "Serpent".
  Exit west
- Follow the corridor and exit west at the end of it.
- Exit west
- Take the road down the mountain
  And exit at the end
- Go to Soma Forest (noted as "Soma" on the worldmap)

+---------------------------------------------------------------------------+
| Soma Forest | IDXC01S |

| Fou-Lu 65 |
+---------------------------------------------------------------------------+
(As far as I know, Ryu cannot get here, so opening chests causes no harm
this time).
- = Go west
  = Exit west
- Keep going west until a hex will be shot on you.
That ends this session with Fou-Lu
  Back to Ryu and company.
  Send them back to Chek.

+---------------------------------------------------------------------------+
| Chek VI | IDXC01T |

Go to the house of the Abbess and discuss your current situation with her.
When you're done talking to the Abbess Ursula will join the party.
Now seek out Deis. She'll go back into the armor again, which makes that
Ershin will rejoin the party. You'll automaticly leave Check.
Go to the Mt. Ryft.

+---------------------------------------------------------------------------+

- Exit South
- Hop over to the south
  Go west
(The chest in the pool has a weapon for Ershin)
Go around the pool to the west
When the road split in two go south-west
- Get on the raft for the "Rafting" mini game. If you mess up on purpose
you can get 3x fish-head from a chest close to where you end up.
If you succeed you can exit south to complete this dungeon.
  Go to Shyde.

+---------------------------------------------------------------------------+
| Shyde | IDXC01V |
+---------------------------------------------------------------------------+
| Ryu 20 | Nina 20 | Ershin 18 | Cray 18 | Scias 18 | Ursula 20 |
+---------------------------------------------------------------------------+
Small as Shyde is, it's a horrible town to navigate through.
- Go upstairs and from there go all the way north
- Go downstairs and cross the bridge
At the other side of the bridge go upstairs and talk to the puppetter.
Ask him about Shift. You'll learn to warp over the worldmap, but only to
places you've been after this chat.
Go downstairs again. And go into the small building
- Talk to the guy here to buy a sandflier. But you won't have enough cash.
(It doesn't matter how much zenny you have, it'll never be enough)
  Leave
- Ursula and Scias will hijack a sandflier that passes.
Then it will happen that this sandflier belongs to somebody you know well.
He'll give you a bond, so that you can buy your own sandflier.
Go back into the builing to the north
- Now that you have a bond you can buy the sandflier.
The guy will lead you to your sandflier.
Board the sandflier and and for Kyoin.

+---------------------------------------------------------------------------+
- Go North and exit north
- Go upstairs towards the tower and you'll be told that the Causeaway is out
  of order. Darn.
Go back south and exit south
- Ursula will scold you for breaking the Causaway
  Go back to your sandflier.
A guy (who looks like Stoll) will be there.
Say that it's your sandflier and allow him to go with you to Shikk.
Board the sandflier and go to Shikk
Leave the area you end up and go to Mt. Giga.

  = North and immediatly west
  = Drop off west

  = Go east
  = All the way north
  = West
  = north
  = East
= Step on the cable lift to move it.
- Take the road down
Follow it until you come out under the platform
You cannot see it, but there is a road south to get to the other road here
(If you don't know it, you might search for it forever).
From there go up and you'll come out on the east path
Go all the way east and exit.
From here go to the Checkpoint.

= Walk all the way north and a bearded man will tell you that the road is
closed because of some arguments between serveral countries in the allience.
Cray will try to reason with them, but that ends in a fight. Cray has to
fight these guys alone, but they are too easy to even write about.
After that the cart pushing game begins
= Put Cray in the lead
= Push the cart beside the one with the jumping frog child on it east 3x
= Push the cart in front of the guards north 3x
= Push the other cart east 4x
= Get on the roof of the barns here using the ladder
= Jump off the green roof to the north to get on the wall
= Drop off north
= Exit north

*** ALERT! Evocation ahead!!
You need to go to Shikk, but before going there enter the "?" spot that
you may encounter halfaway. Go north then enter the east way and exit east.
You'll be back on the worldmap. A new location (marked as ?) is now east of
you. Enter it to find the tree dragon who teaches you "Holy Circle".

- Go to the store, which is in the lower part of town
- Go down stairs
- Talk to the guy at the east side of the bar. This is Zig.
You'll ask him for a ride on his ship, but he'll refuse.
You must have the blessing of the god of the sea.
  Leave the bar
- Leave the store
- Leave the town
- Go to Fane.

- = Talk to the guy who guards the entrance. He should let you pass. If not
you must talk to Zig in Shikk first.
= Just follow the road north
= At the end go east
  = Go North
= From here go down and head east
  = Exit north
- Follow the corridor and exit east at the end of it
- Exit North-East
- Get the wave stone and leave the room
- Exit west
- Follow the corridor and drop the Wave Stone into the pool in the end
  Exit south
- Go west and get on the ramp
  Go north
Take the northen way and enter the cave
- You'll meet Hae Ryong, the sea dragon. You will (too bad) not get his
evocation move now. For that you have to take on another puzzle which
comes later (see dragon section). He will however give you a Salt Stone
and that will give you passage on Zig's ship.
  Leave the cave.
- = Go to the wooden bridge and cross it
  = Go west
  = Go south
  = Follow the wooden catwalks
  = Exit
- Go to Shikk

+---------------------------------------------------------------------------+
| Ryu 20 | Nina 21 | Ershin 18 | Cray 18 | Scias 19 | Ursula 20 |
+---------------------------------------------------------------------------+
Go back to Zig and show him the Salt Stone.
That's one step closer, but he'll object against the fact that there are
women in your party. An old sea tradition says that women should be on ships
since it brings bad luck. Nina and Ursula will have to proove themselves.
(You'll meet on familiar guy, but that's more a comic note at this moment).
Task one is that Nina has to fight Iggy in the mast. Which is in fact one
of the worst minigames the game has. If you fail, have Nina to talk to Zig
again. When you succeed you get your next task
Talk to Zig when you are ready.

There's not much down here. Just two fights, in which you have (naturally)
only Nina and Ursula at your disposal.

The first fight is against the "Copycat". If you attack it physically it'll
become a warrior creature (Sepoy). If you attack it with magic it'll become
a wizard creature.
If you do nothing at all it'll get bored an start using Blitz all the time.

The second fight is against a bunch of rats. Put Ursula as 1st and Nina as 2nd
and let Ursula cast "Fireblast" and Nina "Cyclone". It should combo into
"Simoon" which finishes them all off.

After these two fights the game will switch to the men (plus Ershin, haha,
Zig couldn't know that there's a woman in that armor).

Go outside the inn. Zig is waiting at the ship. Since he's seen how
determined Nina and Ursula are, he'll let them an board the ship.

Talk to Zig to depart

+---------------------------------------------------------------------------+
| Ship | IDXC022 |
+---------------------------------------------------------------------------+
| Ryu 20 | Nina 21 | Ershin 18 | Cray 18 | Scias 19 | Ursula 20 |
+---------------------------------------------------------------------------+
The compass is gone. Dang. We'll have to do without it.
- Go downstairs
- Take the lower doorway beside the steps
- Exit at the other side of this room
- Go down the ladder
- Nina will explain how she spent the night with Ursula here.
Something will then bump the ship.
Head all the way back to the deck.
And there you'll have to fight "HIM" again.

+---------------------------------------------------------------------------+
You'll end up in the sleeping hut after this fight.
- Go to the doorway (the one behind Ursula's back)
- Steps up, exit
- Talk to Zig. Nina (who is in the crow's nest) will report a strange
island. This is The Island Of Fire (Cove).
Talk to Iggy to go over there.

When the flame is blue you are in a safe area without traps.

When the flame is red the trap is right before your eyes.
You can use that info to navigate over this puzzle.
Want me to give the route?
  Sigh...
  Okay, here goes :)
  = Take the east route
= Go north till the flame is red
= Go west till you cannot go further
= Go north till the flame is red
= Go east till the first crossing
= Go north till the first crossing
= Go east till the end
= Go north till you cannot go further
= Go west till the next T-crossing
= Go north till the end of the road (flame will be yellow)
= Go east and after that north
  = Climb up the ladder
- = Go east off the ship
  = Take the east route
= Head north at the end of the road
= Head east at the end of the road
= Follow the road till you reach the exit

a SuperVitamin in a chest. That's an noteworthy item :)
From here climb the ladder and cross the bridge.

Now talk to Zig and say that you want to sail
- Read the instructions on sailing and set sail for the island with the

cut more as they cure status changes in battle.
Get back on the ship and go to Lyp.
- Leave Lyp and go back to Pabpab.
- Go to the room with the sick Pabpab. Examine it so you can cure it.

This makes you stuck here. Now a few subparts will come in play which
gets varied by a Fou-Lu session.
  But first things first

- Exit west

- Go back to camp, I don't need to tell you the way anymore, do I?

Now the game will switch to Fou-Lu

+---------------------------------------------------------------------------+
This is by far the shortest part of Fou-Lu. Just go all the way east to meet
with A-Tur and this session is over.

+---------------------------------------------------------------------------+
You once again need to return to the fishing spot. This time only Nina will
go with you. When you reach the fishing spot you won't be fishing but to play
the final Fou-Lu session in stead.

+---------------------------------------------------------------------------+
This is the last time you play with Fou-Lu. Before you begin note these
points. It's very important.
* LEAVE ALL TREASURE CHESTS BE! RYU WILL COME HERE TOO AND HE NEEDS THOSE
TREASURES MUCH MORE THAN FOU-LU DOES!!!
* There's a room at the northside of this room which contains a diary.
Use it before you do anything else, and use it between every fight.
If you run out of AP you cannot complete this section!!!

When you go to the center of this room it will appear to be a teleporter.
Yohm will teleport in and send two of his monsters to you.

with. If they are no problem for Ershin then they should be even less problem
for Fou-Lu. Just knock those suckers down.

Step on it. Don't worry for the treelogs it warns about.
Just use it to go ewest
  Hop to the south
  Use the switch
Use the gondola to go west (still no logs)
  Exit west
- Just follow the path and exit east at the end of it.
- Step on the gondola. This time you gotta watch out for the logs. If they
ram you, you'll fall into the water and then you have to start over.
You can also try to get on the logs if you succeed you can get treasure
but it'll make you have to start over. (First log can result into an

Here is a trader called Fu Chuman. He knows a road that goes towards the
capital. But he wants something in return.
- A jar from Koshka
For this you need to talk to the shopkeeper in Koshka. He'll make you one
but it takes a lot of time. You can use that time to do some sidequests
or to go out there and level up. It's a boring choice, but it's the road
  I take for serveral reasons
- Shisu
You need to go out fishin. You gotta catch 3 of any of the next fish
  = MartianSquid
  = Salmon
  = Sea Bream
- Relic from ruins
This handles the En Jhou ruins. The treasure he wants is the crystal you
need to turn into the mutant. Giving him that crystal will loose you a
dragon form. Even though the Mutant sucks I do not recommend to give him
  that.
(For those who read stories that doing this will make it impossible to
gain control over the kaiser if you do this I can say you can rest assured.
That story is a lie. A popular one, but still a lie).
If you give him one of these treasures, he'll tell about the river, and that
river will be your next target.

*** ALERT! Key to evocation is here.
The game will suggest to use Cray to move the boxes.
So put Cray in the lead and let's begin
- = Cross the bridge to the south
  = Go down the stairs
= Hop over to the north
= Push the box to the east
= Get over the boxes to the east
  = Go upstairs
  = Cross the bridge
= Get on the box and drop off to the south
= Hop over to the west
  = Go south
= Go around the corner to the east
= The plank can be used as a ramp, use it to get on the box and drop
    off east
  = Exit east
- = Use the device to open the sluice
  = Climb the ladder
= Cross the bridge formed by the sluice.
= Climb down east on the other side.
= Use the device to close the sluice
  = Go east
  = Push the box east
  = Go east
  = cross the sluice east
= You can speak to the guy here to open the road to the final evocation
spell. See "Dragons" section for more information.
  = Go east
  = Hop over south
  = Push the box west
  = Hop back
= Open the sluice next to the man.
= Now the boxes next to the man have formed a bridge. Cross it.
  = Go east
  = Climb the ladder
  = Get off east
  = Exit east

- | The boxes are back at their original position |
  | Climb over the sluice tower and take the ladder down into the river. |
  | can reach a chest containing the best weapon for Ershin for the time |

- = Go east
  = Hop over north
= Use the plank as a ramp to go up east
  = Drop off east
  = Exit East
- Your next target is Pauk, but if you talked to the guy a "?" spot can
  get you the last evocation

IMPORTANT NOTE!
By now you should have all evocations. If not check out the "Dragons" section
to get them all. If you got them all you should be able to control the Kaiser.
If you cannot control him yet you haven't got them all. There are 7 in total.
(You may not have all dragon transformations. They are not required to control
the Kaiser, and the last one lies further ahead in the game).

+---------------------------------------------------------------------------+

Enter the big tent. You'll meet Gramps. He can help you to get into the
capital, but he's shock because his pet chicken Tak is missing. Leave the
village. And go to the "?" spot to the west. Now play the final minigame.
CHICKEN CHASE. Chase Tak (the brown chicken) into the cage.
Once you caught Tak go back to Pauk and talk to Gramps.
He'll tell you about the secret passage that goes through Fou-Lu's Tomb.
So that's your next target. (The main road is shut because of some trouble
in the capital).

*** ALERT!
The "?" spot west of the Tomb is the place where Fou-Lu had to run through
the buring bushes. Here's the Wind Crystal that gives you the Myrmidon.
Now you should have all dragon transformations. If not then see the
"Dragons" section for more info on finding them. If you gave the Flawed Gen
which allows you to turn into a Mutant to Fu Chuman then I regret to tell
you that that dragon form is lost forever. Sorry.

| Won-Qu is a master of ice, and that happens to be Ryu's weakness. GREAT! |
| If you don't want him to die, the turn him into the Weyr quickly (the |
| Wyvern won't do. If you haven't upgraded that dragon you are in trouble). |
| Now it comes. Physical attacks won't do any good. Magic will have to deal |
| the blows. Fire magic to be precisely. Especially when you can combo fire |
| magic with fire magic you'll do great deal. If Ursula has Inferno she |
| should cast it like crazy. If not Fireblast will have to do. Ryu should |
| go crazy with Hwajeh. I gave Fire Pillar to Cray. So if I can attack |
| freely (and those rounds are rare) I started Cray with Flame Pillar, |
| comboed up Ursula with Fireblast and Ryu with Hwajeh. That combo will do |
| very much damage to him. In fact that's the most dangerous killer there |
| with the levels I had. But beware Won-qu's attacks are very strong. and |
| using powerup spells makes no sense. He can dispell it all in one turn. |
| Handy to know is that his Frost Breath attack is based on his HP. The |
| he lost the less damage it will do. This taken in mind should give you |
| a chance to win. |

before taking on the rest of the dungon. The enemies in the dungeon are
pretty hard, and there's another boss in there which is insanely hard.
If you wanna continue then go down the stairs here.
- Go downstairs all the way and exit north
- Go downstairs until you reach the elevator. You can use it to exit.
- You'll be in the main hall.

- Follow the corridor till the end then go west
Exit west after the barrier has been opened.
- The tablet read "Beware the RED EYE".
  Go down the ladder

| Extremely Slow. |
| Breath attacks hurts them both. |
| That sums up how to hurt them. |
| |
| Most of their moves are not so hard to deal with. The true disaster of |
| this fight is the move "Revolution". Everyone who has a lot of HP will |
| be reduced to low HP and those with high HP will be healed to lots of |
| HP. Since you wanna be high in HP all the time, you can see the results |
| I think. That in combination with the fact there's two of them of which |
| is extremely fast, this battle take very unpredictable forms. That is |
| where the hard part lies. |
| Focus on getting I out first. Then the fastest one is out, and apparently |
| they can also not use the Revolution move then. The fight is then so much |
| easier that you have no worries then any more. |

  Exit sout at the end.
- Make your way back to the main chamber
- Won-qu's Gem will crumble and the elevator in the centre will react.

- Go west and exit west
- Go to the ?-spot south of "Kwanso".

If Nina happens to have "Kyrie" then use it. If she hasn't well, this
fight isn't that hard, but this is the best oppertunity to try that move ;)
After the fight go to the curtain and exit north
- Exit north
- Go down with the elevator
- = Go south
  = Go east
  = Go south
  = Go east
  = Go south
  = Go down the stairs
= Go all the way west
  = Go north
  = Go upstairs
= Go east on the wall
= Cross the bridge to the south
  = Go west
= Go south and use the switch
  = Go north
  = Go east
  = Go south
= Go west over the sluice
  = Go south
  = Go East
= Cross the bridge south in order to exit south
- YUCK! WHAT IS THAT!
Get on the organ and climb up.
Try to cut that red thing and a familiar woman will appear and tell you
you need the dragon slayer from Lord Yuna.
Go back down and exit to the previous room
- Well the same sequence as before, but now backwards.
  (Includes controlling the sluice).
  Exit north at the end.
- Exit south
- Exit south
- Exit east
- Go downstairs and exit
- Exit south
- Go south and exit upstairs
- Exit upstairs
- Exit West
- Leave Astana
- Go to Kwanso
- Let Ursula talk to the guard you get to talk to Yuna and to snatch the
Dragonslayer from him. After that leave Kwanso and go back to Astana
- Back in Astana go back to the place with those organs (the way is the same
even though things look diffrent once you enter the building behind the
Carronade. The enemies are also a tiny bit harder, but no serious trouble
  though).
- When you are in the ogran chamber climb up. Have Ryu equipped with the
Dragon slayer and cut that red thing, and give him is old weapon (which
is probably better) back after that.
Turn east and follow the way up.
When at the top, the way southeast has to be taken. And exit up
- Walk around the room to exit east
- After your talk with Yuna hang on! One of the best armors for Nina/Ursula
is found here. It's at the backside of the house. Since you cannot come
back here, you're recommended to take that first.
  After that enter the house.
- You'll meet the girl with whom the adventure started.
After your talk leave the room.
A lot of scenario will op up and that ends the chapter.
(I warn you, if you didn't hate Yuna already, you will hate him now)

_______
| Boss \
|---------------------------------------------------------------------------+
| A-Tur | aka Another of Fou-Lu's pet dogs |
+---------------------------------------------------------------------------+
| Difficulty: Very extremely hard |
+---------------------------------------------------------------------------+
| Ryu 30 | Nina 35 | Ershin 29 | Cray 29 | Scias 28 | Ursula 30 |
+---------------------------------------------------------------------------+
| This fight is not so much diffrent for your fight with Won-qu. Like |
| Won-qu, A-Tur is a master of ice and thus weak to fire. But A-Tur is much |
| stronger than Won-qu. Going crazy with Inferno, Flame Pillar and Hwajeh |
| (available in Weyr and Kaiser) is the best you can do. A-Tur has can do |
| do anything Won-qu can, but only stronger. Three additions to his spells |
| blizzard (which is his trump card) and magma blast (something you'd never |
| expect from an ice beast). And howling, which can confuse you all, but it |
| seldom hits. I also must note that A-Tur's normal attakcs are killers. |
| Following the same technique as you did on Won-qu works best as long as |
| you keep in mind that this is a harder fight since A-Tur is much stronger |
+---------------------------------------------------------------------------+
Beating A-Tur will complete this dungeon. You'll finally meet with General
Rhun. After you're talk you'll be back on the world map and you can start
the final dungeon. The Castle.

+---------------------------------------------------------------------------+
| The Imerpial Castle | IDXC02O |
+---------------------------------------------------------------------------+
| Ryu 30 | Nina 35 | Ershin 29 | Cray 29 | Scias 28 | Ursula 30 |
+---------------------------------------------------------------------------+
The castle is the largest dungeon of the game. Not surprising for the final
dungeon I suppose. To make a bit of a system into it to search things
faster I'll make note of all the floor numbers. The dungeon starts on the 5th
floor, and you'll have to decent all the way to B3. Whenever you get on a new
floor I'll note the floor number. Alas these numbers are not on the screen
still I hope it helps.

Entrance:
- Before you cross the bridge you may want to go down so you can get the
  healing ring.
Cross the bridge and exit east
- Go east and you'll meet A-Tur. He'll apologize for attacking you earlier
and he'll carry you into the castle.

Floor 5:
- Exit east
- Go down and walk around the room and exit north
- Use the diary to rest and save if you need and have Ershim to bump the key
  off the closet. Exit south
- Open the gate and go downstairs.

Floor 4:
- Follow the way and and go east upon the wooden road
At the end of it go north and exit north
- Exit west
- Exit west
- Ignore the stairs and head south
  Exit south
- Take the northern way east
Hop to the south at the end
Go east and exit downstairs (you may exit east for treasure)

Floor 3:
- Take the northern path west and exit north
- Go east, then north and exit north
- Go east exit north
- Go west and exit west
- Exit south
- Exit downstairs

Floor 2:
- Go south and exit east
- Go east
- Take the first route to the north
Go all the way north (left or right side doesn't matter)
  At the end go west
Don't exit but go south and exit downstairs

Floor 1:
- Exit north
- Go down the stairs and exit east
- Walk the path and the road is blocked by a monster. Awake it and kill it.

| Ryu 30 | Nina 36 | Ershin 29 | Cray 29 | Scias 28 | Ursula 30 |
+---------------------------------------------------------------------------+
| His attacks are strong, but that is actually not the problem. He's eager |
| to confuse you and use instant kill moves. So you need to beware of that |
| on top of that he has a regeneration that is so insanely high that you |
| you cannot top that in damage. However dragon breath attacks will deal |
| with that. Turn into any dragon (I used Weyr) and use its breath attack |
| for serveral turns and the regeneration will stop. Now you can start the |
| fighting. I had a lot of faeries on Troops and used War Shout on my main |
| fighting team twice. For me that worked wonders. (approx 12 faeries), of |
| course this only works wonders if you don't loose them on wither. |
| If Nina has "Resurrect" you got a trump card, since you'll need it. |
+---------------------------------------------------------------------------+
After the fight you can take the blue charm. It's a bonus item with which
you can open doors to secret items. Nothing is noteworthy though.
You can exit north to rest and save. The east exit will lead you further in
  the dungeon.
- Take the elevator on the right (south) and go to floor B1

Floor B1:
- Exit west
- Go down the stairs to the west until the road is blocked
Go south, around the stairs and cross the bridge
  Exit downstairs

Floor B2:
- Follow the corridor and exit north
- = Go down the ladder
  = Go north
= Go through the gateway west
= Go up the ladder here
= Exit up the next ladder
- Exit south
- use the switch and exit downstairs

Floor B3:
- Exit north
- Take the yellow charm,
Now go all the way back to the elevator. (which is now on floor B1)
and use it to go to floor 1
(For that you must lower the bridge you can under).

Floor 1:
- I recommend to go to the diary room to rest and save. You probanbly need it.
From the diary room exit south
- Exit south
- Go down the stairs and open the sealed door.
Enter the room to find Ryu's best armor (Dragon Armor).
- Go back to the elevators
- Use the elevator to go to floor B1

Floor B1:
- Exit west
- Go all the way west and thanks to the yellow charm you can remove the
  barrier.
- Exit downstairs

Floor B2:
- Follor the corridor and exit north (Downstairs) at the end

Floor B3:
- = Go west and go around the room
= At the northside go down the stairs
  = Go west
  = Exit south
- Take the red charm
There's a short way to the next floor, but I recomend against it.
Just make your way back to the elevator on B1 and go to floor 1.

Floor 1:
- Exit west
- Exit north
- Rest and save and exit east
- Exit downstairs

Floor B1:
- Remove the seal from the red charm door and exit north
- Open the chest to obtain the dragon's blade. Ryu's best weapon
  Exit south
- Exit east

Floor 1:
- Exit west upstairs
- Rest and save if you need and exit south
- Exit east
- Take the elevator to floor B3

Floor B3:
- Exit west
- Remove the red seal and use the elevator to go down

Floor B4:
- Exit north
- Here's your last possibility to rest and save your game.
When you done that exit south
- Go downstairs to the west and keep going downstairs when all the way
down exit north to walk into the grand finale.

+---------------------------------------------------------------------------+

| Ryu 33 | Nina 39 | Ershin 32 | Cray 33 | Scias 32 | Ursula 33 |
+---------------------------------------------------------------------------+
- First of all open the chest to the south, if you weren't foolish enough
to open it with Fou-Lu it'll contain Moon Tears. You may need those.
  Exit north
- The big moment has arrived. You'll meet Fou-Lu at last. Don't worry about
the fact that he zaps down you party members. They are still alive.
  Walk towards Fou-Lu
Fou-Lu will talk to you and disappear after the talk.
After that you party members will awake and join you again.
  Exit north
- Step on the elevator
- Go east and the grand finale will truely begin.
Fou-Lu will talk to you. After the talk you'll have to fight him.
_______
| Boss \
|---------------------------------------------------------------------------+
| Fou-Lu | aka Come to your senses, man! |
+---------------------------------------------------------------------------+
| Difficulty: Matter of survival |
+---------------------------------------------------------------------------+
| Experience: - | Cash: - |

| Ryu 33 |
+---------------------------------------------------------------------------+
| Every turn Fou-Lu will attack you and say something. All you got to do is |
| to guard, and heal if you're critically low on HP. When Fou-Lu says: |
| "Should ye fall, who then shall protect the ones behind thee", it's time |
| to take action. Make sure Ryu is at full HP then. Fou-Lu will cast the |
| spell Whiteout. Only when you are at full HP you can survive that spell. |
| When you survive that spell the battle will end |
+---------------------------------------------------------------------------+
Now Fou-Lu will explain his point of view of the world and his people and
ask your opinion about it. When you're answers are "Maybe So" and "I don't
know", then answer them all with "I don't know".

Finally you get the two answers "I don't know" and "You're WRONG!".
When you answer "I don't know" you'll get under Fou-Lu's power turn into
a superdragon, and then you'll have to fight your party members. If you
say "You're wrong" then ending #2 will take place

Ending #1:
This is what happens when you answer "I don't know" to Fou-Lu's final question.
(It may be possible that the game still makes you go to Ending #2 though).

| You can also do the harder method. The actions of your party members will |
| be the same as you had at your disposal. |
+---------------------------------------------------------------------------+
After this fight the game is over, and you've had one way of completing the
game.

Ending #2:
_______
| Boss \
|---------------------------------------------------------------------------+
| Tyrant | aka I suck |
+---------------------------------------------------------------------------+
| Difficulty: Very Extremely Hard |
+---------------------------------------------------------------------------+
| Experience: - | Cash: - |
+---------------------------------------------------------------------------+
| Ryu 33 | Nina 39 | Ershin 32 | Cray 33 | Scias 32 | Ursula 33 |
+---------------------------------------------------------------------------+
| Tyrant will always open the fight with "Dark Wave" which will hurt you |
| very big deal. But the more HP it loses the weaker "Dark Wave" will |
| become. For the rest will Tyrant go crazy with the moves Pa Bing'ah, |
| Ar'yu P'ung and Patoh P'ah. Not to mention that his physical attacks are |
| murder. I strongly recommend not to use Ryu in this fight as he won't |
| survive the Pa Bing'ah move. Powering up is senseless since it'll all be |
| dispelled. Also prepare for nasty status changes and regular attacks are |
| useless. It won't do enough damage. That sums all bad stuff up I suppse. |
| The true weak spot however is fire. Casting Inferno like crazy will help |
| a lot (especially when comboed). Be sure that Nina has "Resurrect" as the |
| chance is great you are gonna need it (she learns it when she reaches |
| level 36). Be also sure you have a lot of Wisdom Seeds and Wisdom Fruits |
| Since magic is the way to beat him, I guess it's pretty clear that you |
| run out of AP quickly. Especially since Tyrant has insanely much HP. |
| Make sure that nobody is studying under Momo or you'll pay the ultimate |
| price. I recommend to let Ursula, Nina and Ryu have Rwolf and the others |
| to have Kahn. |
+---------------------------------------------------------------------------+
_______
| Boss \
|---------------------------------------------------------------------------+
| Astral | aka I'm your wrost nightmare. |
+---------------------------------------------------------------------------+
| Difficulty: Very Extremely Insanely Fucking Hard |
+---------------------------------------------------------------------------+
| Experience: - | Cash: - |
+---------------------------------------------------------------------------+
| Ryu 33 | Nina 39 | Ershin 32 | Cray 33 | Scias 32 | Ursula 33 |
+---------------------------------------------------------------------------+
| If you thought that Tyrant was a pain in the ass, then lemme tell you |
| that Astral is even worse. As you may expect from the final boss, he's by |
| far the hardest boss in the game. His ammount of HP are not really high |
| so that means you can kill him realitively quick. But his moves are plain |
| murder and very hard to survive. Not only does he have all the dragon |
| combo moves at his disposal, he has the very annoying move Soul Rend |
| which reduces everybody to 1 HP and it never misses. Astral always uses |
| that one to open the fight. Casting Holy Circle in the first round can at |
| least save you from that, once. After that you'll will have to put |
| everything to everything to survive. Nearly all moves will end with all |
| party members in a bad condition, so Nina will be needed to heal like |
| crazy. Physical attacks are once again useless. Astral too will have to |
| to be defeated with Inferno spells. So I hope you stocked up a lot of |
| Wisdom seeds and Wisdom Fruits to replenish your AP if needed. |
| If you want use dragons. Weyr is the best chose and go crazy with Hwajeh. |
| Be aware that nothing can heal dragon forms so that when Soul Rend comes |
| Your dragon form may soon be dead. Kaiser can be an alternative, but it |
| costs a lot of AP to use that. But Kaiser has the same problem when it |
| comes to Soul Rend. And if you are to use Kaiser, make sure you got |
| control over it. Hwajeh works better than Kaiserbreath, y'know. If both |
| Kaiser and Weyr are out of HP use an Ambrosia and you can try it again. |
+---------------------------------------------------------------------------+
After the fight you'll win the game. Watch what all happens. After that
you can save the game for a "Clear Save". Not that you can do much with that.
Nothing noteworthy. Just fight Fou-Lu again. But there are a few extra's.

You can go to the abandoned village (remember where Rasso slaughtered the
people of Check). Three you will meet a guy who can make the final trade so
that you can get Marlok's final move. You can also meet Rei and Teepo there.
Remember, from Breath Of Fire III.

If you talk to Teepo you'll get a useless sword, however if you can manage
to make 10000 kills with it it'll transform into the ultimate weapon of the
game. Like you needed that.

Rei will have a shop of things he.... er.... found ;)
He'll sell things you cannot buy elsewhere.

It's not really noteworthy, but the completeness of my FAQ required me to
put it in here ;)

When you reach sarai there's a guy in the tavern who sells a treasure for
158 zenny. That treasure would be a lead ball.

Then the game begins. Seek out people all over the world who want to trade it
with you. Each time you trade you get a better version of the treasure that
you have. Aways a better version. Never a worse. Some people think that you
can make "wrong trades" in which the value of your treasure decreases. That
is a lie. You always get the same deal. One version better than the treasure
you have.

What good do this trades do?
You can get master Marlok with it. His "Greed" will is handy and he has a
he has a few handy moves. And what he teaches depends on how many trades
you've done (see masters).

Here are the ball you can gather
 1. Lead Ball
 2. Bronze Ball
 3. Iron Ball
 4. Brass Ball
 5. Tin Ball
 6. Copper Ball
 7. Silver Ball
 8. Electrum Ball
 9. Gold Ball
10. Platinum Ball

Here are the people you can trade with
- A guy hidden under the higher platform in Shyde
- A guy in a hut at the end of the Shrine
- A prisoner in the dungeons under castle Wyndia
- When you reach the place where your Sandflier crashed in chapter 3 or 4
three are two guys at it. One of them will trade.
- Little girl beside sister Lyta in the orphanage of Synesta (Chapter 3 & 4)
- In Shikk. Go past the manillo with the playing child around him.
Go down and enter the building. Go downstairs here, and the guy you can
  trade with is here.
- Fu Shuman (the trader in Chiqua) will trade after you brought him one of
  the items he asks for.
- Once Ryu reaches Sonne a woman here will trade.
- When you loaded a "Clear Save" a guy will be at the abandoned village.
  You can trade with him.

There are a lot of mini games. You gotta play them in order to proceed in
the game, but you can earn points pending on how well you play.
These points do have value, because for every 10,000 points total mini game
points you can upgrade one of your dragon forms. Once you got enough points
transforming into that dragon will upgrade it (in which I advise to go to
upgrade the Wyvern into Weyr first). Ryu's dragon forms are equivalent to
Fou-Lu's and Fou-Lu's equivalent will also upgrade once Ryu upgrades a dragon.

So don't just go for completing the task. Try to get as much points as well.

Explanation of the fields on minigames
Difficulty: How hard is the task to do
Fun: Fun Factor. How well did I enjoy this minigame.
            (You may disagree with it)
Replay: Can you play this game again after completion (for extra points)
Score: Can you get a lot of points with this?

What I must note too. Always try to get the most points out on the moment you
are required to take on the game for the quest. If you come back for points
later the scores you'll get are divided by 10.

work this out.

(You might need to turn the camera serveral times to see them)
1. In the main room of the orphanage playing with a toy.
(The girl walking around here hates hide-and-seek so she doesn't count)
2. Under the wall gate directly outside the orphanage
3. Under the main city gate
4. At the upper floor of the inn
5. From the inn go on the stairs and go south then around the corner and
then down the stairs. The kid is hiding on these stairs
6. If you walk over the bridge (with North in the upper left of your screen)
from the position of kid #5, you might see him when you're on the other
   side.
You won't find Chino, since he hid inside a dungeon.

Simply running after him will make no sense. He'll always be out of reach.
Therefore you must come up with a good strategy. For that you must put Cray
in the lead. With him pushing barrels you can limit his places to go. Best is
before you ignite the mini-game to push the barrels.
= When you enter go North, and push the barrel north once
= Go east and push the barrel behind the thief north twice (don't come too
  close to the thief)
= Push it west 3x
= Push it north once
= Push it west 4x
= Puth it north 4x
= Push it beside the other barrel
= Now go all the way east
= At the end go south
= Push the barrel here north 11x
= Push it west 14x
= Now go all the way east
= Go south all the way at the end
= Go west here and walk up the thief now
= He may go straight into the trap you set up for him follow him and he's

The rules are easy. Pick up the crates with the crane and place them on the
spots on the sandflier. If you place them on the marked spots you get bonus
points. The trick is to control your nerves and to ignore the timer. The
crates will rock under the crane. Give it a wait to pinpoint your exact
position so you can put it down more precisely. But don't wait too long cause

You can steer with the directional button. Going straight is easy, but if
you can get all the money bags you can get extra points. Especially the big
bag scores good. But steering is tricky as the raft needs time to respond to
your actions. So time things right. Every time you hit something that isn't
a money bag your raft gets damaged. If you damage it too much you mess up
and have to start over.

This mini game just plain sucks and prepare for a lot of frustration.
The trick is to lure him close to you and then jump on his head, as quickly
as possible get behind him and bump him off. That's the trick. In reality
it doesn't work that easy, but the base idea is still the same. If he bumps
you off. No prob. You'll get back on the mast (handy when a girl can fly, eh)
But no strategy is waterproof. Luck is the deciding factor here.
And don't even bother going for gamepoints. This game is frustrating enough

The chickens will run away from you in a straight route, so chasing them into

the game is over and all extra chickens you caught will give you extra points.
If you come back later to replay the game the chickens are replaced by

| | you to handle unless you are insanely high in level |
+---------------------+-----------------------------------------------------+
| Egg Gang | Very annoying. They turn you into eggs so you |
| | cannot harm them. They they'll finish you off. |
| | Be alert. |
+---------------------+-----------------------------------------------------+
| Eye Goo | Easiest enemy in the game. Just kill it. |
+---------------------+-----------------------------------------------------+
| Fiend | Can deal critical hits, and use an instant kill |
| | spell |
+---------------------+-----------------------------------------------------+
| Fire Ant | Uses fire magic. When there's a Tar Baby with them |
| | the Tar Baby will use Douse so you get weak to Fire |
+---------------------+-----------------------------------------------------+
| Fire Wing | Despite its name the best way to get rid of them is |
| | to use the gigaflare combo. |
+---------------------+-----------------------------------------------------+
| Firewyd | Uses strong fire attacks. When with Wyd it will use |
| | fireblast to turn them into Firewyds as well. When |
| | touched by ice the fire in them will go out and |
| | they'll become normal Wyds. Weaker but less EXP |
+---------------------+-----------------------------------------------------+
| Flue Goo | Not strong, but uses Giant Growth to attack you all |
| | at once. |
+---------------------+-----------------------------------------------------+
| Fragrans | Uses Dream Breath. Whatever it does, I don't know |
+---------------------+-----------------------------------------------------+
| Fungoid | Tries to confuse you. Weak to fire |
+---------------------+-----------------------------------------------------+
| Guardian | Will first do a normal attack, then a double blow |
| | and then a tripple blow. Heavy defense, but it will |
| | crack after a few attacks. |
+---------------------+-----------------------------------------------------+
| Gasser | Will poison itself before attacking you |
+---------------------+-----------------------------------------------------+
| Gecko | Strong and their "Cleave" is really annoying. When |
| | they are weak (or when their allies are) they'll |
| | use "Vitalize" |
+---------------------+-----------------------------------------------------+
| Generator | Beware of its lightning spells. |
+---------------------+-----------------------------------------------------+
| Ghost | Will start asleep. Once they awaken they'll keep |
| | casting frost on you. |
+---------------------+-----------------------------------------------------+
| Giant Roach | Can use Jump. There's no telling how strong that |
| | move can be. It can be pathetic it can be very |
| | disasterous. Prepare for the worst. |
+---------------------+-----------------------------------------------------+
| Gold Gang | Gives you very much zenny, but only if you can kill |
| | it with spells and combos. Physical attacks will |
| | make that you don't get the zenny. They flee easily |
| | so kill them quickly. |
+---------------------+-----------------------------------------------------+
| Gonger | Does noting in the first turn. In the next turn |
| | they use timed blow which does as much damage to |
| | as the ammount of HP they got left. After that they |
| | are dead. If they are in a group, use grouptarget |
| | spells to weaken them all. |
+---------------------+-----------------------------------------------------+
| Gonghead | No Breath Of Fire without these. Nasty buggers |
| | their "Ram" is painful. Weak to wind, but you may |
| | need to save your AP when you encounter them. |
+---------------------+-----------------------------------------------------+
| Goo Count | First turn it defends and then you can hardly hurt |
| | it. Second turn you can hurt it, but it'll go crazy |
| | with frost spells. |
+---------------------+-----------------------------------------------------+
| Gulper | Has too little AP cast the dangerous spells it has |
| | but watch out. When together with Istalk |
| | they'll get the AP they need to become dangerous |
+---------------------+-----------------------------------------------------+
| Horseman | Kill the shades around him first to stop his |
| | regeneration. |
+---------------------+-----------------------------------------------------+
| Ibomb | Hard to damage their defense is insane. When HP |
| | comes below HP they'll blow themselves up reducing |
| | you to 1 HP |
+---------------------+-----------------------------------------------------+
| Icebeak | In first turn it uses watch enemy. Then it will |
| | mostly use heavy ice spells on the party member |
| | the least of HP |
+---------------------+-----------------------------------------------------+
| Istalk | Normally uses transfer to transfer AP to allies. |
| | when allies are wounded it'll use Vitalize. When |
| | alone it'll blow itself up setting you to 1 HP |
+---------------------+-----------------------------------------------------+
| Karon | Have a magic ability when when Shade. No threat |
| | though. |
+---------------------+-----------------------------------------------------+
| Kolpum | When attacked by an element he'll use that element |
| | against you in a physical attack. |
+---------------------+-----------------------------------------------------+
| Krabby | They try to put you to sleep. A few attacks will |
| | make their pincher break off. They start the fight |
| | asleep. That can come in handy. |
+---------------------+-----------------------------------------------------+
| Lavoid | Master of Fire. Not good since Fou-Lu is weak to |
| | that. Fire attacks make them stronger for more EXP |
| | but you'd better not do that if you wanna live to |
| | tell the tale. |
+---------------------+-----------------------------------------------------+
| Legion | Wise people flee when they see them coming. |
+---------------------+-----------------------------------------------------+
| Lizard Man | Uses shield to raise their defense, and they'll use |
| | Vitalize if they are hurt or when their allies are |
| | hurt. |
+---------------------+-----------------------------------------------------+
| Mandraga | Not really a threat. |
+---------------------+-----------------------------------------------------+
| Mage Goo | Be sure that Ryu copies their "Burn" spell (he can |
| | do that by guarding). |
+---------------------+-----------------------------------------------------+
| Mask | Will counter all physical attacks. Kill them with |
| | combo moves. When with Mirror get rid of the mirror |
| | get rid of the mirror first before you use combos |
+---------------------+-----------------------------------------------------+
| Mask Crab | Likes to use blind. Rather annoying actually |
+---------------------+-----------------------------------------------------+
| Mirror | Uses backlash in order to counter all spells and |
| | combos by casting the same spells on you. So DON'T |
| | USE SPELLS OR COMBOS WHEN THEY ARE AROUND |
+---------------------+-----------------------------------------------------+
| Morph | Does nothing until attacked or when allies die. |
| | will then go crazy with Flare. |
+---------------------+-----------------------------------------------------+
| Morph Goo | Casts level 2 spells in the element of their color |
| | Blue = water, Red = Fire, Black = Earth and |
| | Green = Wind. Will change color every two turns and |
| | when hit by oposing element they'll change into the |
| | color of that element. |
+---------------------+-----------------------------------------------------+
| Mouse | Likes to use snap to lower your defenses |
+---------------------+-----------------------------------------------------+
| Mud Pup | Will cast Snooze or confusion on you. After that |
| | they like to sleep themselves. |
+---------------------+-----------------------------------------------------+
| Nut Archer | Will dodge all attacks. Use "Burn" to get rid of it |
+---------------------+-----------------------------------------------------+
| Nut Mage | Will dodge all attacks. Use "Burn" to get rid of it |
+---------------------+-----------------------------------------------------+
| Nut Troop | Will dodge all attacks. Use "Burn" to get rid of it |
+---------------------+-----------------------------------------------------+
| Orochi | You can defeat them but that costs tons of AP. You |
| | can better run away. |
+---------------------+-----------------------------------------------------+
| Patrol | Pathetic attacks. And will waste some turns |
+---------------------+-----------------------------------------------------+
| Protobot | Their attacks can be pretty powerful. Watch out! |
| | will get broken by lightning |
+---------------------+-----------------------------------------------------+
| Puppeter | Controls the Decoy. Will flee without it. |
+---------------------+-----------------------------------------------------+
| Puspool | Seems impossible to beat. However if you cast Burn |
| | on it (or another fire spell) its defense will drop |
| | to zero so you can kill it easily |
+---------------------+-----------------------------------------------------+
| Quisit | Normally they try to suck your HP out or to lower |
| | your AP. When together with Beihl they'll will use |
| | gloom to make you undead so that the Beihl can |
| | finish you off with Kyrie. That's really dangerous |
+---------------------+-----------------------------------------------------+
| Rafresia | Will try to blind you |
+---------------------+-----------------------------------------------------+
| Red Cap | When with enemies listening to it, it will use |
| | Command (which I recommend to learn with Nina). |
| | when alone it will run away. |
+---------------------+-----------------------------------------------------+
| Roach | Not strong, but they can jump, and there's no |
| | telling if the damage from that will be serious or |
| | not. |
+---------------------+-----------------------------------------------------+
| Rollob | Normally uses ice spells. When with Bollor he'll |
| | use Lightning in stead. That's very dangerous. When |
| | he's with a Bollor, focus on killing Rollob first |
+---------------------+-----------------------------------------------------+
| Sandclaw | When touched by water/ice they'll cast Storm. |
+---------------------+-----------------------------------------------------+
| Saltclaw | Counterattacks easily. Their reversal is seldom |
| | used, but deadly |
+---------------------+-----------------------------------------------------+
| Saruga | Tries to silence you. When his allies are killed he |
| | gets mad, and will go crazy with Blitz. |
+---------------------+-----------------------------------------------------+
| Scavenger | Without allies to aid him it'll mostly guard. |
+---------------------+-----------------------------------------------------+
| Scorpion | Annoying because of their "Blind" move. Will escape |
| | when their HP is critically low. |
+---------------------+-----------------------------------------------------+
| Shade | Karon, Titan and Horseman |
| | creatures are powered up by their presence |
+---------------------+-----------------------------------------------------+
| Shadow | Will flee for Fou-Lu. On Ryu on company they'll try |
| | to reduce your HP to 1 with "Disembowel" and use |
| | target to finish you off. |
+---------------------+-----------------------------------------------------+
| Skullen | Unpredictable. They can use Counter to counterattack|
| | your normal attacks, they can use backlash to |
| | counter all your magics and combos. Very dangerous! |
+---------------------+-----------------------------------------------------+
| Snapfly | Master of fire, but weak to it. Don't use it on it |
| | it'll transform into a stronger form if you do that |
| | serveral times. |
| | (Stingfly) |
+---------------------+-----------------------------------------------------+
| Soldier | You only have 1 turn to get rid of him or else |
| | yell for back-up and you'll be kicked out of the |
| | castle and have to start over. Use Burn+Cyclone to |
| | create Simoon which will kill him. (I often set |
| | Scias with Shining Blade as back up, but never need |
| | it). |
+---------------------+-----------------------------------------------------+
| Smasher | Uses Ovum to transform you into eggs. That sucks |
+---------------------+-----------------------------------------------------+
| Spectre | With "depress" and "Leech Power" they decrease your |
| | AP. |
+---------------------+-----------------------------------------------------+
| Sporeon | Likes to poison you all. |
+---------------------+-----------------------------------------------------+
| Squirt | Casts ice spells on SandClaws so that it will cast |
| | Storm |
+---------------------+-----------------------------------------------------+
| Stargazer | Will use concentrate to powerup and then cast a |
| | spell at random. |
+---------------------+-----------------------------------------------------+
| Stingfly | Fast and dodges easily. very annoying |
+---------------------+-----------------------------------------------------+
| Tar Baby | Mostly tries to slow you down with Molasses. If |
| | they are together with a Fire Ant they'll use Douse |
| | so that the Fire Ants fire attacks will hurt you |
| | more. |
+---------------------+-----------------------------------------------------+
| Toxic Fly | Can try to poison you. Weak to wind |
+---------------------+-----------------------------------------------------+
| Troop | He starts this battle sleeping. Just kill him! |
+---------------------+-----------------------------------------------------+
| Trunked | Beating is almost impossible. There are more there |
| | so you can practice combo attacks. |
+---------------------+-----------------------------------------------------+
| Wyd | Pathetic. When touched with fire they will become |
| | a FireWyd which is stronger and gives more EXP |
+---------------------+-----------------------------------------------------+
| Yaen | Tries to poison you. |
+---------------------+-----------------------------------------------------+

WARNING! This part of the FAQ contains spoilers. Only read this when you've
completed the game at least once!!!

Fou-Lu is one of the best characters of the BOF series. In fact he's one of
the best characters of RPG games in general. But Fou-Lu is misunderstood.
Many people see him as an evil demon or something because they misunderstand
him. Don't know his true motivation or purpose. Some think that he's the
god of war and destruction because he founded the violent Fou Empire, but
nothing could be further from the truth.
I won't claim I know all about him since some of his actions are also beyond
my understanding, but I think I have a pretty clear vision on him, and that's
what I'm gonna tell here hoping that you too will understand him a little
better.

It all began in a world where there was nothing but war and misary. People
nearly lost all hope for a better future. Those people started to experiment
in the art of dragon summoning, hoping to summon a god/dragon who would
create a world in which it would never be war. The result was that Fou-Lu
was summoned. As we know, Fou-Lu was split in two. His other half, Ryu, did
not yet exist which made Fou-Lu unable to use the full content of his holy
powers. But even with that Fou-Lu fought a war in which he claimed lands
for creating the realm in which it would never be war. He forged those lands
and its people into an empire. That became the Fou Empire. The Empire in
which it would never be war again. Fou-Lu left his people lots of things to
live and peace and prosperity and the empire became a powerful country.
Fou-Lu exhausted himself in doing so because he was not yet complete. And
because of that he fell into a deep slumber. He prenteded to his people that
this slumber was his death and that he would resurrect centuries later in
order to fulfil the promise. The promise to the people to lead them to
property once more, and the promise from the people to live without making
war again. But Fou-Lu was fooled. Because he let his people taste power they
urged for more and since the other nations were small the Fou empire continued
to make war in order to gain even more power than Fou-Lu already gave them.
Fou-Lu also knew well that he couldn't please everybody desires, but when he
woke up at Ryu's "birth" he discovered what became of his empire. And that
brought him big disappointment. It seems that the promise between him and his
people was broken. Not only that, in stead of being grateful of creating such
a powerful empire the current emperor is afraid of loosing his power in
Fou-Lu's favor ordered Fou-Lu's death. Fou-Lu becomes because of this very
distrusting towards humans. The more Yohm and his men hunt him down the
more Fou-Lu starts to hate people. But then we can see his softer side when
he meets Mami. I think it's safe to assume that Mami is falling in love with
Fou-Lu even though she realizes that the love is impossible. But still
Fou-Lu is moved somehow by her presence and actions towards him. Even though
he can't admit it, he does appreciate what she tries to do for him. And maybe
deep inside he loved her as well. Mami plays a very important part of
Fou-Lu's story. In the end Mami was arrested by Yohm and used as a sacrifice
for the carronade, the big gun in Astana which shoots Hexes out of negative
feelings of the person it sacrifices. This was the fatal mistake the guys
of the Fou Empire could make. Because of the fact that Mami's hair bell, her
trademark, landed beside Fou-Lu when he's struck by the Hex makes him realize
what Yohm has done to her. As we Dutch people say "That was the drop that
overflowed the bucket". That is the moment that Fou-Lu goes berserk. From
that moment on he thinks that all people are evil and that they no longer
deserve to live. He simply feels himself abused and that's why he starts to
destroy all he has built. It's not really a deed of evil. Even revenge is
not the right word for it. It's rather a punishment of a God who is greatly
displeased. And after all what's happened to him, can you actually blame him?

It's not that Fou-Lu is the god of evil. He's not even the god of war.
He's the god of peace and prosperity whose powers were merely abused by those
who summoned him. Wouldn't you be mad when you were in his shoes?

AND NEVER FORGET TO TELL ME WHICH FAQ OF MINE YOU'RE TALKING ABOUT!
I get a lot of mails in which I must guess which FAQ it is we're talking
about, and since I'm very busy as a contributor for GameFAQs, and ocasionally
other sites, I have quite a lot of FAQs here. So it will help me a lot when
I know which FAQ/Game it is you're talking about. :)

And one last thing. Below are remarks I got a lot about my FAQs. Some are
funny, and some are just plainly too stupid for words. I don't want to be
an arrogant bastard or anything, but some of them tire me a lot.
So here are those mails with my standard replies:

  M: Fix your English
A: Some people say they hardly hear the diffrence between me and an
English speaking fellow. Others say it sucks. Well, I honestly don't
care in which category you are. English is NOT my first language. If
I spoke my own language you probably couldn't read my FAQs at all.

M: You suck in levelling up
A: I know. I'm a real RPG player. I don't waste my time hours of levelling
up. In my vision that's a sort of cheating. If I wanted to do that,
I'd buy a gameshark. That works a lot faster.
No offense to those who do believe in that.

M: HEY IDIOT! FIX YOUR FAQ!
A: Anyone who sends mail like this won't receive a reply. In fact they
will be banned from ever mailing me again. I can understand you do not
agree with my technique. There are as many as there are people. I can
also agree you detected that I made a mistake. Well, I'm human you know.
Making mistakes is part of my nature, as much as it's yours. If you
detect errors in my FAQ you can tell me about it in a civil way, and
I'll fix it if I agree with you.

M: I took on the bosses you brant HARD on much lower levels with no problem
     at all.
  A: Good for you.

M: Are you a man? A woman? How old are you? Where do you live?
A: I really got that kind of mails a lot. I don't mind that you know.
I was quite amused by such mails actually.
Well, my name is Jeroen Broks. I'm not going to give my private adres
in this FAQ or anywhere else on the internet, but you may know that
I live in the Netherlands, I am a man, and I was born in 1975. So on
the moment I started on this FAQ I was 31 years old.

  M: Fsdasdadasf afsdfasd afdfsaf
A: Whatever you say I don't understand it. If you mail me, please only do
so in either English or Dutch or if you really need in German. I don't
     speak any other language.

M: May I translate your FAQ into another language?
A: If you ask my permission, mostly no problem

M: Why is Neoseeker banned from hosting your FAQs?
A: That's something between me and Neoseeker. I don't find it necesary to
go into detail about that. I noted it in my FAQs to make sure they
will never pop up there unnoticed. So don't mail me about it
cause I won't answer. I got very good reasons for it. That's all you
     need to know.

M: You know NOTHING about this game or RPG in general?
A: That I know nothing about RPG in general is something you can't say.
I spend 80% of my free time in RPG (which is quite a lot, trust me),
and I even develop them myself for a hobby. And about this game,
trust me when I say that all games I wrote a FAQ about have been played
multiple times from start to finish, and after I completed the FAQ
the game is played over and over again and again, so I can upgrade
the FAQ if I find something new, to make sure my FAQs offer the best
you can get. All games I wrote FAQs about are games I'm very devoted
to. No exceptions. If I am not sure I know the game, I won't write a
     FAQ on it.

And so far this FAQ. I hope you have good use for it!
