1.) Introduction
===================

Howdy and welcome to my guide for Bookworm Deluxe. Bookworm Deluxe is a PC
game that's also a downloadable game on the internet. Simply put, you just
need to spell out words that are 3 letters long or longer. It's an addictive
little game that can be played to kill some time, or something to help you
expand your vocabulary.

3.) Game Modes
===================

Classic Mode
------------

-This game is for those that aren't quick with their eyes and can't spot words
all that quickly. You can take your time spelling out your words, not having
to worry about the burning blocks unless you need to. I prefer this mode over
the Action mode, mainly because I don't feel any pressure whatsoever.

Action Mode
-----------

-This game is for those that are looking for a little fast paced action. No
matter what, the fire blocks will burn through the letters on the screen, so
time is against you in this mode and you have to be quick in order to complete
each level. This is for the advanced players of the game.

4.) Basics
===================

Bookworm Deluxe is a rather simple game, but it can be pretty addicting once
you get into the groove of things. Here, I'll explain the basics of the game
and what you should do.

Status Screen
-------------

-On the left side of the screen, you'll find your score, the Bookworm, the
special word, and the ability to quit. If you click on the Bookwor, he'll
offer to scramble the letters on the board for you, but this makes a Fire Block
appear. If you quit your game, your progress is automatically saved.

Spelling
--------

-This is what the game is about. You'll have a board of scrambled letters.
The letters are completely random, so there's no pattern at all. You need to
search out letters to spell out words that are 3 letters or longer. For
example, let's say you have this set up:

Y Qu
GOK
TFU
FPZ

Of course, there are more letters than that on the board, but do you see the
word that you can spell out of that bunch? You can spell the word You by
highlighting the letters with your mouse, and then either double click the last
letter of the word, or click submit to submit the word for points. The longer
your word, the more points you get. However, you can only use letters that
are adjacent or diagnol to the letter you start with.

Fire Blocks
-----------

-These appear soon after you spell enough words. These blocks, if left alone,
will burn through other letters until it reaches the bottom. Once it reaches
the bottom, the game is over. Generally you'll know when a Fire Block will
burn through a letter, as the letter below the fire block is a light red
color. For example, let's say you have this:

Y L
HOT
WIU
NBN
HKB

Let's say that the W is a Fire Block. The N underneath it will be a light red
color. If you spell out the word You, the Fire Block [W] will burn through the
light red block [N], bringing it closer to the bottom faster than normal.
Once this happens, the W will rest ontop of the H block, which will become the
new light colored block. If you don't spell a word with the W Fire Block, it
will continue to plummet to the bottom as you spell words. Once it hits the
bottom, it's game over.

Bonus Words
-----------

-From time to time, you'll recieve Green Blocks that are Bonus Blocks. If you
can manage to spell a word with one of these blocks, you'll earn extra points,
depending on how long the word is. For example, let's say you have this:

B Y
JOLE
MNOY
WRVK
ETZL

You can spell out Book from that. Let's say that the B is a Bonus Block. If
you spell Book with that B, you'll earn extra points for spelling out the word.
These occur pretty frequently, so make sure to take advantage of them when you
can.

There are also some tiles that turn Yellow. They work the same exact way as
the Green Bonus Tiles, except you get more points from them.

Special Words
-------------

-As you spell out words, you may notice a new word that appears in the lower
left hand corner of the screen, right below the Bookworm. This word is a
Special Word, and if you can spell out that word, you'll earn extra bonus
points. The words may be simple to spell, but the letters that you need to
spell them are hard to find next to each other, so you need to look around the
board carefully.
