Introduction =============================================================================== This is the second in a series of eight planned adventures in the Ben Jordan: Paranormal Investigator series. The games can be downloaded for free from the developer's home page (http://www.grundislavgames.com/benjordan). In this game, Ben is called to the town of Dunesberg in California by Annie, whose husband has gone missing after he went to search the galleon. The aim is to find a way of diving down to the galleon to save George. This is a longer, more difficult game than the original, with some inventive puzzles that are fun to solve. =============================================================================== 2. Walkthrough =============================================================================== DUNESBERG The game starts in Annie's house. Talk to Annie about her husband: She says he went into the desert to look for the lost galleon. Ask about the lost galleon: According to the legend, it is a Spanish galleon buried under the Salton Sea. She says that only the old prospector in the pub and her husband George believe in the legend. Exit the conversation. Get the bowl on the table. Use the door to exit the house. Walk west behind the house to the outskirts of Dunesberg. Use the old crate to get a stick of dynamite. Walk east to return to the town. Enter the medicine man's shop. Talk to the medicine man and ask about items for sale: He will order special items if required. Get the mortar and pestle on the bottom shelf at the right side of the shop. Exit the shop. Walk right and enter the grocery store. Get an ear of corn. Exit the store. Walk right and enter the Drunken Scorpion bar. Get the box of matches at the left side of the bar. Talk to the barman about the lost galleon: He doesn't believe in the legend. Ask about George: He hasn't seen him in two weeks. Order a beer: The barman gives Ben a bottle of beer. Talk to the Jebediah, the old prospector, about the lost galleon: He wants moonshine. Ask about moonshine: He says that there is a recipe for moonshine in town, and gives Ben his dowsing stick. Exit the bar. Enter the coffeehouse. Talk to the employee and order a coffee. Get a packet of sugar from the tray and then exit the coffeehouse. Enter the big house at the left side of the town. Use the dowsing stick on the wood receptacle, then use the matches on the wood receptacle. Use the beer on the liquid receptacle to get a glob of malt. Use the stick of dynamite on the safe, then use the matches on the dynamite to explode the safe. Use the safe to get a recipe for moonshine and a packet of yeast. Look at the recipe in the inventory. Combine the ear of corn with the mortar and pestle to make the cornmeal. Combine the cornmeal, packet of sugar, glob of malt and packet of yeast with the bowl. Use the bowl on the liquid receptacle to get the home-brewed moonshine. Exit the house. Return to the bar to see that the Jebediah has left: The barman says that he has gone to Annie's house. Exit the bar and return to Annie's house. Jebediah tells Ben about the lost galleon, and says that he will need items from the medicine man before making his journey to the Salton Sea. Enter the medicine man's shop. Talk to the medicine man about the Salton Sea: He tells Ben that he needs cactus extract. Exit the shop. Enter the coffeehouse and talk to the employee about the banner: It advertises a coffee called Jitter Juice. Order Jitter Juice and Ben will drink it. Exit the coffeehouse. Enter the bar and talk to the man near the dartboard about the knife: He says he is training for the Dunesberg knife-throwing contest. Challenge him: He will let Ben have his knife if he can hit a bullseye. After Ben throws the knife and hits the bullseye because of the Jitter Juice he drank earlier, the man lets him keep the knife. Exit the bar. Walk west behind Annie's house to return to the outskirts of Dunesberg. Use the knife on the cactus to get a chunk from it. Return to the town and enter the big house. Use the chunk of cactus on the liquid receptacle to get the cactus extract. Exit the big house. Enter the medicine man's shop. Give the cactus extract to the medicine man to get an anti-venom kit and a roll of medical tape. Exit the shop. Return to Annie's house. The old prospector lets Ben borrow his car to travel to the Salton Sea. SALTON SEA Get the flower. Walk west to the next area and talk to the man about the lost galleon: Ben mentions that map on the table. Ask about the map: He says he has found the exact location of the lost galleon. Ask about the desert: He is allergic to the flowers that grow around the area. Use the metal box in front of the boat to find a damaged wetsuit. Walk west to the area with the balloon and talk to the woman about the lost galleon: She doesn't know the exact location. Ask about the balloon: The gas knob has broken. Ask about the oxygen tank: She will let Ben have the tank if Ben can find a way of inflating the balloon. Walk west to the road. Enter the souvenir shop. Get the large snowglobe on the shelf. As Ben pays for it, the clerk gives him a free souvenir pen as well. Talk to the clerk about the shop: He built the shop himself. Ask about souvenirs: He mentions the free pen with any purchase. Exit the shop and walk south to return to the balloon area. Use the knife on the snowglobe to pry the valve off: Ben is left with the makeshift helmet and the rusty valve. Give the valve to the woman to get the oxygen tank. Walk east to the next area. Combine the pen with the moonshine recipe to make the fake map. Use the flower on the man: As he sneezes, Ben will switch the fake map with the map on the table. Walk east behind the rock to the next area. Combine the medical tape, makeshift helmet and oxygen tank with the wetsuit to make the home-made diving suit. Look at the map to see the exact location of the lost galleon. Use the diving suit on the sea to dive to the lost galleon. LOST GALLEON Ben wakes up in a cell on the lost galleon, where he meets George, who is ill after being on the ship for a week. Give the anti-venom kit to George and he will recover. Ask George about the galleon: He was exploring the ship when he blacked out and woke up in the cell. Use the bottle of moonshine on the cell door, then use the matches on the moonshine to escape the cell. Go through the right door in the hall to enter the wine cellar. Get a bottle of wine. Return to the hall and go through the door on the left to enter the treasure room. Try to get a black pearl from the pile and the ghost will appear. Talk to George about the ghost: He mentions a spirit box. Ask about the spirit box: A ghost can be lured into a container by something it loved in life. Ask about the distraction: George calls the ghost over to him. While the ghost is distracted, get a black pearl. Combine the black pearl with the mortar and pestle, then combine the black pearl pieces with the bottle of wine to make the spirit box. The ghost will disappear. Try to get another black pearl and the ghost will reappear. Use the spirit box on the ghost to complete the game. =============================================================================== 3. Item List =============================================================================== ANTI-VENOM KIT Found by giving the cactus extract to the medicine man. It is given to George on the lost galleon. BLACK PEARL Found in the treasure room on the lost galleon after George has been asked to distract the ghost. It is combined with the mortar and pestle to get the black pearl pieces. BLACK PEARL PIECES Made by combining the black pearl with the mortar and pestle. They are combined with the bottle of wine to make the spirit box. BOTTLE OF BEER Found by ordering a beer from the barman in the Drunken Scorpion bar. After the dowsing stick and the box of matches have been used on the wood receptacle of the still in the big house, the bottle of beer is used on the liquid receptacle on the still to get the glob of malt. BOTTLE OF WINE Found in the wine cellar on the lost galleon. The black pearl pieces are combined with the bottle of wine to make the spirit box. BOTTLE OF HOME-BREWED MOONSHINE After the cornmeal, packet of sugar, glob of malt and packet of yeast has been combined with the bowl, the bowl is used in the liquid receptacle of the still in the big house to make the home-brewed moonshine. It is used on the cell door in the lost galleon. BOWL Found on the table in Annie's house. The cornmeal, packet of sugar, glob of malt and packet of yeast are combined with the bowl. The bowl is then used in the liquid receptacle on the still in the big house to make the home-brewed moonshine. BOX OF MATCHES Found in the Drunken Scorpion bar. After the dowsing stick has been used on the wood receptacle of the still in the big house, the box of matches are used on the wood receptacle. After the dynamite has been used on the safe in the big house in Dunesberg, the box of matches are used on the dynamite. After the bottle of home-brewed moonshine has been used on the cell door on the lost galleon, the box of matches are used on the bottle. CACTUS CHUNK Found by using the knife on the cactus at the outskirts of Dunesberg. It is used in the liquid receptacle on the still in the old house to get the cactus extract. CACTUS EXTRACT Found by using the cactus chunk in the liquid receptacle on the still in the old house. It is given to the medicine man. CORN Found in the grocery store. It is combined with the mortar and pestle to make the cornmeal. CORNMEAL Made by combining the corn with the mortar and pestle. It is combined with the bowl to add one of the ingredients needed for the home-brewed moonshine. CUP OF COFFEE Found by ordering a cup of coffee from the clerk in the coffeehouse. It is not used. DAMAGED WETSUIT Found in the metal box in front of the boat at the Salton Sea. The medical tape is combined with the damaged wetsuit to make the wetsuit. DIVING SUIT Made by combining the makeshift helmet and oxygen tank with the wetsuit. It is used on the sea so that Ben can dive down to the lost galleon. DOWSING STICK Found by asking Jebediah about moonshine in the Drunken Scorpion bar. It is used on the wood receptacle of the still in the big house. DYNAMITE Found in the crate on the outskirts of Dunesberg. It is used on the safe in the big house in Dunesberg. FAKE MAP Made by combining the pen with the moonshine recipe. After the flower has been used on the man near the table at the Salton Sea, Ben will switch the two maps. FLOWER Found in the area with Jebediah's car at the Salton Sea. After making the fake map, the flower is used on the man near the table at the Salton Sea to get the real map. GLOB OF MALT After the dowsing stick and the box of matches have been used on the wood receptacle of the still in the big house, the bottle of beer is used on the liquid receptacle to get the glob of malt. It is combined with the bowl to add one of the ingredients needed for the home-brewed moonshine. KNIFE After Ben has drunk the Jitter Juice from the coffeehouse, the knife is found by challenging the knife-thrower in the bar. It is used on the cactus at the outskirts of Dunesberg. It is combined with the snowglobe to get the valve. MAKESHIFT HELMET Made by combining the knife with the snowglobe. It is one of the items that is combined with the wetsuit to make the diving suit. MEDICAL TAPE Found by giving the cactus extract to the medicine man. It is combined with the damaged wetsuit to make the wetsuit. MONEY Available at the start of the game. It is used to buy the mortar and pestle from the medicine man's shop, the ear of corn from the grocery store, the beer from the Drunken Scorpion bar, the coffee from the coffeehouse and the large snowglobe from the Salton Sea souvenir shop. MOONSHINE RECIPE Found in the safe in the big house in Dunesberg. It has to be looked at in the inventory before the home-made moonshine can be made. The pen is combined with the moonshine recipe to make the fake map. MORTAR AND PESTLE Found on the shelf in the medicine man's shop. The corn is combined with the mortar and pestle to make the cornmeal. The black pearl is combined with the mortar and pestle to make the black pearl pieces. OXYGEN TANK Found by giving the valve to the woman near the balloon. It is one of the items that is combined with the wetsuit to make the diving suit. PACKET OF SUGAR Found in the tray in the coffeehouse. The packet of sugar can only be taken after Ben has ordered the cup of coffee. It is combined with the bowl to add one of the ingredients needed for the home-brewed moonshine. PACKET OF YEAST Found in the safe in the big house in Dunesberg. It is combined with the bowl to add one of the ingredients needed for the home-brewed moonshine. PEN The Salton Sea souvenir clerk gives the pen to Ben when he buys the snowglobe from the shop. It is combined with the moonshine recipe to make the fake map. REAL MAP After making the fake map, the flower can be used on the man near the table at the Salton Sea to get the real map. It is looked at to find the location of the lost galleon. SNOWGLOBE Found in the Salton Sea souvenir shop. The knife is combined with the snowglobe to get the valve. SPIRIT BOX Made by combining the black pearl pieces with the bottle of wine. It is used on the ghost in the treasure room on the lost galleon. VALVE Made by combining the knife with the snowglobe. It is given to the woman in the area with the balloon to get the oxygen tank. WETSUIT Made by combining the medical tape with the damaged wetsuit.
