Sheltered 2, Tips Strategy

Below is a collection of hints and tips that will help you to progress in the game.

Follow the Tutorial

It is recommended that you first spend time going through the tutorial, as doing so will explain all the basic things you need to know that will help you to progress through the game. The tutorial will cover things like meeting the needs of your survivors, how to create an expedition, and how to build new items for your shelter.

Repair Everything

It is essential that you keep on top of the repairs that need to be done at your shelter to avoid the risk of things breaking, which can lead to major problems later on in the game. Make sure you prevent this happening by having survivors busy repairing everything at your shelter between bouts of crafting and gardening on the surface.

Prevent Poisoning and Infections

It is important that don't let your shelter become grimy, as the dirt that builds up will increase the likelihood of your survivors contracting food poisoning and infections, which is something you want to avoid happening as it will hinder your progress through the game. To prevent this happening, always keep survivors occupied cleaning when you have an expedition on the go.

How to Build a Shower

It is crucial that you prioritize building a shower for your shelter, as doing so will helps to prevent infections and diseases by keeping your survivors clean. Once you have built your shower, you need to set your survivors to take them automatically, so they never become too unclean. Another benefit of building a shower is that it will increase the mood of your survivors.

The tutorial however does not tell you how to put together a shower in Sheltered 2, this is something you are left to figure out yourself and will require items that you will not have access to at the very start of your playthough. To build a shower requires 4 Pipes, 6 Wood, 1 Valve, and 2 Wool. Most of these items you will be able to find by scavenging and trading in the world. Pipes are crafted using recycled metal objects and using the metal shavings you get as a result. The valve is crafted with one Pipe and 1 Rubber. The Shower itself is crafted by selecting a survivor and then finding the shower in the 'Build' menu in the workbench. This will allow you to build the shower wherever you want to place it inside your shelter.

Always Send Out Expeditions

Make sure you are always sending out survivors on expeditions, as soon as a survivor returns from one be sure to use the radio to send out another survivor on an expedition straight away. It is essential that you continually do this, as these expeditions will enable you to keep a constant supply of new resources coming into your shelter. Another benefit of sending out expeditions is they will enable you to meet other factions and strangers which you can trade with.

How to Cure Food Poisoning

It is inevitable that at some point a survivor will contract food poisoning. You will know when this has happened because they will be walking hunched over and are constantly throwing up. This is something you need to cure straight away as a survivor that has food poisoning will drink much more water than they usually would which costs you precious resources and more importantly it puts all your other survivors at risk as it makes the shelter a lot less hygienic.

In order to instantly cure a survivor of food poisoning in Shelter 2 you need to right-click on the medicine cabinet and select the Antiemetic, a pink pill that relieves the feeling of nausea. You can prevent food poisoning happening by having your survivors cook their own meals and regularly cleaning your shelter to keep it from getting dirty.

How to Contact Other Factions

In Sheltered 2 there are 6 factions you can contact and the way they act towards you will depend on your actions. These factions can be allies, enemies, trade partners, or a combination of all three. Factions are met out in the world while you are out on an expedition. To begin with, the encounter will likely be peaceful, with the faction sending a representative to meet you if you cross into its territory on the world map. They will make it clear that you need to either leave or fight. Return to your shelter and try and contact the faction by selecting the option to do so by radio. This will bring up a list of the available factions, and you will be able to select the one you want to speak with, which will give you more options to choose from. You will find that most factions will need you to raise your reputation with them before they become allies with you. You will be able to do this by picking up jobs and offering services.
