||========================||
|| 1. THE STORY SO FAR... ||
||========================||

Great, now I need to show off my bad story telling skills now, do I? Oh well.
Just don't say I didn't warn you. (And you might have to suffer a second time
later on when I try and explain the story throughout this game better,
because it isn't explained very well in the DS version of this game and you
may be left stuck in some places wondering what's going on!)

Anyway...

A long time ago, there were prophecies about a very special purple dragon- a
type of dragon only born once every ten generations. Unfortunately the Dark
Master heard the prophecies as well. He sent the Dark Armies to smash the
eggs hidden safe in the grotto.

The master of fire, Ignitus, managed to save Spyro's egg by letting it drift
down the Silver River to a family of dragonflies who looked after him. Then
Ignitus returned to the grotto, only to find that every egg except for one
had been smashed by the Dark Armies. The egg that was not smashed was
corrupted by the Dark Master.

Several years later, Spyro was playing a game with a dragonfly named Sparx.
Spyro had lived with dragonflies for so long he thought he was a dragonfly
too. However, that day soldiers trapped Sparx and in fury, Spyro started
breathing fire! Sparx and Spyro's parents came and told Spyro that they knew
this day will come because Spyro is a dragon and not a dragonfly. Spyro then
tries to unlock his destiny and Sparx came with him.

Spyro explored the swamp in which he lived and found the entrance to the
Dragon Temple. He met Ignitus there, who told Spyro about the prophecy.
Ignitus takes Spyro into the Dragon Temple, where they were attacked by some
more soldiers. Spyro manages to fight them all off. After that Ignitus showed
Spyro five islands that were put under control of a mysterious black dragon
named Cynder. Ignitus then taught Spyro a few more ways of fighting and then
sent him off to find all of the other dragons.

Spyro discovered that the other dragons had been used as a sort of battery
to power a portal in a mysterious place called Convexity. When this portal is
powered, the Dark Master could be released and wreak havoc all over the
dragon worlds.

Spyro arrived in Convexity and fought all of Cynder's forces there. Once he
got to the portal, he saw in dismay that he was too late- Cynder was
inserting the final crystal! Spyro fought Cynder once more. Once Cynder was
very weak, Spyro unleashed the purple Fury attack! Cynder was weakened and
returned to her proper form- as a small dragon just like Spyro. Spyro was
amazed, but this was no time to express his shock! The purple Fury attack
caused the portal to open up and Convexity began to explode. Spyro managed to
stop Cynder from being sucked into the portal and escaped!

When Spyro and Cynder arrived at the Dragon Temple, Spyro told Cynder that he
was having some bad feelings. After that he began having nightmares of
dangers to come. Spyro was sent to find the Chronicler to find out more about
his nightmares.

||=================||
|| 2. THE ELEMENTS ||
||=================||

There are four elements: Fire, Earth, Lightning and Ice. Each of these works
in different ways. For each element there is a normal breath attack and a
Fury attack. Here's the lowdown on what they do:

~Breath Attacks~

Fire- Fire doesn't use that much breath energy, but can be rather weak.
Earth- Earth uses more breath energy than Fire, does a lot less damage than
Fire but can knock enemies back.
Lightning- Lightning uses a lot of breath energy but it's really powerful and
can form "clouds," stunning enemies and dealing damage.
Ice- Ice uses about as much breath energy as Earth. It's about as powerful
as Fire and forces fury gems to break out of them immediately.

~Fury Attacks~

Fire- Fire Fury makes your attacks stronger.
Earth- Earth Fury makes you invincible.
Lightning- Lightning Fury makes you faster.
Ice- Ice Fury restores your health.

|| 3. CONTROLS AND TIPS ||
||======================||

*-------------------*
| 3.1. The Controls |
*-------------------*

The controls have changed since The Legend of Spyro: A New Beginning. Not too
much though.

Move: D-pad
Jump: B
Melee: Y
Dodge/roll: X
Breath: A
Pause: Start/Select
Change breath: L
Look around: R and D-pad
Reset camera: R
Double jump: B, B (quickly)
Glide: B, Hold B or Just hold B
Fury: Purple icon on the bottom right of the screen

*-----------*
| 3.2. Tips |
*-----------*

1. Earth Breath comes in handy when you're surrounded! It's got a good range
and it knocks back enemies making this one super handy.
2. You can do a sort of jump attack (B then Y) but since it's so slow I
   highly recommend that you don't.
3. If you don't want to fight a particular enemy (and it's not one that you
have to fight to proceed) then you can flee. Rolling is faster than
walking so hold that X button and roll away!
4. As soon as possible, upgrade those attacks of yours! You never know how
   helpful they can be.
5. To open a crystal puzzle box, tap it with your stylus. Just thought I'd
clear that up since I get several e-mails about it.
6. The types of gems you can get are: Red (fills health bar), Purple (fills
fury bar) and Blue (gives you "spirit" used to upgrade attacks).

||================||
|| 4. WALKTHROUGH ||
||================||

Alrightio, so here's the walkthrough!

*----------------*
| 4.1. Nightmare |
*----------------*

When you start the game, you will get to see a cutscene. You can press the
Start button to skip it if you want to.

Next you'll start the game and Spyro will be in another one of his
nightmares. Spyro will groan about it being another nighmare and then you get
to start playing!

~4.1.1- Part 1~

Break the mushrooms if you want to (if you do you'll be told about the gems
that you pick up) then walk forward and you'll be told how to jump. Jump onto
the step and then you'll be told how to double jump. If you want to collect
the purple gems even though you probably won't need them. Continue on and
you'll be told how to glide. Go up the steps, bash the mushrooms if you want
to and then collect the blue gems at the top. Glide onto the platform nearby
then glide off it, collecting the blue gems on the way down. Then you'll see
a monster and you'll be told how to use melee and breath attacks. You also
get a tiny bit of information about your fire breath.

While you're down there bash the mushrooms if you feel like it and then go
battle the enemy. How you battle him is up to you. Some people (like me) just
like mashing the Y button over and over again, some like to do a quick flame
and then finish off with melee attacks and others have a different strategy.
You might knock an enemy into the air, if you do you'll be told how to do an
Air Juggle.

Continue on across the bridge and you'll be shown another enemy (the same one
as before). Finish him off, it shouldn't be too hard. You might notice
another enemy appearing. Don't worry, they only respawn a couple of times and
then disappear forever. You can fight the other enemies as they appear if you
want to get some more blue gems.

As you pass the reflection puzzle box you'll be told how to start it. Tap the
reflection puzzle with your stylus (may take a few tries, try standing in
different positions). This is basically a tutorial puzzle but I will show you
how to do it nevertheless. My ASCII art is kinda bad so bear with me.

~Crystal Puzzle: Fire 1~

KEY: O : Beam, \| and |\: Right Angled Mirror, {} : Power Crystal,

    _

The massive rock will then break so you can continue across the bridge,
picking up the red gems along the way. Then you'll get to the end of the
level.

~4.1.2- Part 2~

You will be told that some puzzles have missing pieces and then you'll get
shown where the pieces are. After that you get to start the level.

Walk forward a bit and then go to the left. There are some more mushrooms
here. Alright, I'll stop telling you that you can bash them if you want. I
think you should know that by now.

Continue past the well, fight the enemy (you can use a fire fury if you want
first, this boosts the damage you deal). Grab the puzzle piece and fight the
respawning enemy if you want the blue gems (if not just roll away).

Go back and walk around the corner of the small building (so you're turning
to your left). If you want to fight the enemy and all those that respawn be
my guest, if not keep reading.

Jump onto the barrels next to the wall. There should be another platform
jutting out of a wall that you can glide to. Glide there and collect the red
gems and the puzzle piece. Look around and you should find a stack of barrels
with blue gems above it. Glide there and grab the blue gems.

Do you see the wall that makes a kind of ramp near that little circle
platform? Go onto the ramp and walk up it, collecting the red gems along the
way. Once you've reached the top of the ramp you should see some blue gems in
the air in front of you. Glide forward and collect those gems!

You should be on a staircase with some swords and shields on one wall. You
can climb down and break mushrooms or climb up. If you want to you can climb
down but you're going to have to climb up later anyway.

Climb up the staircase and once you're at the top, follow the path. You will
come to a little platform with some mushrooms. Walk around the platform until
you see the path to another puzzle piece. Grab that last puzzle piece and
jump onto the wall. Break the mushrooms if you feel like it, then jump off
the wall. Go back to the place where the ramp was but continue forward. You
will have to fight (or flee from) another enemy. Behind the enemy is a
crystal puzzle. Time for some crystal action!

~Crystal Puzzle: Fire 2~

KEY: O : Beam, /|, |/, \|: Right Angled Mirror, {} : Power Crystal,
     --- : Beam Path, []: Blocks

      |/--------------\|

       | [] |
       | [] |
O------/| [][][][][] {}

Once you're done, keep walking forward and you've finished the level! Yay.
Well, the nightmare's over, but the game's only just started.

*--------------------*
| 4.2. Dragon Temple |
*--------------------*

Spyro has now awoken from his nightmare. Sparx is happy that the "evil-psycho-
she-dragon" is gone and she's gone out into the garden. Spyro wants to find
her to keep her safe. Sparx then reminds Spyro that Ignitus said he should
wait until Spyro's powers return. (You will notice that you no longer have
access to your powers of flame and fury.) Spyro decides to rescue Cynder
anyway.

~4.2.1- Part 1~

Go behind you and break a couple of jars in hope of finding blue gems if
you wish. Then go forward. There is a little room up ahead. You can go in it
if you want to get blue gems from fighting leeches (they can be taken down in
two hits... I'm not joking!). If you could use your fire fury they'd be
one-shottable. Unfortunately you don't, so you're going to have to beat them
up the hard(er) way. Exit the room if you went in it and then continue up,
collecting the purple gems on the way. Once you get to a little platform, go
right to find a jar to break. Then jump on the blue platform and from there
glide into the next room where you'll be instructed how to break out of
battle mode (this isn't very useful information).

Anyway go into the room. More leeches. Yayyyyyyyy. You'll notice that you can
also break the piles of books too, not that it'll really help. Go to the very
right side of the room and you should see a small corridor. Walk through it
and you should come to a room with a dragon scale. Grab it and you'll be told
that dragon scales increase your max health. This can be quite useful. No,
wait, this WILL be useful.

Go back to the main room and you will see two ramps. Go up the right ramp and
collect the red gems. Walk into the main area if you want to battle more
leeches for the spirit gems. Once you're done jump up the bookcases at the
top of the ramp you just went up. You will be told how to look around and how
to reset the camera. Glide across and grab those blue gems then jump up some
more bookcases. At the top you might want to look around to find the blue
platforms you need to jump to. Once you've found them, glide across them and
grab the blue gems at the end of it. Walk forward off the ledge to break a
jar and battle a leech. Next jump on the blue platform and glide across to
the exit.

~4.2.2- Part 2~

This bit is quite straightforward really. Some leeches will come towards you
so fight 'em off. Go to the left to break some jars, or go to the right to
break more jars, collect the spirit gems at the top of the pot thingymabob
and fight off some leeches. Once you've done that, go back to the center of
the platform and jump on the platform in the water, then the platform on the
other side. Fight off some leeches and if you see a firefly, jump over it.
Don't touch it or try to attack it or it'll blow up on you! However it'll
explode on its own and you'll get those gems.

You'll notice that on the left side of that platform there's a wall that
makes a sort of staircase. Go up the "stairs" and once you get to the top
you can glide to the trees on the first platform and grab some blue gems.
Then you can glide back.

Anyway once you're done breaking jars and stuff on that platform go to the
left side and start jumping across the lily pads. You'll reach a small
platform and then you'll have to jump across another lily pad to where the
exit is.

There's also another platform you can glide to from there, to fight some more
enemies to grab more spirit gems. Once you're done you can exit the area.

~4.2.3- Part 3~

This is the area where Cynder is in. As soon as you start a rolling rock (on
The Legend of Spyro: A New Beginning it's called an armadillo so I'll refer
to it as an armadillo from now on, no matter how crazy that might sound) will
roll towards you. I must warn you I find these critters difficult to kill. As
far as I know one of the only ways to get rid of them is to dodge them then
whack them when they're dizzy. Or just don't try to kill them at all.

There are some mushrooms around so bash them if you like. After that head
back to where you started and you should see some steps. Jump up the steps,
destroy the leech at the top and turn left- you should see some purple gems
in a path leading to a big flower. Collect the purple gems as you glide to
the flower. After that glide to the next flower and then to the ledge at the
side.

This bit is really straighforward. Just walk along the ledge, destroying
leeches, jumping over fireflies and breaking chests until you get to the end.
When you get to the end follow the trail of red gems as you glide to another
platform with a couple of fireflies on it. Then glide down to the platform
where Cynder is standing. Break some more mushrooms and destroy some more
leeches and then walk up to Cynder. Spyro and Cynder will start talking and
Cynder will say about how her destiny is "somewhere out there for her to
find." Then Spyro will take a nap and you will enter the Vision World.

~4.2.4- Vision World 1~

Ignitus has summoned you to the Spirit Temple, so you can fight him in an
attempt to awaken your abilities. Open up the crystal puzzle box and let's
get cracking!

~Crystal Puzzle: Fire 4~

KEY: O : Beam, /|, |/, \|: Right Angled Mirror, {} : Power Crystal,
     --- : Beam Path, []: Blocks, < Beam Splitter

     [] {} []
     [] | []{}---\|
     [] | [][] |
|/-------< |
| | |
O |\----------/|

(Not all blocks are shown and it's not completely accurate.)

Once you've finished that, jump up the steps to where Ignitus is waiting.

~Boss Battle: Ignitus~

Yes, you have to fight Ignitus to awaken your powers.

The attacks he uses are a horn attack and his breath attack. He doesn't use
his breath attack until later. Basically just walk/roll around him while he
uses his horn attack and he shouldn't hurt you. Once he's used his horn
attack three times he'll become dizzy so all you have to do is go up and
whack him. I suggest only whacking him about three or four times because
after that he'll probably return to normal.

Keep going like this and once you've got his health down to about 1/4, he'll
begin to use his breath attack in addition to his horn attack. You can
probably evade this by jumping but I wouldn't worry about it too much because
he'll probably only get to use it once or twice during the battle.

Once you've beat him you'll watch a cutscene and then you'll wake up, thus
returning to the Dragon Temple.

~4.2.5- Part 4~

Upon awakening you will find that the temple is under attack and you need to
get out. You'll notice that really all you're doing is going backwards
through the levels though you're going to have to do a few things you didn't
have to do before.

Go ahead and do the usual mushroom-bashing then start the crystal puzzle. As
you walk up to the box you'll be told how to use the fire breath (again).

~Crystal Puzzle: Fire 3~

KEY: O : Beam, /|, |/, \|: Right Angled Mirror, {} : Power Crystal,
     --- : Beam Path, []: Blocks, < Beam Splitter

      |/----------{}
       | []
       | []
O------< []
       | []
       | []
      |\----------{}

(Not all blocks are shown and it's not completely accurate.)

After you complete that lily pads will start going around. Jump on the
first one you see and ride on it until you get to the next bunch of lily
pads. Jump on those and then jump on the moving one. When you're close
enough jump on the platform, fight as many monsters and break as many
mushrooms as you want then continue through the doorway to finish.

~4.2.6- Part 5~

Sparx will tell you to try and use combinations of breath and melee attacks.
I prefer using just melee attacks, but a good combination to try is using a
breath attack and then finishing off the enemy with melee attacks.

Glide to the platform to the right if you want to fight another monster, then
go back to the starting platform then to the platform to your left. There's
another monster here for you to fight. Jump across the lily pads to the other
side of the area. Go to the left and fight some more monsters and collect
more gems if you wish. Then go back to the right and jump up the little
steps, then glide across the trees to get three more blue gems. Jump down
and fight more monsters and collect more gems and then continue through the
next doorway to finish.

~4.2.7. Part 6~

Glide onto the blue platform then onto the ledge at the other side to grab a
Dragon Tooth. Dragon teeth give you more breath power.

Look around and you should find a ledge below the ledge you started in.
Somehow or other try to glide there, then turn around and glide onto the blue
platform then onto the ledge at the other side to enter the library area.
Fight some monsters then go to the very right of the room and you should see
a little passage. Go through there and you should see the crystal puzzle
piece that you need. Grab it then go back out. There's no need to explore the
library any more though you can if you want to fight more monsters and grab
more gems. When you're ready head out of the library area (back the way you
came). Glide onto the blue platform then glide across onto the ledge. Go
through the arch and then continue down the path, collecting the purple gems
as you go.

At the end of the path you may notice there is another archway. You can go in
there to- you guessed it!- fight more monsters and collect more gems. Open
the crystal puzzle box when you are ready.

~Crystal Puzzle: Fire 5~

| 4.3. Ancient Grove |
*--------------------*

You will get to watch another cutscene and then you'll be sent to the Ancient
Grove. Sparx will complain, saying "Ugh, he always sends us to the nicest
places." Spyro will then say, "Come on, Sparx, it's not that bad." Not much
of a conversation, but whatever.

~4.3.1- Part 1~

Follow the path, destroying the Nataloids (that's what they're called in The
Legend of Spyro: A New Beginning anyway). Watch out for their missiles. At
the end of the path you can glide across the platforms to the right to break
a crystal, or glide to the platform to the left to break a mushroom and
continue on your path. Hop on a lily pad when one's nearby then jump onto the
ledge with the armadillo when you're close enough. If you want to preserve
your sanity then please don't bother killing the armadillo because it's easily
the most annoying in the game as it seems to move faster than the others and
it's on a small ledge that's easy to fall off. Quickly jump onto the smaller
ledges to the side then jump onto the platform with a path on it. Follow the
path and you've completed the level. Yay.

~4.3.2- Part 2~

There are two easy-to-find mirrors in the little area you're in. In fact I'll
probably confuse you if I try to explain where they are, so I'm not going to
try. Once you've grabbed them, it's time to start the crystal puzzle.

~Crystal Puzzle: Fire 7~

(Not all blocks are shown and it's not completely accurate.)

Continue on, destroying the enemies on the way. Jump onto the first leaf,
then jump onto the leaf on your right, then onto the leaf on your left and
finally onto the leaf on your right. See the purple trail of gems leading
from the leaf you're standing on? Follow them (glide) to another ledge.
Destroy the crystal, then walk across and grab a dragon scale. Go back to the
leaf you just glided from. Glide across to the other ledge (follow the red
gems). Follow the path, being careful of the armadillo. At the end of the
path go ahead and destroy the two nataloids, then jump down onto the land
below.

If you love bashing crystals then turn around. See those little platforms in
the water? Jump across them then onto the little ledge with the crystal. It's
not much but it's better than nothing.

On the mainland just walk around destroying enemies and whatnot. When you're
done jump up the green steps in the area, destroying the nataloid.
When you're in the right position on the very, very top platform, there will
be a small conversation and then you'll enter... the Vision World.

~4.3.3- Vision World 2~

First off Terrador says a few things. After that walk forward until you see
two crystal puzzles. Open the one closest to you.

~Crystal Puzzle: Earth 3~

(Not all blocks are shown and it's not completely accurate.)

A pillar behind you will rise from the ground. Turn around and double jump
onto it, then jump onto the little ledge then into the cave opening. Inside
the cave, jump up the steps, then jump to the ledge to the left, then jump on
another ledge with a mirror on it. Exit that part of the cave, just don't go
back out the way you came. Follow the corridor to get another mirror. Exit
the cave (again not the way you came) and walk along the ledge to get the
third mirror. Jump back down and do the second crystal puzzle.

~Crystal Puzzle: Earth 4~

         |\-------/|

(Not all blocks are shown and it's not completely accurate.)

Solve it and now you'll be able to proceed to Terrador.

~Boss Battle: Terrador~

Terrador is a boss that many people struggle with, so don't worry if you
can't get past him the first time.

(But if you do get past him easily you'll be able to beat the rest of the
dragons easily.)

He has two attacks: a tail attack and a breath attack. Like Ignitus, he
doesn't use his breath attack until later. When Terrador has got his head
down it means he's about to use his tail attack. I get the best results if
I walk about halfway around him then double jump. Once he's used his tail
attack three times he will get dizzy. Whack him three or four times and then
be ready for his next attack.

Later he'll use his breath attack. I'm not sure how to dodge it but if you've
done well before then you should have enough health left to keep alive.

If you're struggling then you can stand in a corner where he won't be able to
hit you and keep the sound on (so you know when he's used his tail attack
three times). However his breath attack will still reach you here.

There's another cutscene and then you'll return into the Ancient Grove.

~4.3.4- Part 3~

You'll be told how to attack with earth breath and also that earth breath can
knock your enemies back. Remember this for when you're surrounded.

You'll notice that when you switch to earth breath your breath energy bar
will be divided up and when you use your earth breath you will lose more
energy than fire breath. At the moment you should upgrade your earth breath
as much as possible.

Continue down the path, bashing mushrooms if you wish and you'll be told how
to switch breaths. Keep going, fighting the monsters and destroying the
mushrooms as you go. There's stuff off the path too, so you might want to
look around there as well. Once you get to the end of the path jump across
the platforms to the other side to find... another path to follow! Watch out
for the armadillo rolling down the path!

Somewhere down the path you will find a cave opening. Go in there and fight
some enemies for the blue gems if you wish.

Anyway keep walking down the path. When you find a platform low enough to
jump on to your left, jump on it. Jump on the next platform and glide across
to a bigger platform with mushrooms on it. Fight some enemies and then jump
onto the ramp thing and you will find a cave opening with a puzzle piece!
Jump down, grabbing the puzzle piece as you go. Keep going down the steps,
grabbing the dragon tooth as you go. You'll realise you're in the cave that
you passed earlier. Keep following the path but this time don't jump on any
platforms. Eventually you'll come to a pile of logs and a crystal puzzle.

~Crystal Puzzle: Fire 8~

(No blocks are shown and it's not completely accurate.)

Once you're done, keep walking and you're done!

~4.3.5- Part 4~

You'll notice the music has changed in this area. I don't know why, but it is
nice to have a change!

Anyway, weave your way around the tents as you continue forward. You will
then come to some steps. You can go to the right of the steps if you want to
fight an armadillo, but if you don't want to, just go up the steps. There's
another enemy waiting for you, so fight him and all the respawning ones if
you want the blue gems. Once you're done continue forward and grab the puzzle
piece. Go forward and fight some more enemies if you wish. Move forward a bit
more and you should see some steps going down into a cave to the left. Go
down them, fight the pirate and the nataloid if you wish and grab the puzzle
piece. Once you've done that go back out of the cave the way you came and go
left to grab another puzzle piece. Then go forward to the puzzle box.

~Crystal Puzzle: Fire 9~

KEY: O : Beam, /|, |/, \|: Right Angled Mirror, {} : Power Crystal,

      | []
     |\---------{}

So, after you've solved that puzzle you're not done yet! Yes, there's still
more of the level to go!

Walk down the path and fight any enemies that you want to fight. Break some
mushrooms if you want to as well. At the end, go across the bridge and then
glide across the anchors. At the other side, keep going forward to finish the
area.

~4.3.6- Part 5~

Fight the enemy (and respawning enemies) if you want to. Continue forward and
if you wish fight more enemies. Once you're done, go left of the crystal
puzzle box (you need to collect the puzzle pieces for this puzzle). Keep
going in that direction and you should see some steps but we'll ignore them
for now. Fight a few enemies if you wish. If you go past the steps and turn
around you should see some red gems. Follow the path of red gems into a cave.
The cave is pretty straightforward and has two nataloids for you to fight.

After that you should come to some steps (and another nataloid). Fight the
nataloid if you wish and then go up the steps. On the top step you should
find another crystal. If you look around from here you are above the area
where the cave entrance was! Glide down to the top of the steps you saw
earlier, fight the nataloid if you want to and grab the last puzzle piece.

Go back to where the crystal puzzle box was. Open it for another crystal
puzzle!

~Crystal Puzzle: Fire 10~

There are several ways to solve this crystal puzzle. That's just the way I
did it.

Walk to where the big rock was and you've finished this area!

~4.3.7- Part 6~

Go forward and fight the enemy and the respawning enemies if you want to.
Then follow the path to the right. If you want to there are more enemies to
fight. Keep following the path until you land in another area (with more
enemies to fight if you want those shiny blue gems!). Go right and jump onto
another platform with an enemy on it. Once you're done glide to another
platform with leaves on it. Jump onto the higher leaf then glide across to
yet another leaf. Keep jumping up and up. At the top fight the nataloid and
grab the puzzle piece. Jump back to the platform with the brown ground and
jump up the steps. Follow the path (remember it?) and fight some more
enemies.

Follow the path all the way and you should get to a small pond with a bigger
enemy on the other side. You will have to fight this enemy. Either fight it
normally or use your Earth Breath to knock him into the pond. Once you beat
him a puzzle piece will appear. Fight some more enemies if you want to but
I'm not sure if the enemies ever stop respawning in this area!

Once you're ready do the crystal puzzle.

When you've finished that puzzle you can exit the level!

~4.3.8- Part 7~

You'll notice that this area is one big tree, probably the tree that Spyro
saw in his dream.

Head forward and fight the nataloid. Glide across the water and head left
around the tree, fighting nataloids as you go if you wish to. When you get as
far as you can go, turn right and head up the steps to get the first puzzle
piece, then turn left to find another set of platforms to jump up. After a
few platforms you'll find another platform that is slightly lower down
containing a puzzle piece. Get the puzzle piece then jump back up to
continue.

When you've gotten as far as you can go, jump to your left to fight some
soldiers. When you're done fighting, go forward and jump onto the first leaf.
Turn right and jump onto the next leaf, then turn around and glide onto a
third leaf. After that just follow the leaf platforms until you get to
another set of stairs to jump up.

Here you can fight a bunch of soldiers. When you're done, do the crystal
puzzle.

Once that's done, jump onto the stairs created and keep going to exit the
area.

~4.3.9- Part 8~

This area is nothing but a boss fight with a pirate called Skabb.

~Boss Battle: Skabb~

As far as I know, this is the first boss battle where you CAN use breath
attacks!

You will not have to fight Skabb until he's fully gone- the battle will end
when Skabb still has a little bit of health left.

The first thing Skabb does is throw some large bombs. You can tell where they
will land from the shadows, so jump onto a platform without a shadow to avoid
getting hurt.

Skabb will then jump down onto the platforms and have three attempts to whack
you. Try and dodge him although it may be a little difficult on such a small
platform. Skabb will then get dizzy, so use your fire breath on him. If you
have levelled up your fire breath enough, the boss battle might be over.

If not, you're going to have to repeat that, though instead of large bombs,
Skabb will throw some smaller bombs straight at you, so you're just going to
have to jump out of the way.

Spyro will then be captured, and then it's on to the next level.

*----------------------*
| 4.4. Gladiator Arena |
*----------------------*

~4.4.1- Parts 1-5~

These areas are just hordes of monsters that you'll be forced to fight. I
recommend using an Earth Fury once in each round- it'll make it a lot easier.
Earth breath is also very useful for taking out the armadillos. (Yes, you are
forced to fight the armadillos as well...) And of course, Earth breath also
helps when you're surrounded. Which you will be. A lot.

I now have some more tips for the Gladiator Arena, from Wolfhunter777.

Here they are:

1. Spam your Earth Breath when enemies get too close. Otherwise, stick to
   melee attacks and air juggling.
2. Recommended that you max out Earth Breath power.
3. When you're fighting the 3 brown apes and 3 blue dogs, kill the ape that
walk towards you using melee. After killing him, run to one of the blue
dogs and spam the Earth Breath until it dies. By then, one of the other
brown apes should have died. Kill the blue dog using melee. Use Earth
Breath to kill the last blue dog if one of the brown ape is still alive.
4. Use Earth Fury when fighting the armadillo and apes.
5. When you get the Lightning Breath, you will come up against the wooden
thingy. After it fire a wooden block, use the Lightning Breath. Repeat the
process until it dies. And Fire Breath has no effect on it. Earth Breath
works on it but it doesn't do much damage.

Please Note:
1. Don't use Fire Breath unless you're really desperate. Because, there's too
many enemies coming towards you at one time.
2. Melee the grenadiers unless there's one group altogether. Grenadiers don't
move much and their throwing sucks.
3. When the purple dogs come, Earth Breath is your life saver. Those dogs can
run faster than Spyro unless you make Spyro dodge (AKA cart roll)
4. If you run out of Breath, use the dodge and circle around the arena until
   your Breath refill.

~4.4.2- Vision World 3~

Yay, time to get Electricity breath! First of all, if you can, uprgrade
your lightning range and damage as much as possible. It's going to be useful
very soon. Then it's time to start the level!

Go forward and up the ramp. Continue, following the platforms until you come
to a dead end where you can see a puzzle piece on a lower platform. Glide
down there and get the puzzle piece. Then keep going up, collecting another
two puzzle pieces as you go. You'll reach another dead end but you will be
able to see a lower platform to glide to so glide there. Once again keep on
following the platforms until you get the last puzzle piece. Then jump down
and start the crystal puzzle.

~Crystal Puzzle: Electric 1~

       O O O

Then jump into the brownish thingy and you'll be thrown up to the top, where
Volteer is.

~Boss Battle: Volteer~

You can use the same strategy as you did on Terrador! The only differences
are that there is nowhere to hide and... you can use your electric breath on
him!

~4.4.3- Part 6~

In this area, you will have to fight one monster. Yes, just one monster.

This monster will throw a boulder at you, then get dizzy. This is your chance
to use electric breath. Repeat until he's gone.

All done! Yep, that's all there is to this area!

~4.4.4- Part 7~

Yes, this is a pirate ship now, but the game still calls it the Gladiator
Arena.

Turn left, then turn right into a small, short passageway to get a puzzle
piece. Return to where you started, then enter the large room. Go to the back
of the room and climb up one set of steps, then go to the very back to get
another puzzle piece. While doing all this you can fight some soldiers if you
wish to, but it's not necessary (like most other monsters in this game...)

Return to where you started, turning left when you get to the gate thing and
then right into passageway with a few wooden planks blocking the way and a
crystal puzzle. This puzzle doesn't require that you have all the pieces.
So let's begin!

~Crystal Puzzle: Fire 13~

KEY: O : Beam, /|, |/, \|: Right Angled Mirror, {} : Power Crystal,

        | | |
        | {} |
       |\-----------------/|

Once complete, the wooden planks will vanish and you can continue across a
rather broken bridge to the second part of this area.

In this area, the monsters NEVER STOP RESPAWNING. So you can get lots of blue
gems here. This can be rather annoying though.

Go up the ramp, then head right, then left to get to another ramp up. Jump up
the wooden crates, then turn right and glide to another platform, following
the trail of red gems. Get the dragon tooth and the puzzle piece which is
over a gap, then jump down the gap to get a dragon scale. (I recommend
holding B while jumping so Spyro lands slower, making it easier to get the
dragon scale.)

Go back to where the wooden crates were to find the crystal puzzle. Now it's
time to do what is possibly the most difficult crystal puzzle in the entire
game. Are you ready? Here we go...

~Crystal Puzzle: Fire 14~

Congratulations! You've just beaten the hardest crystal puzzle in this game!
Now, jump through the hole in the floor and on to the next level...

~4.4.5- Part 8~

If you want to collect some gems, head right and double jump onto the
platform to find a few barrels that you can smash. There are also barrels
left of where you start too.

When you're done in the first room, go to the next room and smash as many or
as little barrels as you want to here. After that, switch to electric breath
and continue on into the final room to fight Skabb (remember, you didn't kill
him last time). The door will close behind you so, no going back for gems!

~Boss Battle: Skabb~

The first thing Skabb will probably do is throw a load of small bombs at you.
Jump/roll out of their way. Next all of the cannons will fire, try going to
the edge of the room to avoid being hit. Skabb will then be dizzy, so use
your electric breath on him. Repeat until he's gone.

~4.4.6- Vision World 4~

Time to get your final breath- Ice Breath!

In front of you is a crystal puzzle but you can't open it just yet. Go to the
very edge of the platform and turn left and glide to the small platform with
the puzzle piece. Jump down and head to the other side of the area and go up
the stairs. You will find the second puzzle piece on the top platform. Turn
around and glide onto a small platform, then jump onto the higher platform
with the third and final puzzle piece on it.

Now, go back to the start and do the crystal puzzle.

After that, head across the ice bridge to battle Cyril, the ice guardian.

~Boss Battle: Cyril~

Use EXACTLY the same method you used to beat Terrador and Volteer. I'm not
joking. Like Volteer, you can use your Electric breath on him.

After a cutscene, you'll be taken to the Celestial Temple. Well, the area
outside the Celestial Temple anyway.

~4.5.1- Part 1~

Sparx will give you some information about ice breath. I find that it's a
very useful breath for killing fireflies.

From the beginning, head left then turn around. There are a few platforms
over the water for you to jump across to get a puzzle piece. Go back and
follow the path. At the end, glide across to another platform, collecting
red gems as you go, then glide across to another platform. Jump down a few
platforms, then onto the two platforms across the water. When you are on the
second platform, turn around and glide onto the platform with the puzzle
piece. Jump back onto the platform you were just on, then continue on. Get
the puzzle piece on the platform after fighting the nataloid. After that,
glide onto another platform with a nataloid, then glide to the platform with
the crystal puzzle.

Go forward and fight the death hounds if you wish to. Keep going forward,
down the ramp to where the fireflies are. Then turn left and glide across the
river, following the trail of red gems. Fight the death hound if you want to
then keep going round until you get to the steps. Jump up the steps. At the
top, if you look to your left, you should see another long platform going
along the edge of the wall. Glide onto it and keep walking along it. When you
get to the end, you should see a dragon's tooth some distance away. Glide
towards it. Then go back onto the land that you were on earlier (the area
that you glided to just after the area with the fireflies). This time, don't
go up the steps, go left of them and you should see another trail of red gems
across a river. Glide across the river. Turn left and fight the death hounds
if you wish to, then go through the door to go to the next level.

~4.5.3- Part 3~

Ugh, trolls. I hate those creatures. I think that they're more annoying than
in ANB. They still have those long sticks which they use to hit you as you
try to approach them. And yes, like every other creature, they will respawn
several times.

Go forward, either dodging or fighting the troll. Go off the edge of that
platform, then turn right. Fight or dodge that troll too, then glide across
the platforms over the water. At the end of that there is another troll to
fight or dodge. When you're done with him, go to where the red gems are and
there is another troll there and more platforms over the water for you to
glide across. And at the end of that there are a couple of trolls for you to
fight. When you've had enough, just go through the door to go to the next
level.

(Note: Apparently there's a dragon scale here somewhere. I'll try and find
out exactly where it is so I can put it down in here too.)

~4.5.4- Part 4~

I hope you like jumping and gliding, because you'll be doing a lot of it in
this level!

Jump across the lower platforms, following the purple gems. On the main
platform are a couple of trolls for you to fight. When you're done with them,
turn around and jump across the higher platforms. On one of these platforms
is a nataloid so watch out for it. On the end platform is a puzzle piece.

Now go back to the platform with the trolls and through the doorway. No, you
don't get to exit the level yet! First, go across the lower platforms,
following the purple gems, then glide onto the platform with the puzzle
piece. Once you've grabbed it, keep going! Keep gliding between the small
platforms. You'll get the third and final puzzle piece while you're at it. At
the top is a larger platform with trolls and a crystal puzzle.

Go in the brown thing and you'll be whisked into the next level!

~4.5.5- Part 5~

First, smash the jars in the room you're in to get some gems. Then go outside
and fight the two death hounds if you wish to. When you're done, keep going
forward and then jump on the platform that's low enough to jump on. Turn
around and jump onto the next platform, following the trail of purple gems,
then go up onto a third platform attached to a wall. Turn around and glide
onto some more platforms attached to the wall until you get to your first
crystal puzzle piece for this level. Now go back to ground level.

There are three doors: one which you started in, one which is blocked by a
boulder and a third one which you need to go through. Fight the trolls if you
wish and/or smash the jars, then head up the ramp. Go through the first
doorway you see and glide onto another platform that's against a wall,
following the trail of purple gems. Glide from platform to platform, around
the wall until you get the second puzzle piece. Go back inside the tower and
go to the second and final doorway. Once again, glide across the platforms,
following those purple gems until you get the third and final puzzle piece.
Go to the doorway with the boulder and open the crystal puzzle box.

That one was the hardest to draw and it still looks terrible... Oh well.

Once you've done that, go around, fighting death hounds or smashing jars if
you want to, then go into the room that was previously blocked by the
boulder. Fight the trolls if you want to, then go down the hole.

~4.5.6- Part 6~

Jump onto the platform in front of you, then glide onto the next platform,
then go onto the large platform on the wall. Fight the trolls and smash the
crystals if you want to, then go to the other end of the platform and from
there, just keep jumping and gliding around the platforms. When you reach the
platform with the troll, fight the troll if you wish to, then jump down the
hole. You will be in a little room with a puzzle piece. Exit the room,
gliding out to the ledge with the jars. Smash them if you want to, then drop
down to the long platform with the crystal puzzle piece at the end. After
getting it, drop all the way down to the ground and go to the other end of
the room, smashing crystals and fighting trolls if you want to. Go up the
steps at the end then glide across the platforms to reach the final puzzle
piece for this level.

Drop down to the ground again and open the crystal puzzle box near the
boulder.

Now go through the exit that you've opened up to complete the level.

~4.5.7- Part 7~

I love this level, because it seems like you're in a giant crystal puzzle!
Yes, I'm weird, I know...

First of all, go forward and fight the trolls if you want to. Double jump on
to the second lowest pillar then jump onto the next pillar. Either jump onto
the ledge on the wall and glide around, or turn around and glide straight for
the puzzle piece, it's up to you.

Now go to the middle of the level and turn left. Fight the trolls and smash
the jars if you want to. When you're done, go up the ramp at the far wall and
jump on the first ledge. Then glide onto the arch. Glide onto the other end
of the arch then glide towards your first crystal puzzle piece for this
level. Return to the ground and do the crystal puzzle (this one doesn't
require the puzzle pieces).

Now, return to the centre of the level and turn to your left again. Go up the
ramp at the far wall and at the top, turn to your right. Glide onto the
ledge, then glide towards the puzzle piece. Once you've got it, drop down and
do another crystal puzzle. Once again, this one doesn't require puzzle pieces.

Another diagram that's probably even more confusing to read than it was to
make and that's saying something!

Now, return to the centre of the level and drop down the hole this time.

~4.5.8- Part 8~

Go straight ahead and you will be in a room with three troll statues and some
jars. Sorry, you don't get out of fighting trolls this time. Go towards the
troll on your right. It will become real and you can either fight it or try
and avoid it. Either way you will still have to get the puzzle piece it was
guarding.

Go back to the centre of the level and go to your left. This time, go to the
troll straight ahead of you and get the puzzle piece it was guarding. Return
to the centre of the level and go to your left again. Now go to the troll on
your left and get its puzzle piece. Now return to the centre and once again,
go to your left and keep going. You will be attacked by two stone sentinels
on either side. Either try and fight them or ignore them. You will have to do
another crystal puzzle.

~4.6.1- Part 1~

Head forward and up the steps, then glide onto a platform with a puzzle piece
on it. If you remember all the way back to the beginning of the game, this
little section of this level is like back in the Nightmare level.

Anyway, grab the puzzle piece and drop down to the ground. Go forward, past
the death hounds and you should see some red gems. Get them if you need them,
then go down the steps. Go into the cave on your left and up the stairs at
the other end. Jump across the platforms to get to the puzzle piece at the
end of a long ledge. Now, go back to the crystal puzzle box- it was where the
death hounds were.

~4.6.2- Part 2~

Follow the path into a wide open area. Go to your right and you should see a
little hole. Drop down into it. Go down the stairs into a little room. Either
fight or dodge the trolls, then get the dragon scale. Go back out, then go to
the other side of the wide open area. Jump up the stairs, then on the large
platform to get a puzzle piece. Then turn around and glide onto another large
platform then onto a smaller platform to get the second puzzle piece. Now
drop down and go to the edge and find the crystal puzzle box.

It looks confusing on the diagram but it's really quite easy...

Cross the icy bridge to get to another wide open area. Go to the back wall
and jump up the platforms to get to the top. You may occasionally have to
turn around completely to see the next platform. Once you are at the top,
there is a stone sentinel you need to fight to open up the entrance to the
next level.

~4.6.3- Part 3~

Go forward and up the steps to the ledge. Go to your left and up some more
platforms to get to another ledge. This time, go to your right and up even
more platforms to get to yet another ledge. Now go to your left and jump on
the platform to get a dragon tooth. Go back to the ledge and jump up the
platforms. At the top is a crystal puzzle.

Once again, it looks confusing but it's really simple.

Keep going forward and drop into the big "valley." Then turn around and enter
the cave. Go up the steps at the other side, then keep jumping from platform
to platform until you reach a ledge with some nataloids. Go to your right
until you can find a platform you can jump onto then keep jumping. You will
soon be able to reach a ledge with a puzzle piece. Then go back to the ledge
with the nataloids.

Find the other platform that you can jump on, then keep jumping. You will get
a puzzle piece on your way. Soon you will see a puzzle piece you can reach so
glide towards it. Go down the stairs and drop down. You are at the area just
before the "valley." Now, do the crystal puzzle.

The gap will now be filled and you can cross to the other side to exit the
level.

~4.6.4- Part 4~

Follow the path, defeating enemies if you wish to. Jump onto the platform,
then turn to your right, then jump across a platform and turn right again,
then jump across more platforms to reach the puzzle piece. Go back to the
second platform and this time, turn to your left. Jump up the steps. Soon you
will be next to the green river. Glide across it, then keep following the
path until you see some purple gems leading down to some more platforms.
Glide there. You should see another puzzle piece. Get it, then go up the
steps. Now, at the top, glide onto the long platform and keep going down it.
At the end, turn to your left. Now you're back at that lovely green river.
Jump up the platforms above it to get to the top. At the top, go up the step
to reach the very top. There's a puzzle piece here, so get it, then go back
down and glide across the green river. There's a stone sentinel and some
other enemies there. There is also a crystal puzzle for you to solve.

up again. Follow the path to where the crystal puzzle is but you can't access
it just yet. Instead, follow the red gems down onto another platform. Go down
these platforms to get the second puzzle piece then jump back up again. Now
it's time to do the crystal puzzle.

Go across the newly created bridge and follow the path to... more platforms.
Jump across them and go back to the main platform and keep following the
path. The rest of the level is quite self explanatory so I won't explain it.

~4.6.6- Part 6~

Just follow the path. There are a cave you can go in to fight some more
enemies if you want to. Once you're at the top, you can go around to fight
more enemies, or just go up the ramp and keep going. The rest is so self
explanatory I won't bother to explain it or you'll probably be bored to
tears! At the top, just jump in the hole to get to the next level.

~4.6.7- Part 7~

This one's just another boring jumping level. First, go forward, fighting
enemies or breaking jars if you wish to, then at the end of the path, jump
onto the platform. If you want to, you can jump on the platform to your left
for some crystals to smash. Otherwise, just glide onto the next small
platform in front of you, then the next, then turn around and get the puzzle
piece, then go back on the main path and do pretty much the same thing for
the rest of the level. At the end, there is a crystal puzzle for you to
solve.

Now that's done, glide onto the thing that fell to the other side.

Once you're there, smash as many jars and crystals as you can! You want to
get that fury bar as full as possible. Now, you have to enter through the
doorway in the middle, then follow the path and go up the steps to fight
Gaul.

~Boss Battle: Gaul~

Yes, the final boss battle in the game. Don't worry, it's not too hard.

First, Gaul will follow you and try to hit you. Then he will jump back and
then throw his blade. I find that if I'm standing close to him on his right
then I generally don't get hit. After throwing it three times, he will summon
some ghosts to float around. At first Gaul will just stand and watch but soon
he will get dizzy. Hit him with your electric breath as many times as you
can. It may only take one round but it might take two or three.

CONGRATULATIONS!!! YOU HAVE COMPLETED THE GAME!!! Now sit back and watch the
ending! You can now use God Mode and Fury Frenzy Mode!

|| 5. THE STORY (Part 2) ||
||=======================||

I have too much time on my hands today, so I feel like torturing you all with
another episode of my bad storytelling skills. (I did warn you about this
earlier in the walkthrough, remember?)

Anyway here goes...

After Spyro's battle against Cynder in Convexity, he was continually having
nightmares. One night, in the middle of the night, he woke up after having
one of these nightmares. Sparx was also awake and he told Spyro about how
"he's glad the female of fright is gone." Spyro's shocked and starts
searching for Cynder. When he finally finds her, out in the temple gardens,
Cynder says that her destiny is somewhere else for her to find. Spyro and
Sparx start to go back to the temple, when Spyro suddenly falls asleep.

In Spyro's dream, he hears voices. Voices telling him that he has abandoned
his true calling and he needs to awaken his powers within him. He then
re-learns how to use his power of fire and how to control time, because,
being a purple dragon, he can control things that others can not. The voice
then tells Spyro that he is the Chronicler and to seek him out. Spyro then
sees a tree, then wakes up.

When he awakens, the temple is under attack! Spyro helps Ignitus and the
other guardians fight off the attackers. The guardians then talk about what
they're going to do because they believe that there is bound to be another
attack soon. Spyro then tells them about his dream. Ignitus sends Spyro to
find the Chronicler in the Ancient Grove.

However, things don't go as planned. Spyro falls asleep yet again and awakens
his ability to use his powers of earth. And when Spyro and Sparx find the
tree, they accidentally awaken the tree spirit, Arborick. Spyro and Arborick
fight and Spyro emerges victorious! However, some pirates arrived and they
were not happy that Spyro had defeated Arborick. They wanted to capture
Arborick for their show! Then they said that Spyro will do just fine. Spyro
and Sparx are captured and taken aboard a pirate ship where they are asked to
battle in a gladiator arena. First, they battled some scorpions. Spyro won
the fight, but soon after, he collapsed into a deep sleep. Sparx tries to
stop the annoyed pirates who want a good show from being too angry by singing
Swing Low, Sweet Chariot, but the pirates didn't like it at all!

Spyro awakens in his room in the pirate ship, now with the power of ice
awakened within him and odd instructions to find the White Isles. Soon
Mole-Yair delivers a message from another prisoner. It says that rumours are
spreading throughout the ship about Spyro and that he hopes to meet Spyro
some time soon. The message signed, "Hunter of Avalar." Spyro has no time to
puzzle over this, though, as the pirates come in and take Spyro for his next
fights.

Spyro fights the Ravage Rider and the Executioner and wins! Unfortunately the
pirates disapprove of the triumphant little dragon and organise a bonus
match- Spyro versus Cynder! Soon bombs fall from the sky and chaos soon
reigns throughout the arena! Spyro and Sparx quickly find an exit. They free
Mole-Yair and search the pirate ship for a map to the White Isles. Skabb
happens to enter the room right as Spyro finds the map and before long they
fight each other! Skabb then opens the window and flies out so Spyro follows
him.

Spyro battles his way across many pirate ships and then flies out towards the
White Isles. Spyro falls asleep in mid-air though and has a dream in which he
awakens his power of lightning and learns that he must learn to control his
own emotions if he is to tame the free spirit of electricity.

At the White Isles, Spyro battles his way through the Celestial Caves and
enters the Celestial Temple. In the Celestial Temple, he has to prove his
worth by completing elemental challenges. In each challenge, he must fight
many enemies using only one element. After completing all four challenges,
Spyro has to step into another portal to "expose his heart and face what he
fears most." (This turns out to be a colour-changing elemental dragon, who
battles with Spyro.) After the battle, Spyro enters the Chronicler's room,
where the Chronicler tells Spyro a story.

A long time ago, there was a purple dragon with many powers. At first, he was
encouraged and taught by masters of all of the elements. He first mastered
fire, which was odd because he wasn't a fire dragon, then came many other
elements, like wind and electricity. But in time, his powers grew so strong
that he consumed everything.

This dragon was the Dark Master.

The other dragons exiled him to the Mountain of Malefor, where the sheer
weight of his malice cracked the mountain apart, creating a valley where the
lost souls of the world could reside. This valley was the Well of Souls.

The Dark Master then created an army, not of dragons, but of apes. He taught
them to harness the power of the gems, the dragons' life force.

Gaul, the leader of the apes, was trying to resurrect the Dark Master on the
Night of Eternal Darkness.

Spyro had to go to the Well of Souls immediately, to stop Gaul! He went over
to the Mountain of Malefor and fought his way through many apes to reach the
Well of Souls, where Gaul was. Cynder was also there and was sent to fight
Spyro again! They circled each other, then Cynder flew up and grabbed the
Dark Master's staff! Gaul threw Cynder back down, where she lay unconscious,
then fought Spyro.

Spyro was doing well. Then the eclipse happened. Spyro was swallowed up in a
beam of light and transformed into Dark Spyro! Dark Spyro continued to fight
Gaul and finished off the battle with a powerful Convexity fury!

After the battle, everything started falling around Spyro, Cynder and Sparx!
Spyro looked around in despair. Then, he heard the words of the Chronicler
echo in his mind.

"Ride out this storm, and live to fight another day."

With sorrow in his heart, Spyro unleaches a Time Fury and traps all of them
in a time crystal, safe from harm.

"Young dragon, all our hope now lies with you. When you wake up, it will be a
different world. But know this- you are not alone. You have allies."
