3.0 FAQs (Frequently asked questions) [FRAQ]
How many sagas are included in the game?
In the game are included, principally, 4 sagas: Sabaody arch, Amazon Lily,
Impel Down, Marineford. In addition there's the Strong World (taken from the
tenth film of One Piece), the Judicial Sky (a mixture of three sagas: Skypiea
arch, Enies Lobby arch, Thriller Bark arch), the Merry's Lagoon (a mixture
between Alabasta arch and Drum Island arch), the East Blue Park (a mixture of
four sagas: Kuro arch, Creek arch, Arlong arch, Logue Town arch.)
When this game was published?
It was published in 09/09/10 in Japan. In America/Europe it arrived in
07/01/2011.
How many characters there are in the game?
In the game there are 20 playable characters and 71 supporting characters.
What are passwords and why these don't work?
The passwords are codes to insert in the game to unlock particular support
characters and stages. However, there are passwords that only work with the
Japanese version of the game and other that work in the European and U.S.
version.

4.0 Main Menu [MNME]
First, as soon as you turn on your Nintendo DS with the game inserted, after
the initial video you must press the start button. Then you'll see a menu with
seven options that are, in order from left to right: Pirate Grand Prix,
Thousand Arena, MultiPlayer, Training, Edit Pirate Team, Treasure, Options.

5.0 Pirate Grand Prix [PGPX]
From here you enter the story mode. You can relive, through various sagas, the
adventures of the Straw Hat Pirates. Through this option you'll have to beat
all mission of the 10 island. You'll unlock the playable characters and the
supports, and also you can grown your character with the experience points.

6.0 Thousand Arena [THAR]
This is the challenge mode. With four different modes (Battle Royale, 1-on-1
Battle, Free Battle, 100 Chain Battle) you can test your skills in battle. The
Battle Royale, which is available in 4 modes (Easy, Normal, Hard, Expert),
consists in 5 battles, 3 vs 3, consecutively (the fifth is a 4 vs 4 battle).
The 1-on-1 is similar to Battle Royale, but are 1 vs 1 battles. With Free
Battle you can choose all the features of the battle (Level, Rules, Time,
items, GP, CPU, Tag, Player). Finally the 100 Chain Battle consists in 100
battles consecutively, without regenerating the life.

7.0 Multi-Player [MUPL]
With this option you can challenge your friends in battles through the Wi-Fi.
There's three different types of the Wi-Fi battles: Multi-Card Play, which can
be done by having a copy of the game to person; Single-Card Play, that requires
only one copy of the game to play with other people; Use Your Character.

8.0 Training [TRNG]
You can train and learn new moves to use in combat. Completing the training
and the Battle Royale with a character will allow you to unlock that character
as support.

9.0 Edit Pirate Team [EDPT]
Here you can create your own custom team and you can invent new strategies for
fighting.

9.1 Supports' Attributes [SPAT]
The attributes of support, unlockable throughout the game, are special features
that you can attribute to the supporting characters in "Edit Pirate Team." Here
there's a list of all attributes and the relative effects.
Swordsman - Boosts HP of support character. Automatically joins when gauge
fills.
Navigator - lets you summon the support character sooner, but lowers their HP.
Marksman - Makes the support character appear behind the main character.
Cook - Restores GP when summoned. But sometimes the food can be too spicy...
Doctor - Heals status effects, but slows down summoning speed.
Musician - Gives you random power-ups, but sometimes causes status effects.
Supernova - Boosts experience received. Assign to support character you want to
make stronger.

path", which it eventually unlocks something. There are passwords that only

11.0 Game System [GMSY]
The goal of this two-dimensional game is to reduce the opponent to zero life,
before the opponent does so with you. To do this you must use moves, items and
supports.
Fighting accumulate experience points that increase your character's
statistics. When the character levels up you can decide which statistics to
increase. Statistics are the following:
HP - It is equivalent to the bar of life and is one of the essential
statistics.
Attack - More this statistic is higher most damage you can inflict to your
opponent through the normal attacks.
Special - This statistic influence the damage you can cause by using special
moves or the secret move.
Items - This statistic helps to increase the damage caused by using the items.
Support - This statistic helps to increase the damage caused by using the
supporting characters.

12.0 Special Moves [SPMV]
In addition to the normal moves, which are executed by pressing the B button
and directional arrow keys, you can also use some particular moves called
"special move" and "secret move". These moves, to be performed, consume GP
(Gigant Points) which are the flames present under the health bar. Each
character has two special moves and a secret move. These moves are activated by
performing the following combinations of keys:
First Special Move: B - A (Using GP points: 1)
Second Special Move: Y - B (Using GP points: 2)
Secret Move: Y - X - A (Using GP points: 3)
The GP points can be earned or causing damage to your opponent through normal
moves, or when receiving attacks from the opponent.
In addition to the special moves and to the secret move there's another move
that is the strongest of all. This move, however, can not be performed by all
players, but by particular. Find below a list of the characters that can use
this move and the key combination to execute it. Remember that to perform this
move you have to necessarily have all the 3 GP and also the 3 supporting
characters must be charged and usable.
Rufy: UP A UP Y UP X UP B while holding L+R
Ace: UP X UP B UP A UP Y while holding L+R
Whitebeard: B X B X B X X A while holding L+R+DOWN
Blackbeard: A X Y A X Y A X B while holding L+R+DOWN
In addition to all these moves there is one particular, executable only by
Blackbeard. This is the move that in the manga Blackbeard has stolen from
Whitebeard. To run it you have to satisfy two conditions:
1) The move must be unlocked with a password.

2) You must select Blackbeard as a leader and as supports you need to have
Whitebeard and two allies of Blackbeard
(example: Blackbeard as leader - Whitebeard, Lafitte, Shiryu as supports)
If you have satisfied these conditions, in a battle you'll see a different
secret move.

From here you can change the options of the game as the music volume, the
character in the main menu and even you'll be able to erase the game data.
Also you can change the key commands. The default controls for playing are:

18.0 Secrets and Tips [SCRT]
In the game there are a lot of secrets and particularities that may not be
detectable without a guide. Here there are some of these that I found on the
internet or that I discovered by myself.
Pandaman
This is one of the support characters that can be unlocked by a particular
mission. To access this mission you have to wait in the selection screen of the
islands for at least two minutes. At some point you may see a ship sailing in
the sea. if you touch this ship with the Nintendo DS stylus you can access the
following mission.
Mission: Friendship!
Battle level: 33
Battlefield: Thousand Sunny
Opponents: Chopper - Buggy - Ivankov
Objective: Earn the most points!
Mission 1: Cleared for the first time! [Prize: / ]
Mission 2: Defeated Pandaman! [Prize: Pandaman as support]
Odacchi
This is another particular support character. He's inspired by the manga artist
and creator of One Piece, Eiichiro Oda. For unlock it you must to clean this
mission.
Mission number: 9 in Land Festival (The Sea is My Ring!)
Battle level: 24
Battlefield: Drum Island/Alabastra
Opponents: Magellan - Crocodile
Objective: Knock out the opponents! You will constantly be in spicy status!
Mission 1: K.O.'d opponent with support character 1+ times! [Prize: Berry]
Mission 2: Never left the ring! [Prize: Berry]
Mission 3: Cleared using specific combination! (Jimbei as leader - Arlong,
Hatchan, Camie as support) [Prize: Odacchi as support]
Nightmare Rufy
If you use Rufy as a leader and Nightmare Rufy as a support and you evoke the
support, the leader himself become the support.
Quick Experience
If you want to grow up quickly a character to level 50 you must have unlocked a
few missions, which are very easy to clear. The first mission, which can be
used to bring a character to level 20, is the following.
Mission number: 14 in Merry's Lagoon (Devastating Power)
Battle level: 31
Battlefield: Drum Island/Alabastra
Opponent: Blackbeard
Objective: Stay alive for the entire battle!
This mission can be completed by a character at level 1. To do this you have to
climb over the roof of the cable car and stay in a state of defense until the
end of the time (1:30). Beyond level 20 this mission becomes unhelpful because
it offers little experience. The second mission you need to bring the character
up to level 50 is the following.
Mission number: 4 in Nightmare Kingdom (Bingo Block Super Master)
Battle level: 56
Battlefield: Amazon Lily Arena
Opponents: Buggy - Usopp
Objective: Successfully execute Bingo Blocks 5+ times! Sanji is on your team!
To complete this mission you have to make 5 Bingo Blocks. To do this you have
to attack Sandersonia and quickly parry his attack. If you are able to learn
the mechanism of this mission will be easy to train your characters up to level
50.
100 Chain Battle
This challenge consists in to defeat 100 opponents consecutively. Normally you
may not use any kind of support, but there's a trick you can use to help your
victory. In fact, if you have a custom team (created in "Edit Pirate Team"),
you can also use supports that are essential to victory. To do this you must go
to the character selection screen (in "100 Battle Chain") and press "Y". Having
done this, choose your team and start to defeat the 100 enemies.
