Mario & Luigi: Bowser's Inside Story

by

Peach's Castle

After the opening scenes are finished , pay close attention to what Toad has to say about the game's controls. Once you have command of the Mario Bros., hit the ? blocks in the courtyard for coins, then enter the actual castle. Note the Save Block in here! Listen to what Peach, Starlow, and Toadsworth have to say, then get ready to battle Bowser.

This is really more of a tutorial battle than anything. Listen to Toadsworth's advice if you're new to the series, learning about double-jumping attacks and jumping to avoid enemy attacks.

Once Bowser's down for the count, watch the scene, after which you'll be in control of Bowser.

Use Bowser's boulder-smashing fists and tree-burning Fire Breath to create a path to the east, leading to a colorful booth set into the rock. There you'll be given a "Lucky Shroom," which Bowser promptly downs. Watch what happens!

Trash Pit

Mario and Luigi are now inside Bowser's stomach, so watch out for that bubbling digestive juice (gross!). Head right from where you begin here and hit the yellow box floating in the air. This is a Globin, and this one will save your game. Grab the Mushroom x3 here, then exit right to the next area.

You'll find Starlow here. Stand on the pipe poking up through the floor and press Down. You'll be launched into a pink ! block, which raises another pipe. Jump to that pipe and press Down to hit another ! block, which raises the pipe below Starlow. Enter that pipe to rescue Starlow.

You'll be attacked by a Goombule now. Starlow will offer helpful tips on defeating it. Be sure to counterattack the Goombule when it charges you, and double-jump on the enemy when it's your turn to attack.

After the battle, head right to the next screen. Hit the Globin here to save your game, battle the Goombules, then head down to the next screen. Collect the coins, battle the Goombules, and grab the Mushroom before exiting to the left.

Look, it's Luigi! Jump up and pull Luigi down, then get ready to face some Goombules. Note that the Goombule will lift his left leg if it's about to charge Mario, and his right leg if he's about to charge Luigi.

After defeating the Goombules, move through the next couple screens, grabbing the 1-Up Mushroom x3 and Mushroom x3 en route to a tall elevator shaft. Stand on the elevator and note the two blocks above it, one red and one green. Mario must jump into the red block at the same time Luigi jumps into the green block in order to lift the elevator to the top.

In the next screen, You'll find a crate with the image of a hammer on it. You can't open it just yet, so head right to the next room. Strike the colorful Attack Block here to receive an Attack Piece. If you find all 10 Attack Pieces inside Bowser, you'll unlock the Green Shell special attack.

Grab the Syrup x3 in this room, then head right to the next room and break all the Attack Blocks here to receive 8 more Attack Pieces. Take the upper-left exit to find the last Attack Piece and learn the Green Shell attack. Use it on the Goombules that attack here.

Go left to the next screen now. Hit the pink ! block to drop down onto the hammer crate you passed earlier, netting both brothers hammers! Hammers are used in the field as well as during battles. Use them now to smash through the crates to the right and reach the lower-right exit.

In the next room, smash the nub on the wall to the right with your hammer. This causes the egg hanging at the top of the room to crash to the ground, cracking it. Smash it open with your hammer to release some Spike Blops that you must fight. You can't jump on them, so use your hammers and/or Green Shell attack on them to kill them.

Once they're dead, continue right to the last screen of the Trash Pit. Grab the Syrup x3, then exit. You can now go to Toad Square to buy items, the Challenge Node to play minigames, or the Funny Bone. Head to the Funny Bone. Go to the right side of the room and smack the exposed nerve with your hammer a couple times to wake up Bowser.

Cavi Cape

You're back in control of Bowser now, smashing through boulders at Cavi Cape. When you reach the locked gate, punch one of the cannonballs falling down the nearby ramp; the cannonball will fly into a button, opening the gate. Head through.

A web blocks the way forward here, and you can't get through it until you restore your Fire Breath ability (which won't happen until you're a ways through Plack Beach. Return here once you have Fire Breath and burn through the webbing to find a Judge Shell and Red-Hot Fang).

Exit north, save your game, and head right. Stand on the blue stone and ride it across the gap, punching the rocks in the way to avoid being knocked off. On the other side, grab the Spicy Chicken x3 from the block and exit right.

Watch the scene with Fawful, then prepare yourself to fight the boar-like Midbus. Listen to Fawful's tips to learn how to increase the power of your punches. In any case, you can't win this fight, and will soon fail.

Go right to the next screen to stomp on some purple Borps and fight some Chuboomas. Grab the Hot Drumstick here, then take the lower-left exit. Grab the Spicy Chicken here, fight more enemies, and fight the enemies in the screen below this one. Return to the previous screen and head right to find the Chakroad, which acts as a teleporter to other Chakroads you discover throughout your travels.

To move on, head right to the next screen, then enter the cave. Take the lower-right exit to Plack Beach.

Plack Beach

Hit the Save Block here, grab the Fiery Drumstick x2, then head north. Smash the Drillbit Crabs for coins, fight the Toothys for XP, then get on the raft to the east. The raft floats in one direction until it hits a tooth-shaped rock or you punch a rock to change direction. Punch the rocks to gather the coins over the water, then return to the beach.

Head north and you'll hear the cries of Broque Monsieur, who's trapped on an island in the water. Bowser agrees to help by pulling the island to the mainland via a rope, but he's not strong enough, so he'll need Mario and Luigi's help!

As the Mario Bros., you must fire a cannon at the arm muscles. The energy that bounces back will be red or blue, depending on which brother is supposed to hit it back with his hammer. Keep hitting the energy until it enters the muscle. Keep at it until Bowser has enough strength to pull the island in.

To thank Bowser, Broque gives him the Vacuum Block, which allows him to perform the Vacuum Attack in battles and start collecting Blitties. Pay attention in the tutorial Broque gives on the Vacuum Attack, and afterward you'll receive a Retry Clock.

Make your way to the north end of the beach now to find the Sea Pipe Statue. After you try your Vacuum Attack on the statue, you'll have a boss battle on your hands!

BOSS: Sea Pipe Statue/Stone Blooper
HP: 320

As Bowser, you can't really do much damage to this boss other than with counterattacks. If the statue's left arm is level with the ground, you'll need to be ready to quickly punch the Stone Blooper that the statue launches at you. If the statue's arm points upward, the attack will be slightly slower. Your turns as Bowser should be spent either healing or using your Vacuum Attack to suck the Stone Blooper inside him so that Mario and Luigi can deal some damage to it. As the bros, use Green Shell special attacks on the Stone Blooper when it's close to the ground. Watch out for the Stone Blooper to float above one of you, and be ready to strike it with your hammer when it drops down. When it turns red, it's about to leave Bowser's body and dive into one of the bros. If it squats slightly, it will dive at Mario, and if it bows low, it will dive at Luigi. Be ready to counter with your hammer. When the Stone Blooper leaves Bowser's body, have Bowser Vacuum him back inside so Mario and Luigi can continue their assault.

Now that the Sea Pipe Statue is finished, Bowser will be trapped by palm trees, meaning that you'll have to take control of the Mario Bros inside the Pump Works of the statue to proceed.

Pump Works

Listen to Starlow's explanation on swimming inside Bowser's body, then head right to the next screen. Enter the pipe in the middle of the screen to find the first Attack Piece, which goes toward your Fire Flower special attack. Go back up the pipe and head right to the next screen.

Grab the Attack Piece here, then proceed to a wall blocking a nub. Switch to Bowser and move him away from the water, then switch back to the Bros and hit the nub with your hammer. Move to the next obstacle, switch to Bowser and have him drink the water, then switch back to the Bros so you can swim up. Have Bowser stop drinking again so that Mario and Luigi can reach the next nub. Smack it with your hammer.

Now have Bowser drink some water again, then enter the upper-right pipe to find some coins and a Mushroom. Return left to the previous room to find more coins and a 1-Up Mushroom, then continue left to find another nub. Strike it to make the platform above vanish, then swim up and right to the next room.

Enter the pipe that appeared earlier, then use the Save Block when you emerge. This is the Stingler room, but it's missing the Stingler that allows Bowser to breath fire. For now, exit to the right.

Swim up and hit the two blocks for two Attack Pieces, then swim around to the right and up to find another Attack Piece. Now enter the room to the right. Not much to do here at the moment, so continue right to the next room.

There's a ! to the upper-right, so hit that to make the wall vanish. Head right to the next room and hit the block for another Attack Piece. Grab the coins from the ? block to the right, then exit right to the next room. Hit the ? block above for a Syrup Jar, then go right and hit the nub with your hammer to make a red sphere appear. Push it all the way to the left so that the Chombone there lunges down at it, breaking the floor in the process. Head down and right and hit the block for another Attack Piece. Now head right to the next room.

To the right you'll find Toadsworth trapped behind a wall. Here you'll learn how to shrink Mario so that he can fit through those gaps: by having Luigi smack him with the hammer! Do so now, then have Mario walk through the nearby gap. Move Bowser away from the water, then have Mario continue to a nub, which he can hit with his own hammer. This frees Toadsworth, so go back to where he was trapped and hit the nub there to open a hole in the floor. Head down through the hole and have mini-Mario walk through the small gap to find another nub. Strike it, then hit the ? to the lower-right for some Picnic Wear. Now return to Luigi and have Bowser drink the water again. Swim up to the block above the Save Block for a Nut, then have Bowser stop drinking. Now take the lower-left exit.

Move through the platforms to the left in this room to reach another Attack Piece in the lower-left corner, then take the upper-left exit to the next room. Hit the nub to the left to create another sphere, then push it left so that the Chombone smashes through the floor. Hit the nub again for another sphere, and push that one to the right beneath that Chombone. Head into the lower-right gap first for an Attack Piece, then head through the gap you made to the left as mini-Mario. Hit the nub, then take the exit left to the next room.

Hit the block here to receive the tenth Attack Piece, which allows you to use your new Fire Breath ability. Try it out in Practice Mode!

Head left to the next nub. Strike it to release a red sphere from the pipe, then follow it up. Push it left to the next screen, and push it left as far as you can. Have Bowser move away from the water and the sphere will enter the cannon.

Shrink Mario down and have him hit the nub below the cannon to fire it. Before moving on, go left one screen, then head to the upper-right exit of the room. Shrink Mario down and walk through to reach a ? box containing some Fighter Wear.

Now head right to where the sphere was shot and move the sphere into the Chombone's line of sight to bust a hole in the floor. Head down and right to find the Stingler! Return it to the Stingler room back a few rooms.

The door to the Flame Pipe is open now, so head through.

Flame Pipe

Not much happening here. Jump up the platforms, then shrink Mario down and walk through the gap to the left to reach a nub. Strike it, then head back to the Luigi and proceed to the next room. Follow the platforms to the top, where you'll have a boss fight on your hands!

BOSS: Scutlet
HP: 280

Scutlet has three main attacks, all choreographed by his eyes: whoever he looks at is the bro about to be attacked. The first attack is his tongue lash: be ready to jump over the tongue and stomp on it to deal some damage. The next attack is when Scutlet grabs Starlow and throws him at one of the Bros. Have your hammer ready to knock Starlow back at Scutlet. The final attack has Scutlet jumping into the air and sweeping down at Mario or Luigi's feet. Be ready to jump and stomp on his back! Throw in some of your Fire Flower special attacks to make Scutlet feel the burn.

Plack Beach, Part 2

Now that Bowser has his Fire Breath back, burn the trees around you, then head right to the next area to find Broque again. He's lost his pet, Broggy, who promptly attacks! Let Broque teach you about Bowser's spiked shell defense, which you can use to prtect yourself from Broggy's jumps and back-attacks. Use your Fire Breath to turn Broggy around so you can punch him!

After the battle, grab the coins and Fiery Drumstick here, then head north to reach Dimble Wood.

Dimble Wood

Ooh...a forest...lots to burn! The grass patches will often hide coins, so burn them whenever you see them.

Torch the trees to the left to reach two boxes containing coins and Fiery Drumstick x2, then head up to the next screen. There's a large stone block here with a carving of a Wiggler blocking the path. Punch the Wiggler's head to learn the Wiggler Code (from left to right, it's 1, 3, 2, 4). Now head right to the next screen.

Another Wiggler here; punch its segments in the right order (1, 3, 2, 4) to remove the Wiggler statue on the previous screen. Grab the coins to the right, then return to the left. Head up to find Broque's Shop, where you can buy items and gear. Don't buy any gear, as it's not worth it at the moment.

Go right now for a scene in which you'll agree to help find the Blitties by using your Vacuum Attack on certain monsters, then defeating those monsters.

In any case head up to the next screen. Torch the trees to the left, and continue going left to find a Treevil (use your Vacuum Attack on it to suck out the first Blitty). Burn the trees to the southwest here to find a block containing a Retry Clock, then go left to the next screen.

There's a yellow platform called a Launch Fit here. Stand on it and use your Fire Breath to light the fuse and launch a good distance. Use the Save Block here, burn the nearby trees to find a portal to Cape Cavi for future use, then head up two screens. Watch the scene there, and afterward, head up to find a large Wiggler statue. Bowser can't move it, so it's up to Mario and Luigi to deliver some strength to him!

Like your first experience in the Arm Center, have Mario and Luigi hammer the energy balls back and forth until they're absorbed into Bowser's muscles, giving him the strength to create the bridge.

Cross the bridge, then head down one screen. Bust open the Goomba cage here to learn the Goomba Storm special attack; try it out on the Treevils to perfect it!

Afterward, head back up to the previous screen, cross the bridge, then take the eastern exit if you want to suck out a Blitty from the Trashure enemy there. If not, take the northern exit instead.

Break the block here for some Syrup, then go southeast to find another block containing a Hard Ring. Go up to the next screen, grab the coins from the block, then go north again to the next screen. Use the Save Block here, then go north yet again for a scene.

Afterward, head right to the next screen, then exit down. Cross the bridge to find another Wiggler statue, then use the Wiggler Code (1, 3, 2, 4) to punch the statue segments in the correct order.

Take the exit to the north, then go right two screens for another scene. Afterward, grab the Retry Clock from the ? block, then go up to the next screen. Save your game at the Save Block, then go up another screen to find a large carrot, which Bowser wants to yank out. For that, you'll need the Bros' help!

Back in the Arm Center, you must hit the energy balls as usual, but this time there are many more balls to hit. Thankfully, they follow the rhythm of the music, so strike them with the Bros' respective hammers until Bowser is able to pull the carrot free.

After more dialogue, Bowser will start to chow down on the carrot, and Mario and Luigi must help him digest it. Head to Gut Check, and when the pieces start appearing, tap the big pieces until they break down, then get working on the next section of the carrot.

Eventually stars will appear around Bowser's head, indicating he has eaten an enzyme. Watch the carrot piece that falls into his stomach when the stars appear, and quickly tap that piece to find the enzyme. The quicker you find the enzyme, the more pieces of carrot it will immediately digest. You have one minute to digest all the carrot pieces.

Watch the scene that transpires, and save when you're given the opportunity to do so. Why? Because you've got a boss battle coming up!

BOSS: Wiggler
HP: 540

Wiggler starts out red as the setting sun, and you can only really deal damage to Wiggler when his segments are yellow. This can be accomplished in a few different ways. The easiest is to simply use the Vacuum Attack when two Leaf Guys appear over Wiggler, holding a vegetable. This drops the vegetable onto Wiggler, turning all his body segments from red to yellow and knocking him out for a few turns. You can also turn his segments yellow when he charges at Bowser. Hit him with punches to turn the segments from red to yellow. Once Wiggler is dazed, unleash your Special Attacks on Wiggler's head. Meanwhile, inside Bowser, Mario and Luigi will have to deal with any Leaf Guys Bowser inhales. Simply repel their attacks with hammer strikes so that you Bowser can get back to the task at hand: finishing Wiggler off!

Bonzai Bill is yours! Go down two screens for a scene. The action will then revert back to Mario and Luigi.

Head to the Nerve Cluster to find a Durmite worm, but make sure your HP/SP are fully replenished before you tackle it.

BOSS: Durmite
HP: 326

Durmite is accompanied by two Biffidus, and it can call for more at will. You'll want to kill these first so that they don't attack you (jump over them if they do) or that Durmite doesn't chew them and spit them out at you (watch Durmite's eyes to see which brother will get spat at). Whenever Durmite sticks a straw into Bowser's stomach (man this game is disgusting), be sure to destroy it, or Durmite will gain 30% of its HP after two turns! Durmite's main attack is to charge at one brother. Wait for him to turn red, then smack him with the hammer when he charges. Keep up your attacks, killing more Biffidus when they appear, until Durmite is no more.

Head right to the screen now, then head in for a cutscene. Continue onward, watch the scene, and then you'll be in control of Bowser again.

Head to Rump Command, save your game at the yellow emoglobin, then talk to the purple one to get the minigame going. Red and green energy balls will be flying at you, and you must strike them with the correspondingly-colored Bro. Get out of the way of the spiked ball if you mess up, or you'll lose some coins!

Once you fill Bowser's adrenaline meter, you must blast the blue energy ball with both Mario and Luigi simultaneously. Keep shooting the ball until it expands and causes Bowser to explode in size.

Giant Bowser must now take on his own castle, which has become a mobile fortress!

BOSS: Bowser Castle
HP: 535

Your attacks have been reduced to punches and Fire Breath, so lay into the castle with punch after punch. Slide the stylus from left to right as fast as you can to make your punches more powerful! Use a quick punch when the castle flies at you through the air. Use Fire Breath and blow into the DS's mic to get the flames nice and roaring. When Shyguys attack in their own airships, tap on the screen to direct your flames to burn them, but don't tap too fast, or your flames will be weaker.

Bowser will shrink back down after the battle. Head up the newly-opened path to the Bumpsy Plains.

Bumpsy Plains

Save your game at the Save Block here, then go up and smash through the rocks with your moving punch. Battle the Flifits for XP (sucking one in for a Blitty), then head left and break the blocks to find the Chakroad for later use. Return to the right, then take the southeast exit going south.

To the southeast there's a raft. Get on it and ride it, punching the rocks left, down, and left to find a block on an island on the screen above; punch it for a Safety Ring. Return to the previous screen and get back on dry land. This time, exit up via the path in the middle of the screen.

Head up the ramp here and slide-punch across the gaps in the path. Go up and left to find 50 Coins in a block, then exit up. Go up the southeast ramp and slide-punch across the platform to reach the northeast exit, which leads to Bowser's Castle Path.

Bowser's Castle Path

Save your game with the Save Block, then head up to find a yellow Shop Block. Its inventory will change over time, so for now, just buy any regular items you may need. You can also restore your HP/SP at the block for only 10 coins! Do what you need to do, then exit north.

Head right here, bust the block for some coins, then slide-punch over the platforms to the right to reach the next screen. Fight the Chain Chawful here and use the Vacuum Attack on it for a Blitty, then zip across the rollers with your slide-punch. Take the lower-right path first to a ? block with a Power Band, then take the upper-right path over the rollers to the next screen.

Watch the scene here, then take the lower-right path to a cage of Shy Guys to learn a new special attack: Shy Guy Squad! Participate in the tutorial, then go back and take the upper path this time, heading right. Slide-punch over the rollers to the upper-right exit.

From here, take the lower-right exit to reach the castle approach. After viewing it and hearing Midbus's taunts, return to the previous screen and take the upper-right exit this time. Go right to the next screen for a cutscene, and save your game at the Save Block afterward.

Head right two screens, then take the lower-left exit to the other side of the castle approach. Another scene will play here, after which you'll be in control of the Bros again.

Back to the Arm Center we go! As usual, have the Bros hit the red-and-green-colored energy orbs into Bowser's muscle until he's strong enough to hurl the cannonball back at the castle.

As Bowser, go to the screen to the right and take the upper-left exit. Exit left, save your game again, then go to the right of the entrance to the castle. Burn the poster there to reveal a tiny path that Mario can use later on.

For now, though, head into Bowser's Castle.

Bowser's Castle

Talk to all of Bowser's minions here in the lobby, as well as those in the rooms off to the left and right. When you return to the lobby, the doors above will open, so exit up. Save your game with the Save Block here, then break the two item blocks to the left and right for Hot Drumstick x2 and Supersyrup.

Go up to the next room and stand at the front of the stage. Watch the cutscenes, then try to leave. This triggers another cutscene, after which you must fight Midbus, and win this time!

BOSS: Midbus
HP: 950

Style plays a role in this battle: if you perform an excellent attack, the audience will toss coins Bowser's way! Unfortunately, the audience will also periodically toss food at Midbus, allowing him to steadily replenish his HP/SP, so you'll want to use your Vacuum Attack to suck them down before Midbus does!

Midbus has a few strong attacks up his sleeve. He'll puff up and walk toward you with the intent to clobber you, but you can keep punching him in the stomach to stop this. He also has a ball-and-chain attack. If the ball is at an angle toward the ceiling, be prepared to duck into your shell to dodge it. If the ball is parallel with the floor, be ready to punch it back at Midbus. His last attack is a body slam; watch for when he bounces around, just before he drops from the top of the screen. If he drops on top of Bowser, quickly go into your shell to defend against the attack. If he drops next to you, punch him just as he hits the ground to avoid the shockwave. Use your special attacks when you're defending against Midbus's or sucking up food and this boss will go down without a hitch.

After the battle, you'll be in the VIP room, where tables have been set up with more food than anyone could possibly eat. Anyone but Bowser, that is. Scarf down on all of it, and after Bowser becomes super chubby, you'll be in control of the Bros again.

Flab Zone

Enter the Flab Zone and jump up the platforms to find a ? block. Bust it open for a Retry Clock, save your game to the right, then exit to the right.

The first Attack Piece is here, so break it out of the block. The pink floor here allows you to jump higher if you hit the jump button the instant you leave the ground, so try it out here as you head right. Hit the other blocks for coins and a Super Mushroom, then exit right.

Watch the scene with Peach and an Alpha Kretin here, then head right over the platforms and go on to the next screen. There's another cutscene here, so watch Luigi get dunked in mucus. Yum. Afterward, Princess Lipid will give you two badges: the Mushroom Badge and the Good Badge for Mario and Luigi, respectively. You'll then get to try them out in a tutorial battle with some Tenderlings.

After all that, climb up the yellow platforms, cross the bridge, and head right to the next screen. Head up the yellow platforms here, then enter the green pipe.

Hit the blocks here for a Super Mushroom and some coins, then head to the lower-right corner of the room to find a special juggling block. You must hit the block back and forth between Mario and Luigi 20 times in order to gain the 4 Attack Pieces within.

Exit the room via the green pipe to the right. Use the flabby floor here to reach the blocks above, which contain a Super Nut, POW Boots, and coins. After that, talk to the blue nutsoglobin. He has a quiz for you, and the reward is 50 coins. The questions will be in reference to one of four stories, so here are all four:

Bowser's Body Condition

I guess my throat's kinda dry...and actually, now that you mention it, my head feels fuzzy. Yeah...great , now that you got me paranoid, and other places are feeling kinda weird! There goes my stomach! It's all gurgly and hot! And I know exactly why! I mean, I ate a ton here, but before that, I ate this huge Giga-Carrot. That's what did it! Look, I don't wanna talk about it anymore, OK? If I keep thinking about this, my whole body will shut down!

Bowser's Castle

Huh? You wanna hear about Bowser Castle? Gee, it's only the best castle ever made. Take a look from a distance! Powerful and awe-inspiring design choices slap your face! It's like looking at me! And I didn't even mention the best part! Underneath it, there's a chamber full of treasure! The treasure I took by force sleeps in a pile down there like a giant, golden baby! But...my awesome castle. That stupid Fawful! The guy remodeled the whole thing. He turned the military training facility into the Fawful Theater! That's wrong in so many ways! No, Fawful! Not on my watch! When I get out of here, I'm making it Bowser Theater!

Chippy

What? You're asking me how I feel about this Chippy inside my body? Well, I'm not a fan, I gotta say. She's always yapping about whatever, which I don't need. She comes off as kinda superior, too, which ticks me off. But beyond that, I don't even know what she is! I mean, how long's she been in there?! I just wanna know where she is, just once. That's all. But hey, she's in there fixing up all the nasty parts in my bod, so I can't complain, right? Yeah, I'll have her work for a few more shifts, you know? Gwahahahahaha!

Fawful's Cooking

What? Fawful's cooking? Guy can't cook! It was nasty! I spat it out, it was so gross! Well, I wanna say that, but actually, the dude's a prodigy. The flavors were unbelievable! You know what I liked the best? General Fawful's Spicy Chicken. I mean, it was spicy, but on the inside the spice was delicate and body and, man, I could eat it forever. And the flavors in his cake...they blew my mind. I'm talking rich cream, a fluffy sponge exploding in your mouth like a taste volcano. Believe me, I was shocked a guy that weird had such skills.

When you're done with the quiz, go through the red pipe to the right. Save your game, then hit the juggling block back and forth until you get the 4 Attack Pieces out of it. Take the red pipe to the right to the next screen. Use the floor to bounce up to the two platforms here and hit the blocks for coins and some Syrup. Now take the green pipe to the left.

Bounce to the platforms here to find more coins and some Supersyrup. Talk to the blue emoglobin in the corner for another quiz, then exit the room via the upper-right red pipe. Now take the lower-right red pipe in this room again. Save your game again, then take the green pipe this time.

Hit the nub below with your hammer release a whirlwind and learn the Spin Jump. Jump straight up to make some blocks appear (two against the wall and three more to the left of them). Spin Jump into the whirlwind you released, then drop into the yellow mucus. You'll be launched onto the platform you just created. Spin jump into the fake wall to find a hidden room containing two ? blocks containing an Ultra Nut and EXP Socks.

Return to the previous room and drop down. Spin Jump into the whirlwind and Spin Jump across the platforms between the mucus until you reach the other side. Hit the last Attack Block here for the final Attack Piece, which unlocks your Jump Helmet attack! Learn about it in the tutorial, then enter the green pipe to the left.

Hit the two blocks here for coins and a 1-Up Mushroom, then use the flabby floor to jump between the whirlwind and platforms to find a hidden platform. Spin Jump on the platform through the whirlwind to the next platform. Head through the red pipe to the next screen.

Shrink Mario down and walk through the gap to the right. Jump up the platforms until you reach the top. Jump up to reveal some hidden blocks, then cross them to a nub. Hit it, then return to Luigi. Jump on the flab that you made appear to reach the top of the room. There you'll find another emoglobin ready to quiz you for coins. Take the quiz, then enter the red pipe to the right.

Use the flabby ground here to reach a ? block with some coins, then continue right to find more blocks containing more coins and some Supersyrup. Get on the platforms to the right and Spin Jump to the two pipes at the right side of the room. Head down the green one.

Bust the two ? blocks here for Supersyrup and Super Mushroom x2, then save at the Save Block and head right to the next screen for a cutscene. After that, jump up and use a Spin Jump on the orbs around Peach to get the boss battle underway.

BOSS: Alpha Kretin
HP: 385

Alpha Kretin is surrounded by 6 orbs. Mario can only damage the orange ones and Luigi can only damage the green ones. When you strike an orb, all the surrounding orbs change color, so alternate between the two Bros' attacks. When the Alpha Kretin attacks with its own energy blasts, a light will travel through the orbs. Watch the order of the orbs the light travels through, as this corresponds to what order the Bros will be attacked. Use your hammers to deflect the energy blasts. When Alpha Kretin splits into six smaller pieces, watch to see which glows, as this is the real boss and the only one you want to attack. The smaller Beta Kretins will then surround you and dance around, so keep an eye on the real boss so you can keep attacking it. You'll also need to jump over the blasts of electricity. When you're not dodging or defending against attacks, use your Special Attacks to deal damage.

Head right to the next room now for another scene. Hit the ? block above for 100 coins, then go right to the next screen for another cutscene, after which you'll be in control of Bowser again.

Underground Tunnel

Save your game at the Save Block, shop at the Shop Block, then head right to the next screen. Use your Fire Breath to light the fuse on the bomb here, then step back and let it blow a hole in the wall. Drop down the hole, light the bomb to the left, then head through to the next screen.

Use your Vacuum Attack on the Choomba here if you want the Blitty, then break the ? blocks in here for coins and a Special Fang before taking the lower-right exit. Break the blocks here for more coins and Supersyrup, then take the exit just to the right of it. Break the blocks to find a Chakroad, then return to the previous screen and drop down a level. Bust the block for some coins, then take the exit in the bottom-right corner of the screen.

Head to the lower-right corner of this room, break the block for some coins, then punch the red button to make a bomb appear. Punch the bomb all the way to the left, then light the fuse to blow up the wall. Hit the button again to make another bomb appear. Light it, then let the counter count down a little before you punch it. That way it will explode in front of the crack in the wall. Repeat this process with the last crack so that all three entrances are blown open.

Enter the far left entrance and break the blocks for 100 coins and a Rock Shell. Return to the previous room and take the rightmost exit this time. Break the block for a Cheap Ring, then return to the previous room and take the middle exit this time.

Bust the block to the left for 50 coins, and blow up the bomb here to reach a pipe that returns you to the start of the level, where you can save your game if you like. Otherwise, break through the grey rocks with your slide-punch. Use your slide-punch to cross the platforms, then take the upper-right exit.

After the scene with the drill, you'll control the Bros. Head to the Leg Outpost, watch the cutscene, and get ready to bounce back and forth between the leg muscles. Hold the button that corresponds to the bottom of the two Bros to increase your jumps, and when they split, hit both buttons simultaneously.

Eventually you'll need to hammer the legs at the same time and get the drill through the tunnel in 90 seconds or less. Press A or B, depending on which appears, and be ready to hit both when you need to excite both legs at the same time.

When you make it through the tunnel with the drill, you'll be in control of Bowser again. Head up to the next screen. Watch what happens, and then you'll be in control of the Bros. again. Head to the Pipe Yard for a cutscene, then take the purple pipe to Toad Town.

Toad Town

From where you enter Toad Town's caves, go left to the next screen, then left to the next screen after that. Go up one screen to find Bowser. Watch the scene, then afterward you'll be one screen south. Go back to the right one screen, then take the upper-left exit.

Take the narrow path to a platform with some coins and a Super Nut in blocks. Continue on the path to the upper-right exit, and take that to the next screen. Speak to the Toad here to learn that you can't go farther, so return to the screen just left of the screen you started in. Take the right yellow pipe to the surface.

Head down, up the steps to the left, and left to the next screen. Check behind the tree to the left for some coins in a block, then take the lower path back to the screen to the right. Break the ? here for a Thrift Charm, then go back to the left room.

Get on the upper path again and use your Spin Jump to right the air currents to the cloud above. Enter the pipe, then Spin Jump up the clouds to the top. Head into the upper-right pipe and hit the large shell block to learn the new Shell Block technique, as well as a new special attack: Yoo Who Cannon. Practice it in the tutorial, then head back one screen. Drop down, go back through the pipe, then drop to the ground and head right. Go down the steps and take the pipe back to the caves.

Go left up the ramp then up to the next screen. Head to the upper-right corner to reach the next screen, and use the Shell Block to get a shell. Now have Luigi hit Mario to the ! switch in the water to form a bridge. Cross the bridge and hit the ! block there, the first of three switches you must hit to open the door that actually gets you into Toad Town.

Make sure Mario has a shell, then cross the bridge and head to the upper-right corner of the room. Hit the switches so that the upper-right switch is vertical and the lower-right and upper-left switches are horizontal. Head over the bridge you made and go left to the next screen. Break the ? block in the upper-left corner for some coins, then grab a shell from the Shell Block to the southwest. Have Luigi hit Mario into the water to his the second ! block and the ? block for coins.

Leave the room via the upper-right exit, grab a shell, then hit the switch in the water. Head over the bridge to the three switches again, and hit each one once to make a new bridge. Cross this bridge and the others to reach the last ! block. Hit it, then head up through the door.

Save your game at the Save Block here, and talk to the Toads. Defeat the two Fawflants, then watch the cutscene in the next room with the Dark Star. Afterward, cross the bridge on the right side to find some coins, then take the lower-left exit. Hop up the steps and hit the ? blocks for coins and a Star Candy, then go back on screen and cross the left bridge to reach the next screen.

Jump over the block here, and break the two ? blocks in this room for coins and Super Mushroom x2. Take the upper-left exit to the next screen, then use your Spin Jump to break all six ? blocks here. They yield lots of coins, Supersyrup x2, and Coin Socks. Exit to the right, break the two blocks to the right for coins, then go up and enter the yellow pipe.

Watch the cutscene, then head up to the next screen and save your game. Go right to the next screen, Spin Jump to hit the block for some Star Candy, then go back to the screen to the left. Head up for another scene, then go down one screen and exit left this time. Head down under the pink archway to reach the shopping district of Toad Town.

If your rank is too low, some of these shops might be closed to you, so remember to come back later when you increase your rank. You can help the yellow Toad here to find Mushroom Balls, and you can play Hide and Seek with the little blue Toad kid by the Badge Shop. Buy some new Badges while you're here (the Brother and Excellent! badges are worth their weight in gold for the next boss fight), then enter the pipe in the lower-left corner. Shrink Mario down and go through the gap, then up and right to find two blocks; break them for a Max Mushroom and Budget Charm.

Go back out the yellow pipe and go right to the next part of the shopping district. Enter Dr. Toadley's Clinic to the upper-left and watch the scene, after which you have a boss fight to deal with!

BOSS: Bowser
HP: 1215

Forget about trying to deflect Bowser's punches. Instead, if you see him coming at you, be ready to jump (unless he puffs up first, in which you should stay on the ground. Bowser's got his Fire Breath, and he'll readily use it, so jump over that and grab Starlow's feet until the fire dissipates. When Bowser tosses a ball of Goombas at you, be ready to jump again. If he lights the Goombas on fire, he'll rain them down at you from above, so use your hammer to hit them back. If he holds a ball of Shy Guys, he'll toss them at the Bros, alternating between brothers, so be ready to hammer them back. Finally, when Bowser rolls into a spiked ball, hammer him back. When you're not on the defensive, use your special attacks on him, and keep your HP up to survive.

After the battle, go right two screens. Hit the blocks here for coins and an Ultra Nut, then return to the yellow pipe next to Bowser and enter it. Follow the bug, and after a cutscene, you'll be in control of Bowser again.

Blubble Lake

In the first screen of Blubble Lake, buy what you need at the Shop, save your game, then head left between the purple pillars to find Madame Broque's house, if you want to take on some challenges. Fool around with it, then return to the entrance to Blubble Lake and take the lower-left exit this time. Fight the Beehosses here and use the Vacuum Attack on one for a Blitty. Break the ? block for some coins, then head down to the next screen.

Break the block here for a Hot Drumstick, then head down to find a cage of Koopas. You'll need to rescue these guys, but you can't just yet. For now, take the upper-right exit to the next screen, then go left up the ramp and left to the next screen.

Torch the ropes here to create a shortcut, then go back to the right screen. Go up the ramp at the top and take the upper-right exit. Use your slide-punch to knock down this ramp for another shortcut.

Go back down one screen, break the ? block for 100 coins, then head up the ramp in the lower-right corner. Punch the black sphere and you'll be knocked into the lake.

While you're underwater you can't use your Fire Breath, but you can swim. Hit the Y button to swim higher, and when you need to return to the surface, stand on a pink seashell.

In any case, break the ? block here for some coins, then go right to the next screen. Attack the Crawful here and Vacuum it for a Blitty, then break the block in the upper-right corner for 100 coins. Break the ? blocks in the lower-left corner for more coins and Fiery Drumstick x4, then take the upper-right exit. Break the block to the right for some Supersyrup, then use the pink seashell to return to the surface.

Watch the cutscene that plays, then get on the raft. Punch left, down, left while moving up, then right to reach a little isle of sand. Break the block here for a Rampage Shell, then get back on the raft. Punch left, down, and right to reach the next screen. Get off the raft and approach the ship below. Watch the scene.

You're controlling the Bros again. Head to the Nose Deck and enter the air current with a Spin Jump. Use the stylus to draw lines to move the Bros left and right, pushing the falling pollen into the five nodes on either side of Bowser's nostril cavity. Doing so will cause one node to pop out. Have the bros hit this node to make Bowser sneeze, blowing the boat across the lake.

Back as Bowser, return to the raft and punch to the left, then punch up, and left again to return to dry land. Bust the item block for some coins, and use the Save Block to save. Now go to the ship and the flowers are and you'll revert control back to the Bros.

Return to the Nose Deck, Spin Jump into the current, and bump the pollen around like the first time until you're able to make Bowser sneeze again.

As Bowser, watch what happens with the ship, then move over it and smash the cage to free the Koopas. Doing so allows you to learn the Koopa Corps special attack! Practice with it in the tutorial, then head down the bridge to the next screen. Break the ? block below for 50 coins, then go back one screen and get on the raft. Punch left, get off, then bust the two blocks here for more coins.

Go to the lower-right corner and get on the raft there. Punch left. When you're over the ramp, punch right to head back toward the ramp. Punch down, then left to reach an item block which contains Fury Fangs.

Return to the raft, then punch right, up, left, down, right, up (when you're next to the little island), left, down, and finally right to reach dry land again. Break the block for some Supersyrup, then return to the raft again. Punch left, up, and left (when you see the arrow pointing right). Go right up the ramp and on to the next screen.

Bust the item block in the lower-right corner for 50 coins, then head down the bridge to the next screen. Grab the Retry Clock from the block, save your game, then head right to the next screen and approach the propeller. Watch the scene, and afterward you'll be in control of the Bros.

Perform the pollen-shuffle in the Nose Deck as you did the two times before until Bowser sneezes, then leave and go to the Rump Command.

Save your game, then speak to the purple emoglobin. Ride the boat and get ready to participate in the shooting game. There are more energy orbs to shoot this time around, so be diligent with your shots; get hit three times and you'll have to start over, with a 50-coin penalty!

As Bowser again, you'll grow and grow until you're huge, which is good, since you have to defeat the Tower of Yikk!

BOSS: Tower of Yikk

HP: 508

The idea here is to knock the Tower of Yikk into the water, so keep hammering it with powerful punches. If the Tower fires a giant Bob-omb at you, punch it right back. If several Leaf Guys show up carrying bombs, spray them with your fire by tapping the screen in front of them. Don't tap in front of a Leaf Guy if he's carrying a Mushroom for you! Once you knock the Tower into the water, keep smashing it with punches. If it tries to get out with its rockets, tap it as fast as possible with the stylus to get in as many punches as you can. If any workers try to repair the tower, torch 'em!

Enter the tower now. Buy any items you need at the shop, save your game, then head up to the next screen. Approach the desk above for a cutscene, then stand on the footprints in front of the light for another scene, after which you're back controlling Mario and Luigi.

Energy Hold

Enter the Energy Hold and Spin Jump over the two pits. Jump over the next pit and head right to the next screen. Save your game here, then look up. You can see the outline of some platforms here; they're only visible when Bowser is in front of the light.

Above, you won't be able to jump any higher. That's because in order to see the boo blocks, Bowser has to shut the light off. Do so now to make the boo blocks appear, and hop up to the top. Hit the ! block to open the gate, drop down, then head right to the next screen.

Have Bowser turn on the light, then hop across the blocks until you reach a solid platform. There, have him shut off the light to reveal the boo blocks, and jump across those to the left, Spin Jumping across two boo blocks to the ? block; it contains a Super Nut. Jump right across the boo blocks now and head past the pipes, exiting the screen to the right.

Enter the red pipe to the right here to reach the top of the room, and hit the ? block for a Refreshing Herb. Go left now and drop down. Hit the M block to reveal several coins. Collect them, then shoot back to the top with the red pipe. Jump the gap to the left now and enter the red pipe to reach the hub room of the Energy Hold.

Save your game with the Save Block in the lower-right corner, then hit the Attack Block in the lower-left corner for the first Attack Piece. Now enter the rightmost green pipe.

Head right and watch the moving platforms that only move when the light is off. When they're where you want them to be, turn the light back on to freeze them in place, then use them to reach the right ledge. Move on to the next screen and turn off the light. When the first boo block is all the way to the right, turn the light back on. Jump to it, then Spin Jump to the right. Hop up the platforms to the top, shut the light off, then wait for the left of the two platforms moving vertically to reach the top. Jump to it, then jump over the gaps to reach solid ground with a pipe and flower. Hop up the pink platforms and Spin Jump into the whirlwind to the right to reach a Shell Block. Keep going all the way right to reach a ? block containing a 1-Up Mushroom Deluxe, then return to the Shell Block. Pick up a shell, then walk (don't jump) off the pink platform to the right to land on a smaller platform. With the light off, wait for a boo block to reach your level. Have Luigi whack the shell to the right to hit the nub, releasing the whirlwind below. Get out of the shell and Spin Jump into the whirlwind to reach the exit to the right.

Hit the box here to light up the first of five Star Panels in the main hub. Exit this room to the right, then hit the ! block. Head up the invisible platforms to a block containing a Super Mushroom, then drop down and enter the green pipe to return to the hub. Grab the Star Panel piece there, then enter the leftmost green pipe.

Go right to the next room, which has reflective walls. When the light's on, you can see the outlines of the platforms, and when the light's off, you can see the silhouette of the Bros and any blocks. Be careful when crossing this room, as there's nasty yellow goop spanning most of the floor.

Head to the top of the first wall and hit the two blocks for coins. Make your way down toward the bottom of the room and continue right to the end. Head up the platforms there, and when you can, head left, going around and up to another block. This one contains a 1-Up Mushroom Deluxe.

Go back to the right and Spin Jump over the gap to reach the next wall. Drop down to the block below you for some Hero Wear, then jump back up the platforms to reach the upper-right exit to the next room.

Hit the Attack Block here and juggle it for 4 Attack Pieces, then drop down the other side, hit the ? block for 50 coins, then go right to the next screen.

Hit the box here to light another Star Panel in the hub. Continue right to the next room and hit the ! block. Head up the invisible platforms and hit the ? block for coins. Drop down and enter the pipe to return to the hub. Pick up the Star Piece here, then enter the middle green pipe (the one on the platform above).

Head right to the next room and press Up in front of the gate. Go into the open door and head right. Spin Jump into the whirlwinds to drill through the floor, which teaches you the Drill move! You now have the ability to start collecting beans!

Drill into the ground here and through the gap to the right, then Drill into the red nerve to form some platforms. Jump up to reach a block containing Super Mushroom x2, then head left. Drill the nerve, then drop into the gap. Drill through the gap, then go back through the door.

Head right to the next screen this time and Drill under the block. Drill and jump back out of the shiny spots here to find your first 4 Beans, then Drill through the gap to the right. Hit the nub, then jump up the platforms to the upper area. Drill and grab the 5 Beans here, then go right to the next screen.

Hit the box to release the third Star Panel back in the hub, then go right to the next screen. Hit the ! block, then head up the platforms. Hit the ? block for 50 Coins, the drop down and take the green pipe back to the hub. Pick up the Star Piece, then take the second-from-the-left green pipe to a new room.

Drill to the right to reach the next room. Hit the ? block to the far right for 50 Coins, then shut off the light to jump up the boo block to the platform. Go left and get on top of the two boo blocks, then Spin Jump left. Hit the block for Super Mushroom x2, then return to the central platform and turn on the light.

Take note of the numbers on the blocks (they're random every time), then turn the light off. Hit the boo blocks in the order of the numbers to create a sliding platform. Get back on top of the two stacked boo blocks and Spin Jump right to the platform, then Spin Jump right to reach the exit to the next screen.

Open the door here and enter. Break the three blocks for coins, Star Candy, and Special Boots, then Drill for the 3 Beans in the ground. Head back through the door to the previous screen, then head right.

Hit the box here to light the fourth Star Panel, then head right to the next screen to hit the ! block. Turn on the light and jump up the platforms to the ? block, which contains a Super Mushroom. Drop down and take the pipe back to the hub now. Pick up the Star Piece, then take the second-from-the-right green pipe.

Drill your way right to the next room, then have mini-Mario walk through the gap to the right. Be careful with your jumps here, as each jump always takes you up two levels of the close-together platforms. Hop up the right side of the platforms and hit the Attack Block there. The 4 Attack Pieces scatter throughout the maze of platforms, so go collect them.

After that, jump to the top of the room and hit the two blocks for coins and Supersyrup. Now make your way back around to the bottom of the platform maze and jump up to reach the upper gap on the left wall, taking it to the screen to the left.

Hit the nub here to make a pipe appear, then return to the platform maze room, drop to the bottom, and head back to the screen to the left to rejoin Luigi. Turn on the light here and enter the pipe to land on an invisible platform. Hit the Attack Block to the left and hit the blocks in the correct order (the color of each block matching up with the Bro who should hit it) to receive the last Attack Piece, earning you the Super Bouncer special attack.

Take the upper-right exit to the next screen and hit the box to light the final Star Panel. Head right to the next screen, hit the ! block, head up the platforms to reach the block holding Nurse Socks, then drop down and take the pipe back to the hub.

Pick up the final Star Piece here to form a complete star. Before moving on, enter the leftmost pipe again, go left three rooms, then jump up the platforms to reach the upper-right exit, and go through. Dig up the 5 Beans here, then return to the hub room.

Pick up the completed Star here, then hop up the platforms and open the gate. Head through and watch the cutscene that plays. Afterward, hit the ? block for a Super Nut, then head right and hit that block for Supersyrup. Shut off the light, head past the boo blocks, and continue right for another scene.

After that scene, Drill through to the next screen, which houses many, many pipes. Enter the fourth pipe from the left (the orange one), then have Luigi hit the L Block here to get some coins. Go back up, then enter the seventh pipe from the right (the raised red one). Hit the two blocks for 50 Coins and Supersyrup, then go back up the pipe.

Make sure the light's on, then jump up the platforms on the right side of the room. Spin Jump to the left and use the whirlwinds to reach the ? block on the ledge to the left; it contains 100 Coins.

Now just off the light and Spin Jump right into the whirlwind. Head right to two more ? blocks; they contain coins and Star Candy. Now jump back up and take the upper-right exit to the next screen.

More reflective walls here. Drop to the bottom, hit the ? block to the left for 100 Coins, then head right. Jump up the platforms to reach the platform in the upper-right corner, then Spin Jump to the ? block to the left for a Super Nut.

Drop down to the bottom again and head right to the next screen. Break the blocks here for coins, then drop down and head left via the lower-left exit. Spin Jump over the gaps and you make your way up and left to a ? block with 50 Coins in it. After you get them, drop to the bottom and head left. Hit the ? block for Delicious Gloves. Now head to the right to reach the next screen.

Drop down, then Drill under the Arrow Blocks to make them hit the nerve above. Head right, get the Retry Clock from the block, then head up the platforms to reach another block containing Super Nut x2. Go right, save your game at the Save Block, and make sure you're fully healed.

Head right to the next room, shut off the light, and keep moving until a cutscene kicks in. You'll then have to fight Wisdurm.

BOSS: Wisdurm

HP: 1610

The first thing you'll notice here is the meter in the upper-right corner. This meter measures how close Wisdurm is to becoming normal size. Use your best Special Attacks on her while she's small, as her defense is much lower than her larger version. When she's small, the boss will only swing toward you on a web, so counter this by smacking her with your hammer.

When Wisdurm becomes large, her attacks increase. She'll drop a large crystal heart on one of the brothers (hammer it to destroy it). She'll shoot a rope of stars at you that you must jump over to avoid taking damage. And she'll fire a green blast of energy that can shrink you (use your hammer to deflect it). You can attack her magic wand to shift her meter to the left, but this does no damage. If you're confident about your attacks and winning this battle, ignore the wand and just attack Wisdurm's head, as this is susceptible to damage.

The Star Cure is yours! Head through the doorway, then head to the Joint Tower.

Get in the pipe to launch yourself up, then Spin Jump into the bone screen. Once it splits into three, Drill the three blue spheres. Doing so allows Bowser to learn the Body Slam move.

As Bowser, Body Slam the switch to open the door, and you'll head down to the next room. Go right and Slam the switch to create a bridge to some ? blocks; they contain 100 Coins and Star Candy. Now Slam the switch to the left to reach another ? block, this one containing a Drumstick Ring.

Head down the elevator now and leave the tower.

Blubble Lake, Part 2

Go left, up the bridge, then around the raised platform. Head left to the next screen, then go down and ride the raft, punching up to float down to the next screen. Body Slam the shell switch here to make an item roulette appear, and Slam down to receive the item you land on!

Return to the raft and head up. Go up the ramp, heading right to the next screen, then go down to the next one after that. Save your game here, then go right to the tower and Body Slam the switch there. This creates a bridge, so cross it, going right to the next screen for a cutscene.

Afterward, head up and break the two blocks here for 100 Coins and Supersyrup x2. Go up to the next screen. Head left, breaking the bricks in your path. When you reach the bomb, use Fire Breath to light the fuse and create a shortcut to the start of the area.

Go back to the tower and head right two screens. Body Slam the switch here to make the rock fall, then head up the ramp to the left and stand on the raised platform. Slam it and you'll be launched to the upper ledge. Go right to the next screen, Slam the grey rocks to reach the bottom part of the screen, then Slam the switch to make a bridge back to the last screen.

Head right to reach the Bumpsy Plains.

Bumpsy Plains, Part 2

This is a good time to go back and collect the Beans and items you may have missed, now that you have the Drill and Body Slam moves.

To move on, head up the ramps and go to the upper-left corner of the screen. Burn the bushes there, then Body Slam the cracked ground to reach a secret room. Grab the Heroic Patch and Star Candy from the ? blocks, then enter the yellow pipe in the lower-right corner. Slide-punch over the gap here, then break the ? block for a Minion Band.

Go down one screen, right one screen. Go up the ramp and slide-punch over the gaps, then head up to the next screen. Step up the upper-left ramp, slide-punch over the gaps, and head through the door to Bowser's Castle Path. Save you game here, go up one screen, then head up and under the walkway to the next screen. Head up the stairs and Body Slam the wooden planks to fall down the shaft. When you land, head right and take the pipe to Bowser's Castle.

Bowser's Castle, Part 2

Punch down the bridge, then head right to the next screen, then up to the screen after that. Save your game, then take the upper-left exit to the next screen. Head up and Slam the pink switch to open the door. Head through, and go up to the next screen.

Head up the ramps and watch the scene, and afterward, bust open the rock in the upper-right corner to reveal the Chakroad portal. Break the ? blocks to the left for Supersyrup and a TNT Drumstcik, then head left to the nex screen.

Fight the Jailgoon and Sniffle Thwomp here and use the Vacuum Attack on each for two Blitties. Go left to the next screen, heading down the ramp until you can exit to the screen below this one.

Go down this ramp, and head to the screen to the left, where you'll find Burning Fangs in a ? block. Return to the screen to the right, then go back to the screen above this one.

Ascend the ramps here and exit left to the next screen. Get the Star Candy from the ? block, then exit up to the next screen. Note that the Bros can enter the Flab Zone by having Bowser eat here again. Otherwise, exit the room, go right one screen, and this time, exit up.

Save your game at the Save Block, get the Retry Clock from the ? block, then head right to the next screen. Break the blocks here for coins and Flashy Fangs, then head down to the next screen. Go left and check out the statue. After that, you'll be in control of the Bros again.

Head to the Leg Outpost. Energize Bowser's muscles as you did before, and then you'll be in control of him again. Body Slam the green trap doors (second doors from the right), then break the ? block to the left for 100 Coins. Slam the right trapdoors here, then enter the green pipe to the left to return to the top of the room. Head all the way to the right, then slide off the edge and go right to the next screen. Note the pipe here, which will bring you back near the start of Bowser's Castle.

Don't use it now, though. Instead, go back one screen and take the green pipe back to the top of the room. Body Slam the leftmost trap doors to drop two floors, then exit the room to the left.

Be careful of the lava here! Go down to the rollers and slide-punch left over the lava to reach a small island with ? blocks on it; break them for coins and Supersyrup. Return to the main island here and head left to the next room.

Bust open the cage of Bob-ombs here to learn the Bob-omb Blitz special attack! After you're done with the tutorial, head down to the next screen. After dealing with the enemies here, take the lower-left exit.

You need to avoid the Bob-ombs in this room; if one touches you, you'll be sent to the beginning of the room to try all over again. To get past them, hover over them with the first part of the Body Slam move, then slam down when they pass by. Follow the path left and break the block for a TNT Drumstick, then head back and ride the rollers right. Follow the path at the top of the screen left to the next screen.

Break the ? blocks to the left for Supersyrup and coins, then head down to the rollers. Be careful here, as the Bob-ombs will come at you faster, and you'll be slower, since you're moving against the rollers. Take this path around to the lower-left exit to reach the next screen. Buy anything you need from the Shop Block, save your game, then exit left.

Bust the two ? blocks to the left for several coins, then go left to the next screen. Break the ? blocks here for more coins and Supersyrup, then take the lower-left exit to the next screen.

There's a sign here telling you how to use the platform. Read it, then stand on the platform and do a Body Slam to get it moving on the halfpipe. Body Slam again when the platform reaches the peak of its height on either side to keep it moving until it has enough momentum to reach the other platforms in the room. There's 50 coins on the lowest left platform, a TNT Drumstick on the middle-right platform, 100 coins on the middle-left platform, and an exit to another room with 100 coins on the upper-right platform. To move on, reach the exit on the upper-left platform.

Head up the ramp, break the ? block for some coins, then take the upper-left exit. Punch the bridge here to create a shortcut to a section of Bowser's Castle you visited earlier, then go back down one screen. Take the upper-right exit this time.

Save your game at the Save Block, then head up to the next screen. Slam the switch here to make six lights appear in two sets of six circles below. You must now punch the cannonballs into the corresponding cannons to the left and right. Use a regular punch to knock a cannonball into the cannons closest to the platform, and a slide-punch to knock one into the cannons farthest from the platform. This will open the door, so head through and watch the scene on the train tracks.

In Rump Command, talk to the emoglobin here to save your game, then talk to the purple emoglobins and ride the boat. Like before, you must shoot the energy here to build up enough adrenaline for Bowser to all giant again. Do so, and he'll have a boss battle to deal with!

BOSS: Fawful Express
HP: 885

You have to work quickly here, as you must defeat the Fawful Express before it reaches an old bridge that can't support your weight (note the timer). You'll want to use your Fire Breath as much as possible on the train, as it's weak to fire. When it stops at a station, be ready to tap the circles by Bowser's feet to crush the onslaught of Choombas (watch for a Mushroom, though, and don't stomp that!). When you reach a grey mountain, tap it as fast as you can to avoid being blasted with a missile. Once it's destroyed, you can get back to attacking the train. When you reach the green mountain, you'll need to burn the grey clouds that come swooping in. Burn, then punch the green mountain to crack it so you can get back at the train. When the train rams you, swipe the stylus quickly toward the train to push it back. Finally, the train can sent Montys with jetpacks at you. Punch them to beat them back, damaging the Fawful Express in the process!

Memory Banks

As the Bros, head to the Memory Banks and head right to an elevator. Ride it down, save your game with the emoglobin, then head right to the next screen for a boss fight!

BOSS: Memory M and Memory L
Memory M - HP: 730

Memory L - HP: 845

The really annoying thing about this battle is that, after you kill one of these boss, Memory M or Memory L can revive the other if you don't kill the second boss closely after killing the first! So the idea here is to kill them both around the same time. This can be difficult, because L will often leave the screen, leaving only M to take the heat.

They of course have a bevy of attacks to dodge/counter. If M eats a mushroom and becomes Super M, watch the red and green blocks above him. He'll hit them, sending them flying to the corresponding Bro; hit them with your hammer before they hit you. If M becomes invincible, jump over him as he rushes at you, but don't land on him. Be careful, though: if you see a coin above you, don't jump, as this means M will jump over you. And if a coin appears in front of you, M will go after the other Bro, so have him ready to jump.

L has his own attacks when he's onscreen. If he rushes toward you and trips, launching a hammer at you, hit it with your own hammer to deflect it. If L runs away from a Boo toward the Bros, wait for L to jump over you, then jump onto the pursuing Boo. L's last bit of shtick is to heal himself or M with a mushroom, and there's nothing you can do about it!

As mentioned before, you need to kill M and L near the same time. Try to keep track of the damage you've dealt to them, and don't deal too much to M just because he's onscreen more than L. If need be, just defend a few turns until L returns so you can even out the damage.

After the battle, you must put Bowser's memory back together in a jigsaw puzzle. You can rotate the pieces to fit properly. The finished puzzle is divided by four colors (red in the upper-left, blue in the upper-right, green in the lower-right, and yellow in the lower-left) and should display numbers in this sequence:

First Line: 9 8 9 8
Second Line: 8 8 2 4 1
Third Line: 9 8 3
After some events, Bowser will swallow the Star Cure. Have the Bros head to Gut Check to retrieve it, then exit Bowser via the Pipe Yard. Head to Towad Town to speak to Dr. Toadley to learn that the third cure is at Plack Beach. Talk to the doctor in his respiratory room to test your lung capacity, then head to the clinic lobby for Mario's new air-swallowing move.

Do any other sidequests you feel like tackling, then head to Plack Beach.

Plack Beach, Part 3

Head to Kuzzle's House on the dock near the north end of Plack Beach. He has a puzzle for you to solve (joy). Line up the edge pieces so that the red background is in the upper-left corner, blue in the upper-right, green in the lower-right, and yellow in the bottom left. Once you complete the puzzle, you'll learn the Spin Pipe special attack!

Moving on, head left up the stairs on this screen to the next screen. Break the two blocks here for a Super Nut and some coins, and the other block to the left for more coins. Exit left. Go all the way to the left here to find a Power Bean, then head up the steps to an air vent. Jump into it and float right to a block containing 50 coins. Go back up to the air vent, but this time have Mario suck in the air to become a balloon to reach the upper ledge. At the elevator, Spin Jump to the left to reach a platform with a ? block on it containing Star Candy. Now head right on the path with the two coins on it to the next screen.

Go right near the air vent to find a Special Bean, then use the air vent to balloon up to the platform with a ? block. It contains Flower Gloves. Return to the screen to the left, but this time ride the elevator up to reach the upper-right exit.

Make your way right through this screen to the next one, suck in some air, and balloon your way all the way to the upper-right corner of the room. Exit to the right and break the block here for Mushroom Gloves.

Return to the last screen and drop down the right side to reach a block containing coins. At the bottom, suck in some air and balloon your way to the upper-left corner. Exit to the left.

Hit the ! block here, then follow the coins to the bottom. At the air vent, suck in some air, then head to the air vent in the lower-left corner. Ride them to the upper-right corner of screen, and exit right. Go up the ramp here, save your game at the Save Block, then continue up the ramp to a block containing Star Candy. Continue right to the next screen.

You can't win the battle with Chakron here, so don't even try. Afterward, go left and try to leave. Sounds like you need to head to Dimble Wood! Ride the green pipe down to the bottom of the cliffs. Hit the ! block here, then head right to the next screen. Continue north through Plack Beach to reach Dimble Wood.

Dimble Wood, Part 2

Go right to the next screen, balloon over the wall, head up and left for a Heart Bean, then go right and hit the ? block on the wall for a 1-Up Mushroom Deluxe. Head up to the next screen and hit the Attack Block for the first Attack Piece. Get the Power Bean on the island, then go back down one screen and left one screen. This time, go up to the next screen.

Break the ? block to the left for 100 coins, then get the Heart Bean on that platform. Head up to the next screen, get the Heart Bean on the raised platform to the right, then exit left. Dig under the wooden bars on the left, then go right over the bridge. Break the ? block for 100 coins, then go left back over the bridge and dig for the Special Bean.

Exit left, then go up one screen. Break the ? above for SP Socks DX, the dig for a Heart Bean. Go back down one screen, then go left one screen, then up one screen.

Hit the shell block here for a shell, then have Luigi knock him into the ! block to get access to a bridge. Cross the bridge to reach the Attack Block for another Attack Piece. Jump over the small platforms to reach a block containing a 1-Up Mushroom Deluxe, then dig in the flower patch to the right for a Special Bean.

Go back down one screen and right three screens (to the screen with the Chakroad). Now head up three screens, then right one screen. Jump up the platforms and hit the Attack Block for the third Attack Piece. Hit the ? block for 100 coins, then exit up to the next screen.

Head to the upper-right corner of this screen and dig for a Special Bean, then head right to the next screen. Get on the platform here and hit the block for another Attack Piece. Dig in the area surrounded by flowers for a Heart Bean, then head back to the screen to the left. This time, exit up.

Hit the block on the platforms for some coins, then dig in the area surrounded by flowers to the right for a Heart Bean. Now Spin Jump to the middle platform and hit those blocks for more coins and an Ultra Nut. Spin Jump up from there, then exit north.

Hit the two blocks here for a 1-Up Mushroom Deluxe and Star Candy, dig up the Power Bean above them, then go down one screen. This time, go right to the next screen.

Get on the middle platform here, dig up the Heart Bean, then continue right to the next screen. Exit this screen to the north (through the log), save your game at the Save Block here, then head north to the next screen. Dig up the 2 Beans here, then go back down two screens, then left three screens.

Dig in the bottom-right corner for a Heart Bean, then go down two screens. Dig up the Special Bean in the upper-right corner, then head down one screen and left one screen. Hit the block to the left for an Attack Piece, then head down one screen.

Jump across the columns here to reach the Attack Block, which contains the sixth Attack Piece. Dig below the platform on the left side of the screen for a Special Bean, then head down to the next screen. Dig on the platform here for a Heart Bean, then go right to the next screen.

Dig in the flowers here for a Heart Bean, then get in the pipe to the right to reach the Pipe Yard. Hit the ! block there to open the gate, then take the pipe back to Dimble Wood.

Go left one screen, then up one screen, then right one screen. Hit the blocks here for coins and an Ultra Mushroom, then go back left one screen, then left again. Dig in the lower-left corner for a Heart Bean, then head up on screen. Dig up the Power Bean in the upper-right corner.

Return south to Broque's shop near where you entered Dimble Wood from Plack Beach. Exit that screen to the left.

Go past the Wiggler here and dig above him for 2 Beans. Go left to the next screen and dig in the lower-left corner for a Heart Bean. Shrink Mario down and have him enter the little window in the wall to hit the ! block within. Now have Luigi enter the enlarged window and hit the ! block. Continue left to the next screen.

Jump over the platforms in this screen to reach the exit to the left, and head on to the next screen (we'll be back here shortly). Continue left through this screen, exiting left to the next screen. Watch the scene that plays here, and afterward Luigi will be stuck in the Sockop.

What does this mean? Well, now you can walk around in those brambles you passed earlier. Get the Attack Piece from the block here, as well as the Retry Clock in the ? the upper-left corner.

Go right two screens to the brambles and hit the two Attack Blocks here for 2 Attack Pieces. After you have them, hit the ! block in the upper-right corner. This creates a bridge. Exit north to the next screen.

Head over the platforms to the left for a scene with the Sockops. Defeat them in battle, and afterward, bust open the Attack Block for the last Attack Piece, earning you the Snack Basket special attack! Dig up the 2 Beans in the bottom left and bottom right corners, then go down one screen.

Dig below the Shell Block here for a Heart Bean, then jump over the platforms again to reach the left exit. Dig up the last 2 Beans here, then return to Plack Beach.

Make your way back to Chakron here. When you're fighting him, fill Luigi with goodies and use the Snack Basket slam. Get an "EXCELLENT" rating and Chakron will give you the third Star Cure. Talk to him now and have him take you back to Toad Town.

At Toad Town, talk to Dr. Toadley, who will combine the three Star Cures to form a Miracle Cure that cures the Blorbs! Talk to the nurse at the reception desk to learn the Mighty Meteor special attack!

Time to take on Peach's Castle. Head north through town to reach the path there. Mario will break through the barriers with the Miracle Cure, opening the way forward.

Peach's Castle Interior

Bust the item blocks here for TNT Drumstick x3 and Ultra Syrup, then go down to the next screen. Use the Save Block, then go down to the next screen. From there, head left and take the upper-left exit to the next screen, where you'll have to fight a boss.

BOSS: Blizzard Midbus
HP: 2041

Blizzard Midbus releases four Snawfuls to join him on his first turn. If he tosses snowballs at you, duck into your shell. He'll then drop to the ground and charge toward you with his fist; be ready to counter this with a punch. If Midbus climbs up the right side of the battlefield, duck into your shell as the Snawful toss blocks of ice at you. When Midbus reaches the top of his climb, he'll try to body slam you, so duck into your shell again if he drops on you. If he drops in front of you, punch him before he hits the ground. When Midbus jumps on a large snowball, he'll ride it at Bowser. Keep punching it to knock it back, and punch the Bob-omb stuck in the snowball to make it explode under Midbus.

You'll want to get rid of the Snawfuls quickly, use your Vacuum Attack to suck them inside Bowser for Mario and Luigi to deal with. These guys will throw shovelfuls of snow at Mario or Luigi, so be ready to jump out of their way. Kill them with Special Attacks until Blizzard Midbus stops summoning them.

Airway

You'll now control the Bros, so head to Bowser's Airway. Here, if Bowser breaths in cold air, the water spouts inside him will freeze, and you'll need to use this to your advantage.

In the first room, freeze the spout of water, then jump up to the Save Block. Save your game, then go right to the next screen. Cross this ice-covered floor, breaking the blocks for coins on your way right to the next screen.

Have Bowser back away from Midbus's breath to thaw out the water, then hit the nub above with your hammer to release a block. Freeze everything, then push the block to the right. Now head right, thaw out the room, hit the next nub to make another block drop, then freeze the room and push the block left. Next, climb up the platforms and go left to the next frozen nub. Thaw it, hit it, then head right to reach the green pipe. Enter it, hit the ? block for a 1-Up Mushroom Deluxe, then enter the green pipe to the left to reach the next room.

Climb up and hit the blocks to the left for coins. Now go to the upper-right to find a frozen ! block. Thaw it out and hit it to extinguish the flames in this chamber. Now hit the nub and exit the room to the left.

Hit the blocks here for coins and Supersyrup x2, then freeze the room. Jump up to hit the other ? block for coins, then go right. Hit the ! block to release some water into the bone bucket. Freeze the water, then hit the pink switch to dump the ice block out. Push the ice right, then climb up to the frozen nub. Unfreeze it, then hit the nub to form some cracks above the flames. Create another ice block in the basket, but this time push it left to the cracks. Unfreeze the block now to put out the flames! Now head down and hit the nub to open the exit to the screen to the left. Head through.

Save your game here, then hit the ? block on the platforms for a Retry Clock. Drop down and enter the green pipe to reach the next room, where you'll find the Dark Star eating Bowser's DNA. Create an ice block like before, then push it into the Dark Star to scare it off. Now continue right to the next screen.

Thaw out the room, then jump to the jelly block moving left and right. As long as the room is thawed, you'll stick to this block. Ride it across the goo, then freeze the room so that you can let go of the block. Hop up the platforms to the upper-right corner and hit the block there for Ultra Nut x2. From the highest purple platform, thaw out the room, then Spin Jump to the left to stick to the jelly block moving left and right up there. Ride it across the gap, then enter the green pipe to reach the next room.

Hit the ? block below you here for coins, then ride the yellow block in the lower-left corner back up. Now ride the jelly block here across to the right to reach a ? block containing King Wear. Drop down from there, hit the block for more coins, then stick to the jelly block again. When you're over the line of coins, freeze the room so that you drop down into the center pipe. Take that to the next room.

Dig up the 2 Beans here, then have mini-Mario go through the gap. Freeze the room, then drop to the bottom. Hit the ? in the lower-right corner for coins, then head to the left corner. Unfreeze the room, hit the nub, and break the two blocks for coins and a 1-Up Mushroom Deluxe. Bounce up the bouncy platforms to the upper-right to reach the next nub, and hit that as well. Bounce up to the upper-right corner now to find some Guardian Socks in a ? block. Now attach yourself to the jelly block moving across the top of the room, riding it left to the last nub. Hit it, then return to Luigi. Hop up the platforms and enter the yellow pipe to reach the next room.

Break all the ? blocks here for coins and Ultra Mushroom x2, then take the blue pipe to the left to the next room. Hit the ! block here to open the wall, use the Save Block to the left, then go back down the blue pipe. Now head to the right side of the room and enter the green pipe.

The Dark Star is here now, gnawing on Bowser again. Go right and hit the nub to knock the Dark Star away, then head up the platforms to the Save Block. Use it, then enter the upper green pipe.

Enter the yellow pipe to your left. In the next room, hit the ! block, then go back to the previous room via the yellow pipe. Jump onto the liftglobin to the right, freeze the room, then jump on the platform. Draw a line with the stylus to direct the liftglobin! Be careful as you ascend this room; if you touch the electricity, you'll start over from the bottom.

Head up and left first and break the ? block for a 1-Up Mushroom Deluxe. Continue going up, and follow the path to a ! block, which you should of course hit. This opens the wall to the left. Continue right, then up to two more blocks containing coins and Supersyrup, then take the green pipe in the upper-right corner to the next chamber.

Drop down here to the bottom, and dig up the 4 Beans here. Approach the totemglobin to learn that you must hit eight numbered blocks in sequence in 50 seconds or less to proceed. Freeze the room, then use the liftglobin to plot your course throughout the large room. Here are the directions you should take:

From the start, head straight up to Block #1.
Go up-right to Block #2.
Go up-left to Block #3.
Go up-right to Block #4.
Go down-left, all the way to the far left wall, to Block #5.
Go down-right to Block #6.
Go straight up to Block #7.
Finally, go down-right to Block #8.
Now take the liftglobin to the green pipe above and take it to the next room.

Here you must navigate a liftglobin through an electrified maze. Use short strokes of the stylus to avoid the electricity as you move through the electricity. On your way, hit the two ? blocks in the upper-right area for coins, and when you reach the end, hit the ? for more coins. Drop down now, hit the ! switch to the right, then enter the green pipe to the left to reach the next room.

Climb up the platforms in this room, hitting the blocks on the way for coins and a Max Nut. When you reach the upper-right corner, Spin Jump left to the platform, then jump to the next platform and hit the block for Star Candy. Drop to the bottom-left corner now, hit the ? block next to the pipe for a 1-Up Mushroom Deluxe, then go left to the next room.

Watch the Dark Star slam through the gap here, then follow it through the gap. Enter the red pipe and you'll be launched up. Hit the ! block to open a shortcut, then drop down and go left to the next screen.

Thaw out the room, then bounce up the bouncy platforms to reach the upper-right platform. Hit the ? block for Rugged Socks, then hit the other blocks above the platforms for coins. Continue left through the lower-left red pipe to the next chamber.

You've been here before. Hit the ! block to open the shortcut, then go back through the red pipe to the previous room. This time, exit the room via the upper-left green pipe.

Freeze the room, then jump over the first gap. Unfreeze the room, then drop down the second gap and head right. Hit the ? block for a Retry Clock, then enter the yellow pipe. Return to the second gap, but jump over it this time. Stand over the ? block and jump straight up to hit two invisible blocks. Drop down the gap and go left to dig up 2 Beans. Drop into the yellow goo now and you'll be launched onto the invisible blocks you hit. Head right to the next room.

Hit the two blocks to the right for Star Wear and Supersyrup x2, then drop down to the floor. Hit the two blocks to the left of the Save Block for a 1-Up Mushroom Deluxe and a Max Nut. Save your game, then enter the bottom-right green pipe.

Here, go right, hit the ! block, then enter the chamber to battle the Dark Star!

BOSS: Dark Star
HP: 1248

Like most bosses in this game, Dark Star has backup: Satellmites. These guys can charge toward the Bros and fire lasers at them; just jump over the laser blasts. You'll need to destroy the Dark Satellmites with your hammer (or special attacks) in order to deal with Dark Star. Once you bash the second Satellmite, Dark Star will release a Bob-omb as the Satellmite rushes toward a Bro. Don't bash the Bob-omb, bash the Satellmite so that it hits the Dark Star, lowering its spikes. Immediately lay into it with your best special attacks. The Dark Star will fight back, rolling toward a Bro and firing a laser at him; jump over the laser to avoid taking damage. When the Dark Star is about to go back into its spiked phase, it will trigger a black hole, sucking the Bros toward hit. Rapidly tap A and B to avoid being sucked in.

One attack you will want to look out for is when the Dark Star clones itself four times, then obscures much of the screen. The five Dark Stars will then roll toward one of the Bros, but you won't be able to see them after they start rolling, so you'll have to guess when to deflect the Star with your hammer. They will always roll at the same speed, so get used to the timing. The Dark Star can also form four colored (red or green) spheres around its body that it will fire at the Bros (red spheres at Mario, green at Luigi). Jump over these. If the Dark Star whites out the battlefield, you'll see silhouettes of Mario and Luigi as the Dark Star emits a laser. Press the corresponding jump button to make your silhouette dodge the laser, because if the shadow takes damage, so does the real Bro it represents! When the Dark Star starts drawing in blue energy, you'll know it's about to release a huge blast of energy. Jump up and hold onto Starlow's feet, and don't let go until the energy beam dissipates. This energy beam will also poison whoever it hits, so avoid it like the plague.

Keep knocking the Satellmites back into Dark Star to lower its defenses so you can get in your special attacks, and eventually this boss will be no more (for now...bwa ha ha...).

Peach's Castle Garden

From the first screen here, go north to the next screen. Dig up the Power Bean in the lower-left corner, then jump up to the right and go right to the next screen. Drop down here and dig up the Heart Bean to the right of the steps below. Jump up to the first step, dig up the Power Bean there, then continue up the steps into the tower.

Exit the tower via the other door, then drop down and hit the block for coins. Hit the Shell Block here, then have Luigi smack Mario into the Attack Block to the left for 7 Attack Pieces. Watch the scene that plays afterward, then pay 300 coins to learn the locations of the three remaining Attack Pieces.

Drop down, head up the steps again to the wall, then go left to the next screen. Hit the ? block for coins here, then continue left to the next screen. Drop down to the right of the shrubs, then head north and dig in the flowers for a Special Bean. Now go down to the gap under the shrub and walk all the way down to find a Power Bean to dig up. Head back through the gap, then down to a grey block. Use that to reach the top of the shrubs. Hit all the ? blocks on the shrubs for coins, Supersyrup, and Ultra Mushroom x2. The Attack Piece is also up here; go left from the block you obtained the Supersyrup from and go down at the first "intersection". Just before the "path" splits again, jump up to hit the invisible Attack Block.

Now drop off the left side of the shrub and hit the block for more coins. From there, walk north under the arch to the next screen.

Hop up the blocks and shrub here, then take the lower-right exit to the next screen. The door here in the courtyard is locked, but try it anyway. Dig up the Special Bean up and right of the lower-left statue and the Heart Bean down and left of the lower-right statue.

Go left back to the previous screen and jump up the blocks and shrub to the wall. Spin Jump over the gap to the tower above, then exit the tower to the right. Follow the wall right to the next screen, jump to the upper level, and hit the four blocks on this wall for a 1-Up Mushroom Deluxe, coins, Ultra Mushroom x4, and a Super Nut. Now follow the upper level left to the previous screen.

Hit the ? block here for coins, then go right one screen. Continue right to reach a small gap. Have mini-Mario go through to reach the next screen.

Break the block to the left for coins, then climb up the platforms to the wall. Break the other blocks in the upper corners for coins and Ultra Syrup, then return to the wall. On the long horizontal part of the wall that crosses the room from left to right, jump up a little to the right of the indented part of the wall to find another Attack Piece. Now exit the room to the right.

Break the two blocks here for Star Candy and Surprising Socks, then go back to the previous screen, then down through the small gap to return to Luigi. Follow the wall left and down to the lower level, then go left to the next screen. Enter the tower, exit it to the south, then drop down.

Dig up the 2 Beans in the lower-left corner, then go up and drill through the small gap to reach the archway leading to the next screen.

Jump up the blocks here, then suck in some air and balloon to the upper pillar. Jump straight up to hit the invisible Attack Block and claim the last Attack Piece, earning you the Falling Star special attack. Drop off the pillar now hit the nearby ? block for coins, then go down one screen.

Dig up the Heart Bean to the left, then drill through the upper-left gap again to reach the previous screen. Hop back up the blocks, then Spin Jump to the bottom-right pillar. Dig up the 2 Beans there, then Spin Jump right over the gap. Enter the tower there, then exit it to the right.

Hit the two blocks here for a POW Glove DX and Ultra Syrup, then go back through the tower and drop down. Head north to the next screen.

Climb the gold steps to the right and Spin Jump right to reach a shrub. Hit the ? block on the right side of the shrub for a Retry Clock, then drop down and hit the block there for coins. Continue right to the next screen, then head right and exit this screen going down.

Jump up onto the grey block here, then into the gap to find a block containing 100 Coins. Drop down, then go right and take the lower-right exit down to the next screen. Hit the ? block here for coins, then go back up one screen. Head back between the statues and under the grey wall, going up to the next screen.

Head left one screen, then head all the way to the left. Take this route into the tower. Save your game with the Save Block here, then go up to exit the tower. Have Mario gulp down water from the pipe here, then have Luigi smack him to extinguish the flames. This releases a whirlwind. Spin Jump through it to reach the screen to the right. Go down the steps here to face a boss!

BOSS: Junker
HP: 1445

The Junker is accompanied by three Junker Cans and has a few attacks you must learn to deal with. If he tosses a can lid onto a Bro's head, the Bro will start running back and forth as a Thwomp follows him overhead. When the Thwomp locks on to the Bro, have the Bro jump away to avoid the plummeting Thwomp. If the Junker tosses Luigi into one of the Junker Cans, attack the Junker Can Luigi is trapped in to free him. Note that the cans can shift their contents, meaning you may have to attack multiple cans to free Luigi. If you destroy the wrong can, it will release an enemy you'll have to deal with; use your hammer to knock them away. If the Junker tosses a small ball of garbage at a Bro, jump on to it. The Junker will then throw a larger ball of garbage at the Bro, so jump off the small ball and onto the large ball. The Junker will then charge at the Bro, so jump off the garbage as the Junker rams into it. If the Junker grabs a can and dumps out an enemy, jump over the enemy as it scurries off the screen. If a Junker Can runs at you, put your hammer away, then pull it out at the last second to bash it before it hits you.

Don't bother attacking the cans unless Luigi is trapped in one. Instead, focus all your attacks on the main Junker, using special attacks until it's finished.

After the fight, dig up the Special Bean on the grass platform, then go down the ramp and south into the tower. Exit this tower to the left, then hit the ! block to open the door. Now to back to the tower and enter the pipe. Go back through the pipe and try to leave the tower for a cutscene. Now take the pipe back to Bowser.

Head to the Lumbar Nook and get in the center of the nook. Dril down into the tumor until you hear a chime, indicating the surgery is complete. Watch the scene, and afterward you'll be in control of Bowser, who has learned the Spike Ball move!

Use your Spike Ball to roll up the sticky yellow wall, then head down to the next screen, and then down to the next screen after that. Bash the Fawful statue here to reveal a Chakroad, then roll up the tower to the second floor of Peach's Castle.

Peach's Castle, 2F

In Spike Ball mode, roll around and destroy all the statues here. After that, break the lower-left block for 100 coins and the block up the right wall for TNT Drumstick x2. Exit the room via the upper-left exit.

Bust the statues here, break the blocks for more coins, then move left to the next screen. Break this ? block for Ultrasyrup, then head left to the next screen. Watch the scene with the three keyes here, then continue left to the next screen.

Head left through this room to the next. Roll up this wall to the ? block above, get the Retry Clock from it, then drop down and head left to the next screen. Ascend this wall to find a Wicked Shell in the upper-right block. Chase the Red Key on this wall, then smash the machine to obtain the Red Key.

Go back to the right three rooms and open the red door with your red key to learn the Magikoopa Mob special attack! Now go down to the next screen.

Use the Save Block here, then hit the block behind the statues here for coins. Go to the upper-left corner now to find a key in a device. Follow it left to the next screen. Roll up the wall here and take the upper-left exit to the next room. Go right one room and Body Slam the shell switch here. Now head down to the next screen, which you passed through earlier.

Go down (via the bottom-right exit) to the next screen, roll up the lower-left wall, breaking the item blocks for coins and TNT Drumstick x2. Approach the key behind the statues, then follow it up to the previous screen. As before, take the upper-left exit, then head right to the next room. Chase it down to the next screen, then down two more screens.

Bust the block here for coins, then head up the red ramp, walk down, then slide-punch right over the gap to reach the exit going down. On the next screen, roll onto the spikes, then roll left into the green plunger. Once the plunger is pushed all the way left, it will launch you into the key's machine, netting you the Blue Key.

Take the middle door up to the next screen now. Break the ? block for some Ultrasyrup, then head up to the next screen. Go right two screens.

Ascend the ramp here, then Body Slam the shell switch to launch yourself to the high ledge. Break the block here for a Power Band +, then exit the room the way you came in.

Spike Ball up the platforms here, then take the upper-right exit to the next room. Exit this room to the left to find three item blocks; break them for lots of coins and Supersyrup. Go down to the next screen, then down to the next screen after that.

Approach the key here and it will flee. Spike Ball over the spikes to reach a shell switch, then slam it to launch up. Head down, slide-punch over the gap to reach the cornered Green Key. Grab it, then roll out of the spikes via the dirt behind the stone wall. Take the lower-left exit to the next room.

Bust the block here for 50 coins, then go up two rooms, left one room, and up one room to the locked door room. Open the green door to obtain the Economy Ring, then open the blue door. Bust the block here for a TNT Drumstick, then head up to the next screen.

Roll onto the green plunger, but only push it about halfway (pushing it all the way in will fling you past the door you're trying to reach). This should drop you near an item block containing coins. Return to the spring and push it a bit less than halfway so that you end up on the right side of the screen. Continue right to the next screen to find a ? block containing Supersyrup. Grab it.

Return to the previous screen, get on the plunger, and push it a little over halfway this time. You want to drop into the first hole on the upper-half of the room. If you find that you're going too far, press Right as you pass the door to slow down. Drop down and take the door up to the third floor. Grab the Stamina Band from the block, then go back down to 2F. This time you want to drop into the last alcove. Press the plunger most of the way in to reach it, then head up to 3F again to move on.

Peach's Castle, 3F

Save your game here, then go up to the next screen. Head right two screens, break the block for some coins, then head right to the next room.

Break the block here for coins, then roll up the wall in Spike Ball mode to reach a Restore Ring in a ? block. Now roll to the platform to the right. Roll into the gear cylinder there to raise the gate, then quickly roll along the wall and through the gate before it drops! Now move left to the next screen.

Continue through this room and left to the next. Get the Star Candy from the block, then return to the previous screen and go up to the next screen. Head left to find a ? block containing Max Syrup, then drop down and head left to the next screen.

In your Spike Ball, roll on the green treadmill next to the barricade to open it. Once it's down, punch the red button on the bomb machine to spawn a bomb. Light the fuse, wait for the counter to reach "3," then punch it so that it explodes in front of the cracked wall. Once that's done, head left of the bomb machine to the next screen.

Roll up the wall here, then take the upper-left exit to the next room. Break the three blocks here for 100 Coins each, then drop down and go left to the next screen.

There are Bob-ombs walking on the rollers here, so you'll need to hover over the Bob-ombs with the Body Slam move as they pass under you. Make your way over the rollers to reach the upper-right exit, and take that to the next screen. Continue right to the next screen after that.

There's another treadmill here, so roll on it in your Spike Ball to lower the barricade. Get another bomb from this machine by hitting the red button, light the fuse, wait for the bomb's counter to reach "3," then punch it so that it blows up the cracked wall. Take this new path up to the next screen.

Get the Retry Clock from the ? block up and right, then head up to the next screen. Save your game here, break the block to the right for coins, then go up to the next screen.

Another plunger room! Pull the plunger to half-strength and release to reach the exit to the room to the right. Break the block in that room for 100 coins, then return to the plunger in the previous room. This time, pull the plunger back all the way and release to get launched out of the castle.

After the scene, you'll be in control of Mario and Luigi. Head to the Chest Station and enter the pipe. Use the stylus to pull the band here until it's taut, then release it. Bowser jumps when the band flies to the top of the chamber. Pull the band less for smaller jumps. Use the band to roll through the piranha plants, pulling the band away from them and releasing it to do this. Avoid the Chain Chomps along the way! At the top of the tower, hit the larger plants with multiple jumps, staying as close to the plants as possible by snapping the band repeatedly. Once the plants are destroyed, you'll be in control of Bowser again.

Head right one screen and down one screen. Bust the blocks for 100 coins and a TNT Drumstick, then roll on the treadmill to open the door. Instead of going through the door, go back up one screen, then left two screens. Body Slam the cracked floor here to fall through.

Open the door to the lower-right, but don't go through. Instead, take the lower-left exit. Break the block to the right for coins, then roll down the stairs and go down to reach the interior of Peach's Castle.

Peach's Castle Int., Part 2

As Bowser again, head down two screens. Save your game at the Save Block, then drop down off the ledge. Get the Retry Clock from the block, then head up through the center door to the next screen.

Spike Ball up the left platform here, then slide-punch to the right one and hit the ? block for Special Fang SP. Hit the other blocks in this room for coins, then head up to the next screen. Break the item blocks to the left and right here for coins and Star Candy, then take the upper-left exit to the next room.

Go up the left ramp, then slide-punch from platform to platform, breaking ? blocks as you go for Ultra Syrup, Star Candy, and 100 coins. Now take the lower-left exit to the next room. Punch the green block here to lower a ramp, then go up to the previous screen. Take the lower-right exit, then take the upper-right exit.

Bust the ? block here for coins, then leave the room and go down two more screens. Save your game at the Save Block on the upper-left ledge, then go down to exit this screen.

After a scene, you'll be in control of Mario and Luigi. Head to Rump Command and talk to the first emoglobin, then the last one. Get on the boat and complete the adrenaline-shooting minigame as you have before to blow Bowser up to giant size again to take on Peach's Castle!

BOSS: Peach's Castle
HP: 1488

Punch the castle as much as possible, and use your flames on it to get a Mushroom. Peach's Castle has a nasty habit of pushing Bowser into the giant black hole on the left side of the screen with its two guns. When this happens, swipe the stylus left to right to get out of the hole before he starts to lose HP. The castle will occasionally send out flying Mechawfuls. Use your Fire Breath to torch them and damage Peach's castle in the process. Blow hard into that mic! When the castle charges you, you'll roll up into your Spike Ball, so draw circles with the stylus to knock the castle back toward the black hole on the right side of the screen. Just avoid slamming into the castle when spikes protrude from it, or you'll suffer some damage yourself. Eventually the castle will get pulled into the right-hand black hole. When this happens, get sucked into the left-hand black hole, wait for the spikes on the castle to momentarily retract, then launch yourself across the battlefield into the castle to finish it off.

After the scene following the battle, go back into the castle and save your game. Now drop down and go up through the middle door. Go up to the next screen after that, and when Fawful flees, follow him through the upper-right door. It is in that room that you must defeat him!

BOSS: Dark Fawful
HP: 1736

Dark Fawful's vacuum helmet is a real pain in the butt. Using fire attacks on Dark Fawful is useless when he's wearing it. He can use it to swing from the ceiling toward Bowser (punch him when he gets close). It can also heal him for 120 HP! Use Special Attacks on Dark Fawful until he loses the helmet, then use your own Vacuum Attack to inhale it!

The Bros will have to deal with the helmet now. It will try to suck away the Bros' Special Attacks and Item Command block, so jump on the helmet to retrieve them. Another thing it'll try is to attach a rope to one Bro, then swing him at the other Bro like a hammer. Have the Bro who isn't attached to the rope jump onto the makeshift hammer to stop the attack. If that hose points straight up, red and green energy balls will move through the hose. Be ready to deflect them with your hammers when they fly toward the Bros (Mario hitting the red ones, Luigi the green ones).

Dark Fawful still has plenty of mean attacks to hit you with. When trails of stars swirl around the battlefield, you'll see that one is a bright pink. When it turns purple and the stars lower toward Bowser, duck into your shell to avoid getting hit. When the pink-now-purple star is close, stand up and sock it! When Dark Fawful opens up four holes in the space-time continuum and starts throwing energy balls into them, you'll have more attacks to deal with. If he tosses energy into the left hole, duck into your shell. If the energy goes into the right hole, punch the energy when it's right in front of Bowser. When Goombas appear on the screen, punch them toward the boss to deal some damage (as long as they don't hit the spheres circling him). Use special attacks whenever you can to whittle down his HP.

After the battle, you'll move on to the final area of the castle, the tower.

Peach's Castle Tower

Get the coins, TNT Drumstick, Refreshing Herb x3, and Max Syrup here, then head up to the next screen to find Dark Bowser. You'll get into a fire fight with him, so hit the X button as fast as you can to win this little skirmish!

After that, you'll be in control of the Bros again. Head to the Chest Station and enter the pipe. Here you must help Bowser bash Dark Bowser five times. Pull back on the ball, then let go. Try to pin Dark Bowser near the top of the chamber. Once that's done, you must get Bowser to the top of the tower, so keep snapping the band to launch him up, up, and up!

Save your game here, and break the blocks for coins, TNT Drumstick x3, Star Candy, and a Retry Clock. Before you head up, exit this screen to the left. Roll down this yellow wall, checking the nooks to the right for items (Star Candy and coins). At the bottom, exit right, then go right one more screen to another yellow wall. Roll up it, checking the alcoves to the left for coins and a Max Syrup. When you reach the top, go left to the next screen.

This is it, the final stretch of the game! Save your game for the last time here, and if you want to go collect the final items in the game as Mario and Luigi, do so now. Otherwise, make sure Bowser's fully healed with max SP, then head up two screens to find Dark Bowser. Time to kick his butt!

FINAL BOSS: Dark Bowser/Dark Star Core
Dark Bowser

HP: 1000

Dark Bowser has four main attacks, and you'll want to be ready to deal with all of them. When he tosses a boulder into the air, lights it on fire, and rains it down on you in three columns, he'll start charging up his fire breath. Block the middle column of rocks by ducking into your shell, and punch the rocks in front of you into Dark Bowser's mouth to stop him from charging his fire breath. When he tries to hit you with a series of punches, counter with your own punch, then get ready to duck into your shell when he dive-bombs you. He may send a shockwave at you after this, so punch it. When he drops a cage around you, punch your way out of it. Finally, when the Dark Star Core inside Dark Bowser makes him huge, he'll throw a ball of his minions at you. If they're Goombas, punch them or use a Koopa Shell. If they're Koopa Shells, punch them out of your way. If they're Bullet Bills, duck under them in your shell. If they're Bob-ombs, punch them. And if they're Thwomps, duck into your shell. As for offense, ignore Dark Bowser's head and punch his gut. While all this is going on, watch for the vacuum block in your battle menu to start flashing when Dark Bowser spits out the Dark Star Core. This is the sign to use your Vacuum Breath to suck in the core so that the Bros can deal with it!

Dark Star Core

HP: 1560

To get to the core of the Dark Star Core, you must first destroy its outer shell, which consists of its eyes and appendages. It has a few attacks to worry about. If it sends blasts of energy at you via its arms, bash them with your hammers. If it grabs the bros and holds them up, jump to avoid the resulting energy wave (or just stand there if it flies above or below you). And if the core comes flying at one of the Bros, jump to avoid it as soon as you can. Attack the shell's eyes with Jump Helmet, then go after its appendages with something like Snack Basket. Once the shell is destroyed, then all you'll have to worry about is the actual Dark Star Core. It can fire an energy beam at you, so avoid it by jumping and holding onto Starlow's legs until it stops. Its other attack involves a spear that it will swing around and send flying at one of the Bros. Jump over the spear as it swings around, and when the core flings the spear at Mario or Luigi, counter with your hammer. As for attacking it, use your best Special Attack (if you've collected a lot of Power Beans, the Spin Pipe move works great). You'll want to work quickly, because if you take too much time to kill the core, it will leave Bowser's body and return to Dark Bowser, fully reviving his HP!
