As you will notice this FAQ/Walkthrough isn't complete yet. There's still a lot
of research to be done, information needs to be gathered and confirmed. So if
you have information that isn't mentioned in this FAQ/Walkthrough or see wrong
information please write me and I will add it to the FAQ/Walkthrough. Full
credit will be given of course :)

My email adress is [email protected], please put MQ in the subject line.
Thank you.

What I want from you [WINFY]
*******************************************************************************

What I want from you: everything that isn't mentioned yet in this FAQ.

I don't expect anyone to write a whole article about any aspect of the game.
But if you can give pointers and clues, if you noticed something unusal, write
me. I'll follow all clues.

I want to include a section about online play. If you can provide any
information on how to do it and what you can do while visiting another town,
feel free to email me. What kinds of games can you play online? Can you send
your visitors on a treasure hunt, hunting the items you buried for them? Can
visitors interact with students of the town they are visiting? Can you go
shopping in other towns? Can they take furniture from the hosts room or raid
the the treasure chests in the haunted house?

A section about the gameplay needs to be written. Why you should interact with
the other students. Why you should take care of your town.

The spell and incantation lists need to be completed, as well as the magic
linguistics list. If you want to contribute please write down the entire
lesson.

Some research needs to be done to fully understand the prices in the shops.
When can you buy things really cheap and when shouldn't you sell items because
Malila will offer a very low sum for them.

What do all the icons in the safe at the bank stand for?

How much interest do you get when you deposit your money at the bank?

Do you have information about the mysteries? Any clues or hints? Write me.

I'm thinking of adding a column to the bug tables, telling where exactly you
can catch the bug. Does it sit in trees or on treehouses. Does it hide in
flowers or crawl on the ground. If you can contribute, mail me.

Caught something that isn't covered in the bug and fish tables? Tell me. Got an
item for a bug or a fish and it isn't mentioned yet in the reward tables? Tell
me.

Found a way how to catch something that is easier then the already mentioned
methods? Tell me.

2. Getting started! [GSTART]
*******************************************************************************

Start the game and choose the option Enroll to create your character.
The game takes you into the Room of the Beginning and End to Principal Sol. He
welcomes you and asks you for your name, your birthday, your gender and which
school you want to attend. He also let's you choose the appearance of your
character. There is a barber shop in town, so you won't be stuck forever with
your haircut.

When you are satisfied with your appearance and the data you gave you will be
warped into the dormitory where Reginald is already waiting for you.

Reginald is a pumpkin headed man and in charge of the dorm. He lives behind the
counter and gives you helpful tips for the life in town. He'll also notify you
whenever Principal Sol wishes to talk to you. But right now he'll shows you
your room in wich you will live for the next year. Reginald is also a very nice
man who gives you a house warming gift. A beige wardrobe. It might not be the
greatest gift you ever got but for now keep it and put it in your room. Press L
or tap on the symbol in the upper left corner, then drag the wardrobe into the
room. Stand next to it and press B to move and turn the wardrobe till you found
the best place for it.

Doesn't your room look great now? Blue striped carpet and wallpaper and a beige
wardrobe. Lovely. Fear not - there's a shop in town where you can purchase
furniture and items to decorate your room after your own taste.

But right now there's nothing left to do in your room. If you want to have a
quick look at your town map then press SELECT and tap on the purple house
symbol. Tap on the icons on the map to see what it is and who lives there.
Once you're done leave the room.

While you're there check out the dormitory. You will find several doors in the
dormitory as well as a trash bin and a conservatory.
The game allows you to create four characters, each character will move into a
room with a colored door. You can enter the rooms of the other players or use
them for yourself. Use them as storage or extra room.

On the right side of each dorm is a brown door that is closed most of the time.
You can open the door directly after you started the game. You will be randomly
warped into the appartment of a fellow student.

On the right side of the first floor you'll find a trash bin. Oddly enough you
open it by pressing A. The trash bin will never be emptied, so use it to store
stuff.

The purple door on the first floor takes you to the room of an exchange
student.

The purple floor on the second floor is the door that leads to the Gateway of
the Beginning and End. Use it to activate Mystery Time, to travel abroad or
allow visitors into your town and to save the game.

Go up the stairs and you'll be in the conservatory. Decorate it with flowers
and furniture you bought at Daisy's and Harrows. Come here with fellow students
to learn or drink tea. Remember to water the flowers you planted in this room.
Berry bushes and trees won't grow here.

When you saw enough go and talk to Reginald. Tell him that you've seen enough
of the dorms and he'll takes you to the school. Before leaving you Reginald
reminds you of coming back to the dorm to collect your schoolarship funds.

Principal Sol is waiting for you, so hurry in.

After greeting you Principal Sol takes you up to the classroom. He gives you
your first wizard's hat and a magic staff! Finally, you're a wizard/witch!
Now find you a seat and listen closely what principal Sol tells you.
Once the class is over you're free. The game releases you from it's grab and
let's you decide what you want to do. You can save the game, go and explore the
town, talk to your fellow students or take more lessons.

The blue speaking bubbles over the head of your fellow students will give you
clues about what they want to speak with you and in what mood they are.

Introduce yourself to the other students, then leave the room. Do you remember
what Principal Sol just told you? That he will teach you the basics of the
game? He still stands outside of the class room, so talk to him again and take
the next class with him. About staffs.

You will have to take the 8 basic lessons with Principal Sol before you can
take regular classes to learn spells. Before I summarize the basic lessons I'll
tell you what happens during a class.

What happens during a class:
============================

- The teacher will tell you about the subject of the class.
- A student might pass you a note. You can read it or not. If the teacher
catches you reading a note he will ask you a question about the subject of
  the class.
- At the end of each class the teacher will ask one question. To answer it
press A. If you don't want to answer it wait a bit till the teacher chooses
a random student. It could be you or one of the other 3 students.
If you answered the question correctly every student will commend you and
you'll get a note on your attendance sheet. If you gave the wrong answer the
students will be dissappointed with you and you won't get a note in the
  attendance sheet.
- After each class the teacher will give you a stamp on your attendance sheet
to confirm that you attended the class. This isn't true for the basic
  classes.

Remember that you can repeat classes by speaking to the teacher and choosing
"past class".
With that out of the way we go straight back to principal Sol and his lessons.

The 8 basic lessons:
====================

- To transform your staff press the R button.
- Shops are closed during certain hours and you need money to buy things.
- Magic linguistics are used for spells and talking to creatures. They are
  sorted into 6 categories.
- Rotate clockwise to transform a wizard. Rotate anti-clockwise to transform
back. Spells always begin with the magic rune.
- Incantations always begin always with the incantation rune.
- Press START to bring up your wizard chart. Collect 10 small stars to get one
big star. For every big star you get a present from principal Sol. To get
stars solve mysteries and attend classes.
- To exchange students bring them to the Gateway of the Beginning and End.
Or go alone to visit another town or to invite someone into your town.
- To learn a song listen for a while until you get the message that you
learned the song. Now you can play the song on an instrument or whistle it.
To find out the title of the song talk to Piquard in Harrows. You can also
  order the song there.

Now you've finished all basic lessons you can start taking lessons from the
regular teachers, Mister Oakley who teaches you spells, Miss Strawe who teaches
you incantation and Mister Vlad who teaches you magic linguistics used for
talking with creatures.

The spells, incantations and linguistics are listed in section 5.

The teacher on duty will change every new hour. You will only have 3 new
classes each week. Classes will change every Sunday.

Now let's explore!

*******************************************************************************
2.1 Exploring the town!
*******************************************************************************

Your town is divided in different areas. The actual town with shops and an
appartment house is east of the school. The beach which is north of the actual
town. Here you can fish and catch insects. Charlies Noodles will be here during
the afternoon- and evening hours of the day. You have to go to the beach to get
to Lover's Point and the island.
Then there are the plains, a big area parted by the river. Many students live
here in tree houses. You'll find the bank and the postoffice here, as well as
the dormitory and the libary.
In the west you'll find the forest and the small Fungi Forest. Somewhere deep
in the forest you can find an old graveyard and a haunted house. And north of
the graveyard you'll find the cave.

The School of Magic [SOM]
*******************************************************************************

On the first ground you'll find the teachers lounge, the toilets which are
strictly seperated for boys and girls and the message board.
Let's have a look into the teacher's lounge on the left side of the hall. Here
you'll find Miss Strawe, Mister Oakley and Mister Vlad. If you talk to them
they give you good advise and let you check your attendance sheet.
Additionally each teacher will allow you to alter one thing related to the
school.

Mister Vlad will let you change the school uniform which all students have to
wear. Perhaps you already noticed that girls wear a red jacked and boys a blue
jacket? Mister Vlad allows you to decide what uniform everyone should wear.

Miss Strawe allows you to redecorate the school room. Buy chairs, desks,
carpets and wallpapers at Harrows and give them to Miss Strawe. Think twice,
once you give Miss Strawe an item you won't get it back. And you can only give
her items that are designed for school.

Finally Mister Oakley let's you adjust the timetable to your needs. School can
start either at 8am and end at 8 pm or start at 0 pm and end at 12pm.

Back in the hall you'll notice a message board on the right side of the door.
Leave messages for other players and read the news about your town, events and
special sales. Check it daily.

On the right side of the stairs you'll find the restrooms. Girls can only enter
the girls restroom, boys only the boys restroom. If you fail to save the game
before turning off the DS several times Reginald will make you clean the
toilets.
If you want to meet the Phantasm go to the restroom.

Go upstairs and then take the left stairs. You will enter the trophy room.
Whenever you solved a mystery you'll get a trophy which is put on the shelves
and the book updates itself with your newest adventures.

Go back and take the right stairs to enter the auditory.
Evaluations will be held on the stage. During Mystery Time fellow students will
hold a garage sale here. 2 random students will offer 2 random furniture from
their houses for trade. The item you offer will have to be of the same size and
value. An item that is two spaces big can only be traded for an item that is
two spaces big and roughly of the same size.

Next to the auditory you'll find a room stuffed full with strange things. The
skeleton that hangs there and snores is Mister Grave. He wakes up during
Mystery Times and holds extracurricular lessons on the place south of the
fountain.
The big organ allows you to play music and to compose your own town tune. The
town tune can be heard every full hour and whenever a class starts and ends.
The locker holds one pattern for trousers, skirt, jacket and robe. You can
design your own clothes and allow your friends to wear them. Of course you can
wear those clothes yourself, but remember, if your dressed in your own patterns
and decide to wear a clothe bought from Vivian's Boutique the clothe will
return to the locker and not go into your inventory.

There's a rumor going around about a mysterious figure which only shows up on
clear Saturday nights.

Opening Times: all day

The prices at Harrows change through the day.

OpheHon of GameFAQ's wrote:

I am trying to keep track of the stores prices these days (for a week) & found
that they usually go up after 5pm. Same for Flower shop & clothing store. I
forgot to check the price for the wig in the salon. Also, even the prices in
the morning are cheaper in the morning, it doesn't mean it is the cheapest. If
there is anything special you want, you better mark down the price & wait till
it show up again to see. So hard to keep track. There seems to be 4, 5
different prices for an item.

                                   *********

The Emporium
============
This is the most important shop in town. To buy things you have to earn Ritch,
the currency of your town. And there are only 2 shops in town where you can
sell items.

shop searching for potion ingrediences. You can help her if you want. Tell her
that you want to work for her and she gives you a list of 3 items she urgently
needs for a potion. She will pay double price for the igrediences. The first
time you bring her one of the three items she will give you an additionally
1000 Ritch and a free sample of the potion she is making. Afterwards she will
continue to give you 100 Ritch everytime you bring her ingrediences she needs.
Every Sunday she starts making a new potion.

Charlie's Noodles

this opportunity to hear what your fellow students say about you or other
affairs.

Talk to him to learn how the berry market, something like a stock market, is
doing at the moment. He gives you the current development for free, for an
exact analysis of the berry market for the next days you will have to pay.
He offers a prediction for 100, 500 or 1000 Ritch. The most expensive
prediction is naturally the most accurate one.

You can invite a student to eat noodles with you.

On the east side of the beach you'll find Lover's Point. Lover's. It's the
place where couples go, and friends who want to bewitch someone to fall in love
with them.

Don't ever plant flowers around the heart under the bell. They will wilt and
die.

The bell rings for the first 5 minutes every hour starting at 4pm and ending at
12am.

See the carpet on the eastern edge of the cliff? Stand on it to call the taxi
to the Island.

                                   *********

The Island
==========
Every Sunday you can meet the Pirate here and battle him. You can fish here and
catch bugs. And every day you'll find a berry on the ground.
Don't ever plant flowers here, they will wilt and die.

                                   *********

The Plains [PLA]
*******************************************************************************

There's so much to see and do here! The plains are bounded through the southern
boarder of the school territory, the eastern and southern wall of the land and
the forest in the west.

The Dormitory
=============
The dormitory, or Strange House as it's called is already covered in section 2
[GSTART]. You can invite in other students to show them your room and go up to
the conversatory with them. There you can drink tea or learn together.
When you are in your room you might here some noise and the camera will zoom
into the right wall. When that happens leave the room and enter the room next
to yours. One of the students is at home and did something unusual.

Once in a while you will get a key from Principal Sol. Use it on the door of
the Gate of the Beginning and End to activate a Mystery Time. Should you hear a
knocking you won't be able to activate a Mystery Time. Some scheduled Mystery
Time is bound to happen in the next days.
Use the Gate of the Beginning and End to learn your Friend Code, to visit
friends or get visited and to exchange students.

You can download gifts via Wi-Fi. Talk to Reginald, he will hand them over.

                                   *********

The Bank

store items in the safe.

Opening Times: 9am - 12am

                                   *********

Postoffice
==========
Tom the cat allows you to write telegrams to your friends. Sending a telegram
costs 500 Ritch. If someone writes you a telegram it will be delivered to the
dorm. When you leave your room you'll find one of the smaller cats standing in
front of your door. The cat will read the telegram to you and hand it out
afterwards.

Opening Times: 9am - 12am

                                   *********

The Plaza
=========
You'll find Mister Grave on the small round place in front of the Fountain.
Here he'll gives extracurricular lessons during non-forced Mystery Times.
Events like the tea party will happen here.

                                   *********

Library
=======
Another very important place. This is the place where you will spent a lot of
time. Principal Sol seems to live here, sitting enthroned on a huge pile of
books. Climb the stair of books to talk to him. You can ask him for a new key
to activate the next Mystery Time or ask him to evaluate you.

At his feet you will find two books chained to two tables. The left one, the
green book, will register all fish you caught. To register a fish talk to the
book and choose "Register a fish". Then hold the fish you want to register. The
book will eat the fish and give you, depending on size and kind of the fish, an
item that you can either keep or sell to Malila.
If you want to see what kind of fishes you already caught choose the option
"View Fish".

The right, the green, book will register everything you caught with a net and
give you items as reward.

Behind the fish book you can see a staircase leading up to the roof of the
library. You can find Principal Sol here at night. He will explain the star
constellations to you and tell you how they influence you. You can look through
the telescope if you want but it's rather pointless.

Opening Times: all day

                                   *********

The Pond

The crescent-shaped pond is surrounded by broken stone pillars. Come here if
you want to fish for frogs or cast the invisibility incantation.

The Forest
==========
In the north-west corner of the plains you'll find the Forest. Strange trees
grow here.

                                   *********

Fungi Forest
=============
When you go up the stairs that lead to the Forest keep going north in a
straight line and enter Fungi Forest through the black hole in the bushes.
Many mushrooms grow here and during the day hours you'll find Charlie's Noodles
here.

Charlie's Noodles
=================
Charlie from Charlie's Noodles is another character you will see a lot. Stand
in front of the bench to eat Noodles for 300 Ritch per bowl. While you're
eating your noodles Charlie will tell you about any rumors he has heard. Use
this opportunity to hear what your fellow students say about you or other

Opening Times: 6am - 4pm

                                   *********

If you leave Fungi Forest and keep following the path nortwards you will find
the Graveyard and the Haunted House.

The Graveyard
=============
A small graveyard. Shade rests here, under the biggest tombstone. To talk to
him press A while standing in front of it.
Be careful, at night the ghost from the Haunted House leaves the house and
chases you through the forest. If he gets you he'll warps you back to the
dormitory.

                                   *********

The Haunted House
=================
Always dark, always infested with ghosts who chase you from room to room. But
you will keep coming here a lot for 2 reasons. First, there are 3 treasure
chests hidden in the house. One of them is randomly choosen and filled with a
furniture every Sunday.
And second, cat Sith, a travelling tradesmen opens his shop on every day that
is divisible with 3.

Cat Sith
========
Enter the Hounted House and go through to the dinning room. Behind the upper
left door you'll find cat Sith on every day that is divisible with 3. He sells
rare furniture, he buys clothes and furniture from you. He is in charge of the
berry market and buys the berries from you. And he buys furniture that is said
to be rare in the neighbour town. Talk to him to learn what kind of furniture
he is looking for.

Opening Times: all day on every day that is divisible with 3

                                   *********

Invisibility
============
If you cast this incantation, the people around you won't be able to see you.
And, when you're invisible, you might hear people gossiping behind someone
else's back.
First, you'll need a crystal, so make sure you have one ready. Then, after
going to the ruins in the west, transform into a wizard and chant the magic
linguistic spell. Next, walk once around the ruins so that the stones placed
around this area start to light up. And finally, by moving to the center of the
ruins and holding the crystal in your hand you should be able to cast the

Magic Linguistics taught by Mister Vlad [MLMV]
*******************************************************************************

Type
====
In today's class we are going to learn about the different categories of magic
linguistics. Magic linguistics is divided into six groups.
These are: Basic, Who, Do, What, Where, and When.
When you want to use a magic linguistic, it would be wise to know the category
it belongs to.
By remembering what magic is in what category, you will improve in your studies
much faster.

                                   *********

Rise
====
Today, we will look at some magic linguistics that can be learned easily and
often. Yes, there is one type of magic linguistics that you can acquire many
times. And that is... the name of a classmate. By speaking with a classmate
just once you can add their name to the list which appears under Who.
So, if there is anyone you have not talked to yet, you might want to have a
chat with them.

                                   *********

Greeting
========
In today's class, we are going to discuss how to greet someone.
First of all, if you cannot give a proper greeting, it will be difficult to
make friends.

Example: You - Who?

If a stranger starts talking with you, using the magic linguistics You and
Who?... Which magic linguistic will you use to reply?
At such a time, if you answer with Greeting or Friend, everything should be
okay. The other person will then feel comfortable.

                                   *********

Feelings
========
In today's class we are going to talk about how to express your feelings.
If you do not show your feelings properly to other people, then you might be
misunderstood.

Example: Me - Happy
         Me - Sad

Look at the blackboard. You can combine these magic linguistics to show how you
feel right now. Me and Happy when you feel good. Me and Sad when you feel down.
Me and angry when you are mad.
It's really very simple. And you can ask another person how they feel by
changing Me to You.

Example: You - Happy - Question
         You - Angry - Question

Then, for example, with You and Angry, you can ask them if they are mad about
something.

These are very important magic linguistics. Be sure to study them carefully.

                                   *********

Their Feelings
==============
In today's class, we are going to discuss other people's feelings. To
understand how someone else feels, you need to memorize some magic linguistic
combinations.

Example: Friend - ?
         Want - Mushroom - !

Look up here. To express strong feelings, other people may use these magic
linguistics often. So, for example, if they say Friend and ? they are asking if
you are really their friend. This means they are a little worried.
Or, as written on the blackboard, if they say Want, Mushroom, and ! they are
telling you that they really need a mushroom.
Be sure to review this material carefully so it is easy for you to reply when
you are spoken to.
Because it helps you understand others' feelings, these are very important
magic linguistics. They will be useful when you want to express your won
feeling clearly, too.

8.2 Catching Bugs [CABUG]
*******************************************************************************

Konami says that everything that can be caught with a net is a bug. So please,
don't blame me for this very simple classification.

Bugs are everywhere. They hide in flowers, they hide in trees. They fly through
the air and sit on tree houses. You can find them crawling on the ground and
running around during Mystery Time, like the mandragora.

The mandragora is a plant that looks like a green carrot. You remember the
dandelion like weeds in the plains and in the forest? The mandragora tries to
resemble these weeds. But you can tell them appart by the colour of it. Normal
dandelion like weeds are a different shade of green. It's safe to pluck them.
The green of the mandragora is different from them. If you see a funny looking
dandelion like looking weed don't plug it! If you pluck it the mandragora wakes
up, screams and warps you back to the dormitory.
You can only catch them during Mystery Time, when they leave the earth and run
around.

Another hard to catch bug is the sky fish. Go to the beach during Mystery Time
and wait. A whistling will announce the coming of the sky fish. You can't catch
the sky fish that flies on the upper screen of the DS. You'll have to wait till
a sky fish flies on the touch screen.

Here are some tested methods from GameFAQ's users:

ianflow:

Finnally! I caught it! I caught it by using slow bug. I use it whenever I try
to catch a really hard to catch bug.

game_man16:

I just caught it, first time, I was also facing the land and not the sea, I was
in the middle of the dark shoreline. It made more sense to face the land
because of the way your character swings the net, this method does work, and it
works perfect

ThadBarr:

Eventually, after taking a long and hard look at my shoreline, and the Sky
Fish's flight path, I came up with a new idea. I positioned myself on the far
left of the ocean, north of the path to Town, almost at the edge of the water,
but just a little bit in towards the beach. Then I faced AWAY from the Beach,
TOWARDS the land. With this new spot, I caught the first Sky Fish that flew by
on my first swing.

Since then, I have caught four more, and not missed once. This new technique is
definitely working for me. Think about it.

Thanks guys! And here are the tables.

9. Rewards for caught bugs and fish
*******************************************************************************

Trade bugs and fish for items at the library.

I'd also like to thank the people from http://www.enchantedbros.com/ for their
permission to use the information of their reward table.
I took the liberty to split up the table, there's just no way to create a table
with 9 columns if the wide of the FAQ is fixed with 79 signs.
I sorted the tables after the reward you get. Since you can't see how big a
fish or bug is until you caught it, it makes no sense to sort them after size.

School Regulation, Item 99... [SRI99]
*******************************************************************************

Having to clean a room at school because you turned off the DS without saving
can be bothersome. Not because cleaning is no fun, but because the spots are
close together. And Reginald punishes you if he thinks you don't work properly
or thinks that you tried to leave the room.

Don't go to close to the door. Clean one spot, then move on to another spot,
preferably one that isn't close by or Reginald might think that you clean the
same spot over and over again. Keep wiping three times over every spot (press
A), then move on.

There's still a lot of work to be done. All the Mysteries have to be solved,
all classes have to be taken, item- and student lists have to be written.
A section describing online play would be nice. And I think I can think of many
more sections and tables for this FAQ >.<
But for today I'm done.

If you want to contribute, if you want to give hints or tell me of things you
noticed please write me at [email protected] and put MQ in the subject line.

Thanks!
