1. Introduction
---------------------------------------------------------------------

Welcome to my first FAQ. Lost in Blue 2, a great survival RPG for the
DS. I've noticed that many people have been having trouble with
completing their Picture Books, so I decided to make a Picture Book
FAQ for this game. I hope this helps you all.

---------------------------------------------------------------------
2. Updates
---------------------------------------------------------------------

Version 0.8: Nearly done with my Picture Book, just need a few more
things. I'll update this FAQ when I find them.

---------------------------------------------------------------------
3. What is the Picture Book?
---------------------------------------------------------------------

The main goal of this game, besides escaping the island you are on,
alive, is to complete your Picture Book. When you collect a new
item, whether it is a fish, plant, or material, make a piece of
furniture or a tool, make a recipe or kill an animal, it is added
under the respective section in your Picture Book. You will also
notice that many items in this guide can only be found when diving,
you willbe able to dive when you get to Beach 4 (the beach after the
Ruins)and when you are on the beach and the tide is low, at the
northernpart you will be able to walk onto a rock in the water
and yourcharacter will mention that they may be able to dive there.
Afterthat, there will be 3 places you can dive, Beaches 1, 3, and 4.
Well, here is my guide, I hope it helps you.

(Note: All lures except for the special lure can be made when you
catch a fish in the lake at night, as for the special lure,
apparently you have to catch 30 Arowana, Black Bass, and Striped
Breakperch. If you don't want to go through the trouble, you can
just complete the game with any ending and start serious survival,
where you can make all lures from the start)

2. Tree Bark
Thoroughly-dried tree bark. Needed to make a fire starter. (Found
from some trees)

3. Leaf
This leaf is large and durable, making it very hard to tear. An ideal
material for making furniture exteriors.

I can use this as lumber. I'll need a lot to make large furniture.
(About 6 can be found in the jungle, they take about 2-3 days to
come back)

5. Stick
A sturdy, wooden stick. Very useful material for creating tools. It
would be a waste to burn it. (Found at several trees)

These twigs are dry and pretty straight. They can be used as firewood
or for making tools. (Found at almost every tree, during and after
hurricanes, you can find a lot of them)

7. Large Bone
We can get these from large animals. Used to make fishing hooks and
weapons. Very light and durable, giving it extra value for
tool making. (After you cook large animal meat, it will be on the
ground near where you go to cook)

8. Fur
I have to shoot large animals to get this. It's soft and warm, so
I'll bet I can use it to make nice beds.

9. Stone
This kind of stone is common and easy to find. They can be used to
make fishing hooks and weapons. (Found on the left-hand side of
every beach except Beach 4, though they take 2-3 days to respawn)

Straight and very flexible. It can be used as a stick, or split
and made into baskets. Very useful material. (Head into the
jungle and go all the way right, then go south when you see a
pathway, you will be back at Beach 3, and you will find some
bamboo there)

11. Feather
A light, well-shaped bird's feather. Attaching feathers to the
shaft of an arrow will make it fly straight and aim will improve
considerably. (Found after you shoot a duck, pigeon, or chicken, or
after a hurricane when you are staying in the House in Beach 4)

12. Lard
Lard obtained from hunting. Can be used as a fuel or for deep
frying food.

pretty hard to come by. (Found on Beach 1 and Beach 4 after a
hurricane, and also found when diving)

---------------------------------------------------------------------
6. Fish: A list of Fish and Shells and where to find them

A large one-sided clam found attached to rocks. It has a bumpy
textured shell which is packed with meat. A delicacy with a wonderful
crunchy texture. (Found when diving)

2. Short-neck
The most commonly found clam along the beach. It makes the best
tasting clam chowder. You'll need milk, vegetables and spice in order
to make it. (Search the mounds of sand on the beaches)

3. Clam
The meat is plump and fleshy. It's on the large side for a bivalve
clam. It should be good either grilled or in a soup.
(Found when diving)

4. Scallop
A larger-sized clam, it lives deep in the ocean so it is hard to
get to. The best chance to get them is when the tide ebbs. It's full
of nice juicy meat. (Found on Beach 3 when tide goes down_

5. Oyster
It's supposedly called the "milk of the sea". Tasty and full of
nutrients. I heard you can eat these raw, but are the ones on this
island's okay? I don't want to get sick so I'll cook them instead.
(Found on Beach 3 at low tide, or when diving)

6. Freshwater Clam
You can find lots of them where the river and the ocean meet. It's
a smaller-sized clam. It tastes good when made into soup. I wonder
how many I need in order to be full. (Found same way as Short-neck)

7. Seaweed
Seaweed is washed ashore. A rather easy food supply to obtain. Full
of fiber and minerals, it tastes good when added to soup.

8. Red Sea Urchin

eat it while it's fresh for a surprisingly delicious flavor. A true
delicacy of the sea. (Found when diving)

(Note: You will need a lure to catch most of these fish)

This fish doesn't have a strong pull so it is a rather easy fish to
catch. Tastes good when grilled or dried. (Fish or spear on the left
side of Beach 2 at low tide)

10. Striped Breakperch
A fish caught along the shore, which has a distinct white and black
stripe and a strong pull. (Fish at night at the right side of Beach 2

delicate meat, which is good grilled or fried. (Spear in the ocean

spines so it's tough to prepare and doesn't have much meat on it.
Tastes good as soup. (Spear or fish anywhere on Beach 3)

13. Moray
It has jagged sharp teeth which can hurt you badly if bitten. Despite
having a harsh and grotesque appearance, it has a light, delicate,
tasty white meat. (Fish on the left side in Beach 3)

14. Sardine
It swims in schools close to the surface. It doesn't have a strong
pull so it's easy to catch. It doesn't fill you up, but it tastes
good when dried. (Fish or spear in Beach 2)

15. Sting Fish
A fish that lives near the shore who often nibbles at any bait. It
has a large head, large mouth and bulging eyes, but it tastes good.
The sting from it's fin really hurts. (Fish in Beach 4 or the left
side of Beach 1)

It has a hard, rough skin so you need to skin it before preparing
it. It has a light, delicate, tasty white meat. The liver tastes
exceptionally good! (Fish in the center of Beach 2)

17. Flatfish
It has a strange shape with both eyes on one side of its head.
This tasty delicacy has a firm flesh. Tastes excellent pan-fried.
(Fish in the center of Beach 4)

caught. It tastes good in any dish, simmered or broiled. (Caught
this one on the right side of Beach 3 at 5:20am)

19. Parrot Fish
A large colorful fish with a hard, strong beak. Sometimes it will
cut the fishing line. (Fish near the center of Beach 4)

20. Black Nibbler
A fish known for it's long tail which gets longer as it ages. The
big ones have a strong pull, and often escape. (I caught this one
against the cliff in Beach 2-not in the area that can only be
accessed during low tide-at about 11:00, and it was high tide)

21. Yellowfin Goby
A fish often caught near the river's mouth. It's protruding lower
jaw comes in handy when digging a hole to lay eggs in. (Caught
this one fishing at about 11:00 in the south side of Beach 3)

This fish is called by different names at different stages of it's
growth. A great catch when lure fishing. (Fish in Beach 4 at high
tide)

23. Sweetfish
It can only be caught in a clean river. It is said that if there
are Sweetfish in the river, then it must be clean. Good to grill
with salt! (Spear or fish in the left side of the river east of
your cave in Beach 1)

24. Catfish
Caught in the river. I guess it must live at the bottom because
it has a funky smell. Great when fried. (At night, go to
the north side of the lake. There is a large area of land extending
into the center of the lake. Stand at the right side of it and fish
there)

25. Black Bass
This fish lives in calm, fresh waters. I think it eats small fish.
It's meat is delicate and white. (At night, in the field after
the jungle, fish near the river's mouth)

26. Arowana
A large, ancient fish that lives in the river. I think it eats
small fish. Large and filling, but doesn't taste so great.
(After you first reach Beach 4, go back into the Ruins and follow
the path south. Eventually a large earthquake will start. After
that, go to Beach 2, and on the left side, there is an area that
can only be accessed at low tide. Follow the path there and you
will see an opening, enter it, and you will be in another Ruins.
There are 2 small block puzzles there. Solve the one on the left,
and you will come to a small lake, fish there to catch this one)

27. Carp
Lives in calm fresh waters with little or no current. Need to
clean off the mud or it smells funky. Should taste good boiled.
(In the ruins mentioned above, head up the center path until you
reach the small lake and fish there)

28. Eel
This long, freshwater creature is easier to catch at night. Hard
to grab because it's skin is slimy. Fatty and very good when
skewer broiled. Highly nutritious. (Fish in the southern part of
the lake at night)

29. Crucian
This freshwater fish is relatively easy to catch. It's flat and
has little meat. Not enough to ease my hunger. (Fish or spear
in any river or in the lake)

30. Char

active on rainy days. Better go out when it rains to catch these.
(Stand in the center stepping stone in the field and fish or

pink color. (Fish in the southwest river at the lake)

caught. It's main features include a big, long body and huge mouth.
(Fish in the right side of the underground lake in the ruins at
Beach 2)

34. Rainbow Trout
Known for the rainbow pattern running along it's scales. A popular
catch when lure fishing. Tastes great when pan-fried to a golden
brown! (Fish in the eastern river at the lake)

---------------------------------------------------------------------
7. Animals: A list of all the animals in the game
---------------------------------------------------------------------

(The 3 crabs, the lizard, and the tortoise are randomly found
when touching the ground around your feet

1. Hermit Crab
This strange little creature with a top shell can eventually be
foundon the beach when searching long enough. Getting it out of the
shell is not an easy task, but it tastes great in soup.

2. Sand Crab
A small crab often found when searching the beach. Not much meat,
but grind it up shell and all, then put it in soup for a treat.

3. Coconut Crab
A crab with big pincers which lives around the mangrove. Break it's
hard shell to eat the meat. It's delicious!!!

4. Tortoise
A tortoise found in the jungle that moves slowly and is easy to
catch. Now, how should we cook it? As a soup? Or maybe roasted...

5. Lizard
Reptiles that can be caught in the jungle. I can handle eating them
now that we're out in the wild. It actually has a nice light taste.

(The Pit Viper and Tarantula can not be caught, but when you touch
your feet, if you see a ! in the upper left corner of the touch
screen, it means one of them is approaching, but beware, if
they bite you, you will be poisoned)

6. Pit Viper
A dangerous, poisonous snake. Rarely attacks unless provoked, but
it's bite is very harmful.

7. Tarantula
A large, poisonous spider covered in hair. Looks quite dangerous at a
glance, but it's poison is actually not that harmful.

8. Boar
Large animal found in the grasslands. It digs in the dirt searching
for roots and bugs to live on. It's very strong and is hard to bring
down. A boar can be dangerous if you're not careful.

13. Rabbit
Lives in burrows out in the grasslands. The meat is very tender with
a delicious light flavour. (Also found in Beach 3)

14. Field Mouse
Set a trap in the grassy areas to catch one. Although there's not
much meat, it's tender and delicious. Even mouse meat is an
important food source. I'll eat it to survive.

15. Pigeon
A average bird found in wide grassy areas. It only has a little
light-tasting meat on it, it's good roasted or boiled.

16. Goat
Large animal found in the grasslands. If captured, it can be
domesticated and milked. The milk is very nutritious. I should
try out some recipes using milk.

17. Lynx
A nocturnal animal found in the grasslands. Looks like a large
cat and lives off of smaller animals. There's a lot of meat
on this one. (In LiB 1, you needed arrows with a sharpness of at
least 7 to kill this animal, I think it still applies to this game)

18. Squirrel
A very cute animal that can be trapped in grassy areas. The meat is
very tender and delicious.

19. Wolf
A fierce member of the canine family. The fur color will vary
depending on where it lives. (After you fight your first wolf,
they can be found at night in that same area or in the grasslands)

20. Tiger
An animal belonging to the feline family with orange and black stripes
running across it's body. Unlike lions, the tiger usually travels and

21. Alligator
Has a long jaw and tail. It's body is protected by hard scales,
and it'ssnout and eyes pop up out of the water.

22. Gorilla
Pounds on it's chest to scare off enemies. This makes a sound like
a drum, hence the name "drumming" given to this action. (The
gorilla gives you several key items, to get them, if you are
playing as Jack bring Amy to thejungle to see him, if you are
Amy, just go see the Gorilla. You will thenbe able to walk up
to the gorilla and either "talk", "give item", or leave. Talk to
him 4 times until he is very close to you, then choose "give item".
One of 3 symbols will appear over his head. For the blue one,
give him a pineapple, give him a lunchbox for the green one,
and for the ! give him a necklace)

23. Great White Shark
This shark is well-known for it's tendency to attack humans. If it's
razor-sharp teeth happen to sink into you, it's all over. (When

the screen, hold your stylus on it and the shark will pass you by)

---------------------------------------------------------------------
8. Plants: A list of the plants found on the island

until I eat it and wait a bit. Better remember which mushroom I ate,
though.

though.

9. Chives
Wild grass found in the grasslands growing in clusters. It has a
pleasant aroma and works great for spicing up dishes.

10. Bamboo Shoot
Young bamboo that grows in bamboo groves. It grows very fast, and
hardens once it gets large enough. I better dig them up while they're
still young and tender.

11. Carrot
Wild carrot that grows in the grasslands. It tastes like a regular
carrot although the root is small.

but sweet and delicious. It can be used in a variety of recipes, but
makes your eyes water when dicing it.

15. Potato
Wild potatoes that can be gathered in the grasslands. Use in salads
or try making baked potatoes. A very useful vegetable. Green buds on
the potatoes are toxic and need to be scraped off.

16. Radish
Small radish that grows in the grasslands. The edible portion of the
root is small.

17. Taro
Member of the potato family that grows wild in the jungle. Filling,
and full of nutrients. Definitely a good find.

lot of liquid inside. When ripe, they develop a thick, white "meat"
which is full of oil.

recover energy and face the next day.

into the cave, you don't even need your partner, just go to sleep
where you want to move into, and they will be there the next day)

6. Raft
If I build a raft with some logs and rope, I'll be able to cross the
lake on it! (I think this one takes 9 Logs and 9 Rope)

7. Raft 2
If I build a sturdy raft that is stronger than the last one, with
some logs and rope, I'll be able to cross the ocean on it!

---------------------------------------------------------------------

made by certain characters. I can't remember who can or can't make
what for EVERY recipe, sorry. If a recipe doesn't work with one
character, just try the other one.

12. Special Thanks
---------------------------------------------------------------------
I couldn't have created this FAQ without help from the Lost in Blue 2
Message Board users, especially Levyjl1988 for creating a topic that
had a lot of information to help me with this guide and Stormfeather
who created a topic that had a lot of recipes, and MaRKiS007, for
giving me a link to a Japanese website which helped a LOT. Thanks
Bloody Warrior for the e-mail of where to find some of the items,
and Destinychan, without your "inferior mad Chinese skillz", I would
still be stuck trying to figure out how to light that pillar in the
jungle. Also, thanks to Konami for making this awesome game.
