First, let me congratulate you on planning or already buying, in my opinion, one of the greatest games. This is not a translation guide to the game, although I will be translating anything that needs it in order for the English crowd to understand. Jump Superstars is a Japanese-only 2D fighter game in which you fight as and against characters from a wide selection of manga (Japanese comic books) from the popular magazine Shonen Jump. The reason why it wasn't brought to English or any other language speaking country is multiple ownership of these comics in those countries. But we don't care about that, since if your reading this, you already know that. ~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~ In The Beginning........There Were The Basics This FAQ is to help you, the reader, and hopefully, a video gamer, get the most out of the game. This looks at the battle system, which i will quickly go over, so if you already know, skip this next part: Imagine a page in a comic book, with the page being split into 20 equal squares (4 by 5). Now, to set up a team, each battle character you want on there will take up 4-7 squares (depending on how strong they are), plus you can have a wide variety of characters to summon into battle to do a quick to semi-quick attack on people, each of these taking up between 2-3 squares, called support characters, and then every character has a single square that can be used, called help squares, while not summoning anything on the screen, will help in other ways, giving you boosts to a variety of places (speed, healing ability, temporary invincibility, etc.). In the game and for the rest of this FAQ, a square is called a koma. While in battle, to use a character/ switch to a different battling character, you use the interactive bottom screen on the DS. Now, this FAQ specifically looking into 3 separate and yet connected komas that you use to create a special attack, which when you press any of these will call a second battle character for you both to do an attack on an opponent, called a tag-team attack. Most battle characters, when paired up, will do an attack that they would do if you had pressed their 2 or 3 support koma (There is no difference, I have found, in tag-team attacks, if you use a different size battle koma). But there is a catch, there are a couple tag-team ups that actually does an entirely new attack, that look pretty cool. Specifically, this FAQ looks at the different pairing ups that work, whether they are special or not. When setting up the help komas that activate the tag-team attacks, the three komas must be in contact on the set up screen, forming a line, whether in an L shape or a line. Each end of the 3 komas must come into contact with a battle koma, you will see what i mean since at either end will have little flashing arrows. To activate the attack in a battle, you just need to tap any of the 3 squares. For the purpose of this FAQ, i will list the symbols for each different manga that is in the game, so people can find the characters listed here easier: Football (Rugby for British players): Eyeshield21, Strawberry: Ichigo 100%, Black hat: Katekyo Hitman Reborn!, Ice Cream Parfait: Gintama, Golden Badge: KochiKame, Bowl with steam: Shaman King, Blue hat: Jojo's Bizarre Adventure, Green ball: Steel Ball Run, Basketball: Slam Dunk, Silver pendant: D. Goku (Dragon Ball Z) & Naruto (Naruto) Naruto and Goku charge up their ultimate attacks and firing it as a single attack that when it hits an opponent enlarges and mows them and any other opponents near them, causing damage. Sawai edition Oshirisu no Tenkuuryuu Yugi (Yu-Gi-Oh) & Bo-bobo (Bobobo-bo Bo-bobo) Bo-bobo strikes a pose as his afro opens up and Yugi stand up from inside it and summons Osiris (Slifer The Sky Dragon for the English fans) to do a giant beam attack Double Final Flash! Don Patchi (Bobobo-bo Bo-bobo) & Vegeta (Dragon Ball Z) Vegeta and Don Patchi stands and they attempt to do Vegeta's attack, both dressed as sayan warriors (for the DBZ fans), but Don Patchi becomes and projectile and slams into the opponent, causing them to become confused. Gomu Gomu no ORA ORA!! Jotaro (Jojo's Bizarre Adventure) & Luffy (One Piece) Luffy and Jotaro appear side by side (Jotaro with Star Platinum), and proceed to punch the heck out of anyone that happens to get into the attack. Recommended for any and everyone, especially early on. Death Spirit Bullet!?!? Tsunayoshi and Reborn (Katekyo Hitman Reborn!) & Jaguar (Pyuu to Fuku! Jaguar) Jaguar sleeps for a second before being shot by Rebirth by a rebirth bullet, causing Jaguar to freak out, after which you get 10 seconds of invincibility, plus restoring your blue special bar if the entire attack goes through (although it causes no damage) Reading While Standing Paradise!!!! Gintoki (Gintama) & Kakashi (Naruto) Kakashi and Gintoki share Kakashi's copy of Icha Icha Paradise, gaining 10 seconds of invincibility and restoring the blue special bar at the end of the attack (again, no damage) Okane wa Watashi no Tameni Aru! Ryotsu (Kochikame) & Nami (One Piece) Ryotsu chase after Nami who is riding away from him on her bike, carrying a giant sack of (presumably) stolen jewels and money, hitting anyone that they run into and causing them not to be able to use the Y and B buttons Daigo Kougetsu Kiba Yoh (Shaman King) & Ichigo (Bleach) Yoh combines his DaiGokouJin with Ichigo's Gatsu Kiba Tenshou, causing a gaint cross of black and white slashes to race across the screen. Kannagi Chikarazoufuku Reimaru Anna (Shaman King) & Yusuke (Yu Yu Hakusho) Anna empowers Yusuke's Rei Gan, causing it to grow larger than normal and may cause blindness when it hits Sharingan World Dio (Jojo's Bizarre Adventure) & Sasuke (Naruto) Sasuke throws shurikens and Dio throws homing daggers across the entire field, causing everyone everywhere in the battle damage Wing Cross Shot Allen (D. Grey-man) & Eve (Black Cat) Eve fuses into Allen's arm to power up his attack and add her own feather's to the attack, firing a barrage of shots, ending in a gaint blast at the end Ncha Hame Ha Arale (Dr. Slump) & Gotenks (Dragonball Z) Gotenks and Arale open their mouths wide open and shot spit-beams out. Fusion Potsumabou!! Dr. Mashirito (Dr. Slump) & Piccolo (Dragonball Z) Piccolo and Dr. Mashirito do the fusion dance together and fuse into one, yelling their butts off, casting angry hurtful words, and i don't mean emotionally hurtful. Prevents character changes W Janken!!! Gohan (Dragonball Z) & Gon (Hunter X Hunter) Gon and Gohan use their empowered puches to send whoever gets in their way flying and may cause blindness Hansei shi tadde, Shaanaruu!! Sakura (Naruto) & Robin (One Piece) Robin pulls in the opponent with powerfull grabs and Sakura releases her Inner-Sakura's fists of fury Enchant! Mellorine Kiss Kazuki (Busou Renkin) & Sanji (One Piece) Sanji and Kazuki preform a ritual to profess their love for all women, giving your characters critical hits and disabling your opponent's B and Y buttons Secret! Sansen Ryuusen!!! Kenshin (Rurouni Kenshin) & Zoro (One Piece) Zoro and Kenshin combine their KuzuRyuSen and Sanzen Sekai, causing great pain to anyone caught by the deadly combo ~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~ The Not-So-Official Tag-Teams Alright, this is the fun part of the FAQ. This is the part which lists custom Tag-teams that I or anyone that has submitted help have found. These can actually be very helpful, as i find some of them about as useful as the more powerful official tag-teams. I would like to point out that although Dr. Mashirito doesnt have a 2-3 support koma, his attack with the tag-team komas are the same as his up+x move for his 5 battle koma Yoh (Shaman King) & Jaguar (Pyuu to Fuku! Jaguar) Although you don't need to use Yoh, i find that this combo is really effective, especially against Power Fighters, Jaguar will run out, trap the opponent behind words, while Yoh throw Amidamaru at them, jaguar then launching the opponent up in the air, causing them to fall back to earth a bit heavier. Explosive Grab Robin (One Piece) & Tsunayoshi and Reborn (Katekyo Hitman Reborn!) This one is quite a fun one, T/R fall asleep, hanging grenades all around them, and Robin reaches out and pulls your opponent into it, making the grenades going off. More effective against laughter Slash n' Blast Kenshin (Rurouni Kenshin) & Yusuke (Yu Yu Hakusho) Kenshin and Yusuke appear beside each other, and while Kenshin slashes the opponent several times, Yusuke charges and fires his Rei Gan Punching hailstorm Jotaro (Jojo's Bizarre Adventure) & Dio (Jojo's Bizarre Adventure) The closer you are for this the better. It is very quick, and when done correctly, can be very devistating. Dio and Jotaro's avatars appear in front of them and do a quick succession of punchs then a devistating punch, sending whoever is caught in it flying Spinning Rei Gan Gintoki (Gintama) & Yusuke (Yu Yu Hakusho) Ok, it doesn't look like it the long the attack happens, but close enough. Gintoki throws his wooden sword at the same time Yusuke fires his Rei Gan, making it look like the sword is empowered. Prevents the foe from changing characters.
