Introduction [INTRO1]

The Harvest Lord is NOT happy! As you begin your journey through Harvest Moon
DS Cute, the opening scenes give some background information. Your character
was lazy and didn't take care of her farm. In retaliation, the Harvest Lord has
turned the Harvest Goddess to stone and banished the valley's 101 Harvest
Sprites to another world. Your job in this game will be to rescue them by com-
pleting specific tasks. As you work hard, build a successful farm and ranch,
take good care of your animals and crops, befriend your neighbors, forage the
valley for wild plants, explore the mines, fish the rivers and sea, and put
your tools to good use, you'll collect 10 teams of workers who can help you in
your game. You'll need to find at least 60 before you can get married.
The brown, black, and white teams can't be hired to work for you. Instead,
they perform specific functions in the game, much like the human villagers.
You'll need to unlock the brown team early on to get anywhere. These sprites
run the Sprite Company and Casino, in the Sprite Co. tree near the waterfall at
the top center of the valley. You'll never actually meet any of the black team
face-to-face. These sprites run the Sprites Station television channels that
you can access from the menu tabs on your touch screen. These nine channels
include both information and entertainment programs. (One of them will give you
pretty much all the information available in this guide, but you have to unlock
a sprite before you can find out what he likes, and the hints for the ones you
have yet to find are very vague. The game only gives you one hint a day and it
tends to repeat the same hint until you rescue that particular sprite, so it's
not very helpful.) The white team has only one member, a little baby sprite who
sits in the tree and makes goo-goo noises. He doesn't really do anything, but
if you give him lots of his favorite gifts, he'll offer to grant a wish for
you.
The other seven teams are workers; once you've found at least one member of the
team, you can hire that team to do their assigned job on a specific section of
the Forget-Me-Not Valley map. When you rescue one of these sprites, he will
appear, introduce himself, and then disappear to the Sprite Co. Tree near the
waterfall at the top center of the valley. If you visit the tree, you can hire
one team at a time to work for you. You can also give gifts to these sprites
using the mailboxes on Gut's desk--stand in front of the doll whose color
corresponds to the sprite you want to give something to, and when you drop the
item into the box you'll be prompted for which sprite you want to be the
recipient.
Each team has its own specific area of expertise. For example, the red team
will collect eggs, milk and wool from your animals and feed them, but that's
the only thing you can hire them to do. Please note that none of the teams will
put the items they collect into the makers, your rucksack, or the refrigerator.
They go straight to the shipping bin. Also, the items that they ship count
toward totals for unlocking other sprites, but they can't rescue their own
team members. So, for example, if the red team ships 300 animal products, you
will still have to drop a milk, an egg, or some wool into the shipping bin to
unlock Wooly. You can find out how many of individual items have been shipped
by tapping the fourth icon on the left side of the touch screen (it looks like
a spreadsheet, pencil, and calculator), then the basket of strawberries, and
scrolling down until you find what you're looking for. Also, in this game, the
items you sell to Van appear to count toward the totals, also, but for sprites
that require you to ship items, you still need to drop an item in the shipping
bin to trigger the scene where the sprite returns.

Brown Team: Sprite Company Shop & Casino [BROWN1]

With the exception of Jackie, who stays on the path out of the valley, these
sprites all work at the casino inside the Sprite Co. Tree. In the front room
of the tree you'll find Guts, the leader of all the sprites, and his assistant
Jet. You'll talk to Guts if you want to hire sprites to work for you. Jet will
sell you things like records for gold, or G, the official currency of Harvest
Moon games. You'll have to rescue Roller before you can access the back room of
the tree, where the sprites have set up a casino where you can earn medals with
which to buy items and accessories from Roller or hire the sprites in the front
room.
GUTS
Available from the start, this sprite runs the shop where you can hire sprites
to work for you.
JACKIE
The guardian of the path to Mineral Town, you'll only see him if you try to
leave the valley via the path at the far east side of the map.
JET
On the very top floor of the Inner Inn is an orange crate. Stand just above it
and press A. (It may be harder to rescue this sprite on days when Van is in
town, because he thinks you're trying to talk to him.) Jet sets up shop next to
Guts at the table in the first room of the tree.
ROLLER
On or after the 8th day of spring, walk across the bridge toward Vesta's. Once
you rescue Roller, you'll get a cutscene explaining about the medal system and
the casino. You can now buy medals to play the casino games or hire sprite
teams you've rescued to work for you.
TEP
Press A to hop over the fence surrounding the Inner Inn, then again in front of
the stove to rescue the blackjack dealer. You will need to rescue Roller before
you can play any of the casino games in the back room of the Sprite Company
tree.
HOPS
Press A in front of the well next to the Blue Bar. The poker sprite is inside.
You'll need to rescue Roller before you can play poker at one of the tables in
the back room of the sprites' tree.
JUM
Press A to examine the fountain in front of Romana's house and you'll find the
Memory Match sprite. You'll need to have found Roller before you can play the
casino games. Just stand in front of one of the tables in the back room of the
tree and press A to speak to the dealer.

Black Team: Sprites Station [BLACK1]

While these guys count toward your total of rescued sprites, you can't give
them gifts or interact with them other than to watch their shows on TV.
Mercury (Channel 1): Available from the start. Watch this station to see the
weather forecast for tomorrow. The weather is set when you wake up so if
you're aiming for a specific type of weather, save before bed, and as soon
as you wake up, check the weather; if it's not what you want, reload. You
can't use the same trick for today's weather, though, only tomorrow's. The
weather forecaster's accuracy is 100%.
Venus (Channel 2): Purchase at least one item from Karen at the supermarket for
a total of 10 days (does not have to be 10 in a row) to unlock the TV
Shopping channel. When they offer something you can buy for your home,
call them on the telephone to order it. Items used by Havest Sprites are
not available for sale.
Earth (Channel 3): Rescue 20 sprites. This channel has two parts: Each day it
profiles one sprite that you've already rescued, telling you that sprite's
birthday and top 3 likes and dislikes. It also offers a hint for a sprite
you haven't found yet, but tends to repeat the same hint over and over
until you rescue that sprite and it's not always an easy one or even one
you can currently get.
Mars (Channel 4): Ship at least 300 of one item produced on your farm (milk,
eggs, wool, crops and tree fruits) to get the Farm King channel. Things
from the makers (mayonnaise, yogurt, yarn, etc.) do NOT count toward the
total. The Farm King channel gives you farming hints. If you leave your
animals outside after dark a wild dog may come to your farm. Once you've
rescued Mars he will pop up to alert you when the wild dog comes.
Jupiter (Channel 5): Buy 5 records from Jet to rescue the DJ sprite. You can
now change the background music to any of the records that you own.
Saturn (Channel 6): This channel becomes available after the third festival you
*participate* in (simply attending doesn't count) so if you don't have a
duck or chicken for the spring festivals, you probably won't get this one
until Fall 9. (Hint: You can enter the cooking contest if you buy a grape
juice from Karen's store. You won't win, but unless you have the kitchen,
you weren't going to win anyway, and it counts toward rescuing this
sprite.) Saturn reads off the upcoming festivals for the season and for
some of the events when someone doesn't come to tell you beforehand, he
may pop up and tell you it's coming up the next day.
Uranus (Channel 7): Befriend at least one villager to 100 or more friendship
points. The station will unlock when you wake up the next morning if the
person is still at 100 FP, so be sure not to litter. In the Japanese ver-
sion this is the variety entertainment channel but in the North American
version you just get one episode per week of "Rookie Detective Kanako."
Neptune (Channel 8): Available from the start, the tutorial channel offers a
list of instructional videos on farming and ranching. (PLEASE NOTE: This
sprite advocates throwing your weeds on the ground and stones/branches in
the water. DO NOT do this anywhere except your own farm land! It is con-
sidered littering and will cause you to lose affection and friendship
points with the villagers!)
Pluto (Channel 9): The hardest sprite in the whole game to unlock, you won't
see this guy until you ship 100,000 of *one* type of item from your farm
(like Mars on channel 4, things from the makers don't count). This channel
features a quiz show. You'll get one question a day about A Wonderful
Life, Another Wonderful Life, Friends of Mineral Town and More Friends of
Mineral Town. If you answer 35 questions correctly you'll get a prize
valued at 1000G. The questions are set when you wake up so save before bed
and if you wake up to a question you can't answer, just reload.

White Team: Baby Sprite [WHITE1]

Baby Sprite is the only member of this team. After you've rescued 60 sprites
and brought the Harvest Goddess back, check out the large brown urn to the left
of Guts's table in the first room of the Sprite Company tree. This little guy
will pop up and make goo-goo sounds whenever you look into his hiding spot. He
doesn't actually do much, but every time you give him 250 presents he will
increase your gold and the number of medals you have. Baby's favorite gift is
pudding. He also likes milk and some other baked sweets, but unlike the other
sprites and those of past games, just because he's white doesn't mean he likes
white grass!

Red Team: Animal Feeding and Product Shipping [RED001]

The red team is in charge of animal input and output. That means feeding them
and collecting what they produce (milk, eggs, wool). They do not pet, brush,
talk to, or wash the animals. There's a separate team for that.

Have a total of 20 chickens and ducks. This requires a total of 5 poultry barns
and you can only have a total of 7 barns (any combination of poultry and live-
stock). This means that Woohoo's requirements directly conflict with Red
Ribbon's. Unless you're planning to raise a lot of birds, the fastest and least
expensive way to resolve this is to build the 5 poultry barns, unlock Woohoo,
then sell off at least 4 birds and demolish 1 poultry barn. Then you can build
the three livestock barns to unlock Red Ribbon. (Chickens and ducks hatch in
just a few days, you'll waste less money building poultry barns to destroy than
on more expensive livestock barns, and you'll probably want to have more cows
and sheep than chickens and ducks, anyway, since milk and wool is worth more
than eggs.)

The orange team chops up the sticks, stumps, stones, rocks, and boulders and
puts them in your lumber sheds. You will need to have the appropriate shed
built before they will save that type of lumber for you (meaning that you can't
just build a wood lumber shed and expect them to also collect material stone
for you). I'm not sure what they do if you don't have the shed; I assume they
would probably put what they collect into the shipping bin.

This sprite will appear when you receive a piece of golden lumber from Thomas's
"Winter Request" scene. Save before bed on the first day of winter. On Winter

and can't get, reload to the night before and try again until he asks for
something you have access to. He'll return at 4:30, so be waiting for him. When
you give him the item, he'll reward you with the golden lumber.

These sprites will keep your animals happy. Although you'll never actually see
them doing anything but making colored sparkles in front of the animals, they
do the equivalent of brushing, petting, and washing your livestock. The team
will also alert you when yoiu have a new baby animal born on your farm, even if
you haven't actually saved any yellow sprites yet.

the poultry are MUCH faster.

Blue Team: Crop watering [BLUE01]

This team will water crops on the map screen that you choose. Because they are
small enough to fit in between the plants, they can water crops that you can't
reach, such as the middle square of a 3x3 grid. They will not water crops that
are planted inside in your basement, though.
A note about the three secret squares: Three of the light blue harvest sprites
are hidden in secret squares in the ground. These squares are randomly chosen
when you start your game and will stay in the same place until you find them.
They can be in any tillable area in the valley EXCEPT on your farmland. You
have to till the square with your hoe before you can water it, which means you
can't find them in the winter.
They're easier to find once you've upgraded your tools so you can cover more
area, but if you're up for a little tedium, or just desperate to find some
sprites, there's an easy trick to it. Save your game before you start. Then,
working in small areas at a time, hoe a bit and then water what you just
tilled. Keep this up until you either find a sprite, or your character passes
out from exhaustion. If you find a sprite, make note of where it was, then
reload and go straight to that square, hit it with the hoe, and then water it.
Voila! You've found the sprite with the absolute minimum of effort. If you
don't find one, remember where you left off, reload, and start from that spot
and keep going until you either pass out again or find a sprite. Lather, rinse,
repeat.
You might get lucky and find all three of them right next to each other. I got
two of them in the waterfall area just down from Carter's tent. But from forum
discussions, I've noticed that most people seem to find one in the area where
Cody, Daryl, Gustafa, and the pyrotechnicians live, one in either the big area
around Galen and Nina's house or the area where the Inner Inn and Blue Bar are,
and one either by the Goddess Pond or by the tent. You might save yourself some
frustration by going to another area once you've found one of them.

If you hire these sprites, you can ask them once every half hour of the game to
heal you, and they'll restore a little of your stamina and fatigue. The more
experience they have, the more they can restore. (It might be helpful to ask
the same sprite over and over to do the healing so that sprite gains experience
more quickly.)
Some of them require you to use the hot springs to unlock them. There are two
in the game. To find the first one, you'll need to have 250 or more friendship
points with Flora. On a night when it's been sunny, but not Sunday, any time
between 11:20pm and midnight, walk from the path beside Vesta's farm up to the
waterfall area to trigger a cutscene where the hot springs near the circus
grounds opens. This hot springs will restore your fatigue. Use it 100 times for
at least a game-hour at a time and Thomas will pop out of nowhere and comment
on how you really seem to like hot springs, so they'll build another one for
you. This one will be between the Goddess Pond and the Waterfall and will
restore your stamina.

Indigo Team: Fishing [INDIG1]

The dark blue team will catch and ship fish for you. If you choose to have them
fish on a map screen with more than one source of water (the area outside the
sprite tree has both the Goddess Pond and the Waterfall) the team will divide
fairly evenly between all fishable bodies of water. The fish they catch will go
straight to your shipping bin. This team is fairly easy to unlock, because you
can get a handful of them by casting your fishing line into the various bodies
of water around the valley, and then hire them to do the fishing required to
get the rest of their teammates. You can check your fishing log in the assets
menu to see how many fish have been caught, and when you have enough for the
next sprite, just catch one fish yourself to rescue him.
You get the fishing rod from Galen. You don't have to befriend him to a parti-
cular level, but you do have to speak to him at least once before you can
trigger the event. It does seem to be easier to trigger if you've earned a few
friendship points with him. You may also need to introduce yourself to his wife
Nina since she appears in the event, too. Make sure you don't have anything
equipped in ANY of the colored slots of your rucksack (I had trouble with this
one because I was using the teleport stone and even though my red tool slot was
empty, I still had the necklace in my blue accessory slot; the event triggered
the first time I tried it after I removed the teleport stone) and then enter
Galen's house between noon and 2pm on Saturday afternoon.

Take out all of the extra spaces and put it all on one line, written like a
