1. Intro**************************FS1****************************************
Welcome to yet another FAQ of mine. This one is on the DSi Ware title "Flipnote
Studio", an application that allows you to make flipbooks with sound and
animations. I hope you enjoy.

2. Version History**************************FS2******************************
Final - Didn't take too long. 10:09 PM 5/31/2011

3. Legal**************************FS3****************************************
Should this FAQ be located on a site other than GameFAQs, Neoseeker,
Supercheats, or any other site I have given permission for usage to, or if
this is copied onto another person's guide without my express permission via
e-mail ([email protected]), I will see you in court!

 2011 Daniel Chaviers (AKA KeyBlade999).

4. Obtaining Application**************************FS4************************
There are several ways to get this. Please note that all of these refer to the
DSi/DSi XL methods. There is no way to get it on a DS/DS Lite, and I lack
knowledge of a way to get it on a 3DS. I assume that the 3DS is still
compatible with the DSi Shop, but...

~~ You can get it directly from the DSi Shop. You will need a Wi-Fi connection
to do so. Last I checked, it costed 0 DSi Points.

~~ All DSi XLs released in the US have it pre-installed. For other nations, I
don't know. Also, if you decide to buy the DSi XL, it is preferred to buy it
new, as a used one's previous owner may have somehow erased it.

~~ This method is untested. Assuming that you know someone with this app and
you or the other person have an SD Card, you could put the app onto the SD
Card and then import the file to your DSi. Please note that both you and the
other person must have connected your DSi's to the Internet at least once
   prior to this.

5. Accessing Application**************************FS5************************
~~ If you did not have it pre-installed on your DSi, obtain the app. After
that, tap the present icon on the DSi Menu. This will reveal the Flipnote
Studio logo. Tap it to access it.

~~ If you had it pre-installed or got it from another person, import it via
the System Settings if needed, then tap the Flipnote Studio icon on the
   DSi Menu.

6. Creating A Flipnote**************************FS6**************************
Upon entering Flipnote Studio, your Touch Screen will look similar to this:

This section shall cover the [Create Flipnote] button. Tap it to begin.

Immediately after, you'll find yourself with a D-Pad on the top screen and a
blank screen on bottom. Press the UP button to reach a menu deciding what to
do. RIGHT adds another page (the max is 999). DOWN plays the flipnote made
thus far. If you hold L, you can use the D-Pad or stylus to move the page
around. However, if you beyond the screen's borders, those parts will be
erased.

UP BUTTON -- TOOLS AND STUFF
>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>

[All this is assuming "Advanced Tools" in the Settings is on.]

From top to bottom, from left to right, you'll find these options:

~~ Exit: Leave the flipnote. If not saved, you are prompted to return and do
         so.

~~ Film Icon: Look at a film-like version of the flipnote. Allows cutting,
copying, pasting, and deleting of slides, among others.
-- Erase will delete the page in entirety.
-- Insert puts a new blank page where you are pointing.
-- Copy will allow you to copy the page.
-- Paste will allow you paste the selected page somewhere.
~~ Holding L will let you do each action, except Insert, on a
                 specific layer.

~~ Camera Icon: Import pics from the DSi Camera.
-- The left/right arrows select pictures.
-- The cube will show how you select contrasting and shading.
If the cube has a shaded part, you can also do contrasting.
If not, it is only shading. Shading is on the left/right
axis. Contrast is on the up/down axis.
-- Capture will put the picture into the flipnote. After doing
so, you can select Cancel to undo this.

~~ Microphone Icon: Import sounds from DSi Sound or record some.
-- The top big MUSIC box will allow you to record sound as
the flipnote plays. It is limited to about 30 sec.
-- The A/X/Y boxes can be activated by touch or button.
They also record, but only for a short time.
-- Hold L to select to mix in the smaller sounds into the
larger one. You can also use this to import DSi Sounds.
-- Use the play button to play the main music and fuse in
                       the smaller sounds.

~~ Send: Send this flipnote to another DSi.

~~ Erase: Erase all of the current page on the current layer.

layers. Use L to merge one
                                                  layer with another. Use the
colored box to use red, blue,
                                                  or black/white ink.
-- Paper: Use white paper and black ink, or use
                                        black paper and white ink.
-- Lightbox: Allows you to see previous pages,
the number of which is in the
Settings menu. L lets you make and
                                           see a draft.
-- Copy: Copy the current page to a new page.
Example: draw a circle, then make a new
page and the circle will also be on the
                                       new page.

~~ [3] Dotted Circle: Select to copy and paste parts of pages, or resize or
                      flip pages.
-- Select: Select an area to cut or copy. Also, if you
blow into the mic, it will be filled with the
                                 current paint choice.
-- Copy: Copy the selected area for pasting. Holding L
                               makes you cut the area.
-- Paste: Paste the current selection.
-- Resize: Makes the entire page shrink (like a zoom
out). Holding L makes it like a zoom in. If a
part goes beyond the borders, it is erased.
Also, zooming out then in can worsen the
                                 flipnote's graphical quality.
-- Flip: Flip the entire flipnote horizontally. If you
                               hold L, it flips vertically.

~~ Undo: Undos up to 17 previous "strokes" or changes. (A stroke is a drawing
action without lifting the stylus.) The arrow beside the undo icon is
         the "redo" function.

~~ |<< icon: Returns to page #001.

~~ <| icon: Returns to the previous page.

~~ > icon: Plays the flipnote.

~~ |> icon: Goes to the next page.

~~ >>| icon: Goes to last page.

~~ Back: Returns to editing the flipnote.

~~ # >>>>>>>> icon: Determines the number of pages per second that will play
                    during the flipnote. 1 = 1 page per second, 2 = 2 pages
                    per second, and so on.

~~ Arrow icon: Determines how the flipnote plays. --> means it'll play one
time. The loop means it'll repeatedly play.

~~ Save: Save the flipnote as is to a certain location.

By using all of these functions, you can create a very good flipnote. I will
guide you through making a simple one for you. A moving ball.

>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>
EXAMPLE FLIPNOTE GUIDE
>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>

(1) Begin by drawing a circle or importing one from the camera.
(2) Move it to whichever corner you wish. I will speak as if from the upper
    left corner.
(3) Make a new page. Make sure the COPY function is on.
(4) Use L and the D-Pad to move the circle down and right a few spaces.
(5) Continue moving the same amount of spaces until you reach the bottom.
(6) Now move up and right.
(7) Continue until you hit the edge of the screen, and then continue as it
    would bounce off.
(8) When done, apply some theme music.
(9) Play the flipnote at a certain speed to find which works best.
(10) Save it.

Congrats, you've made a flipnote! A fairly basic one, and not to mention rough,
but good nonetheless!

9. About Flipnote Hatena**************************FS9************************
Flipnote Hatena is a website on the Internet. You can also examine it from
this URL on your PC:

http://flipnote.hatena.com

On just a PC, you can merely view flipnotes. If you connect with your DSi, you
can upload and download flipnotes from and to your DSi. However, to get onto
the site, you'll need a Wi-Fi signal.

That is really all I can give on that subject. I can't get a Wi-Fi signal of
my own so... I'll let you figure it all out.
