Both of these questions have been seen before from people wanting to know how to max their stats. So, I'm here to provide a nifty little guide on how to max your stats. This guide will cover the following: general information about stat maxing, how to distribute your Augments amongst the final party, and two ways you can max your stats. Now, this guide may get kind of confusing. I will have a chart of the character's stats at level 70. Next, I will tell you which Augments to equip, how long to leave them on, and give you different chart statistics for the stats. If you need any help, or you would like a less in-depth, explanation, please don't hesitate to email me. I will be happy to explain my charts and diagrams. To ensure that this guide achieves the overall effect of stat maxing, this guide will be as error-free as possible. If you spot any errors I have made, please promptly send me an email, so I may correct the problem. That will make this guide more proficient. And that is all I have to say about what you will find in this guide. Let's get technical. -------------------------------------------------------------------------------- 2. Notes about Stat Maxing -------------------------------------------------------------------------------- Before I begin the actual stat maxing section, I need to tell you some important things about stat maxing. These notes will help you to understand exactly how it works, and you will be prepared to successfully max your stats. Note #1: Don't bother trying to max your stats until your third playthrough. It is impossible to max them on your first playthrough, but you can on your second. If you want the overall affect, however, you should save it for your third playthrough. That is the best time to max your stats. Note #2: People seem to think that their stats will just go up based on equipping the Augments to the character. That is not the case. You must have the Augments in your command box in order for them to take affect. That's the most important thing to realize when stat maxing. Note #3: Placing an Augment in the Auto-Battle command box will NOT give you the required stats. The Augments must be in the regular command box in order to get the required stat increases from them. Note #4: Stat maxing takes place between levels 71-99. Once you reach level 70, you are done with stat boosts. The rest of the stat boosts will depend on which Augments you have equipped as you level up. So, in other words, you must level up to max your stats. I suggest leveling up in floors B8-B11 in Lunar Subterrane. Note #5: Don't focus too much on using Augments that increase your HP and MP. While you may do them in the process of maxing your other stats, they can be increased with Soma Drops and Silver/Gold Apples. Don't waste your levels trying to get those up, when there are items you can use to increase those. It may take some time farming for them, but your main stats cannot be increased by any item. Note #6: Finally, equipment can affect stats. For example, Rydia's Stardust Rod maxes her Intellect to 99. However, if you do that, you can't get her max attack, which is 110 from the Dragon Whisker. Therefore, you need to take into consideration the kinds of equipment you want on your character. Adamant Armors give your stats +15 increases, so you'll want to take that into consideration too. Basically, you want to build your stats around the equipment you have. This is all the basic information you need to know about maxing your stats. The main one to be careful about it the equipment stat boosts. Make sure you know which equipment you are going to keep on your characters before you start equipping your Augments. Don't worry, you'll figure it out. -------------------------------------------------------------------------------- 3. Augment Distribution -------------------------------------------------------------------------------- It is very important to distribute your Augments, so that each character can get the max stats needed. I will provide one method to max your stats. It's kinda hard to do this because Augment setups are based on personal preference, but this method is proven to get your max stats. As you can see, Limit Break and ????'s Love are the big two that will provide the most. You definitely want to get those. -------------------------------------------------------------------------------- 5. Stat Maxing -------------------------------------------------------------------------------- Here we are, the purpose of this guide. I'm going to provide you with two methods to max your stats. Keep in mind, I'm not factoring in the equipment stat increases because there are endless possible equiptions. If you want to know which equipment increases stats, check Obishawn's Equipment/Item FAQ. I will, however, tell you the max stats for the attack and defense. That is part of stat maxing after all. *************** * Method #1 * *************** This method consists of the three-playthrough Augment list I gave in section 3. I will tell you how to max your stats by telling you which Augments to have in your command box and for which levels. As you can see, I was able to successfully max my stats by using the given Augment setup. There are many more setups you can use to max your stats; you just have to experiment and try new things. It took me a while to get it out on paper, but once you've got everything up to 99, it's the best feeling in the world. *************** * Method #2 * *************** This method was taken directly from Spenstah's awesome Kain and Cecil Augment FAQ on the Final Fantasy IV DS board. In his method, ????'s love (he calls it Kluya's Love) and Limit Break are given to cecil besides giving Rydia the second Limit Break. Here is what he has to say and his Augment distribution. SBallen and GauRocks think giving LB to Rydia is a must, and by deciding between the two, you choose your #1 damage dealer: Cecil or Kain. They both can agree that you must give ???'s love (I'm calling it Kluya's Love from now on, since that's what I put) to one you didn't give LB to, even though the two combine wonderfully. Action's guide isn't set in stone just yet, but at the time of posting, he agrees with them. That's why I'm here, to present an augment guide that puts Cecil and Kain at the top, and showcases what Kluya's love can really do. This guide was constructed with bits and pieces from SBAllen's guide, GauRocks's guide, and some of my own strategy. Compared to SBAllen, you get more use out of Kluya's Love, Limit Break, Bluff, and Recall. Compared to GauRocks, it's more of a toss-up. In exchange for less of Inferno, Tsunami, Adrenaline and Eye Gouge, you get 1st playthrough twincasting, more use out of recall, level lust, the two +50%s, Kluya's love, and Limit break.
