Question for Pokemon Soul Silver

I am at goldenrod city and have a lot of good pokemon. I played before and decided to start over. I did not delete the other save file and cannot save now. What do I do?

You can only have one saved file, when you don't delete the other file but you start a new file, you can't save until your other file is deleted
