Once finding one near the day care center, I would suggest either putting to sleep or paralyzing the Pokemon. Makes it easier to catch. That, or collect 200 coins at the game corner to buy one.

You should get a Zubat and level it to 20. When it learns Mean Look, make it's speed go up. Then, when you see a Abra, use Mean Look and beat the heck out of him or catch him.
