Shake trees and sometimes money will come out. Another way is to get a shovel and hit every rock in your town. When money comes out then you keep hitting it until it has stopped

What Dark_Moon said is true, though the difference in the seasons means a lot. If you're in the dead of winter the best way to get money is doing the things DM had said. Fish, sell exotic fruit, shake trees, catch the bees in it, and shovel rocks (hit enough times, five to be exact, it will spit out $2500 Bells.) The other way I found for getting some cash (Takes a few days) is to collect the Fossils, but don't sell them right away, store them in a storage container in your house and once a page is all full go and sell the lot all in one time. It ranges from $5,000 Bells to at least $20,000 Bells. Hope this helps.

You can sell furniture from Neighbours/Balloons; sell fruit; dig up Fossils and sells them... Almost every item is sellable, and some will give a nice little big of money!

1)keep on selling fish till you get 100,000
2)put all of it in your bank account in The Town Hall
3)save and end then turn on and change the date to 11 years later
4)you should get 99,999

What dark moon said and what de lunare said is true a really good way to make money is to visit other peoples towns and and take their fruit and plant it in your town, your town fruit is only 100 bells but foreign fruit is 500 bells catch bees for 4000 bells not bumble bees just bees if you grow a coconut tree they only grow by the beach and produce 2 fruit

Well a money cheat for hackers and non hackers on animal crossing city folk make sure you have 50,000 bells. 1.start your Wii and click on Wii Options. 2.you will see two options one says Data Managanet and the next one is Wii Setting. 3.click on Wii Options. 4. If you can see Calendar click it 5. Click on Date. 6. Then the year has to be 2000. Don't forget to comform 7.then go to the game and deposit your 50,000 bells. 8. Save an quit. 9. Repet 1 thro 6 10. Add 15 to every time year every time you add check mail

I get money by planting HEAPS of fruit trees. I mean the fruit that is worth 500 bells in your town.
You can send and animal a letter asking for fruit with a piece of your town's fruit and they will send you a different fruit back. Or if you have a friend with different fruit then take some of theirs and do a trade.
Once you have a lot of different fruit just continuously plant them around your town (this won't be good for your environment but you're able to cut them down anyway) and then you will soon have fruit trees all over your town. It doesn't make your town look bad, it makes it more colourful. Each tree is then worth 1500 bells.
