Good Starter Choices & Other General Tips

Added:

*I know that there's no real BEST starter, but I noticed early in the game there are alot of water areas in the dungeons, so if you have a water-type for a starter you can then tell your team to wait when you want to shortcut across water to get something. [This comes in really handy when trying to get the HM's in Solar Cave!] After you can change your partners or go alone on missions, it'll come in handy to bring Pokemon who can deal with the terrain. Similarly, a fire-type can walk over magma, and flying can flying-types/levitaters can just float over!

*When there is bad weather, tell your team to wait and explore by yourself until you find the exit, that way they won't all get damaged, as long as they are in the room without you or foes the weather won't damage them! Also make sure you change their tactics to "get away" if they end up in a battle they can't handle alone. If you have a weather band then your starter can wear it for no damage while looking to get out! After you can switch leaders this is still useful-pick your leader to be able to handle the terrain for the dungeon!

*As soon as they want to join, grab and have any Pokemon with the pick-up ability[Aipom in Uproar Forest is an easy one!] tag along as an extra on missions-when they get something, take it from them ASAP so they'll get something else! They often get something when you change floors, so make sure they're empty handed before going up/down the stairs.

*The most useful item for exploring dungeons IMO are the X-Ray Specs! I ALWAYS have my leader wear them, that way you know where everything and all the foes are at all the time-no wasting time searching through empty rooms, no surprise foes around the corner, and monster houses usually are noticable because there will be a lot of stuff in them, so be ready!

*Reviver seeds are sometimes the only way to complete escort missions, so bring them along if you want the prize or points bad enough-you can get plenty as rewards-and bring extra Pokemon to help you protect them, give them oran berries to hold so they'll throw them at the escortee if they're in danger, but it'll just take the reviver seeds from the toolbox, so they're ok in there.

Hope this helps out someone! I made it to Lucario Ranking a few weeks ago, a day or so after I finished the story mode, so I guess there must be some wisdom in here-LOL!

Good Luck!
