Physical game sales have struggled in the UK in the past year

Physical game sales have struggled in the UK, as they only accounted for 10% of total sales last year. The BBC reported that eighty nine point five percent of games sold in the UK were digital, while the remaining were physical. While major storefronts like PSN and Steam don’t share exact figures, they are said to be the industry benchmark and align with that figure as well. Buying games digitally has become more standardized with the PS4 and Xbox One, with franchises such as Street Fighter and Resident Evil accounting for 80 percent digital. The covid pandemic was also a major factor in the shift to digital.
