The FTC is investigating Sony's $3.6 billion dollar purchase of Bungie

The Federal Trade Commission is investigating Sony's 3.6 billion dollar purchase of Destiny developer Bungie. The FTC is taking a more aggressive approach to reviewing big tech mergers. While this might ultimately not impact Sony's deal with Bungie, it reflects the growing concern around potential antitrust issues. Sony has claimed that Bungie will be “an independent subsidiary” of the PlayStation firm and remain a multiplatform studio should the acquisition go through as planned. Furthermore, Bungie's existing and future games will not be exclusive to PlayStation platforms.
