Xbox Live Gold no longer required for Free-to-play games


Microsoft has officially dropped Xbox Live Gold requirement for free to play games on the console. This means games such as Apex Legends, Fortnite, Warframe, Rocket League, Call of Duty Warzone and Destiny 2 no longer require players to also have an active Xbox Live Gold subscription. Microsoft finally joins the likes of Sony and Nintendo, who have had this implemented on their respective consoles for a while now. Microsoft seems to be putting less emphasis on Xbox Live Gold over the last few years, and instead putting much of the focus on Game Pass.
