Mario Strikers: Battle League Cheats and Tips

Mario Strikers: Battle League is a five versus five soccer game that is the third installment in the Mario Strikes series. Find out how you can improve at this violent game which is available on the Nintendo Switch by taking a look at our cheats and tips below.

Mario Strikers: Battle League Trailer

Tackle, pass, and score in battle soccer with the Mushroom Kingdom gang. Get gritty and try to score the most goals by tackling enemies, using items, and pulling off score-boosting special shots. Customize your characters with gear that can augment their stats and appearance. Take the carnage online or pass the ball to players locally - just look out for the electric fence.

Below is a collection of hints and tips that will help you to progress in the game. These include the two different ways you can dodge an opponent's tackle and why tackling is risky.

  • Dodging

    There are two ways that you can dodge to past an opponent in Mario Striker: Battle League. One way is how the tutorial tells you by pushing the R button on your controller.

    The other way which the tutorial doesn't tell you is that a dodge can be performed by flicking the Right Analogue Stick which will allow you to maintain the direction you are running while performing the dodge. If you perform either dodge correctly you will not only avoid a tackle but also get an extra burst of speed as a reward.

  • Tackles are Risky

    Performing a tackle in Mario Strikers: Battle League is risky, if your opponent dodges your tackle they will not only leave you for dust but also get a burst of speed. Also, if you tackle a player and they no longer have the ball they will receive an item, which are powerful abilities in the right hand.

    It is therefore recommended that whenever possible you should be inclined towards interceptions over tackles to avoid any negative consequences if the tackle is mistimed. To intercept the ball you simply need to stand near the receiver and press the A or B button on your controller.

  • Mash your Hyper Strike

    Hyper Strikes in Mario Striker: Battle League can be devastating when they are timed correctly. To perform a Hyper Strike though you need to charge up your shot which can leave you vulnerable to a tackle if you are not careful. One way you can avoid this is to mash the A button on your controller instead of trying to perfectly time your Hyper Strike.

    Keep in mind that mashing a Hyper Strike will result in a less powerful shot, but this is better than no shot at all. If you get the shot off there is also the possibility that it will create rebounds for other characters to easily tap into the goal.

What are Hyper Strikes?
Hyper Strikes are a special charged-up shot that, when successful, counts as two goals instead of one.
Where is the best place to shoot from?
Shoot from the middle of the field whenever possible, rather than the top or bottom where the angle of where the ball can enter the net becomes smaller the closer you get.
How can you easily tell characters apart?
If you go to 'Settings', there is something called 'Visual-Assist Mode'. This mode will put colored shapes above the characters on the field, making it easier to tell them apart.
