Online Racing

In Mario Kart 7, online play returns. In this Mario Kart, it is much easier to receive VR points which are points you get from racing. You will play with players that have a similar VR to you, unless you join a friends game. Then you may be playing against players with higher or lower VR. The amount of VR you can get varies. If you place 7th or 8th, you will lose a maximum of 3 VR. If you place 1st, you can get up to 30 VR.

In online racing, you can do races of battle. In races, players will pick a course which will go into a list. The course you race on will be randomly selected out of the list made by players. The same applies for battle. If your internet connection isn't very good, you may encounter lag and glitches where players may fall off and get back on automatically. Sometimes you may use items on players and it doesn't hit them. It isn't hacking, it's just weird lag that creates glitches.

In battle, players will chose one of the 6 courses to go into the list. It alternates whether you play balloon battle or coin runners. Some lag may occur during battles but much less lag and glitches than in racing. VR will be added and taken the same amount as in racing.

Mario Kart 7's online racing in my opinion has improved from the Wii versions. It is a great feature which you can play with people online or with people in your friend list.
