If you jump of a ledge and quickly rotate you will be able to land on the opposite side. For this to work it is crucial that you quickly rotate otherwise you will gain too much weight and will not be able to land safely.
Rotate the environment into a position that enables you to take advantage of moving elements like rocks and bats.
Rotate the ground into a steep slope when falling so it reduces your speed gradually and enables you to catch your character carefully.
