001-General Information
-----------------------------------------------------------

This is a walkthrough for the game called Death under Tuscan
Skies: A Dana Knightstone Novel. This is the second game in
the Dana Knightstone series. To contact me about this
guide, please email me at [email protected].

002-Video Walkthrough
-----------------------------------------------------------

Do you want to see a video of how to solve the game's
puzzles, rather than read how to solve the puzzles? You're
in luck! I made a video walkthrough for this game, which
can be found here:

004-Walkthrough
-----------------------------------------------------------

To start the game, simply press "start game". Pick which
difficulty setting you want (casual or advanced). A scene
of Dana arriving at Tuscany plays.

004a-Chapter One
-----------------------------------------------------------

The game starts with an optional tutorial. You can click on
Professor Romano here to talk to him.

Click on the library desk to get behind it, and click on
the list of book call numbers. It gets added to your
notebook. Click on the keycard (on the computer keyboard),
and it gets added to your inventory on the bottom of the
screen. This causes a short scene to play on the computer
screen.

Zoom in on the library door. It's locked. Use the keycard
on the lock to open the door. You can now go through the
doorway to the library balcony.

Zoom in on the map display by the stairs. Pick up the
figurine there. Zoom in on the flowers (on the small
table). Pick up the paperclip and the bottle of ink.

Click on the doorway to the right, which leads to the
literature section. The ghost appears. Click on the door a
few times to open it, then go inside.

Examine the bookshelves. According to Dana's list in the
notebook, she wants three books: HA29.A65, HA29.A5828 and
HE89.T11. Click on those three books. The ghost appears,
and she has a handkerchief. Click on it to read the message
"Find Him".

The ghost highlights a statue in the room. You need three
figurines to put into the statue.

Examine the worktable here for a figurine. Then, examine
the globe. Use the paper clip on the lock to open it and
get a figurine. Combined with the figurine from the
previous room, that makes three. Use the three figurines on
the statue.

This is a puzzle, with two parts. The first part is
matching colors. Click on the crown of a figurine to change
its color. The color of the crown should match the color in
the bottom row.

The second part of the puzzle is matching the shields.
Click on a shield to change the image on it. You want the
image to match the image in the top row. This means the dog
goes with the pawprint, the human with the hand, the plant
with the leaf, the moon with the star, the eagle with the
feather and the fish with the bubbles.

Solving the puzzle gets you a stamp and a picture of the
man that the ghost wants you to find. Go to the worktable
in this room and use the bottle of ink on the inkpad. Use
the stamp on the inkpad, then use the stamp on a piece of
paper. The stamp is for a book entitled _Morte in Toscana_.

Professor Romano appears. Talk to him, and he says you
should be able to find the book in the library catalog.
Return to the first screen of the game, the one with the
computer. The card catalog is on the right.

This is a puzzle. You want to move the stickers around, so
all the colored lines match up. For example, the space in
the second row, third column has one green line. Move the
sticker with one green line to that spot; they match
perfectly.

Once you make all the matches, a drawer opens. Look at the
drawer to see that _Morte in Toscana_ is in the medical
section. There is a letter opener near the card, which you
should take.

Go through the doors to the library balcony. The main part
of the library is dark. Zoom in on the light machine (which
has two lights sticking out of the top of it). Use the
letter opener on the machine's cover to open it.

You have a puzzle, in which you must determine which code
operates the lights. Numerous fake codes are written here,
but you should ignore them. The correct code is on the
left, second from the bottom. It is 10011 10111. Move the
switches to those positions to turn on the lights.

You can now go to the main library. There are some things
here that you can't interact with yet. Take the ladder
(against the shelves on the left). Zoom in on the painting
against the far wall (left of the big book) for a numbered
knob.

The door in the back, at the top of the stairs, leads to
the medicine department. Use your keycard on the lock to
get inside. Put the ladder on the L-P shelf, so you can
reach _Morte in Toscana_.

Get the book and open it. This starts a challenge, in which
you must match pictures to the pictures in the book. Match
all fifteen pictures to get a small key.

Go back to the main library. Use this key on the display
case to the left, for a puzzle. Here, you want to sort the
rows by color, according to the picture. Row A is purple, B
is green, C is orange, D is blue and E is red.

Within each row, you must sort the bottles by number. 1 is
on the left, 2 is right of it, 3 is right of that, and so
on. Some numbers are designated by Roman numerals, some by
dots on a die, some by lines, some by fingers held up by a
hand, and others by the number of the sides of a geometric
shape.

Solving the puzzle gets you a jar. Click on the label to
see a skeleton face and an eye. Take the eye, then return
to the medical section. Zoom in on the skeleton. Take the
numbered knob from its eye, then put an eye in the eye
socket. This gets you a piece of paper, which is a letter
from G.C. to Eva.

The letter mentions a book that starts with "Q". Look in
the Q-U shelf. Take the screwdriver, then open up the book.
This is the red book, the only one with a call number.

Pull down the emblem on the book's cover to find a letter.
Unfold it to read it; it talks about meeting in the
gardens.

Take the ladder from the medical section, then go to the
main library. The door to the gardens is to the right, but
the button is broken. Use the screwdriver on the screws to
open it. You then get a two-part puzzle. In this first
part, rotate all the pieces to form a circuit board.

In the second part, match the switches to the circuits.
Click on a switch, then click the circuit it is connected
to. If you are right, the wire is highlighted. If you are
wrong, try again. Match all the circuits to switches to fix
the door.

Go outside. The cleaning trolley on the left has a cleaning
rag and cleaning spray. Take them, then go back inside.
Zoom in on the big book against the far wall. Use the
cleaning rag to get rid of the dust here.

This starts a puzzle, in which you must arrange pictures in
order. The order is this:

32514
43125
32154

For the first set, the order is from youngest to oldest,
starting with an embryo and ending with a girl. For the
second set, the order is from fewest legs to most legs,
starting with a snake and ending with a spider. The third
set is the order in which the two highlighted squares move
around the board.

Solving this puzzle gets you a third numbered knob.

Go outside, then forward to the plaza. At the base of the
left statue, you can find letters. Get them, then use the
ladder on the statue in the middle of the plaza. This lets
you look into the telescope that the statue is holding.

This is a puzzle. You need to rotate the rings of the
telescope to see a picture. The picture is of the end of a
bridge, and the number 3247 is written on it.

Zoom in on the locked door, on the right side of the plaza.
Put the numbered knobs here. You need to move the numbered
knobs around here, to unlock the gate. From top to bottom,
the knobs on the right have to be 3, 2, 4 and 7. That is
because the code the telescope highlighted was 3247.
Solving the puzzle opens the gate.

You end up on a pathway. Examine the display on the right,
which has a letter tile. Pick that up, then go forward to
the bridge. A statue of Eva Leoni is here. Zoom in on the
other statue for more letter tiles, then go forward to the
domed building.

A dog named Il Terrible is guarding the building, so you
can't go inside. Look by the crate to find the last letter
tile. Then go back to the bridge and use the letter tiles
on Eva's statue.

Click on the tiles in the correct order. You want to spell
out her name: Eva Leoni. When you do this, you get a letter
for Eva, from G.C. Eva's ghost appears. Click on her, and
she points on the design on the bridge.

Examine this design for a puzzle. Find all 20 snakes in the
design. Then, go backwards and use the snakes on the
display to the right. You have a puzzle, to highlight five
snakes that aren't touching each other. There are multiple
solutions to this puzzle, and the easiest way to solve it
is by pressing the small snake figurines.

Solving the puzzle gets you a copper disk and a newspaper
fragment. Take them, then return to the medical section of
the library. Use the copper disk on the angel for a puzzle.
In this puzzle, you must rotate the rings correctly.

Each corner has three shapes, one inside the other. For
example, the lower/left corner has a square, inside a
circle, inside a triangle. Each of those shapes corresponds
to a color on the left. This means the lower/left corner
has purple, inside green, inside blue. Arrange the three
rings of the discs so those are the three colors in the
lower/left.

The puzzle is solved. You can also solve it by working from
any of the other three corners. Solving the puzzle reveals
a hidden passageway to a secret room. This room has a
portrait of Eva's family.

On the right side of the room is a display case. Clean it
with the glass cleaner, then wipe it off with the rag. You
get a key.

Take the newspaper from the ground here, and use it on
display case in the middle of the room. This starts a
jigsaw puzzle. Put the newspaper pieces together to get a
full newspaper. It describes how Eva fell victim to a
deadly disease, with no cure.

Giovanni Calabresi was a medical student searching for a
cure, but he went missing, mysteriously.

Once you finish the puzzle, the ghost of Eva's father
appears. Click on him. He upsets the family portrait. Click
on the portrait to move it. You find a hidden compartment
with film and a note.

Go backwards twice, to the main library. Left of the large
book against the wall is a picture. Zoom in on it, and use
your key on the lock. This starts a puzzle. Find all the
items on the list, then click on them. You get surgical
tools.

Return to the secret Leoni room. Use the surgical tools on
the display case on the right. You have a puzzle, in which
you match tools to outlines. Put each tool in its place,
and you get scissors.

Go back two screens and outside. Use the scissors on the
bag of dog treats. In this puzzle, you must drag your mouse
along the dotted line to get dog treats. Then, go forward
through the garden area until you see the dog again. Zoom
in on the dog, then put the dog biscuits in the bowl.

The dog starts eating, and you can go into the domed
building, which is for film development.

There is a crowbar on a shelf here. Take it, then go
outside. Use the crowbar on the crate to get film
developing chemicals and modeling clay.

Go back inside the building. Use the clay on the cracks on
the wall, so no light goes through. Then, zoom in on the
table. Use the film on the white reel. Put the reel and the
chemicals in the film canister. This gets you some wet
film.

Hang the film on the line to see the pictures. You have
another ghost sighting after this, and the ghost makes a
hole in the wall. Look at this hole to find a puzzle box.

This puzzle box is easy to deal with. There are symbols on
the box. Highlight all the symbols, which are at the
bottom. For example, a heart is on the bottom, so you want
to highlight every heart. A starburst is at the bottom, so
you want to highlight every starburst. Do this for all the
symbols.

Solving the puzzle gets you a puzzle cube. There is also a
puzzle cube on the shelf (by the radio) and inside a
basket. That makes three.

Go back to the secret chamber. On the right, near a bust,
is a puzzle. Put the puzzle blocks here to start it. You
want to arrange the pictures from start to finish,
according to the map.

This then gets you a moth puzzle. You want to move the
petri dishes around, so they match the display. For
example, the blue moths are 5 and 14, so the blue pictures
go on 5 and 14.

Solving the puzzle gets you some microfilm. Use it on the
microfiche scanner on the left to read the article. It
talks about Giovanni's death.

004b-Chapter Two
-----------------------------------------------------------

Dana takes one of her pictures to Professor Romano. He says
they can identify Giovanni by his uniform. You get a
puzzle, in which you have to arrange the flags by date,
starting from earliest and going to the latest.

Go outside to the hallway. Zoom in on the display case on
the right, for a hidden objects challenge. Find all the
items on the list, which includes a certificate belonging
to Giovanni.

Return to the records office. Give Giovanni's certificate
to Professor Romano. He will leave. You can now examine two
things in the office. First, examine the remote control, on
a desk to the right. Move the cover down to get the
batteries.

Second, examine the bowl on a desk to the left. This starts
a challenge, where you need to find all the matching pairs.
Make all the matches, and you get a box of matches.

Leave the room, then go outside to the university grounds.
Go right and talk to the man here. He says that you need a
hard hat (and a room number) to get into Giovanni's room.

Go left. A hard hat is inside the tree here. Zoom in on the
bag to find tweezers and wire cutters. Take them, then go
inside the administration building again.

On a display case (left of the open doorway), you can find
a grappling hook. On the display case left of that is a
motorized airplane. Use the wire cutters on the wire, then
take the plane. Put batteries into the remote control, then
take the remote control.

Go inside the office and use the tweezers on the ship in a
bottle. This gets you a key. Use the key on the cabinet
here to find Giovanni's files. The files say that he was
terminated from the university. On the left side of the
folder, you can get his room number.

Leave the office and the building. Use the helicopter on
the hard hat in the tree for a challenge. Follow a path
from the top/left to the bottom/right. This is a simple
challenge; all you have to do is follow the arrows. Go
down, right twice, down, right, down, left, down, right
three times, down twice and right twice.

You get the hard hat. Go right. Use the hard hat on the man
here, and use the room number on the hat. He agrees to let
you into the building to the right. Go into the building,
then leave it.

Zoom in on the concrete mixer to get a hammer. Now, examine
the workman's lunchbox to get cheese and a wick. Now, go
back inside the building to the right.

There's a broken lantern here. One piece of the lantern is
on top of the lockers to the right. Zoom in on the open
locker to get two more lantern pieces. Then, zoom in on the
upper/left locker to get two more lantern pieces.

You now have all five lantern pieces. Use them on the
lantern for a puzzle. You have to rotate the lantern and
the lantern pieces, in order to fit them all together. Once
you're done, put the wick in the lantern and light the wick
with a match.

Go into the hallway to the right. Use the lantern here to
find a lantern holder on the right wall. Put the lantern in
the holder to brighten the room. A cave-in blocks access to
Giovanni's room.

Examine the red emergency case on the left wall. Use the
hammer on the glass windows here, in order to find an axe.
Now, use the grappling hook on the ceiling rails here, and
Dana will swing over the rubble.

Examine the poster on the left for three coins. Then,
examine the mousehole on the right. Use the cheese on the
mouse to get two more coins. Finally, use the fire ax on
the door a few times, so you can enter Giovanni's room.

Go backwards to the hallway. Zoom in on Giovanni's locker,
in the bottom/center area. Use the coins on the locker for
a puzzle, in which you must flip all the coins. Click on
all four coins in the corners, then all four coins in the
center.

Solving the puzzle lets you find a note from Eva's brother,
as well as a locket. This locket is a puzzle. Put all the
pieces on the locket. Each pieces lines up with another
piece that has an identical design. Put all the pieces
together to get a gem.

Now, go to Giovanni's room. Take the lightbulb from the
holder (on the right), then take two organs from the rubble
on the right. Take two more organs from a table on the
left.

Zoom in on the cabinet in the back. Put the gem from
Giovanni's locker into the slot here. This starts a puzzle.
You need to click all five pictures which have arches on
them.

1_2_
___4
5_6_

After this, you get another puzzle. This time, find all six
pictures with hats.

__1_
23_4
_56_

When you solve this puzzle, you find a button. Press it to
reveal a hidden passageway to the attic. Go upstairs.

There are two organs on a blue blanket (on the left) and
two organs in the rubble on the right (by the guitar). Now
you have all the organs, so zoom in on the anatomy model,
on the table in the back. Put the organs into the model to
get some microfiche.

Zoom in on the area in the back/left corner of the room.
This starts a hidden objects scene. Find all the objects to
get some heavy blocks.

Use the heavy blocks on the loose cabinet, on the wall.
Each block fits into a spot here. Simply match each block
to the space which is the same shape at the block. Put all
the blocks in the cabinet, and it falls down, revealing a
safe.

Examine the lamp here. Put the lightbulb (from the room
below) into the lamp stand. This gives you the numbers for
the safe. Zoom in on the safe, and open it by following the
numbers. That's clockwise to 60, counter-clockwise to 50,
clockwise to 70 and counter-clockwise to 30. You get the
address of Dr. Ferro and a portable microfiche viewer.

Go to the microfiche that you got from finishing the
anatomy model. Use the portable microfiche viewer on the
microfiche to see the pictures.

004c-Chapter Three
-----------------------------------------------------------

Give Dr. Ferro's address to the woman at the tourist booth.
Before she can help you, her postcards go flying off to the
right.

Go right to the scooter stand. The person who wins the
tourist competition will get a free scooter ride from here.
Talk to the scooter stand attendant, if you wish. Find all
eight postcards here and go left. Give the postcards to the
woman at the tourist booth.

This starts a puzzle. Underneath each postcard is a small
picture, which shows the postcard that belongs in that
spot. You want to rearrange the postcards, so every
postcard is in the right spot. For example, the picture in
the bottom/right spot is of a fish, so the fish postcard
goes there. When a postcard is in the right spot, it stays
in place.

When you're done, the woman at the tourist booth says that
there is a map in the wine shop, which shows where Dr.
Ferro's office is. Go left to the wine shop. Zoom in on the
trash cans to the left to find a trash picker-upper. Zoom
in on the cans (between the houses) to find a palette
knife.

Go into the open doorway, which is the wine shop. The man
here says that the map was destroyed by a cat. The missing
map piece is on a shelf to the left. Zoom in on the shelf,
then use the trash picker-upper to get the map piece there.

Use the map piece on the back wall, where the other map
pieces are. Move the pieces of paper around to form a map.
When you put a piece in place, it stays there. You can see
the outlines of the map pieces.

When you finish, it is revealed that Dr. Ferro's office is
under the toy store. You can learn about a wine competition
here in the store, and you can take the rag which is on a
barrel here.

Leave the wine shop, then go down and right to the scooter
area. Zoom in on the barrel. Use the palette on the loose
symbol here to get it. Return to outside of the wine shop,
then put the symbol on the wall, where other symbols are.

This starts a puzzle. There is a small drawing, behind
every emblem. Move them around, so each emblem matches the
picture it is over. For example, the picture of two heads
is below the two-headed emblem. When an emblem is in the
right spot, it changes color to become brighter. Solving
the puzzle gets you a locker key and parts for a mechanical
pigeon.

Return to the scooter rental place. Open the top locker
with the locker key to find another mechanical pigeon part.
You also find a four digit code. Use this code to open the
red toolbox here for a hidden objects challenge. Find all
the items to get a saw handle.

Return to the area outside the wine store. Go through the
left opening to reach the toy store. Zoom in on the crane
machine here. The wiring is faulty, so check it out to
start a puzzle. In this puzzle, you want to swap pieces and
rotate them, so all the green lines connect. Once you solve
this puzzle, you get another puzzle, where you want to swap
and rotate the pieces so all the orange lines connect.

The crane machine works now, but you don't have a coin to
operate it. Go into the toy store and examine the arcade
machine to play it. In this game, you want to match matches
of three or more aliens. You can swap a piece with a piece
above, below, left or right of it.

Winning the game gets you a plastic egg. Use the egg on the
nutcracker (on the left part of the toy store). Open up the
mouth, and put the egg inside. You get a token for the
crane machine outside.

Go outside and use the token on the machine. You have a
puzzle here. You need to press the five buttons here, in
the proper order. Press some buttons, then press the green
button to see how many you got correct. You get an infinite
number of guesses, and it's easy to figure it out if you
work on it, one button at a time.

Solving the puzzle gets you some pigeon parts. Go inside
and use the pigeon parts on the pigeon display case. This
mechanical pigeon was made by Giovanni in 1900. Put all the
pieces together to make a pigeon. When you're done, the
pigeon flies off.

Go outside. Click on the pigeon, and it flies into the
downstairs area. Zoom in on the broken window to see that
the downstairs area is the old doctor's office. Use the rag
(from the wine store) to pick up a piece of glass here.

Go back twice, to where the tourist stand is. See the
hanging basket? Zoom in on it, then use the glass to cut
the rope. This lowers the basket of fish. Take a fish, then
go to the area outside of the toy shop. Give the fish to
the cat here, to get a saw blade. Use the saw handle on the
saw blade for a saw, and use the saw on the lock on the
doors that lead to the doctor's office.

Go into the doctor's office. Examine the sink for a ring,
then examine the red carpetbag. This starts a challenge.
You want to find all the items, based on their outlines.
Find all fifteen things to get two rings.

Examine the alcove which is part of the brick wall. Use the
rag to clean it off and find a family tree. This starts a
puzzle, where you want to move pictures around so every
picture is in the right spot. Every picture is numbered, as
is every spot where pictures go. The spots are numbered
according to the legend, at the top of the screen. Move the
pictures around so each picture is in the right spot; when
a picture is in the right spot, it snaps into place.

As it turns out, Professor Romano is part of Dr. Ferro's
family tree. He is on the upper/right, making him the son
of the couple below him, and the grandson of the couple
below his parents.

Once you're done with the puzzle, another puzzle starts.
Put the three rings into the ring slots. Now, line up the
strips so the top row has the first six letters of the
Greek alphabet (alpha, beta, gamma, delta, epsilon, and
zeta).

The letters on the bottom row are the letters on the
compass, to the right. Move it so each letter is in the
correct direction. Nu is north, pi is southwest, sigma is
west, tau is northwest, kappa is southeast and phi is east.

Solving this puzzle gets you microfiche. Look at it, with
the portable microfiche viewer. After that, you get a key.
Use the key on the cabinet (which is part of the table with
the sink) to get a magnet and the formula that Giovanni got
in order to cure Eva.

Return to the wine shop. Use the magnet on the red table
here, with the wine bottles. As the wine owner says, if you
can move the red bottle all the way right, you get it for
free.

This isn't the easiest puzzle. Move the two lower/left
bottles left, then move the middle bottle down. Move the
middle/right bottle left, so you can move the rightmost
bottle all the way down. That way, you can move the topmost
bottle all the way right, and the largest bottle (touching
the red bottle) up.

Move the middle bottle left all the way. Then, move the
largest bottle down all the way. Move the topmost bottle
left all the way, then move the three bottles in the
lower/right up all the way. Move the bottommost bottle
right all the way.

Move the largest bottle down all the way, which allows you
to move the red bottle right. Move the leftmost bottle down
and the topmost bottle left. Move the upper third-from-
right bottle up.

You can now move the red bottle right twice. Move the
largest bottle up, then move the bottommost bottle left.
Move the rightmost bottle down, then move the red bottle
right to the exit.

You get the bottle of wine when you solve the puzzle. Go to
the main area and give the wine to the lady at the tourist
shop. She will give you a cooking challenge.

In this challenge, you need to find ingredients. The pizza
is made with prosciutto, tomatoes, and the two green
ingredients in the upper/right. The brasato is made with
wine, oregano, olive oil, the green jar in the upper/right
and the chopped white vegetable in the upper/right.

The spaghetti is made with noodles, tomatoes, the green jar
in the lower/left, the green jar in the upper/right, and
the chopped white vegetable in the upper/right.

When you solve the puzzle, you get a scooter voucher. Take
it to the scooter rental area, then click on the scooter to
ride away.

004d-Chapter Four
-----------------------------------------------------------

Dana arrives at a monastery. One of the monks gives her a
tour. He starts with a statue. Zoom in at the base of the
statue for a puzzle. Switch the tiles here to make a
picture. It's easiest to start with the outer edge of the
picture.

The monk takes you to the courtyard. He asks you to examine
the work board. Take the long stick (left of the work
board), then examine the board. Find all eleven pictures on
the screen to learn that Giovanni visited this monastery
once.

Go forward to the other courtyard. Something is happening
in the bell tower, but there are no visitors allowed. Take
the basket on a bench here, then use the long pose on the
clothesline to get a blanket.

Go back to the courtyard. Zoom in on the sign to get two
tiles. The sign says that all monks leave, whenever the
prayer bell rings. Examine the bell to see a family of
birds. Put the basket on the ground, then put the blanket
in the basket. Pull the rope of the prayer bell. The birds
land in the soft basket, and all the monks leave to pray.

Go back to the front of the monastery. In the garage area,
you can find three tiles near a checkers board. A mallet is
here, too. Take it, then go back into the monastery. Go
left to the herb garden. On the well, there are the final
three tiles. Pick them up.

Use the mallet on the well to get a bucket of water. The
other item you can get in the herb garden is a trowel, on
the right. There is a supply cabinet, but the hinge is too
rusty to open, so you can't get anything out of it.

Go to the courtyard, then go forward. Use the tiles on the
door to the bell tower. This starts a puzzle. Put the tiles
in the correct spots, and rotate each tile so all the lines
connect. When you solve the puzzle, the door to the bell
tower opens.

Look at the red cloth on the right to find three mosaic
parts. Use the long stick on the ladder to lower it, so you
can reach the abbot's room. The abbot's ghost, who is
unfriendly, is waiting for you. Click on him, and he
leaves.

On the abbot's desk, you find the key to the supply closet.
Go down and leave the tower. Use the key to open the supply
closet here, and you get some glue, as well as oil.

Go to the herb garden and use the oil on the rusty hinge to
the closet. Inside is a pair of nail pullers, as well as a
wooden pole.

Leave the herb garden and go forward twice to a new area,
the shady grove. A donkey is here. A grate is on the right.
Use the nail puller here to remove the nails, in order to
find the wire cutters. The left wall of this area needs two
ring-shaped handles.

Return to the bell tower. On the wall, you can find two
ring-shaped handles. Remove them with the nail remover.

Return to the abbot's room. Zoom in on the guitar to find a
mosaic piece. There is string here, stuck on the wire. Use
the wire cutter to get the string, which Dana connects to
the pole.

Use the wire cutters on the wardrobe's lock. Open both side
of the wardrobe. You can get a sack, a rope belt and two
mosaic pieces.

Zoom in on the mosaic, right of the abbot's desk. Use glue
on the mosaic, to hold the pieces in place. Then, put the
pieces on the mosaic. This is a jigsaw puzzle; put every
piece in the correct place. As a reward, you get a formula.

Use Giovanni's formula on the abbot's formula. There are
fifteen differences between them. Find all the differences
to learn that the abbot forged the cure from Giovanni. He
was probably able to get away with this treachery, because
the rare herb which is part of the formula is only found in
the monastery.

Take the cubes here. Zoom in on the table, then use the
cubes on the holes. You want to click on the cubes, so they
match the symbols. The bow goes with the arrow, the match
goes with dynamite, the saber goes with the scabbard, the
gun goes with the bullet, the helmet goes with the head,
the armor goes with the body, and the boots go with the
feet.

This reveals a hidden drawer. Move the items around to find
a switch. Click it to make a statue appear. Zoom in on the
crossbow the statue holds, and press the eight buttons in
the correct order:

4815
3276

The statue fires the arrow into the shady grove. Go to the
shady grove and use the trowel on the dirt where the arrow
is. You find instructions on how to kill fire ants.

If you go to the herb garden, you learn that the necessary
herbs are covered with nasty worms. We need to get rid of
them. Go to the front of the monastery and zoom in on the
carrot garden. Use the sack on the rooster to pick it up.
Then, use the bucket of water on the dried ground here, so
you can pluck a carrot.

Go to the herb garden. Use the rooster on the worms to kill
them, then click on the herb patch. You have a challenge,
where you have to pick one herb, from every bush. This gets
you some ant killer.

Return to the shady grove. Use the ant killer on the wall
to the left, then put the two ring handles into the grooves
on the wall. Use the rope belt on the ring handles, and
Dana attaches them to the donkey.

Use the pole with string on the donkey, then put the carrot
in the string loop. The donkey walks forward, trying to
reach the carrot. As it does so, it pulls the wall open.

Look at the wall. Giovanni's dead body is here. Click on
all nine pieces of evidence here to end the chapter. Dana
concludes that the abbot killed Giovanni, in order to pass
off Giovanni's cure as his own.

004e-Chapter Five
-----------------------------------------------------------

Dana returns to the university at Tuscany. Give the forged
formula to Professor Romano, and he agrees to see if he can
get Giovanni credit for discovering the formula.

While he's gone, let's test the evidence that we found. Go
left to the medical department, then go forward to the
laboratory. Talk to the woman here and give the evidence to
her. She wants you to prepare the equipment.

You need to get most of the equipment first. Zoom in on the
shelf above the lab assistant. Take the microscope part and
the key. Then, zoom in on the drawer left of the lab
assistant. You have to move some items around so you can
get tongs, a cutter and another microscope part. Left of
this drawer, sitting on the counter, is a water bottle.

In the back part of the room, there is a fridge. Zoom in on
it to get three pieces of dirty equipment. Examine the
cabinet left of the fridge for a hidden objects challenge.
Find all ten objects, based on their outlines, and you get
the bowls.

Leave the laboratory. On the right wall of the hallway,
there is a cabinet. Unlock it with the key in order to get
alcohol. Leave the hallway to be back at the first screen
of this chapter.

Look at the shoe rack here for a hidden objects scene. Find
all the objects and you get a chisel. Zoom in on the brick
wall to the right and use the chisel on the loose brick to
get it.

In the bushes in the lower/right, there is a bottle of
cotton swabs. Pick them up. Zoom in on the package and use
the cutter on it. Draw a straight line across the middle of
the box to open it. Then, move the packing pellets out of
the way to find the third microscope part.

Go right, to the girl's restroom. Take three pieces of
paper from the paper dispenser, and take a brush from the
mop bucket. Take the bleach from the ground, and open up
the cabinet under the sink to find some rubber gloves.

Open up the middle bathroom stall. Use the rubber gloves to
get a doorknob from inside the toilet. Back away from the
stall, and use the dirty knob on the sink to clean it. Use
the empty water bottle on the sink to fill it up with
water.

You now have everything you need to clean the lab
equipment! Go back to the lab and zoom in on the counter.
Put the bowls and the lab equipment down on the left.

Use the water and the bleach on the red bowl, and use the
alcohol on the blue bowl. Use a paper towel on the lab
equipment, then put the equipment in the red bowl. Using
tongs, move it from the red bowl to the blue bowl.

Use the tongs to move the equipment to the tray. It's now
clean! Give the clean equipment to the lab technician. She
gives you some cloth. Use the three microscope parts on the
microscope, then use the microscope on the cloth.

You have a puzzle, similar to one in Chapter One. Rotate
all five rings, so you have the same image on each. It
shows the initials "SB". The lab technician will confirm
that SB is the murderer--as the same initials appear on the
knife--and she gives you Giovanni's pocket watch.

Go back a screen, to the hallway. The lab technician turned
on the records machine here. Zoom in on the machine to the
left to find that it is blocked by a slider puzzle.

Move the third-from-bottom piece left, then move the
second-from-left piece down. There are three pieces in the
upper two rows. Move all of them left. Now, there are four
pieces in the right three columns. Move all of them up.

Move the two bottom/left pieces right all the way. Move the
pieces right of the red piece down all the way. Move the
red piece and the piece below it right, and move the
upper/left piece down all the way. Move the red piece and
the piece below it back to the left.

Move the up-and-down piece in the bottom row up, then move
the two lower/right pieces left. Move all three pieces in
the two right columns down.

Move the second-from-top pieces right all the way. You have
two pieces in the upper row. Move the left one left and
move the right one right. Move the piece right of the red
piece up all the way, then move the red piece and the piece
below it right.

Move the bottom/left piece up all the way. Move the pieces
in the two bottom rows left, so you can move the pieces
right of the red piece down. You can now move the red piece
right, close to the exit.

Not long now! Move the piece in the third-from-bottom row
left. Move the up-and-down piece in the top row down. Move
the two left-and-right pieces in the upper/right to the
left, so you can move a piece in the rightmost column up.
Then, move the red piece right to the exit.

When you finish the puzzle, the drawer on the left opens.
Inside the drawer is a file about SB. He is the abbot. He
also donated a painting to the university.

Back away from the machine. The picture is right here, on
the wall. Click on the picture to find a hidden safe behind
it. The safe is locked.

There is a small desk, to the right of the machine. Use the
clean knob on the desk to open its drawer. Paint thinner is
inside. Use the paint thinner on the corner of the
painting, and then use the cotton swabs to clean it up.

This reveals the code to the safe. Enter that code by
rotating the dials. You get a confession letter, written by
the abbot about his misdeeds. Professor Romano appears.
Give the letter to him.

Go back to the records machine. In a drawer on the right,
you find a letter to Eva. Leave this area, then go forward
to the dorms. Give the letter to the woman to learn that
Eva's box is one of the old ones that can't be opened.

There is a loose floorboard here. Use the chisel on the
floorboard to find a bottle. Use the brick on the bottle to
smash it open and get the key for Eva's box.

Use the key on Eva's mailbox. Use the brush to clean off
the puzzle box, then zoom in on it. The puzzle is to make a
picture of flowers. Rotate the eight tiles and swap them,
in order to form a complete picture.

Solving the puzzle gets you a letter, as well as some
microfiche. Use the portable microfiche viewer on the
microfiche to end the chapter.

004f-Chapter Six
-----------------------------------------------------------

Dana arrives at the cathedral, where Giovanni and Eva were
going to be married. It's locked at the moment, and the
keys are inside the building.

Zoom in on the angel statue to see that the shield has four
indentations. You need to find all four pieces that go into
the spaces. The diamond is left of the cathedral door, the
triangle is on the car window, the circle is on the car
tire, and the square is against the cathedral's window.

Pick up all the shapes, then put them on the shield. The
angel will let go of its staff. Pick up the staff, and pick
up the stick on the ground (right of the car). Use the
stick on the window of the cathedral to prop it open, then
use the staff on the keys to get them.

Use the keys on the front door of the cathedral. There are
eight keys and eight locks here. Match the keys with the
locks, according to its shape. The door opens when you're
done.

Go into the cathedral. Take the car keys from the edge of
the right pew, then take the vase from the blue table. Zoom
in on the organ to get a cube for the altar, then zoom in
on the choir area. This starts a hidden objects challenge,
where you must find fifteen instruments to get a trumpet.

Leave the cathedral and use the car keys on the car door to
open it. Inside, you find a harp, a spark plug, and another
cube for the altar. Zoom in on the dashboard to find the
button which opens the car's hood. Press it.

Go back inside the cathedral and zoom in on the altar. You
have both cubes now, so use them on the altar. This starts
a puzzle, in which you must flip all the cubes. Pressing
them in this order works perfectly fine:

_1_
___
2_3
_4_
5_6

Solving the puzzle gets you a sun disc. You can use it on
the door which leads to the crypt. Inside the crypt, you
can find a wrench and a generator which isn't work.

Leave the cathedral. Zoom in on the water faucet and use
the wrench to take the hose. Under the hood of the car is
an fuel container. Remove the fuel cap, then put the hose
in the container. Put the vase in here, too. Dana will move
the fuel from the container to the vase.

Return to the cathedral's crypt. Zoom in on the machine.
Use the vase with fuel on the fuel hole (on the right), put
the spark plug in the hole (on the left) and turn the key.
Lights come on in the catacombs.

Go to the catacombs. The angels here need instruments. Put
the harp on the second-from-left angel to get sheet music,
and put the trumpet on the rightmost angel to get sheet
music.

Go back to the cathedral. Zoom in on the organ. Take the
piece of paper on the music stand, which details the
organ's code, then put the sheet music on the stand. You
have a puzzle, in which you determine how many times a
particular type of note appears on the sheet music. Click
on a number spot to change it. The answer is 734265.

After that, you have a puzzle to set the organ to its code:
12123231. Click on the eight buttons to move the angels up
and down the pipes. Set them to the correct positions to
get a flute.

Return to the catacombs. Put the flute on the third-from-
left angel to find a button. Press the button to open the
coffin. Inside is Eva. Put Giovanni's pocket watch in her
hands, and her ghost appears. Click on the ghost, and she
drops a note.

The note says she will meet Giovanni at a quarter after
seven, for their wedding. Go to the cathedral and zoom in
on the clock, at the top of the stairs. Set it to 7:15 to
end the game.

004g-Epilogue
-----------------------------------------------------------

Someone has kidnapped Professor Romano! Uh oh! Grab the
pouch of tools from the left, then go into the doctor's
office through the cellar doors.

The office is trashed! Zoom in on the wall, which had the
family tree. Tear back Paolo's portrait to get a message
from him, as well as half of a map.

The other half of the map is hidden inside the wax idol,
from the cupboard area. Grab the idol, as well as the
gloves from the bench and the lighter on the map (on the
table).

Go back outside and zoom in on the barbecue grill. Use the
lighter to light the coals, then put the idol on here to
melt it. Then, use the gloves to get half of the map.

Go back to the doctor's office. Now use the map pieces on
the map on the table. You have a puzzle, in which you find
fifteen different sections of the map. Solving the puzzle
gets you a complete map.

Use the tool pouch on the engine here to get engine parts.
Leave the office and use the engine parts on the boat's
engine. This starts a puzzle, where you must match engine
parts to the outlines to fix the boat.

When you're done, go to the front of the boat. Use the map
on the GPS. Draw a line along the dotted line, in order to
chart out a journey. Dana will then use the boat to travel
along the route, to the hideout of the people who kidnapped
Paolo.

The front door of the hideout needs two keys. You can get
the first key, by picking up the wrench in the lower/right.
Zoom in on the base of the sign post (on the left), and use
the wrench on all four bolts. This allows you to pick up
the sign post. Use the sign post on the rubble in the
middle (twice) to find the green key.

To get the blue key, examine the jar in the lower/middle. A
puzzle starts, in which you have match pairs of stones,
from 1 to 10. There is a legend on the right, which
indicates what number is on each stone. When you make all
the matches, two gold things are left. Match them to get a
gold eye. Then, zoom in on the statue head, on the right.
Use the gold eye on the statue to get the blue key.

When you have the blue and green keys, use them on the lock
on the front door. Click on the lock for a puzzle. Here,
you need to click on the six spots, so all the circles line
up in the middle.

1 2 3 4 5 6

Get 6 into place, then 2 into place, then 5 into place,
then 3 into place, then 1 into place, then 4 into place.
Solving this puzzle lets you enter the secret lair.

Pick up the three wooden blocks on the left set of stairs,
and pick up two wooden blocks from a bust in an alcove. You
need to find twenty blocks, over the course of the
epilogue. Take the slingshot from the statue in the
lower/right, then leave the secret lair.

Use the slingshot on the locket, hanging on the tree in the
upper/right. Dana gets the locket. Now go inside and
examine the statue in the upper/right, at the top of the
stairs. Put the locket on the statue. Put the ring (which
Dana got in the opening cutscene of the epilogue) on the
statue as well.

Click on the board that the statue holds. This is a puzzle.
You want to move the pieces around, so there are no
duplicate pieces in any row or column. Some pieces cannot
be moved.

 A BC
B C A
ACB
  ACB
CB A

Solving the puzzle gets you access to the control room.
Check the video monitors to see that Paolo is alive (for
now). Take the clue in the corner of the video monitor.

The clue helps you get the password for the laptop on the
right, but the laptop needs a flash drive in order to work.
Use the lighter on the statue in the corner, which lights
up the shelves. Zoom in on the shelves to get a knob and a
flash drive.

Use the flash drive on the laptop. Put the clue (from the
video monitors) on the right side of the laptop to start a
puzzle. Here, use the clue to figure out the password. If
"S" is square, "D" is diamond, "H" is heart and "X" is X,
the solution is...

SDHS
DXSX
XHDH
DXSD

The flash drive is filled with data. Dana can't access the
data right now, but I guess that doesn't matter. Leave the
control room, then zoom in on the statue at the top of the
stairs on the left. Use the flash drive on the computer
monitor for a series of puzzles.

In the first puzzle, you want to arrange things from top to
bottom. Move the shields around, to match the pictures
above. The top piece is on the right, while the bottom
piece is in the middle.

Next, you want to move the pieces to show the order of the
evolutionary pictures. The order is 2, 1, 5, 3 and 4.

Next, you want to move the pieces to show the building's
construction in chronological order. The order is 2, 1 and
3.

Next, you want to move the pieces to show how much of the
picture is there or not there. The order is 9:00, 6:00 and
3:00. Solving the puzzle opens the gate to the hallway.

Take the wooden block to the left, then click on the gate
to the left. Paolo says that the key to this gate is on a
table in the control room. Leave the hallway, then go right
to the control room. Zoom in on the table for a hidden
objects challenge. Find all the items on the list to get
the prison keys.

Leave the control room and go forward to the hallway. Do
you see the cabinet above the stairs, near the gate? Use
the knob (from the shelf in the control room) to open it.
Inside, you get robes, a blunt dagger and a clue.

Use the prison keys on the lock, which is left of the gate.
You have to unlock the door, according to the clue. The
clue says the solution is this:

green, blue, red, red, blue, green, blue
1, 2, 4
1, 0, 1, 1

Solving the puzzle opens the gate. Go inside and talk to
Professor Romano. Use the blunt dagger to free him. Uh oh!
It's not sharp enough. Leave the secret hideout, and zoom
in on the rubble. Use the blunt dagger here to sharpen it.

Return to Paolo. Use the sharp dagger on the ropes to free
him. Talk to him, and he says that he and Dana should
disguise themselves. Use the robes on Paolo. Dana and he
use the robes as disguises.

Talk to Paolo again. He wants Dana to set the control room
on fire. Then he leaves.

Time to get things from this room. Pick up the four wooden
blocks here, and take the rope off of the wall. Zoom in on
the skulls in the corner for a puzzle. You want to match
all the skulls in pairs.

Leave this room to the hallway. Examine the dumbwaiter on
the right. Take the wooden blocks here, and use the rope on
the rope here. This pulls up a box. Take the hook which is
on top of the box.

Go back into the prisoner room. Move aside the straw on the
floor to find a grate. Use the hook on the grate to pull it
up. You find two wooden blocks.

Go back to the hallway. Zoom in on the box the dumbwaiter
pulled up. The lock to the box is a puzzle. You need to
figure out the correct order to push the buttons in. The
solution is purple, red, blue, yellow and purple. Solving
the puzzle gets you some gasoline.

Leave the hallway and go to the control room. Zoom in on
the portraits on the wall. Use the gasoline on the
portraits twice. Then, grab the torch from the statue in
the corner, and use the torch on the gasoline-soaked
portraits.

Return to the hallway, then go forward through the now-open
gate to the meeting room area. Take a wooden block here,
take the two wooden blocks by the bowl, and take the three
wooden blocks by the dragon statue.

You should have all twenty wooden blocks by now. Use them
on the table in the middle of this room. This starts a
jigsaw puzzle. You want to drag and rotate the blocks to
form a picture of the door in this room. Solving the puzzle
gets you an eyeball.

Go back two rooms, and use the eyeball on the statue bust.
This results in you getting a gem.

Return to the meeting room and use the gem on the door. You
have a puzzle now. You want to move the arrows on the
statue's hands, so they match the jigsaw puzzle solution (a
picture of which is in your journal). Down is green, up is
purple, left is blue and right is red.

  right right down
down left left
   up left
   left up

The door opens when you solve the puzzle. Go forward to the
meeting room. Paolo is trying to solve a weights puzzle.
Click on the scales (in the upper/right) to start the
puzzle. You need to swap the skulls to make both sides of
the scales have equal weight.

There are multiple solutions. One solution has a set of
scales with the circular skull, the triangular skull and
the star skull.

The platform in the middle of the room raises up, and you
need to get the book from it. First, take the vial, in the
hand of the statue in the lower/right. Go back a room, then
use the vial on the green liquid to fill it up.

Go back to the meeting room. Use the vial of green liquid
on the platform. You want to fill the lines with green
liquid, by clicking and dragging the mouse along the lines.
When they're all full, the platform opens. Click on the
book.

Dana and Paolo take the book and escape from the secret
society.
