It depends whether you are willing to make your sim drive the Car often, or if you play a lot. Personally I would buy the car, because you can choose when to focus on earning lifestyle points and simoleans and not just wait for the dog to feel like getting up and finding them. But something you should know is that when you buy a masion it comes with a luxury car. If you can afford to do that then buy the masion with your simoleans, then buy a dog or cat with your lifestyle points. Then you will have both and you can see for yourself which one earns LP faster!
