How do I start required quests?
Ie. The library requires "Sanctus Arx Nerdarium". How do I go about that?

I am playing on iPad and it does not let me place the Simpson house in the shaded area. I have used the tick but it does not work

You said it does not let you place anything on the shaded area. Well thats the bit that you havn't unlocked. You need to unlock land with coins so you only have the bright bit at the moment but you can
Bbuy some land if you go to the thing which lets you place roads and stff and click the arrows then it comes up with lots of prices that you can buy it with.
