Question for The Simpsons: Tapped Out

I have an iphone 5. I was playing offline and built up a pretty decent Springfield. I decided to join and log in, not realizing I would have to start all over again. Please tell me how to log out so I can go back to my offline Springfield; I don't see that option anywhere. Thanks.

Tapped Out is an online game - as far as I know you cannot play it offline. How were you doing that???
