They are vines, often near caves. You need an axe to cut them down then pick up from ground
Lianas are a green vine that grows on cliff faces. You need to have an axe to cut them, but you also need to be taught about what and where they are before the game will let you interact with them. Follow the story quests and you'll be able to harvest lianas soon enough -- but watch out for the boars, who like to forage near the liana patches!
