Whenever you are running to help John recover keep an eye out for the occasional heart.
The amount of blood on John's face indicates how bad his condition is.
An exclamation point appearing or the right side of the screen indicates that a shield-carrying enemy is about to appear.
To fire John's weapons you need to tap the right side of the screen or to perform a sword slash swipe Up, Down, Left, or Right.
Swipe Up or Down on the left side of the screen to make John jump in those directions making sure that he avoids obstacles like laser beams, lava, and buzz saws.
