Your opponents in the Arena are human and you can gain significant rewards by competing. Once you have paid the 150 Gold entrance fee you will continue battling until you either secure 9 wins or 3 loses (whichever you achieve first). Losing three times in a row on your first attempt will mean you leave the Arena with an Expert Card Pack and 40 Arcane Dust, this reward improves if you manage to win some rounds before accumulating the three loses so to come away with a better stash of loot it is beneficial to practice before paying the 150 Gold to enter the Arena.

When you have played one match in Practive mode your first Quest will appear. If you play one match in Play mode, either a casual or ranked match against a real player you will earn a free pack of cards just for playing regardless if you win or lose.

Entrances and Card Packs to the Arena can be purchased with real money, they can also buy them using Gold, the in-game currency. You can earn Gold by completing quests, as an added bonus you can also earn a free Expert Card Pack in some of the early quests.

Do not be tempted to spend the first 100 Gold you receive on Expert Card Packs, it is more rewarding to save them for entrances to the Arena where even if you lose you will still receive a new card pack and Arcane Dust.
