The premium currency in the game is gems which along with gold can be earned by completing Achievements. You can also earn gems and gold by watching the occasional story segment for the first time.

You can save time on the early levels by using the 'Auto' feature which is located on the bottom-left of the screen, your troops should be proficient enough to earn you an 'SS' rank on their own.

Make sure you regularly check the home screen to see if you have any new equipment, new Lord levels, completed expeditions, etc.

Make good use of any new skills your soldiers earn, especially those that enable you to attack multiple enemies at the same time as they allow you to weaken targets simultaneously.

Either sell equipment that is not useful or you do not want for gold or use it when upgrading to make a character more powerful.

Make sure you are always earning extra items and Experience through regular play by assigning characters to go on expeditions. Characters sent on expeditions do not actually leave the party and can still be used in combat, you just have to wait however long it takes for the expedition to complete before you get your reward.

Rebirth is when you spend some Gold and use a few special items when you reach the maximum level of 30 to get a permanent upgrade for a character that will move them up to the next rank. Rebirth allows a character to keep their level 30 stats and increases their combat potential, it also unlocks new skills and gives them access to more powerful weapons. Rebirth becomes more costly as the ranks increase.

Nephthys Dungeon will appear on your world map when you have completed Verna (second area). Take advantage of this dungeon to farm for Experience and upgrade items. Although the Flame Garden has a limit to how many times you can complete it each day the Grand Corridor and Armour Storage can be stockpiled as much as you want and used to enhance equipment and put certain characters through Rebirth.

It is always worth looking to see what each level offers as a reward as not all of them will earn you Gold and equipment, some of them will give you entirely new playable characters if you beat it on a hard difficulty.

Take advantage of your location by placing your characters in positions where they are able to team-up for added damage. A good tactic is to attack enemies from the sides or the back.

Regardless of which one you choose always make sure you select a mercenary to take into battle when you are prompted. Having another character will allow you to switch to a healthy character and move your soldier if they are on the verge of death or suffering from a crippling status. You can then switch back when your character is in a safe spot.

It is important that you upgrade your soldiers whenever possible as it will make a significant difference when you start reaching later dungeons. Upgrading costs gold and items so it is best to pick one or two characters and just focus on getting them to where you want them.
