When you see any icon that is glowing on the 'Main' screen it is to indicate a place where you can go to find a free reward simply by claiming it.
Unless you use the AFK feature the best and most efficient way to earn rewards is to complete any quest that you have available.
If you use the AFK feature make sure you turn your device's auto lock mode off if you want to be able to put your phone down and let the game battle indefinately.
