Gold Bolts Guide

Gold Bolts are, funnily enough, bolts made of gold that are very rare and often hidden. There are 40 of these bolts in the game, and as you collect them you unlock costumes that Ratchet can wear.

Great Clock

Great Clock, Sector One

Gold Bolt 1:

Return to Great Clock, Sector One after you've completed Great Clock, Sector Three. Go through the level until you reach the hologram of Planet Jasindu. You'll see a small elevated platform next to the hologram - stand on it and press Triangle to start repairing time anomalies. Once you've completed the minigame, there will be 3 floating platforms behind the hologram. Simply jump across them to get the Gold Bolt.

Great Clock, Sector Two

Gold Bolt 2:

Just after you first see the Hypersonic Brainwave Scrambler for the first time in this sector, after using the Meteor Pad on the balcony, glide across to where the elevated platforms are. but stay on the ground. Go around to the right side of the building in front of you to find a Gold Bolt.

Gold Bolt 3:

Return to Great Clock, Sector Two after you've completed Great Clock, Sector Three. Go back to the Mnemonic Station and re-enter Clank's subconscious. Accept the offer to do the puzzle. This is going to be a long and difficult puzzle, so good luck! Start recording on the red pad. Walk forwards, jump off the platform and boost up to the higher platform on the left near the red pad. Stand on the button for a second, and then head towards the  higher middle platform.

Jump off the corner of the platform you're on and boost up to the higher middle platform. Stand on the button here until the timer reaches 37 seconds. Then, glide down to the elevated platform on the right, stand on the button and end recording. Start recording on the yellow pad. Follow the red Clank up to the platform, and walk up to the chamber When the chamber opens, go in, stand on the button and end recording.

Start recording on the blue pad. Walk forwards, jump off the platform and boost up the the higher platform on the right near the blue pad. Walk along the left side of the chamber on the platform, and then jump off the corner of the platform and boost up to the higher middle platform. Walk up to the chamber, and when it opens, stand on the button for a second and walk back out.

Glide back down to the platform you were on previously, and when the chamber opens, go in, stand on the button and stop recording. Start recording on the green pad. Turn around and go up to the chamber. After about 20-25 seconds, it'll open, so go in, stand on the button and stop recording.

Start recording on the red pad once more. Re-trace your steps, doing exactly what you did the first time, letting the yellow and blue Clanks in to their respective chambers. Once every one is inside, glide back down to the time pads to see the open door. Run towards it and glide over the gap to get inside, then grab the Gold Bolt.

Great Clock, Sector Three

Gold Bolt 4:

After you complete the second time puzzle, go outside and turn to the right. Swing the Chronoscepter at the last broken object to reveal a platform. Jump and boost on to the floating platform, then jump and boost to the next floating platform to get the Gold Bolt.

Gold Bolt 5:

Return to Great Clock, Sector Three after you've completed Great Clock, Sector Four. Go back to the Mnemonic Station and re-enter Clank's subconscious. Accept the offer to do the puzzle. This is going to be a long and difficult puzzle, so good luck! Start recording on the red pad. Jump up to the higher platform in front of you, stand on the button ans stop recording. Start recording on the yellow pad.

Jump up to the chamber that the red Clank opens for you, step inside, stand on the button stand stop recording. Start recording on the green pad. Jump up to the chamber that the yellow Clank  for you, go inside, step on the button and stop recording. Start recording on the blue pad. Go all the say up to the chamber that the blue Clank opens for you, go inside, stand on the button and stop recording.

Start recording on the green pad again. Re-trace your steps and let the blue Clank in to the last chamber, and then go back outside and stand on the button to the left of the chamber you were just in. Stand there until the timer reaches about 25 seconds, and then go and stand on the lone button on the other  side of this platform.

Stop recording, and then start recording on the yellow pad again. Re-trace your steps and let the green Clank in to his chamber. Once he leaves, go up to the button he's standing on and ascend the platforms. Stand on the button at the top and stop recording. Start recording on the red pad again.

Step on the button you stood on during the first recording, and once the yellow Clank leaves his chamber, follow him up to the platform the green Clank is on. Wait for the green Clank to step on the button on the right side of the platform, and then ascend the platforms, stand on the button at the top and stop recording.

Finally, start recording on the green pad. Re-trace your steps, letting the blue Clank in to his chamber, letting the yellow Clank ascend the platforms on the left and letting the red Clank ascend the platforms on the right. Immediately after the red Clank jumps off the final floating platform, head for the finish. It'll be a close shave, so if you do fail, try to lose a few seconds by doing it again and looking for times where no one is moving or where Clanks could start moving sooner.

Great Clock, Sector Four

Gold Bolt 6: At the start of the level, after you've deflected the turrets' bullets, jump on to the first spinning split wheel. Look down to see the Gold Bolt on the bottom of the inside of the next spinning split wheel. Throw a time bomb at the wheel, then jump and glide down to the Gold Bolt to grab it.

Gold Bolt 7: After you leave the last time puzzle, go outside and head to the right along the platform. A floating platform will appear nearby, so jump on it. There is a building in the distance, as well as a floating platform, but they are both out of reach. Jump and boost towards them for another platform to appear, and then continue along the platforms until you reach the building.

Go inside to find a hologram of Planet Fastoon. You can do the time anomaly challenge on Planet Fastoon. As always, just shoot at everything that's blue and you should get through without a  problem. Once you complete the game, a door will open. Go through the door to find the Gold Bolt. Grab it.

Gold Bolt 8: Return to Great Clock, Sector Four after you've completed Great Clock, Sector Five. Go back to the Mnemonic Station and re-enter Clank's subconscious. Accept the offer to do the puzzle. This is going to be a long and difficult puzzle, so good luck!

Start recording on the blue pad. Stand on the left button until the timer reaches 50 seconds, and then stand on the right button until the timer reaches 40 seconds. Glide over to the platform with a button and the yellow time pad, stand on the button for a second and then step off it.

Throw a time bomb at the wheel, make your way over to the platform with the red time pad on it, stand on the button for a second and step off. Glide to the middle platform, stand on the button and stop recording.

Start recording on the red time pad. Wait for the platforms to appear behind you, and then ascend them. Deflect the turret's bullet and make your way over to the chamber in front of you, and once it opens, step inside, stand on the button and stop recording.

Start recording on the green pad. Glide over to the pad where the yellow time pad is, and when the floating platforms appear, ascend them. Deflect the turret's bullet, and make your way over to the chamber ahead of you. Once it opens, step inside, stand on the button and stop recording.

Start recording on the yellow pad. Once the floating platforms appear, ascend them. Once the nearby chamber opens, go inside, step on the button and stop recording. Finally, start recording on the blue pad again.

Stand on the left button until the red Clank jumps off the last floating platform. Go over and stand on the right button, stepping off once both the yellow and green Clanks are off the floating platforms. Glide over to the platform with the button and the yellow time pad on it, and stand on the button until the green Clank is inside his chamber.

Once he's inside, throw a time bomb at the wheel and make your way over to the platform with the red time pad on it. Stand on the button until the red Clank is in his chamber and step off. Glide to the middle platform, stand on the button and let the yellow Clank in to his chamber. Turn around and glide in to the room with the Gold Bolt in it to get the Gold Bolt.

Phylax Sector

Zolar Forest, Planet Quantos

Gold Bolt 9: Return to Zolar Forest, Planet Quantos. Right after you get out of your ship, you'll see some tree branches with no leaves on them on the other side of the ship. You can go under one of the branches, in to a secret passage. Go to the end of the passage to find the Gold Bolt.

Gold Bolt 10: When you're in the Fongoid Village, climb to the top of the big staircase that leads to the entrance to the Temple of Zahn. Face the entrance to the temple, and look to your right, off the edge of the staircase. There is a small platform below with the gold bolt on it. Drop down there to get it.

Gold Bolt 11: Return to Zolar Forest, Planet Quantos, after you have acquired the Hoverboots. Go through the level until you're over the broken bridge and you encounter the little purple enemies. Go to the right to find a Hoverboot ramp. Accelerate off it and you'll land on a platform with the Gold Bolt on it.

Gold Bolt 12: When you are rescuing the second child mentioned in the guide (or when you're simply in that area, it's marked by a blue area on the west side of your map with a little green bit sticking out), you'll find a higher grassy platform with a big crate on it. Jump up to this platform and then run al the way to the end of the passageway to find the Gold Bolt.

Phylax Alpha

Gold Bolt 13: After you exit your ship, press Select to get a bird's eye view of the moon. Between the landing pad and the lone building on the other side of the moon, there is a small crater with four arrows pointing towards the middle. Go to this crater to find the gold bolt.

Phylax Sigma

Gold Bolt 14: Once you've landed on the moon, you'll have to kill 50 enemies to be able to get the Gold Bolt. Simply pull out your pistol and roam the moon shooting any enemies you see. They'll only be small, weak enemies, so it'll be a synch.

Watch out for the red Plasma Containers. They explode when damaged, so whilst they can take down enemies (especially these weaker ones), they can also hurt you if you get too close. Shoot them when enemies are nearby (and you're not) to make use of them. There are ammo crates around the level too, so don't fret about ammo. Once all the enemies are dead, you'll automatically get the Gold Bolt.

Vela Sector

Molonoth Fields, Torren IV

Gold Bolt 15: On the final hoverboot course, when you have to glide in the air, look down to see a Gold Bolt surrounded by streams of fire. Simply land on it to get it, then use the conveyor belt to get back on the course.

Gold Bolt 16: Return to Molonoth Fields, Torren IV, anytime after you've completed Great Clock, Sector Three. The Gold Bolt will be clearly visible on a rocky platform near your ship. Collect the Gold Bolt.

Gold Bolt 17: After you complete the final Hoverboots course, you'll land on a brown platform with a yellow dot in the middle of it. Turn around  look at the ground below to find the Gold Bolt on the other side of the large flat area  near some big rocks. Glide down to the lower ground, grab the Gold bolt, and then use the jump pads to get back up to where you were before.

Axiom City, Planet Terachnos

Gold Bolt 18: Return to Axiom City, Planet Terachnos, after you've completed Great Clock, Sector Three. Go back to Neurox Plaza, and go to the first big waterfall you see upon arrival. The Gold Bolt is attainable by going to the middle of the waterfall, where you'll be propelled upwards and in to the Gold Bolt.

Gold Bolt 19: Return to Axiom City, Planet Terachnos, and go back to Pollyx Industries (there's a teleporter near your ship). Go all the way to the part where Azimuth steps on a button to spawn a bridge. Go forwards, across the bridge, and through the opening in the wall. There's a higher ledge on which the Gold Bolt sits, so double jump when close to the Gold Bolt to get it.

Vela Alpha

Gold Bolt 20: Once you're out of your ship, equip your Hoverboots. Go off the first 2 ramps, then go right at the fork in the road. Don't go too fast, or you're bound to fall off (disable the Hoverboots if you're not too good with them, re-enable them when you need them again). Accelerate off the ramp and kick off the 4 kick pads to land on the platform with the Gold Bolt. Go off the next ramp and then just head straight to end up back at your ship.

Vela Beta

Gold Bolt 21: Once you're out of your ship, equip your Hoverboots. Accelerate off the ramp to reach a higher platform. Accelerate off the next 2 ramps, then kick off the 2 kick pads. Press Select, and you'll notice a small, isolated  hut near this platform.

Simply jump off and glide towards the open entrance to the hut, and land on one of the small platforms just outside. Make your way inside and get the Gold Bolt, then kill the enemy you find here and use the teleporter to get back to where you were. To get back to your ship, simply save the game and then load the game  save again.

Vela Gamma

Gold Bolt 22: Once you're out of your ship, face the same way your ship is facing and turn 90 degrees to the right. You should be facing a tall brown object visible from your ship. Head in this direction, making your way around the 4 hills in your way, then keep going in the same direction to find the Gold Bolt in a crater surrounded by arrows.

Vela Tau

Gold Bolt 23: After you get out of your ship, head forwards a bit and you'll see some enemies. You'll have to kill all 50 enemies to get the Gold Bolt. Roam the moon killing any enemies you see. Once all the enemies are dead, you'll automatically get the Gold Bolt.

Korthos Sector

Krell Canyon, Planet Lumos

Gold Bolt 24: Go off the long Hoverboot ramp at the start of the level, then as soon as you land near the weapons vendor, turn right and continue forwards until you can see a kick pad to your right. Move so you're opposite the kick pad, move back and accelerate at the  kick pad.

You should recognise it when you pass it.

Keep going forwards until you can go a bit to your left and turn around to see the start of the hill. Equip your Hoverboots, go up the hill and off the 3 consecutive ramps, then hop on to the Grind Rail. After you get off the Grind Rail, you'll see a fork in the road. Take the right path, go off the 2 ramps and land on the platform with the Gold Bolt.

Gold Bolt 26: From your ship, walk on to the mine track bridge, and once you're in the middle of it, look to your left to see the Gold Bolt sitting on a ledge opposite the bdige. Equip your Hoverboots, accelerate at the ledge and jump off the mine track once you reach the edge, landing on the platform to collect the Gold Bolt.

Gold Bolt 27: From your ship, go across the first mine track bridge and turn right to find a nectar plant. Extract some nectar, then continue across the next mine track bridge. You'll see the Gold Bolt behind a fence to your right.

Keep foing forwards until you reach the stream, then look to your right to see some tentacles. Throw some nectar at the tentacles and wait for them to retract. Once they do retract, go through the opening and get the Gold Bolt.

Gold Bolt 28: From your ship, go across the first mine track bridge, continue forward and go across the second mine track bridge. Equip your Hoverboots and accelerate across the third mine track bridge to avoid the Teramites.

Stop at the waterfall and look to your right - there is a Hydroplant here. Extract some water from the stream, then use it to water the Hydroplant. Use the Hydroplant to jump up to the top of the waterfall and grab the Gold Bolt.

Bernilius Sector

Valkyrie Citadel, Planet Vapedia

Gold Bolt 33: Return to the Hoverboot bolt crank that was covered in rust before you oiled it. Grab on and jump off the ramp, and kick off the first kick pad, but don't kick off the second pad. Once you're on dry land, head around the left side of the big rock in front of you and swing across the gap.

Continue forwards and go between the 2 rocks. Use your Constructo Shotgun or some other close range weapon to deal with the enemies you'll encounter along the way. Once they're dead, jump across the platforms to encounter more enemies on the other side. Kill them, and then walk around the rock and ascend the platforms to find the Gold Bolt atop the highest one.

Gold Bolt 34: Return to the Hoverboot bolt crank that was covered in rust before you oiled it. Grab on and jump off the ramp, and kick off all 4 kick pads. Once you're on dry land, you'll notice Swingshot targets to your left. Swing across them to find the Gold Bolt.

Corvus Sector

Gold Bolt 38: Once you've defeated Commander Argos and changed the present, go to the ship that you had to find power for, and across the nearby bridge, to the platform with a Zoni statue on it. Once you reach the statue, turn right, equip your Hoverboots, accelerate and jump over the body of water to the platform on the other side. You'll see some rocky stairs near another Zoni statue on this platform. Go up the stairs to find the Gold Bolt.

7.6.2: Corvus Beta

Gold Bolt 39: Once you're out of your ship, go across the rocky platforms in front of your ship and extract some ice, and then go back to your ship. Go across the platforms to the right of your ship, and water the Hydroplant. Use the Hydroplant to reach a higher floating platform. Jump across the floating platforms until you reach a big platform.

Turn right at the big platform and equip your Hoverboots. Accelerate off the ramp, but stop before you hit the jump pad. Cool the jump pad with your OmniSoaker first, and then use the jump pad to jump up to a higher platform. Kill the 2 droids, and then turn the bolt crank to raise 2 floating platforms. Equip your Hoverboots, adn then accelerate and jump on to the platforms.

Once you reach the next big platform, kill the 4 droids and traverse the next set of floating platforms. Kill the 3 droids and the 3 Agorians on this platform, and then extract some oil. You won't be able to go back the way you came, but it's still quicker to jump back down to your ship, go back across the rocky platforms to the Hydroplant, jump back up to the floating platforms and go back to the rusty bolt crank.

Oil the bolt crank and turn it, then make your way across the floating platforms you just raised. Use the jump pad to reach the next platform and kill the 4 Agorians you find. Traverse the next set of floating platforms and kill the 8 Agorians, then traverse the next set of floating platforms. Use the jump pad to reach the next set of floating platforms.

Equip your Hoverboots and accelerate off the 2 ramps. On the third elevated walkway, be sure to jump off the edge. Once you land, slow down and go up to the jump pad at the end of the walkway. I don't know if any one knows this but there is a secret unattainable Gold Bolt in the Molonoth Fields. Once you get out of your Ship, go straight forward and you find a rip in time. There is a still explosion and if you look carefully there is a Gold bolt inside it. Obscure.
