22: Route 6 and Chargestone Cave

Karrablast evolves when traded with Shelmet

When you enter Route 6 you will notice a path to the north that you cannot enter due to being on the wrong side of the ledges, and the bridge to the west – take the bridge and you find the first patch of grass!

The good news is that of these, we only need Deerling, Karrablast, and Foongus – the bad news is that Foongus is not exactly easy to catch.  But we are used to that – and we probably need to level our new Flying Taxi anyway, so have at it mates!  Foongus has a nasty side effect, yeah?

After you finish grabbing the three Pokemon head on the path for a battle!

Scientist William has a Level 27 Deerling.

There is a treasure ball we cannot get to without Surf here, so later...  Cross the bridge now, chat up the Trainer there, and then follow the path north to our next battle.

Pokemon Ranger Shanti has a Level 27 Emolga.  You need to blitz attack here because she really loves to use Double Team on you.  Her Level 27 Deerling will Leech Seed you as well, and after all that I have to admit that kicking her butt felt good.  Annoying battle that.  Like the other Rangers she gives you a berry as a gift – a Cheri Berry.

On the bridge is a big pink next battle!

Parasol Lady Nicole has four Level 24 Tympole – talk about a one-hit wonder!

Scientist Ron has a Level 27 Deerling.

– The Season Research Lab --

Around the corner is the Season Research Lab – and in the yard there is a treasure ball containing a Hyper Potion – so grab that – and then run along the other side of the bottom fence along the road to grab another treasure ball with an Elixir – nice one!

Inside you learn about the seasonal effects on Pokemon by chatting up the people here – and you learn that this also happens to be one of the many side-missions in the game.  The people here would like you to show them your Deerling – and when the season changes and it also changes, show it to them again.  Why not?

Fly back to town, grab your Deerling, show it to them, then put it back in its box and continue along the path now!  Hint – it is situations like this that Repel was created for!  After you do that continue on the path for the next battle!

When the seasons changes capture each Deerling and return to the Lab, showing each to the researcher -- once you have shown him all four season-forms, he will thank you, and then go out to catch his own Deerling.  When you return later -- after he has caught his own -- he will reward you with a Leaf Stone.  How cool is that?

Scientist Maria has a Level 27 Deerling.

As you continue along the path what looks like a treasure ball turns out to be a wild Foongus.

Parasol Lady Tihana has a Level 26 Vanillite, and a Level 26 Frillish – which is a new Dex Entry!

The next treasure ball actually is one – and it has a Leaf Stone in it, which is a good one!  As expected the third ball turned out to be another Foongus, sigh.

Pokemon Ranger Richard has a Level 27 Minccino and a Level 27 Emolga.  I don't know about you but I consider Emolga to be nasty unless you have a guaranteed to hit move to use...  Richard gives you another Cheri Berry as an extra reward, and you are on your way to the north!

The Backpacker fills you in about Chargestone Cave – and  do you remember the old man that the other Backpacker told us about?  Head to the right here and talk to him to learn about Mistralton Cave and Cobalion, then pop into the house here to get a Shiny Stone from the little girl inside.

Like your own Mum, the woman here will rest you and your team,

Meeting Clay at the Cave

– Chargestone Cave --

A few steps after the stairs ahead on the path takes you to the new zone, and a spider-web covered cave entrance.  If you walk up to it and click on it, Clay shows up, and  uses his Pokemon to bash it down.  Then he gives you the TM he should have given you in the Gym, the bastard – TM78, Bulldoze.  After that and a short speech he takes off again.

#108.602   Tynamo      (UR)       All      Cave

Checking your Dex you will see there are a few here that we need – so pop in and grab them now why don't you?

As you enter you are grabbed by a pair of twins who appear out of thin air and escorted to N!  It turns out they are from the Shadow Triad, and are Team Plasma's newest allies...   N warns you that they plan to test you – good to know – and then leaves.  Well bugger him!  We have things to do!

We need to capture a Boldore, Joltik, Ferroseed, Klink, and Tynamo – so hope you are lucky and pull the harder to get ones early!  You do not need a Drillbur so you do not need to pull Shaking Dirt unless you want to.

As you approach the blue gem in the back Bianca comes up to you – and she has the Professor with her!  They tell you about the floating stones, and then the Professor gives you a Lucky Egg, one of the most useful items in the game!  Sweet!

Push the gem out of the way and then continue north, pushing the next stone to the right to clear the path, and grabbing the Paralyze Heal from the treasure ball here.  Go around all the way to the north to get the Heal Ball from the treasure ball there, and then back south and east to have you a battle!  Remember, if you get into trouble that rest house is nearby.  If you see shaking spots appear when you were NOT running, those are treasure spots and have things like Flying Gems in them, so empty them!

Scientist Ronald has a Level 29 Klink.

Ace Trainer Jared has a Level 31 Archen.

Two stones are blocking the path – move the first to the left and the second down to clear it – then head south and east to the next stone, where you will be joined by the Professor and her bodyguard, Bianca.  You get a bit of silly dialogue that is not very scientific, and then you continue east and north where you find a battle.

Hiker Hardy has a Level 26 Boldore and a Level 26 Gurdurr.

Now back track past the split where the Professor is, all the way south you find a bridge – and get kidnapped by a trio of the Triad Grunts!  They direct you tot he stairs going down ahead, and warn you that Plasma is waiting for you there. If you did not capture all of the Pokemon on this level no worries, as the same set are on the levels below.

Grab the Hyper Potion from the treasure ball and then push the stone out of the way and continue along the path until you reach the stairs down.

Scientist Naoko has a Level 29 Klink.

Klink - The Gear Pokemon

– Chargestone Cave Level 2 --

Follow the path until you come to a set of twins – these are the Nugget Brothers – and they gift you with a pair of Nuggets.  Nice one!   North of them if you follow the wall is a treasure ball with a Timer Ball in it.  East of that are some Plasma Grunts for you to battle.

Bottom Grunt has a Level 26 Sandile, Level 26 Scraggy, and a Level 26 Watchog.

Top Grunt has a Level 28 Scraggy.

The path splits here, plus there was the western path below by the Nugget Brothers – so we have some exploring to do...

Go east and south the battle the Trainer at the other side of this loop to get this out of the way!

Doctor Wayne has a Level 29 Swadloon.  After you battle him he fully heals your party – epic!

Now go back to the grunts and head north here...

Plasma Grunt has a Level 27 Trubbish and a Level 27 Liepard.

Plasma Grunt has a trio of Level 26 Trubbish.

Plasma Grunt has a Level 27 Watchog, and a Level 27 Sandile.

Head down the stairs and push the stone left, then the next up so you can get to the next area, where there are more Grunts.

Plasma Grunt has a Level 28 Liepard.

Plasma Grunt has a Level 27 Sandile and a Level 27 Watchog.

There are two directions you can go here, down, and up – and we will go up first!  At the top of the stairs you head south to the split – to the east is N and another battle with him!

N has a Level 28 Boldore, a Level 28 Joltik, Level 28 Ferroseed, and a Level 28 Klink.

Bianca and the Professor show up after the battle, and Bianca points out that the City is just a little further!  N and the Prof have an argument and both head in different directions.  Now, we could leave via the nearby exit – but we have not completed our exploring yet!  South of here is a Trainer to battle... And there is no sense leaving here with XP to be gained!

Ace Trainer Corky has a Level 30 Whimsicott, and a Level 30 Tirtouga.

Past Corky at the bottom of the stairs is a treasure ball with a Magnet – which is a useful hold item for Electric-types that boosts their attacks.

Head back to the split and to the left for the next battle...

Scientist Orville has a Level 29 Klink.  This was the bloke we could see earlier but not get to, due  to the floating rock, and he is the last battle we need to do on this level, so backtrack to the stairs and go down now.

Ace Trainer Allison has a Level 30 Drilbur, and a Level 30 Zebstrika.

Now push the stone down and go around and up to reach the split, where you first go east and all the way north to the treasure ball with the BrightPowder in it.  Once you have that head back south and then west, and south to a battle!

Ace Trainer Stella has a Level 29 Gothita, a Level 29 Ducklett, and a Level 29 Lilligant.

After the battle go down the stairs and grab the Hyper Potion from the treasure ball.  Now follow the narrow ledge down, around, and up, to get the Rare Candy from the other treasure ball.

All that is left is for us to backtrack to the exit that N used and head out!

You don't talk about Mistralton Cave anymore then what the old man tells us about Cobalion...? He says you should be able to catch the other 2 if you caught Cobalion in the Guidance Chamber...
