Victory Road

Head up the stairs and you will enter Victory Road.  At the first turn you find N waiting for you – after telling you about how he was enlightened, N gifts you with HM05 Waterfall.  Excellent!  About time we obtained this!  Now if we just had a fishing pole...

Now as you continue on the path the automatic Badge Checker verifies your right to be here and travel this Road – and at the end you are treated to a melodramatic confirmation that you are indeed able to enter!  The cave ahead leads to the Elite Four, but to the right of it is a Pokemon Center where you can heal up your team, and where you can access the PC and buy supplies.

If you work your way through the maze of ruins outside you can find Treasure Balls containing a Star Piece, TM01 Hone Claws, and a PP Up.  Using your Dowser you can grab a hidden Dusk Stone, and Iron.

All that is left now is for you to head inside the passage and begin your awesome struggle to reach the Elite Four!

– Victory Road –

As you pass through the entrance and enter this challenging path you should try to work out in your mind what you want to accomplish here.  Obviously your primary concern is to level-up your team to get them to the point that dealing with the long string of battles that make up the Elite Four will be easier to manage.  You may be thinking that getting your team to a minimum of Level 75 is a bit over-reaching but in reality, considering that they have to do the Elite Four Battle in one long string, it is really the minimum you should be shooting for.

Still this is about fun, not work, and spending loads of time grinding levels would really be a lot of work, so we shall not do that.  The goal of Level 75 across the board should be well within your reach at this point, assuming you have been following the guide, so hey, let's have some fun!

– Victory Road Part 1 –

The first thing you should be aware of  is that this is a Wild Pokemon area as well as being the route to the Elite Four.  In addition to trainer battles and items you will find Wild Pokemon battles, which you can either embrace or ignore, your call.

Among the Wild Pokemon you will find here are Level 46 to 53 Banette and Golurk, and in the water you will find Basculin, and Marill.  In the water holes will be Azumarill, Basculin, and Marill.  Of these Pokemon the only one you actually need is Golurk, and you will not have trouble getting one so don't even try, it will come naturally!

Ahead of you is Ace Trainer Billy, who has a Level 55 Golurk and a Level 55 Sigilyph and pays $3300.

Head north and push the boulder into the pit to continue to the next trainer battle, at which Psychic Alia shows you her Level 54 Lampent and Level 54 Musharna and pays you $1728.

Head north from here and through the exit.

The Run Up to Victory Road - Passing the Test for Admission

– Victory Road Part II –

This outside area has water, grass and trainers, and if you have been following the guide, only a few Pokemon you actually need to capture.

Among the Wild Pokemon here are Level 47 to 49 Altaria and Tranquill in the Tall Grass, and in the Shaking Grass Audino, Dunsparce, and Unfezant.  In the water are Basculin and Buizel, and in the water holes,  Basculin, Buizel, and Floatzel.

Of the Wild Pokemon here, assuming you have been following the guide, you should only need to capture Altaria, which will not be all that difficult to do.

As you enter the area to the immediate right through the grass is a Treasure Ball with a Full Restore in it, and if you follow that path up and left, then down and Surf west you will find another Treasure Ball with an Ultra Ball.

Veteran Cathy has a Level 55 Sigilyph and a Level 55 Crobat and pays you $4400.

At the top of the area there is a Treasure Ball with a Max Repel in it.

Ace Trainer Beckette has a Level 55 Whimsicott and a Level 55 Unfezant, and pays you $3300.

Doctor Logan has a Level 54 Clefable and pays you $3240 and he heals your team.

Head east and south to battle Ace Trainer Shelly who has a Level 55 Swoobat and a Level 55 Lilligant, and pays you $3300.

Head back to the Doc and heal, then proceed through the entrance to the next area!

– Victory Road Part III –

Back in the cave again use your Dowser to find a Max Revive directly ahead, and then continue along the path.

This part will take you through a number of areas as we work our way along, and you will find the following Level 41 to 55 Wild Pokemon along the way: from normal walking or running you will find Altaria, Boldore, Cottonee, Druddigon, Onix, Zweilous.  Tall Grass offers Gurdurr, and Throh.   Don't worry about Surf or Water Holes as you already have the Pokemon you can get from those.

Ace Trainer Webster has a Level 55 Durant and a Level 55 Ferrothorn and pays $3300.

Ace Trainer Shanta has a Level 55 Heatmor and Level 55 Galvantula and pays $3300.

Ahead you reach a point where the path branches –  what these are is different ways to get to the same destination but as we want to get in every trainer battle we can, we need to be systematic about this – so head north first to do some boulders and pits, and to the right you battle Pokemon Ranger Eddie, who has a Level 54 Electrabuzz and Level 54 Probopass and pays $3240 and gifts you a Cheri Berry.

Through the entrance above you will need to use Flash, and then make your way north past the stairs and east to find a Treasure Ball with a PP Max in it!  Excellent!  Now take the stairs and follow the path to the exit outside, head up and over and grab the Dragon Fang from the Treasure Ball there.  Head down and inside the entrance here to re-enter the caves.

Head west and south to have a battle with Veteran Hugo and his Level 54 Fraxure, Level 54 Flygon, and Level 54 Zweilous and pays $3300.

You will have the opportunity to capture a Zweilous here as well as Druddigon, and I suggest that you do so since you need both for your collection.

At the bottom of the stairs is a Treasure Ball with a Dragon Scale in it.  Collect that and then backtrack to the entrance - do not bother using the exit below as you cannot pass the Pokemon that is blocking the other cave entrance there.

Head back outside and retrace your steps all the way back to the dark cave – use Flash to illuminate – and head inside.  Follow the path to where the lake is, and Surf out on to it to the south to reach a ledge with a Treasure Ball that has a Rare Candy for you to collect.  Make your way back to the entrance and exit the cave, and return to the four-way intersection.

Head west now and use your Dowser to locate a Full Restore, then continue west to battle with Veteran Abraham who has a Level 55 Gigalith and a Level 55 Skarmory, and pays you $4400.

Exit to the outside and head into the grass here to grab the Max Repel from the Treasure Ball here, then continue along the path down for a trainer battle!

Ace Trainer Pierce has a Level 55 Swanna and a Level 55 Ampharos and pays $3300.

At the bottom Surf south to the stairs and head up, then west and south to zone into a new outdoors area!  Work your way through the Grass here to have a trainer battle.

Ace Trainer Chandra has a Level 55 Darmanitan and a Level 55 Tangrowth, and pays $3300.

Grab the Ultra Ball from the Treasure Ball above, and then down the stairs to the south, where you will find a boulder that needs to be pushed into a pit, then work your way east to have a battle with Ace Trainer Jamie who has a Level 55 Drifblim and Level 55 Claydol and pays $3300.

Head south to battle Psychic Al who has a Level 54 Metang and a Level 54 Cofagrigus and pays $1728.

Depending upon what shape your team is in you may want to continue farther south and then east and south, which leads you to the main entrance to the zone, and the outside where the Pokemon Center is.  The thing is that if you do that you cannot return to this area without first retracing the entire route that got you here, so if you do not desperately need to heal and resupply, you are better off staying on this side of the ledge.

Either way, you are actually done with this part of this segment, so either hit the Center and then retrace your way back to here, or be here and so backtrack along the path to the exit to the outside, and then loop around to the west side of the area and south.   Be sure to capture a Cottonee if you do not already have one while you are here, and then Cut the tree here and head south to grab the Full Restore from the Treasure Ball here.  Now head back to the north and back into the opening under the trees, doubling back around to the other side via Surf, and stop at the four-way intersection again!

We are now ready to follow the south branch, exit outside and battle Backpacker Mae who has a Level 54 Sawsbuck and pays you $1296.  Now bear in mind that you now have Waterfall, so first Surf to the east and grab the Escape Rope from the Treasure Ball there, and then Surf down the Falls and follow the river to the east to the cave entrance and hop onto shore, and enter the cave!

Inside is a large lake – Surf south and then east and south again, and finally west and south and jump out, head up the stairs here and you will have you a battle!

Veteran Claude and Veteran Cecile have Level 55 Braviary and Mandibuzz, followed by Level 55 Archeops and Carracosta, and pay you $8800.

Head down and around to grab TM93 Wild Charge from the Treasure Ball here, and then backtrack all the way back to the four-way intersection again!  For all practical purposes we have cleared this zone, so it is time to move on to the next area, which we will reach by heading along the north branch, but this time instead of going into the dark cave above you need to head east and exit outside via the exit at the end.

As you work your way up you will do battle with Black Belt Martell who has a Level 54 Pinsir and a Level 54 Heracross, and pays you $1728.

West of him is a Treasure Ball with a Max Elixir in it – collect that then head east and north up the stairs, following the path and your Dowser to a hidden Normal Gem, then keep going up.

Ace Trainer Caroll has a Level 55 Fraxure and a Level 55 Vanilluxe, and pays you $3300.

Veteran Portia has a Level 54 Zebstrika, a Level 54 Starmie, and Level 54 Sawk, and pays you $4320.

Veteran Sterling has a Level 54 Beartic, Level 54 Golurk, and Level 54 Throh, and pays you $4320.

– Victory Road Part IV –

As you enter the cave you will notice that the stairs leading down are blocked off by barriers – and as you near them you are stopped by your Rival Hugh, for a Rival Battle!

Hugh has a Level 55 Unfezant, Level 55 Bouffalant, a Level 55 Simisear, and his starter (depending on what you chose) which for me is a Level 57 Serperior, and pays you $5700.  Hugh thanks you for your help in rescuing his sister's Pokemon, and then gifts you with TM24 Thunderbolt.

When you exit outside you will find yourself looking at a long-view of the area, and as you walk through the gates you will find yourself having entered the Pokemon League!  Well done!
